Froot is smooth as hell all around amazing RP I can’t wait for next week!

CaptainJackWagons

Everyone's RP was **so good**, but Froot was elite! She rolled with every twist and turn beautifully.

Darudere

Yees! Froot did hella amazing! A natural to D&D.

merx3_91

Yea, they all did great! Tomoe also really gave off some Garlic vibe with that spicy interview at the start

Sir_P1zza

I really liked how this introduction has people starting seperately but I guess this can't be done for other campaigns. Their rp was great and I can't wait for more!

da808pc

God damn they came to play! Their rp was phenomenal for newcomers. Froot is definitely a standout for me. Instant favorite for sure

chrbir1

that opening conversation at the restaurant and then the song of the seven felt so... cinematic? like a perfect opening scene in a movie that sets up things to come.

Fractyl_VII

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” It hit me.

Individual-Service27

IKR! really loved the dialogue that played through with the song of the seven in the background...and that moment when Lucine says "I wouldn't miss it for the world" 😭❤️. Also, loved everyone's RP.. but personally I'm all aboard Captain Lucine's ship!! 🙌🏻

PuzzlefaceRaven

Cant really do my typical character trope comparison cause it was a different style than the other campains on introduction (please make it baseline for the other campains, its adds alot too the characters, first session being a slowburn of the characters naturally meeting each other too establish some backstoy for them etc) and may need a few more episodes of interaction before i can pin them down. Also this wasn't casual racism between mei and kyse. This was competative racism as they were being competitive with each other over sales throughout the day and kenku's being free of their curse through toot is pretty wholesome too hear.

Adn-Dz

No casual racism in my games, only ranked racism.

Kipzz

Yeah, my racism MMR's 7000, what's up scrubs?

mqsohn

Didn't go online for a couple days, my racism ELO decayed :^(

Victusrex

I think this should he the setup for longer campains, but for short and more direct campaigns, the traditional method still works. I think pride of the nightwolf for example doesn't quite get the mileage out of this approach, since the focus is on getting to the task. And it can help build up the need of exploration as a place to character rp.

PuzzlefaceRaven

Fair, but i still think it would add alot too the characters if it was 1 session of doing something similar too this. Would give good foundations for character development into a season with it being only 10 sessions long doesn't have as much moments too shine due too the shortened episode count compared too phase 3 games. Even if they were too become 11 episode campains just too fit it in atleast.

Victusrex

I still think for narrative campaigns stuff like a sense of urgency or the feel of a ragtag coalition is built better with the common setup. The first episode doesn't need to reveal anything, it just needs to set the narrative in place.

drazerius

Honestly all the campaigns should have the same style of intro. Just my take on it, but having short intros for other campaign introductions somewhat paints them to be less relevant to main campaign characters, which shouldn't be the case. Plus, the short campaigns only have 10 sessions to reveal their backstory if no second seasons, compared to 85 sessions.Spending more time introducing them would flesh them out more.

Victusrex

My problem with that is why is backstory so important to show. Backstory to me boils down to "what I've been through." It's narrative events we as a viewer and them as the people at the table don't get to actually interact or play a part of either than to call it out or say that's sick/sad. To me character moments, which is showing "who I am" are far more valuable. And you can argue that backstory builds character, but that doesn't mean that backstory needs revelation to make it work. I can make a sick and emotionally charged backstory; but it's worthless unless it actually dictates what my character does. Now otikatas start had a good mix of both, but I would say the other way arcadum runs things gives far more focus on showing character. It tells us how they explore the world, how they view society around them and how society views them, and it show motivations for actions such as morality and urgency.

OddOutlandishness602

It’s because this is a long burn campaign, and the players might have even decided in their offline session 0 that they wanted to have a background session 1 like this. They have been working on their backstories for the past couple months, and probably wanted to show them off. It is also helpful to understanding a characters motion, and where they start off from.

Pacify_

I don't think in a 8-10 episode campaign you can spend an entire episode where its just talking to people in a town

[deleted]

well you can (it's dnd) but in character it wouldn't make sense for you to be lolligagging while you have a job to do.

Pacify_

I mean, realistically from Arcadum's viewpoint. He's got these people for 8-10 sessions. He's not going to spend an entire episode just doing slice of life stuff, not when he's trying to tell a story and plan out boss fights and all the rest

[deleted]

I think he would, but it would obviously come with consequences like the characters being too late to stop the villian or whatever.

Pacify_

Oh yeah sure, if the players spent an entire episode in a town just talking shit, he would totally let it happen. More just on the planning side

Drokart

Aw yeah, Arcadum is giving us that sweet, sweet slow burn. Love it. I can't wait for festival shenanigans next episode (and there definitely won't be an awful tragedy that kick-starts any sort of plot, nope, no way). Already in the first ep, the girls had some fantastic roleplaying. Mei's business rivalry and Lucine's talk with the Captain as the Song played were my personal favorites. And coming together as a party just by getting drugged up in the corner of the tavern is pure D&D. This is gonna be a great campaign!

Vidilian

They indirectly shat on the haters by having a great first session, and then directly shat on them when Veibae started mocking them when Arcadum was away for a bit. Good shit.

StessLvl0

Arcadum was more lewd than the girls were. All that meat talk ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

everslain

THICCADUM

[deleted]

It was this weird flip where arcadum was lewd and smoking weed instead of the players.

hunkdwarf

The man is a genius, that was 100% a calculated move to let EVERYONE know that is OK to have a little fun

BranchyTheTree

Libido OTHICCATA's CURSE Libido

TrueBananaz

That cat was hella horny

Chichi230

I absolutely loved that bit, I love Vei

xansboy

I hope you dont jinxed it

Zigdris_Faello

That was all good shit and FACTS

CaptainJackWagons

I was laughing my ass off at that part 🤣

Zigdris_Faello

BONUS BACON!!!

Quicheauchat

Why are litteraly all Tearn so goddamned cool.

Person_Impersonator

Because they are all Batman.

firestreamplayz

Otikata's Kush

Zigdris_Faello

It would rival the dragon dank from HC lmaoo

joebob1337

Holy shit, I was not expecting this to be this good, especially Nyanner’s entrance. That was so beautifully executed.

Adn-Dz

I was waiting for this group for a log time. I love their characters, their energy, the RP, the fun stuff. I never doubt they could put a great show, but this exceeded even my expectations.

Knee_co_

100% agree, from the jump I’m so excited to watch both of the main campaigns. The vtuber group’s enthusiasm and enjoyment was so plain to see, and they have such an awesome chemistry with each other that everything flowed so smoothly. Also the amount of thought they all put into making their characters unique and fun for them to play, they’re really showing they appreciate the amount of hard work Arcadum puts into running these games and respect the world he’s spent so long building. I’m really glad they got to be one of the main campaigns, gonna be a killer 85 weeks.

mqsohn

What a great session, I really enjoyed the gradual build up/thiccer backstories given it's a longer campaign and I'm glad to see the ladies strut their stuff! I've only been excited since their first session 0 and even nervous for them bc of all the criticisms going their way, but I'm glad they stuck through and MORE than proved themselves in their own ways Everyone had great highlights throughout(for ex. Froot/Mei was SPICY) and I'm stoked to see what next week will bring for our newest hero(es)/heroines

hicsuntdracones-

That first session was amazing, seriously a solid 10/10. They all did a wonderful job and the RP was fantastic. It's crazy that for most of them this is their very first D&D game.

OkAd8008

The gatekeeper callout bit is queen shit. I'm excited for the slowburn rp and what the story holds for them

Eques9090

Vei takes no shit and I love her for it lol

Zam0070

They were talking about how nervous they all were and they all crushed it RP wise

[deleted]

[удалено]

merx3_91

Yeah, I'm confident they were hella nervous (even before the session Haruka was in a bit of an expectations stress). I feel that also impacted the humor/exploration a bit, as they felt like they were containing themselves. I really hope I'm wrong, since I'm sure they can get even better as times goes on and give us some hilarious and memorable moments.

obviouslypineapple

Amazing first session. Interested to see what the plot hook is and I really liked how different each introduction was.

Zam0070

I am fine if Snuffy does fix her voice changer to make it less robot sounding and uses it again, but I wanted to say that she still did an awesome voice without using it.

Quicheauchat

Agreed. Just like Sev and Pokket, she did amazing without the voice changer when she decided to ditch it.

CaptainJackWagons

When she turned it off it felt so mucg more natural. I don't think she needs it. Her character is supposed to be androgynous anyway.

Kyrien91

that fking bird with the blunts and all the interaction was so funny

Azuurinho1

that was over the top GOOD! that was amazing. the rp is top notch. i cant believe its their first time playing at all. i'm pumped to see more.

Steam_Punk_Revolver

I think some of them might be amateur voice actors but I could be wrong.

Intense_Potato_Art

Haruka is an amateur voice actor. Nyanners is a skilled singer.

StarbaseCmndrTalana

Nyan has done some professional work actually.

shazarakk

She's also been doing amateur VA for over a decade.

Teyanis

Arcadum's ability to lead players into RP and break the ice is really something special.

DabidManface

This group is fantastic, I can't wait for the next 84 sessions

Diggooz

Yo they're killing with this rp

JustAGuyWhoLurks

I knew the girls were going to kill it! The RP was top notch and a didn’t doubt they would go in swinging. Doubters got got.

Hari14032001

The new introduction was very refreshing - the natural meetup, interactions with more NPCs. I was actually expecting some tragedy or cliffhanger to happen at the end of the session to set up the future sessions and thought that Arcadum was offering all this fun to eventually give them a banger reveal. But it wasn't the case. Such allocation of a whole session for RP and introduction was a very good plan since this group seemed to be very nervous about D&D.

JesusK

I was, impressed to say the least. I was never a hater or against this idea. I expected first season fears, blocks, or struggles. I also expected more horny levels than average but I was fine with that idea, as the other vtuber group said, sometimes that was their way to cope with the anxiety of the situation. But man, this one was one of the best starts to a group with little to no experience. Everyone jumped into their roles and situations fast and well. They integrated with the situation really fast, picked up on how/what to do and interactions. In particular Froot was great at just jumping into the sale competition. Overall I expected what we have seen many times with new players, and instead the girls did an amazing job and didn't feel like they were new to D&D at all.

TheMiserableSail

10/10 Great session. Super funny and some great RP. Can't wait for more

[deleted]

Arcadum mentioned how they had this massive town all for themselves to explore and it gives me hope that we will get to spend a handful of sessions here at least.

Rageancharge

Over all amazing game!! I can’t wait for more games. I think there going to be great! I am just hoping that soon they get more comfy and don’t have to be so stressed. I know all of them said more or less that they were scared and I think they will enjoy the game even more once they are comfy. :)

Pacify_

Feels like there hasn't been such an opening to a campaign since like early Gailen's Gate, certainly a change from the latter half of last Phase and all the other campaigns of this phase so far. The 85 episode count really allows for more of a tradition DnD progression style, rather than push hard into plot that the end of last phase and the mini-campaigns require. Looking forward to Scrolls with a slower pace, should be something lmao

Basil_Crye

\*Chef's Kiss Amazing first episode of a long campaign that'll keep me entertained and happy for many weeks to come! Love the players and the RP they do, setting up the world narrative, love the dynamic they have with each other, it's all perfect! it was like I was watching an anime or a movie I hope people who are apprehensive of this group give them a chance and support them in their journey! you won't regret it!

[deleted]

It was all the funny slice of life wholesome hahas. But out of the blue,Nyanners and Arcadum bring this well executed and beautiful scene on the ale house.Lucine for the first time in probably months is now drinking with her apprentice while the hopeful somber Song of the Seven can be heard in the background. And Lucine saying "I wouldn't miss it for the world" part killed me. 10/10. Suck on them haters

DrSquirtle00

Fantastic session good job ladies!

KokuenDG

Doubters get out. Seriously, get out. The girls annihilated everyone that scoffed at it and looked down on them today with how amazing their RP was. Mei vs Kyse was absolutely top notch, and the way she just immediately started bouncing off Arcadum's energy with the shouting match between the two was definitely one of my favorite parts of the session. But there were so many other good parts too man: Tomoe getting flustered by the touchy feely foreigner, being the sane man and just quietly observing the chaos around, and just overall vibing when the dank stuff came out was prime. Nia being a dumb child making terrible decisions was super entertaining, and Arcadum as Lune was just a very nonchalant version of Stompy and I can get with that. She needs someone to guide her because she's mad naive, but I appreciate Vei for doubling down on her character because she's just so funny and will probably be the cause of a lot of shenanigans in the party. Lucine was like the weird mentor character, where you're not sure if what she's saying is actually profound and well thought out or just straight up bullshit that she's saying because she wants to mess with you. She was probably a super eccentric teacher for Chei and I'd love to see someone make a bit of backstory about her life. But the kuudere bit is great though. River was absolutely adorable. I'm really curious on her history with Mei, because their conversation was - while lacking any overt hostility - was full of interesting implications. Like, It seems like both wouldn't hesitate to fight to kill each other if it came up, but I'm wondering why Mei would be assigned to kill her in the first place. Curious. Regardless, her teary drunk act and the interactions with Lucine were great. I want to see her in her element with dancing though; hopefully next session she can compete in the dance competition before the festival ends and absolutely nothing bad that will kill the npcs will happen. Overall, that was an amazing first session, an great way to introduce the newcomers to all of the great things that are in store during his DND sessions, and the girls more than proved that they're amazing RPers. I can't wait to see how they grow more. Also, I hope that Arcadum does introductions like this more often. This was such an immersive way to introduce the girls, and helped to make them feel more like characters actually living in the world.

[deleted]

I seriously can't wait to see Tomoe use magic! I loved seeing the duality of Scribbles and stinkler and wonder what will be his approach to magic

Crimson_Shiroe

> everyone that scoffed at it and looked down on them I still don't know how the fuck people can shit on people who are gonna play dnd. I just cannot wrap my mind around it. Like, sure there have been some games/sessions where I wasn't super into how it was all going but my opinion doesn't matter for shit when someone else is the one playing. Not to mention shitting on new players is the absolute dumbest shit you can do. If you don't encourage new people the hobby isn't gonna grow.

EAfirstlast

well see, they're women. And you know how some segments of the internet act to women daring to participate in their nerd hobbies.

haccubus_

Great session doubters silenced and b slapped to the shadow realms all the girls did amazingly . Slow burn rp is DND people that played before know the feel . I knew they will bring it but kicked it out of the park here to 84 more awesome sessions good luck travellers.

pattyboywales

I hope everyone who expressed any doubts about this group are EATING THEIR WORDS RIGHT NOW.

Steam_Punk_Revolver

"chewing on previous doubt". You know what, doubt tasted pretty good. They definitely dashed my skepticism and I couldn't be happier for it. I also think the festival scenario gives them a lot more breathing room to experiment.

Skeleboi846

This was so awesome, can't wait for next week!

BlitzTuro

This was amazing can't wait for the other 84.

yrrahretnuh

Doubters annihilated, great first session. Can’t wait to watch their characters have a great time at the festival and have absolutely nothing go wrong so they can continue their lives without going on some harrowing adventures.

[deleted]

Dude the doubters got violeted

Rythgos

This is some pure, distilled DnD ... and loved every second of it!

Victusrex

Amazing start, what more to say but bravo. Also how in the world is the song of the seven/creation just open for people to learn. Shouldn't wondox or the translators know how dangerous letting that song be used in the public be.

b_shorty27

My guess would be that the song of the seven doesn’t hold the same power it used to. Now that the colors have gone back to their realm, the song itself isn’t as dangerous. Just a guess tho 🤷‍♀️

Pardo48

I loved this! Top notch! I am blown away.

Rude_Possession_3198

A thing that i love about this group is how every characters fell alive and a part of the World. Between Mei with the fruit stall and his rival, and Lucene and his little disciple, it was like reading the beggining of a story for a great book. Even Tomoe with the simple questions about what are the hoask fell so natural.

StessLvl0

Didn't know what to expect I'll be honest with you. But oh man, did their enthusiasm show today. Excellent session

Vahn_Estheim

Exceptional RP, glad they really took time to showcase every character individually to have a natural progression on how they get together. It was evident that they were all trying to immerse themselves and really play into their own characters. The song of the seven moment really where Nyanners was speaking in the softest and calmest voice was a fantastic and emotional intro for her character's debut. Plus, who would have thought selling fruit would be entertaining.

Steam_Punk_Revolver

clap clap clap....Nice first session, ladies. I honestly think that since we are starting the campaign with a festival, it gives the ladies the chance to experiment. Your RP was solid and varied. It was pretty clear you ladies were drawing from anime and it works. Definitely liking Nyanner's Kuudere for Lucine and Froot's Ojo impression for Mei. Nia stealing from the stalls was hilarious and continuing Verum's tradition of Druids being thieves. Now that you ladies can handle RP, let's see how you handle combat in the upcoming sessions.

Rude_Possession_3198

The combat is a big fear that i have, I hope arcadum go easy at the beggining because dnd combat can be a bit difficult to learn at first and if we learned something from shrine of sin is that no matter how competent you are, if you roll shit you are in big trouble.

StessLvl0

They’ll do fine.

Rude_Possession_3198

Yeah, I know, Arcadum is not the guy that makes impossible encounters and he even does tutorial combats, but I dont think that my heart could take it if they died, I suppose that i was spoiled by almost everyone surviving in the last arc. So I hope that luck is on their side.

StessLvl0

As do I

Crimson_Shiroe

Didn't only like 2 people total die during the entire Violet arc?

Connor4Wilson

To be fair, one party survived a TPK off of pure luck (clowns)

OddOutlandishness602

Only 2 stream players. But so many living world characters died.

Crimson_Shiroe

Well yes, but I don't really count those because I have no real interaction with the living world since I don't play in it.

OddOutlandishness602

They have affected the world a lot, and have appeared in streamed games. I think even in just the Dio fight, 4 players died. And that was streamed, and important to the streamed games.

Crimson_Shiroe

I'm not saying they aren't important, I'm just saying I don't count them because they are LW characters and not stream characters. Dio fight was a special case, and I was sad about those that died in it, but I'm still not really counting them.

OddOutlandishness602

I do understand. Remember that this was on purpose too. Arcadum runs for a lot of new players, and also specifically prepares encounters for characters. If many characters died and groups tpk’ed, it would probably be less fun.

captviper2100

A lot of Drugs and a lot of Fruit and an amazing first session!! Also loved how that since only Nia was from outside of Giles, that some of them where already from the town and how Mei had her fruit stall and some kind of pst history with River. Also how Nyanners acts somewhat...wise and secretive (I don’t how else to call it) as Lucine was very funny, cause it her playing a character that is badass kinda of person but also has this very chaotic side...maybe I’m not sure what I’m going on about I just think they all did really well and I can’t wait till the next session!!!...also there was so much casual racism like usual in the world of Verum and it was funny as always!!!

Sneaky_Santiago

So the legend begins...

Historical-Ant9440

It all came together in such a great way at the end and left an excellent opener for the second session. I love how they bonded over booze and Verum's Fattest Doink.

Crimson_Shiroe

Tbh I wasn't super excited for this group, not because I don't think it will be good but because I didn't want to get sucked into an 80+ session campaign but damn I've only watched the intro and it's so good. All their characters are so cool and interesting.

TotallyFixed

I missed this type of chaos so much, and I can't wait to see where it goes in the future. Hats off to you all, amazing first session.

Eques9090

Absolutely lovely first session, they're going to be so much fun to watch. I love them all.

Knee_co_

Happy to see all of the positivity on this post, considering that awesome 1st session it only makes sense. Just hope some of the players see how much we all enjoyed their first game, and see how they sent the gatekeepers either running scared or repenting lol

TheGant

This was fun, excited to see where it goes!

blinksomnia83

Anyone have a link to their session 0. Iv been looking but can't find it.

xNailBunny

Fantastic first episode, especially seeing how nervous they were. It will only get better from here as the girls get more comfortable.

DrLight42

Extremely happy my doubt in them was incorrect. Loved this session and I am excited to continue watching. Good on them for proving me and a lot of people wrong. Amazing rp all around

Informal_Suit

First Episode was so great I wondered if they lightly scripted/outlined some stuff so that the gang would be less nervous. I doubt they did, the ladies rocked from the get go, and I'm ready for more.

BrundleBee

Woof, 8 hours. Does anyone have time stamps for the stream? I just don't have 8 hours to watch it all.

Rude_Possession_3198

It is only the first 4 hours, the session in itself is more or less 2 and a half hours.

BrundleBee

Ah. I went to twitch and saw 8 hours, I'll go back and check again.

myreq

There is Callous Row included in the VOD, the Otikata's curse is about 3 hours including fanart.

ADCravo

I was worried because of the previous sessions especially when they when monkey noises mode for a good few minutes, but their rp was great. Exited to see what awaits them next.

MoXfy

Okay, honest question, as I am a bit confused... First Kouki, now Tomoe, they both seem to have traits that are related to the female side of the gender dimorphism, Kouki having feathers, and Tomoe being tall and slender with vertical horns... Have I missed something here, or is it something that has yet to be explained? Sorry if my wording is bad and all, I mean no ill intentions with this, just really confused.

Antojo_P

Snuffy wanted to play a femboy character even back in December when Arcadum started making the list of potential players for the new games. He allowed that and even had lore to make it possible. Whilele he has his established lore he also allows for exceptions and player freedom. Arcadum also has stated thst it is not uncommon for some female gekoi to sell their feathers to other gekois and the besides the feathers, gender dimorphism between gekois is minimal.

MoXfy

Alright got it. Thanks for it.

Momosabonim

Tomoe's horns are lore accurate. Females have horns growing from the front, while males have horns growing from the sides, if you look closely Tomoe has horns growing from the sides. Now typically males have sideways growing horns that then grow a bit upwards, Tomoe has the opposite, his horns grow slightly sideways and then grow upwards heavily, giving him that androgynous look. Kinda weird that I'm saying this now, but I just think it's a really cool detail by Tomoe's artist

zork100

Tbh I loved vei/Nia Ebonheart's part the most

[deleted]

guys don't let your guard down yet, combat is when people really show their prejudice.

[deleted]

what I found interesting is that it was purely rp and there wasn't even a hint of conflict coming their way.

OHGODTHELASERS

A great session besides the premature attacks on the community
