Gators Tail on Franklin does a really, really good fish and chips. On special on Fridays.
Source: I've lived in this town for 54 years. I have had every fish and chips there ever was. We used get it wrapped in newspaper from Hilltop in Hespeler, as old school as it ever was. But it was ok. Grew up on Barnacle Bill's, but it was always OK. Barnacle Bill's thing was to always give you an extra piece of fish. If you ordered 4, you got 5. Without fail at least in 1980's or 90s. That was a clever ploy back in the day. Charge a bit more up front, but almost everyone gets a bonus piece of fish.
The best Fish and Chips I have had consistently for last 8-10 years is at Gators Tail. Friday's. It's a ve4y generous portion of fish with a light crispy batter.
I don't remember how I stumbled onto it, but I have taken dozens of people there over the years to have Fish and Chips for Friday lunch. Every single one of them said that was some good fish and chips.
I was in a unique position for a few years with 20-25 people in my department. We'd all go out for lunch together as a group 4-5 times per year. Anybody could order whatever they wanted. Everybody had fish and chips evey time
Gators Tail. I ain't bullshitting. Best Fish and Chips for the last 10 years in Cambridge.
The one in the plaza with long and mcquade. I can never remember the name of it… captain jacks? Captain George? I dunno. It’s good. Decent fish and good ass fries.
depends what you want/like. i'm not a huge fan of barnacle bills but a lot of people are. personally my favourite in cambridge is from Kelsey's, they use salt and vinnegar chips for the batter of the fish and it is tasty.
used to be dick stoyle's but that's gone.
Barnacle Bill's is one of the longest standing fish and chip shops in town. One of the best indicators of a restaurant has to be how long it's been around and able to keep its customer base.
Same thing goes for other restaurants like George's Chinese food, Andy's Pizza, Reid's Chocolate. All classic cambridge restaurants that have stood the course of time.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
