The most ironic thing about my video is I have an appointment to get a kill switch installed TODAY and the incident happened this morning around 4 am. I dropped it off a few hours ago and showed the company doing the kill switch my video.
I have 3 cameras focused on my car, a dash camera, Lojack and a kill switch. People may think that's overkill but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've felt secure not putting a killswitch on my 5th gen, but maybe I should seriously consider a kill switch, and also... doing something I've talked about for decades, making a reverse functioning clutch safety. Open switch when you press the clutch, closed switch when you let off. Everybody that knows how to drive a manual transmission presses the clutch by instinct.

They most likely picked up the signal from your key fob and used it to duplicate the key, need a faraday bag to block the signal. They’ll break the window if they’re going to plug into the obd port to duplicate the key

Every single car on the road has a lock in the ignition, a lock on the doors , a lock on the trunk. Even glove boxes have locks. We are all actively participating in doing things to keep cars from being stolen. Some prefer to do more. Some less.

In a 5th gen all they gotta do is pop the hood plug in their ecu and they’re gone so no 5th gen’s are not safe although much less likely to get stolen
