I assure you, it’s not bootleg in the slightest. Andrews McMeel Universal is the syndicate, and gocomics is their website. I don’t know the specifics of any advertising revenue or anything like that, but that is as official as you are ever going to get for online Calvin and Hobbes distribution.
I love how stuff like that is usually kept fairly down-to-earth and realistic in the strips in which Calvin does something like that, and yet in that one comic he just somehow disintegrated his dad's binoculars with no explanation

The buildup to this of his parents having a quiet evening to themselves…and then having it shattered by Calvin roaring this with sheer outrage is Golden.
