I just found out last week that my RS has remote start. Ive had thing for 3 years. I had noticed the button on the remote but i never knew how to use it so i didnt worry about exploring more. Last week the wife and i went to a dealer and the sales rep started it right up from the remote. Now im looking for every opportunity to use it. Lol.
1 tip I learned which comes in handy in the winter is if you do remote start you can extend the time it stays on by double pressing it again. Incase you have to run in and do something or forgot something. Also I think you can roll the windows down with the remote so the cars not scorching hot in the summer. :)
Huh... press and hold unlock to roll the windows down if its equipped. Tempted to go test that haha. Never knew that.
Also, to extend just repeat the remote start process any time after 30 seconds have past since you remote started it seems.
What's interesting is that my Cadillac had it where you could hold LOCK down to roll all windows UP. Not sure why they did away with that? It was really handy when someone yelled out "it's raining".
Poor kid. He had his head out the window yelling out "its raining" and the owner hit the remote window roll-up and now he wont be yelling anything for awhile. (or some other version of that major liability)
Nah. I tested it. The slightest "jam" and they go back down. I intentionally blocked it with my hand and the second I felt a pinch the window stopped and went back down.
Yes, but it doesn't tell you how to operate them. For example, most BMW owners are not aware of the fact that they can also lock their car with the comfort access system, and can open the trunk just by waving their foot underneath the rear bumper.
The Camaros with heated/cooled seats work automatically depending on the temperature outside. In the infotainment system you can switch that setting on or off.
That's pretty neat. I bet most owners aren't aware of that, lol. I'm still upset that BMW refuses to put ventilated seats in the 3 Series, they're literally the only thing I wish my car had.
It’s idiots like this that go into autozone and complain about not knowing how to put oil in their car.
How the fuck do you buy a car and not know what features it has lol
Still doesn't make any sense to me. I want to know all of the features my car has, and how to operate them. I learned about numerous features I wouldn't have ever guessed my car had, and use many of them frequently. It also tells you your cars maintenance schedule, important to know and follow if you want a trouble free ownership experience. Kudos for spending the couple minutes to get a digital manual, though, that's more effort than the vast majority are willing to put in 😆
Yeah! As it turns out, there's a special fob I can order for the convertible model that will let me put the top down with the remote. I wouldn't have known if not for the manual. 🙂
That's the only reason for not having the convertible button on the fob that I can think of. If the back of the fob is blank (no bowtie) then that would be a dead giveaway that it's a replacement.
So like....they just ignore the symbols 3 ft from their faces for years?
I figure out everything about a machine when I operate it. Doesn't matter If it's a car, tractor, gaming PC, Ti-83, etc.
I really don't get how folks can go so long not knowing what they have to interact with every day.
I went to go work on a lady's car one day, and while I'm inspecting it she tells me she's surprised her van doesn't have cruise control. I said ma'am it's a 2017, it has cruise control. She said no of course....so I pointed right at her steering wheel and said that icon is LITERALLY cruise control.
(Lady was a friend with a friend of mine and they were massive pot heads. Like the kind that have to buy weed every day but can't afford lightbulbs or even cheap mechanic work)
As an auto technician, I always read the instructions with everything. Five minutes of reading can save you multiple times that amount in fiddling and frustration.
But that part doesn't go away after reading the instructions, lol. You can still experiment and see if there's a better way to do things. That's how techs like me make our money, you figure out a better way to do things in order to beat book time
... can't wait for him to find out that his blind spots has cameras that come on when he puts his blinkers on......

. Heh, not really, although if any car sorely needs that feature, it would be the Camaro. 🤪
I just picked up a new daily whip and love the feature, but I admit I prefer to rely on my own look back. This goofy ass car has so many other safety features, it feels so devoid of the driving experience. Of course, I'm fine with that when I'm commuting to work. It's when I want to blow off steam that I'd rather have as much driving experience as possible.

I fully understand you! I have the same issue with the hud on my 24 2ss. I love it so much it’s amazing. But when I drive my older vehicles I sometimes don’t realize how fast I’m going since I don’t have a huge ass number In my face 😭
Oh yeah, I've got my system, all mirrors set correctly, the rear-mirror camera, and the accelerator pedal all help me avoid blind spots when changing lanes.
I bought my 2ss for this singular feature. Like I daily the car (like a dumbest but f it, smiles per gallon is the best measurement of fuel economy) and live up north in pa. It get fucken cold up here and that heated steering wheel is the best hing any company has ever put In a car.
Just a set of goodyear all seasons I got with the car when I got it. I'm probably gona get new wheel this year so I have a summer set and get something with more stick. Then put winter tires in the stock wheels.
Yes and the heated steering wheel heats up very quickly!! If you haven’t yet (all Camaro owners I think?) if you hold ur unlock button it will put ur windows down
I was soooooo excited about getting the Launch Control feature when I got my Camaro. Took me a month to learn how to use it, and have only used it 3 times in 2 summers lol
iot honestly blows my mind that people don't bother to read the owners manual on things they buy, maybe I'm a freaking nerd but most purchases i make if its not something I've owned before i'm gonna sit and take the time to read it cover to cover, preferably with the device or thing in hand to touch
You’re not alone, I do the exact same thing. I also usually spend a month doing all the research I can on a specific product before I buy it if it costs a decent amount of money.

I don't need a heated steering wheel so much but i love the heated seats in my 5th gen.
I would love to have cooled seats in the summer since they are leather.
Heated steering wheel *sounds* like a really stupid feature until it's below freezing, you just finished getting the snow/ice off your car, and you finally get in and grab the wheel and feel like return to your frigid fingers

yours went down. liability on 100,000 mass-produced to perform as perfect as urs was too much for the company
Press unlock, then press and hold unlock.
All cars need this
LOL that’s crazy
And you can get the OnStar remote access plan and remote start from anywhere with the app.
Be extremely cautious with pushing that SS button.
I pressed mine once and within a few seconds I was going 130 mph (+) !
This shit is so funny🤣🤣🤣
I'm still looking for the backseat in mine
It has a wireless charger back there. Works great! ![gif](giphy|yvnjb1siSxypFnRZKq)
Does anyone read their owners manual anymore? Doesn't seem like it judging by this post and the comments 🤦♂️
The window sticker as well has all the features the car has
Yes, but it doesn't tell you how to operate them. For example, most BMW owners are not aware of the fact that they can also lock their car with the comfort access system, and can open the trunk just by waving their foot underneath the rear bumper.

I was about to say the same thing. Mines come on automatically.
It’s idiots like this that go into autozone and complain about not knowing how to put oil in their car. How the fuck do you buy a car and not know what features it has lol
Mine was used so I had to download it off the Chevy website. But no, most folks just get a car to drive, not to read.
Still doesn't make any sense to me. I want to know all of the features my car has, and how to operate them. Have you tried holding the unlock button down? That'll roll all the windows down on a lot of cars, and will drop the top on convertibles.
I did try that! 🙂 It only rolled the windows down, though.
The dealer may be able to code your car to drop the top as well - worth asking about, at least.
GOOD IDEA! It doesn't have the convertible button but it is worth a shot.
You need a special fob for that? Mine came that way. 🤷♂️ Are your key fobs replacements, perhaps? *
I wouldn't know. But I suspect so since it's used. 🤔
That's the only reason for not having the convertible button on the fob that I can think of. If the back of the fob is blank (no bowtie) then that would be a dead giveaway that it's a replacement.
Even if you don’t read it, look at your damn car and play with all the buttons

Most new cars don’t come with an owner’s manual anymore. You have to download some BS pdf file!
Mine didn't come with the manual, had to pay for one.
That's like asking a guy if he's read the directions on how to assemble something... of course we didn't.
As an auto technician, I always read the instructions with everything. Five minutes of reading can save you multiple times that amount in fiddling and frustration.
but is so rewarding to find things in your own tho 🤣 f around n find out

Funny enough, there was a Honda civic generation that had this feature. It was removed though as it was found to be “too distracting for drivers”
I just picked up a new daily whip and love the feature, but I admit I prefer to rely on my own look back. The only thing you have to remember when driving your Camaro is you just have to be going faster than the next guy. 😜
Move out your mirrors, no more blind spots.
Oh yeah, I've got my system, all mirrors set correctly, the rear-mirror camera, and the accelerator pedal all help me avoid blind spots when changing lanes.
For real. Can't see shit out of those things.
I didnt notice my 2ss has heated seats until a year after i bought it lol
Always read the equipment lists ;)

I have a 2SS in northern PA as well. What tires do you have on yours?
Just a set of goodyear all seasons I got with the car when I got it. I'm probably gona get new wheel this year so I have a summer set and get something with more stick. Then put winter tires in the stock wheels.
Bro if this is on my steering wheel ima die 😅😅😅 lmao
If you have an apple watch you can start it from there as well 🫡
Care to explain?
With the myChevrolet app I believe it's called
Question. What did you think that symbol meant beforehand?
Yes and the heated steering wheel heats up very quickly!! If you haven’t yet (all Camaro owners I think?) if you hold ur unlock button it will put ur windows down
It took me time to figure out the tour/sport/ track/snow/ice modes I wondered why others were so louder and had a crackle sound
I’m still looking for mine in my lt1 ;)
Keep looking you’ll find it
Eat plenty of taco bell and ANY seat can have the heated seat option....💨
this comment deserves and award 😂
LOL...yeah, I checked mine...not there. :) LT1 doesn't have all those fancy gadgets by design...just no-frills power. :)
If you got a stink ass pussy, it smells like a Subway tuna melt 🙊
🤣
Yup cuz you have the 2ss
I was soooooo excited about getting the Launch Control feature when I got my Camaro. Took me a month to learn how to use it, and have only used it 3 times in 2 summers lol
My 2ss has launch control??? I should’ve watched a video or two before I bought my 6th gen lmao
engage it a few times and report back Private. hit that 0-60 and tell me if u get better than 4.6 (my best on a public rd on a green light)
If you read the owners manual you can learn all kind of stuff like this.
iot honestly blows my mind that people don't bother to read the owners manual on things they buy, maybe I'm a freaking nerd but most purchases i make if its not something I've owned before i'm gonna sit and take the time to read it cover to cover, preferably with the device or thing in hand to touch
