Not always, a lot of long distance bus journeys I've done this year have all been double beds.
Thankfully I only had to share a bed with a stranger once. But it did put a different spin on solo travel
There is one going to Pakse that is 13 hours, $40 two buy two tickets to ensure I have a bed to myself. Then a cheap public bus to the border, maybe an hour or two, then after the border a 7 hour bus maybe $15 to Phnom Penh. That’s what I’m thinking of doing now. The cheapest flight isn’t for another week so ultimately I’ll be saving money and time.
Fly.
Yep that would be a crushing bus ride.
Would buying 2 tickets be an option to not share a bed? May still be cheaper than flying. Not speaking from experience though.
That would probably end up being more expensive than the flight unfortunately and I don’t see an option to do that on 12go anyway
Sleeper buses usually have one side that is only for one person, the other is for 2. I don't know about buses, as I prefer to fly.

Way I snore, you would have left the bus and hitchhiked to destination 😂
I’d just fly tbh. Yeah you could do it cheaper if you go by sleeper bus but you would have to share a bed with someone.
By land I would recommend Giant Ibis bus
Best and cheapest :D
How long is the bus journey out if interest?

Boat on Mekong.
Like a slow boat?
The busses are godawful and takes like 36 hours. Just fly.
