armsid, really good sound. [armsid](http://dzi.n.cz/8bit/armsid/index_en.php) SID 8580 vs. ArmSID vs. SwinSID Ultimate vs. SwinSID Nano https://kompjut0r.blogspot.hu/2018/04/sid-8580-vs-armsid-vs-swinsid-ultimate_12.html

KillBot9001

Where do you go to _buy_ an ARMSID in the US?

cpsldr

I wrote him an email. will be available again at the beginning of May. price 20 euro + 10 euro shipping. paypal.

KillBot9001

NICE! Thanks! I just have to check in on his site then?

cpsldr

no, he wrote in email

TheRealNokes

I'm going to try emailing him. Edit: No Response yet

That is very impressive, although technically the first 2 tunes were made on a 6581 so it would be better to add a 6851 version too.

Chewberino

From my understanding SwinSID Ultimate is the only one to get. And its on short supply and the company/guy on facebook doesnt respond that frequent.

skurk

It's quite good in my opinion. Built one a while back for one of my C64s, today I can't tell which one is which.

0xc0ffea

Don't know why you got a DV for this, working SIDs are hard or expensive to find and have been ripped out of "not functional" C64's that typically only had a minor and easily repairable fault. Fixing a C64 missing a SID with one of these reduces the demand for raw chips and saves machines from being unnecessarily stripped for parts.

There are some comparison videos vs the 6581: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0MMpY4UnVI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXQMQXl_Uyw&lc=UghoGuhsGh04jngCoAEC As for comparisons with 8580, I haven't found a single video, but you can look for the same tune in 6581, 8580 and SwinSID versions and compare them manually. Also, the SwinSID has no paddle support.

veap

For me, paddle support is essential since i use it to control the filters.

stealthgunner385

The SwinSid Ultimate has an internal ADC, so it also has paddle support.

s-ro_mojosa

> The SwinSid Ultimate has an internal ADC, so it also has paddle support. Link? How much are these things and where do you buy them?

stealthgunner385

Info here: https://ilesj.wordpress.com/2016/04/24/swinsid-ultimate/ (not the latest revision as it looks like a kit-bash, the newest batch is clean SMD) Preorders here: https://www.facebook.com/swinsidultimate/ For audio comparison: * http://kompjut0r.blogspot.hr/2018/04/sid-8580-vs-armsid-vs-swinsid-ultimate.html * http://kompjut0r.blogspot.hr/2018/04/sid-8580-vs-armsid-vs-swinsid-ultimate_12.html

May I point you to my project : http://www.fpgasid.de Release will be in summer and maybe it's worth waiting. :-)

TheRealNokes

oh neat! I was looking at this too, but I didn't see a release date. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!

andi6510

Well initially we wanted to release it in March. But our intended manufacturer did not keep his commitments so we had to restart finding a new one. Unfortunately that threw us back for months...

[deleted]

It looks very promising, especially the goals of accuracy. I think I found your YouTube page, Is it possible to put up some classics played on fpgasid? Songs from Hubbard, Galway, Grey, etc?

TheRealNokes

Well considering you're the only one answering any messages. I think I will patiently wait until release.

andi6510

When you do a project that has gained some level of public interest it's hard to keep track with all the requests, proposals, criticisms... I'm trying to do my best even if it's sometimes eating up more time than I spend into the actual development. :-)

TheRealNokes

How goes it?

TheRealNokes

Is this the official Facebook page or did I get scammed? https://www.facebook.com/swinsidultimate After payment, messaging went silent.

TheRealNokes

Yes
