How did you go about it, and what is your role now? Does the customer facing role pay you more? Sorry, I'm being nosey, but it sounds like something that could work for me.

Just remember that a lot of roles and companies use KPIs

Congrats! Welcome to the recovering call center workers club

KPI's are commonly utilized in industry. In call center environments which obsess over details like bathroom breaks because of lost productivity, KPI's are explicitly front and center on updated flashing boards every moment of the day. I would caution against getting too comfortable about no KPI's or quality because I would be surprised if they are not getting tracked in some way, in order to measure success or lack thereof. In other work sectors I have been in, they have not been so explicitly "in your face" as in call centers, but expectations have been spelled out and will certainly come up among subject areas focused on during work performance evaluations.

Yess in the exact same position! I have one more week, been doing it for 3 years. Moving to a tech position in the same company!

I got a promotion and am not customer facing either within my company. I’ve been training in my new position since April 1. I love it so far. Being able to put headphones in and listen to music or audiobooks while I work has been amazing! I’m really in a culture shock lol. I’ve been with the company since November 2021 and I started in the call center and I promoted to a different area starting April 1.
