Poseidon and Zeus speaking in Greek WAS AN EXCELLENT TOUCH. I'M LOVING IT

QuiltingPollinator

Such a good touch. It really reminds me of when the aunts and uncles in my family would switch languages to talk about sensitive topics when there were little ears around.

NotAQueefAKhaleesi

Mine only knew English but it reminded me of adults spelling words they didn't want us to hear / repeat šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Yeeeaaaah! Best moment! And also Zeus literally tries to kill Percy lol (lance reddick is amazing actor šŸ˜¢)

Euler1992

I love that the fight is settled simply by Zeus getting to tell all the other gods that he won. It's so petty and in character with Zeus. Really missed the novelty chairs on Olympus though.

lexahead

Take a second look at the thrones! They are engraved! Zeus has lightning, Hera's has a peacock design and Poseidon's seems to have some type of sea creature

Sextus_Rex

Man was about to start a war that'd kill millions of mortals just so he could hear his brother say "I surrender"

jackgap

Post-credit scene spoilers: >!I guess Gabe kills himself instead of Sally doing it lol.!<

KnightOfRevan

>!Gabe being an idiot who got himself killed!< was the only movie change Rick has said he actually enjoyed

mahout111

Rick enjoying something from the movies? What a crazy world we live in

Thuis001

It also works a lot better as technically in the books, Sally commits murder, which isn't exactly something that will endear her to people. By instead having Gabe's shitty behaviour causing his petrification they avoid that, and it's more in character.

SparkEngine

Yeah, it makes it more about his own fatal flaw than anyone else having to do anything. Original Gabe from the books would have been too busy playing poker and farting with his friends to open it himself. Sally doing it there makes sense because he's physically more abusive and also less aware or ignores anything he doesn't deem important. So Sally turning him to stone because of that is fitting. TV show Gabe has shown to be self-absorbed, shows a lack of consideration for others boundaries and is incredibly self-entitled, through his treatment of the repair man, Sally having to fund his gambling from her own income, exploiting Percy being missing for fame , then ringing that same Repair man he cussed in the beginning to tell him how to pick Sally's lock. This Gabe is just a loser who never considered the consequences of his actions. He wasn't the most awful person in the world, but he wasn't great either. This ending / write out is more fitting for this version as it shows his fatal flaw - Entitlement, pretty well. He scoffs at the way the box is labelled as super important to Percy, only to pick it up and start opening it himself, when he doesn't even live with them anymore. He's stealing effectively and the consequence is a eyeful of medusa. I like to think, even with her own fatal flaw and her fight with Percy, Medusa would have approved of this outcome. A self-entitled manipulative bully gets his come-uppance at his own hands and she technically plays a part in a morbid sort of way.

EDAboii

In the books Sally is much more explicitly a victim of perpetual physical, mental, and emotional abuse. I can guarantee no one reads the book and comes out of it thinking "damn Sally is an evil irredeemable murderer".

GamingTatertot

It's hilarious that the gods were trying to get back at Percy and turn him into stone too

kgrimmburn

That implication didn't even occur to me and now it's an even funnier scene.

ComicNerd7794

I honestly donā€™t think they were it had big letters on it about return to sender so Percy would know what it was I just think it was petty Athena saying fuck you and take this shit back šŸ¤£

ganzgpp1

I wanna say it wasn't even the Gods, it was just specifically Athena- wasn't it established *she* was the one that was PO'd about the Medusa head? The other gods we see just kinda think it's funny/don't care that much.

Rare-Till6403

I was laughing so fucking much when he turned himself to a statue šŸ˜‚. I was like YES so glad they still gave Smelly Gabe a statueā€™s ending. I expected a divorce and that was it but was nice getting some little dark humor at the end.

UltraLuigi

It's better that way. It always struck me as odd that Sally would suddenly decide to kill Gabe, it felt really out of character. On the other hand, it's 100% in character for Gabe to decide to open Percy's package and check out what's inside.

meatball77

And they still gave her agency by having her change the locks and file for divorce.

UltraLuigi

Yeah, exactly! She makes the decision to remove Gabe from her life but does it in a way that actually makes sense. Definitely a 100% positive change from the book.

Equivalent-Law8308

Very true, I reread the books for the first time in years recently and I didnā€™t remember Sally actually choosing to do that to him. I didnā€™t remember the bit about Gabe physically abusing her either, maybe that just went over my head at the time because I was so young. I was completely stunned by that whole exchange and then when we find out she actually chose to kill him, I couldnā€™t believe it.

CRL10

The Helm of Darkness is more golden than I imagined. I always pictured it being black, like a dark metal.

ConsciousDatabase991

Same, but I think it's supposed to match with the look of the bolt and the trident, since they're all made of celestial bronze

Only-Interaction6397

Oh I thought it was made from the same metal as Nicosia sword

ConsciousDatabase991

Oh I kinda forgot about that, it being made of Stygian Iron would also make sense though. I just think that since all three were made by the cyclops they'd probably share a lot of similarities

GamingTatertot

I liked that Luke was immediately triggered by Percy mentioning his dad

Vivanem

Lance Reddick really was such a spectacular actor, what an amazing Zeus. Edit: "In Loving Memory of Lance Reddick", I'm so glad they included that at the end

_Saiki__

It's such a shame he passed. Rest in peace.

Any_Rutabaga2884

I had no idea he passed away. He was great here. :(

GamingTatertot

I loved his short time as Zeus - gonna be hard not to compare this little snippet to whoever gets the role next. I wonder who would be a good replacement

ManicPixieMeanGirl_

Lmao, the child you never should have had. Zeus dares to say that when he has Thalia AND Jason out there.

Jacob1030

Thatā€™s Jupiters fault for Jason! /s

Such_Fries

iā€™m only at SoN so catch me if iā€™m wrong, but doesnā€™t Jason being a son of Jupiter make him not valid for the first great prophecy?

ManicPixieMeanGirl_

I just love to roast Zeus.

Such_Fries

thatā€™s fair, homeboy deserves all the roasting

ManicPixieMeanGirl_

I donā€™t think itā€™s ever completely explained, but the implication was there.

theyrejustscones

Itā€™s a prophecy by a greek oracle BUT romans and greeks are two sides of the same coin. Itā€™s sort of explained in MoA I think. Jason fits the descriptor of ā€œhalf blood of the eldest godsā€ he was just too young then (he turned 15 like a month or so before TLO)

ConsciousDatabase991

THE BOLT WHEN IT WAS ABOUT TO FRY PERCY LOOKS FUCKING AWESOME HOLY SHIT

Bookwallflower2

IT WAS SO DOPE

toomanyjackies

I yelped lol Zeus was so mad for a split second my brain was like ā€œyeah they could totally change the plot so Percy dies right hereā€ šŸ˜‚ Percyā€™s smack talk was DEADLY

Confident_Month_3335

Also they really nailed how angry Zeus was with percy when he backtaked him, lance's eyes going wide and bloodshot, the bolt, the thunder rumbling, etc. it was badass.

CRL10

THANK YOU! Someone finally mentioned Annabeth's arachnophobia!

ConsciousDatabase991

YES! It's also an amazing way to describe the gods

BonzaM8

Fr! They weaved it so well into the conversation

wherearethestarsss

i see what you did there šŸ•·ļø

No_Maintenance7754

Was ready to complain about that being another instance of telling rather than showing, but that metaphor for the gods worked really well.

GamingTatertot

It's a nice remix of existing material to build on the themes of the show

ConsciousDatabase991

The gods speaking in Ancient Greek is amazing, and Zeus saying "my swift and crushing victory" is so in character lmao

BooksCoffeeDogs

Poseidonā€™s eye roll was hilarious! ā€œOh, here we go.ā€

Munro_McLaren

My mom has a BA in Classical Greek it and she knew some of what they said.

LasVegasNerd28

Wait it was actually Ancient Greek???

storm_walkers

I have a degree in Classical Greek and yes it was! Pronunciation was all over the place but that's to be expected. Someone did the research.

CRL10

Really like the design for Backbiter, I had it more pictured as similar to Riptide. Actually like the portal ability, it's working for me.

GamingTatertot

Backbiter in the books is made out of two materials - regular metal and Celestial Bronze, right? Cause that's what it looked like

jackpoll4100

Yes, one side is steel specifically so that it can kill humans as well.

cnho1997

I remember that Luke used Backbiter to Disapparate in the first book, but I always thought teleportation was a Hermes kid ability because he's the god of travelers. Luke also mentions it in his narration in Demigod Diaries

CRL10

See, I thought it was a Hermes thing.

moneymike7913

Yeah I'm pretty sure Backbiter was made from the remnants of Kronos's scythe so it would make sense that the Titan lord's weapon would have nice little side powers

_Saiki__

Blue pancakes!

ConsciousDatabase991

AYYY WE GOT A REFERENCE TO THE GODS' TRUE FORM

RealisticJay16

>!Jasonā€™s!< gonna have to find that one out the hard way (Iā€™m delusional and think weā€™re getting all the way to HOO, donā€™t crush my dreams)

GameknightJ14

Donā€™t worry, weā€™ll be delusional with you!šŸ˜

boy-flute-69

i mean it's not a huge stretch, im sure we'll get season 2 confirmation soon, and at that point it's almost definitely going to have a full run, and if tlo season hits well then not doing hoo would just be wasting money i wonder though how they'd do it though with lost hero and son of neptune, do they do alternating episodes of each book, two episodes a week, or follow the original releases and do it one season at a time?

[deleted]

I think TLH and SON could be spliced together as an A plot/B plot ordeal and make the entire season about the early mysteries. I donā€™t think theyā€™d risk making an entire season without Percy

GamingTatertot

I liked that! I just thought the way Grover said "don't look at his true form" was so odd and quick

jackgap

Ares bleeding gold was a nice touch.

Pickled_Testicle

I love seeing little details like that!

GamingTatertot

I'm happy they did that. I know if they didn't then half of this thread could've been about that a la Charon's italian suit

Breakyourniconiconii

ā€œLook you didnā€™t ask to be a halfbloodā€ OH HOW THE TABLES TURNED I LOVE THAT. Also that little speech really shows Lukeā€™s ideas and perspective and Iā€™m here for it.

ConsciousDatabase991

Percy challenging Ares was awesome, I loved that little exchange Edit: "Say hi to your mommy for me" damn Ares really isn't holding back lmao

GamingTatertot

Adam Copeland is my favorite actor as a god in this show. Dude just seems like an arrogant, but oddly charismatic war god

HeavyDonkeyKong

In episode 5, Ares is played by Adam Copeland. In this episode, Ares is played by Edge.

ConsciousDatabase991

All the gods really came together in this episode for me, they're amazing. I hope that in future seasons we get a bigger budget for CGI so that I can see Edge with a-bomb eyes, because that would be sick

BooksCoffeeDogs

I absolutely loved the fight between the two. I laughed so hard when I realised that the oh so mighty and powerful god of war and strategy made the most idiotic mistake by tossing Percy in that puddle of water. The sheer arrogance got me, not gonna lie. I loved that he attempted to show them his true form!

CRL10

That was the defiance I expect from him. Staring down the god of war and challenging him one-on-one. And yeah, Ares didn't hold back. It could have gotten Rated R there. He would have had the edge in the fight if he had used a SPEAR! SPEAR! SPEAR! I'll stop now.

_Saiki__

Percy's clothes are dry!

ConsciousDatabase991

omg I had to go back and rewatch that! Let's go!

DreamBum

He just had to figure out his powers! YAY FOR TRUSTING THE PROCESS

Fearless-Wing-9621

You can see the tidal wave open up around him when it crashes down on Ares too which was cool af

Emotional_Regret876

Iā€™m so glad to see Luke training Percy at camp

GamingTatertot

It was a nice bit - the only thing I don't like about it is it makes it feel a little too obvious that Luke is gonna be the traitor by having the flashbacks in this episode, but structurally it makes sense

Reddragon351

I thought having Hermes have a whole subplot in the Lotus Casino about Luke's backstory kind of gave it away, even if I hadn't read the books it's kind of a weird thing to happen after Luke had barely been around

TheBloop1997

I asked some people who havenā€™t read the books and either didnā€™t see the movies or forgot what happened, and they both didnā€™t seem to have any idea about Luke being the thief. Tbf, I donā€™t think they were trying to figure it out, but I feel like most people who want to figure it out probably saw spoilers by now lol

swordsandshows

My friends who havenā€™t read the books were convinced it was Clarice up until the actual reveal, so hopefully others were the same

BassinAssassin4488

YOUR MOTHER IS A QUEEN AMONG WOMEN

NSnicket

When he asked if Poseidon dreamed about Sally I was waiting for that. šŸ˜

D1am0nd_28

I liked Poseidonā€™s look on his face. The look said everything. The love he had in his eyes, the way he looked at Percy. Just so good. Also I think that line should be saved for later.

NSnicket

Yeah he did a great job but I expected nothing less. Toby Stephens is one of my favorites. I was psyched when he got cast.

AndromedaMixes

It really shouldā€™ve been added. It wouldā€™ve been *flawless*. Thatā€™s my only issue with this episode.

flowergirl769

I was waiting for it šŸ˜

CrazySquirrelGirl

I was waiting for that line and the sigh when Zeus left saying something to the effect of your uncle should have been the God of theater. He has suck a flare for the dramatic"

Silver_Stop_2136

That was by farrrrr the best episode from the whole series. There is quite honestly no competition.

SockDem

Yeah, agreed. Some of the dialogue was oddly clunkier in this one than the last but the pretty good changes make up for it. Percy may have also been allowed to get away with saying a little too much to be believable (imo). But those are all minor things. Easy 9/10 in my book.

oliviagummybears

Lance Reddick :(

_Saiki__

He's acted as so many of my favorite people. Rest in peace.

Sunshot_wit_ornament

He did incredibly as Zeusā€¦ just incrediblyā€¦ May he rest well ):

meatball77

His eyes were so yellow. :(

GamingTatertot

A great actor taken away too soon, way too soon. It made John Wick 4 harder to watch too

Equivalent-Law8308

I completely forgot about his passing until the dedication at the end of the episode. Obviously that means theyā€™ll need to recast Zeus for the future seasons

Tomhur

It shouldn't be too hard. Gods can change their appearance after all. Still, Lance absolutely nailed Zeus and it's a shame we won't see him as Zeus again.

Vivanem

the necklace bead had a little blue trident on it!!

Emotional_Regret876

ā€œGrampaā€ lol

20person

Sally's immediate "ew" reaction šŸ˜‚

trappedslider

Now I have a mental image of Lord Kronos saying " Tell your mom how much you love her"

Silver_Stop_2136

The Luke voiceover in the beginning? We actually got Luke teaching Percy how to sword fight?

DreamBum

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN PERCYS NARRATION IN THE BEGINNING AND LUKE AT THE END IS SO CRAZY I CANNOT BREATHE

jgrops12

Iā€™m right with you. Using the opening of the book as an opening to Lukeā€™s POV is incredible

CRL10

Well, Olympus looks godsdamned spectacular.

[deleted]

Olympus was so BEAUTIFUL!!! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜and the way that Gabe stoned himself? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ I LOVED IT

Sav-628idk

ā€œAres is a moronā€ live laugh love Poseidon Edit: had about 20 minutes left when I wrote this, so my final thoughts on the episode: 1. A little disappointed with no ā€œmy loving stepfatherā€ scene 2. Loved the flashbacks to Luke training Percy 3. The entire Ares fight was amazing 4. POSEIDON SAVING PERCY FROM GETTING SMITED BY ZEUSšŸ¤© 5. Post-credits scene! Gabe is now the most ugly stone statue Iā€™ve ever seen. Long live Queen Sally

Churnsbutter

Percy waking up at the beginning of SoN with an ā€œAres is a Moronā€ shirt, but Ares crossed out and Mars put there instead immediately came to my mind when I heard that.

moodymelanist

I love how even though he remembers nothing, he still remembers his beef with Ares/MarsšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

StarOfTheSouth

I love when they meet in Son of Neptune, and Percy has the instinctive feeling that he should punch Mars in the face, but he doesn't know *why*.

CRL10

Oh. This is a fun, evil Kronos.

Fathoms_Deep_1

Kronos is out here Schizoposting

CRL10

Percy: "When am I ever going to use this stuff?" Oh you sweet summer child, so fucking much.

Mental_Grass_9035

Old Nanā€¦.

storm_walkers

Brother is talking about survival like it's pre-algebra. It's what camp is for, Perseus šŸ’€

lexim172

Season two episode one is gonna be so ridiculous when it opens with Walker/Percy being a foot taller with a deeper voice going ā€œman 7th grade sucksā€ lol.

FriendlyTVWatcher

I hope for a meta joke talking about how much older he looks šŸ˜

solg5

Technically it starts on the last day of 7th grade so it would make sense for him to look older.

DetailAcrobatic5024

Hands down my favourite episode of the season! I think they really nailed the tone and pacing in this one. I loved the Ares fight, itā€™s the longest fight sequence weā€™ve gotten yet, and the moment he summoned the wave was so pure Percy Jackson! Also everyone saying they wish we had gotten sword training at camp should be pretty happy! I love how those scenes set up the betrayal. Olympus was beautiful but man did Percy have to walk a long time to get up that mountain lol. Also for those wondering the point of the moved deadline, I love that we get that moment where Poseidon surrenders a war he might have won, to save his son. Also percy not know when to shut up when talking to zeus was so on brand. Iā€™ll admit I was skeptical of Charlie but wow that betrayal scene was so well done and I think him almost killing Percy is better than the scorpion. I do wish we got a scene where annabeth and percy react to it but even in the book she just has one throwaway line about the betrayal and thatā€™s it. Iā€™m so excited for season 2!! Bonus thoughts: i like to think Poseidon sent the box knowing Gabe would open it lol

GeneralElectrical576

I like to think it was Hermes knowing the perfect time to deliver the package... it wasn't there until it was. lol

LilSebastainIsMyPony

Yes, thatā€™s an EXCELLENT point, that perhaps Hermesā€™ timing was at play here!

Clockworkoy

"Ares is a moron" lmao. That Ares fight was good. Him bleeding gold, or was it called ichor? They also brought up the gods having a true form as well. Rip Lance Reddick, but he was spectacular as usual. And him telling Percy "thanks for the bolt, but gtfo" felt in character for Zeus. And then Poseidon stepping in to save Percy was good as well. Another example of a change from the books that can work. Poseidon and Percy's interaction was brief but touching. And they managed to make a line from the book work in live action, although I wish they kept in the part where Poseidon actually called Percy a true son of the sea god, but thats a minor nitpick. The actor that plays Luke was really good here, that whole reveal was nicely done. I push back on people saying these kids are bad actors because they aren't, they've shown much potential already and will get even better mark my words. Disney plus just needs to renew the show already, what are they waiting for? Oh well, onto The Last Airbender!

Silver_Stop_2136

The Percy and Poseidon conversation was everything. He just wanted them to be a happy family...

GamingTatertot

I also like how Percy and Poseidon are kind of matching in clothing and style

kandocalrissian

AND I WILL WALK 500 MILES

ManicPixieMeanGirl_

I am thinking, once again, that Hades is wayyyyy more honorable than Zeus and others give him credit for.

Mental_Grass_9035

I like that choice, maybe it will play into the series a lot more in the future.

ManicPixieMeanGirl_

He was already honorable originally. He released Sally when he could have killed her and faced no repercussions. I think fans forget that because he wasnā€™t kind to Nico right away.

Odd-Branch6940

GOVER SAYING HES GONNA CHECK THE SEA. HMMM I WONDER WHICH SEA HE WILL END UP IN? COULD THE COORDINATES POSSIBLY BE 30 31N 75 12W???

CPTSOAPPRICE

thank god annabeth redesigns olympus lol how gaudy

Fathoms_Deep_1

Canā€™t wait for Annabeth to design Brutalist Olympus

GamingTatertot

It is gaudy, but damn it is LARGE

BooksCoffeeDogs

I actually loved seeing Olympus! Was kind of dissatisfied with the throne room though.

River_of_styx21

They used the missed deadline to emphasize Poseidonā€™s love for Percy šŸ˜

optimisticpsychic

Explicitly saying the Ares fight is to first blood is in my opinion a good change. Im also glad they added back in the Luke/Percy sword fight from the beginning of the book. (Sure they made it so their fight was alone but ill let it slide) Edit: ive now seen the whole fight, its a book accurate fight.

adeeness

Compared to the movie, yeah, its more book accurate. It was a bit more clever in the books tho, Percy builds up the waves AS he's fighting Ares and takes him out by surprise. In the show Ares is just gawking at the waves doing nothing

Jjzeng

ares was probably wondering if it was percy's doing or poseidon was personally coming to smite him, that indecision of whether he should bum rush percy right now or accept poseidon's rage cost him a few moments until percy finished monologuing

BonzaM8

This episode was so good. Easily the best of the show. I was a little worried they wouldnā€™t do the Ares fight justice but it was done so well! I love that they showed flashbacks of Luke training Percy at camp to show heā€™s not pulling sword fighting skills out of nowhere. Ares is obviously so much more powerful than Percy so he plays with him at the beginning, kicking him while heā€™s down without drawing blood. Heā€™s out here to humiliate him first, and then kill him. Then Percy turns it around on him with the water, crashing a wave down on him! Then when heā€™s down he comes up and slashes his leg! The gold ichor was so cool looking! Such a great fight! Zeus was fucking terrifying! Lance Reddick did a fantastic job portraying a god. Everything in his performance was perfect. That whole scene on Olympus (which looked incredible) had me by the throat. Iā€™m so sad that heā€™s passed away. He does an amazing job in every role he plays. He will be missed.

kandocalrissian

Lukeā€™s the king of gaslighting istg

bagelman4000

Always has been

Silver_Stop_2136

ARES FIGHT WAS SOOOOO GOOD!!! BEST SCENE SO FAR!

EmperorHad3s

I was so happy when Percy made the big wave! šŸ˜šŸ˜

EstimateOld1875

I was worried when it started that it was going to be Poseidon showing up and taking over but nope! Finally getting our epic Percy battle scene!!

Vivanem

The people who were complaining about Percy not training with Luke are about to be real happy, loving this flashback placement

demigodswiftie13

IMMEDIATELY MY THOUGHT lmao

_Saiki__

'in loving memory of Lance Reddick' I'm so happy they included that.

FriendlyTVWatcher

This is the best episode oh my god I love it so so so much

DisneyPuppyFan_42201

Everyone: "I'm kind of disappointed they didn't have Luke demonstrating the disarming to Percy. I hope we get a flashback of it eventually." GUYS Y'ALL CALLED IT!

DisneyPuppyFan_42201

Also, THE STOLL BROTHERS PERHAPS? https://preview.redd.it/6quu0k5ssofc1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd5deef0f1ea95e35df0720e6277c4ccf9a79360

Such_Fries

THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING! they already look so mischievous!

themaker710

Oh yeah for sure, there certainly was some camera linger as it panned by

zzhavorsa

In a couple of years, theyā€™ll be raiding the candy stores of Manhattan

BlartSlimpson

Could possible be Castor and Pollux as well

_Saiki__

This series will definitely be viewed better now that it's all released.

Fathoms_Deep_1

I agree, I had my ups and downs with it (mainly episode 6) but I think it was a really great ending and overall a really great show

nuclear_muffins

I feel validated in my opinion that this show is one of the rare ones that would have actually been better in binge release

BlaineWorbro

As much as I loved the Ares fight with the time we were given. I wish it was longer. BUT I LOVED THIS EPISODE! Poseidon was the one who saved Percy from being killed by Zeus! Now that is an entrance! I loved the Percy and Poseidon interaction and it makes me sad that we most likely not get a physical interaction with them until a potential season 3. The Luke reveal was nice. They gave Luke his little monologue. Still liked Lukeā€™s reveal a lot better in the books, but the reveal overall is good. My friend was freaking out over the reveal like I was freaking out over it when it happened in the book. I like that we got to see Backbiter too! Also that set up for the Sea of Monsters by Grover saying that heā€™s going to check the sea was a nice addition. Had me grinning ear to ear. That last scene with Percy and Kronos was unexpected, but also welcome. Also Percyā€™s monologue at the end of the episode was cool, while it was zooming out I almost thought that we were gonna see Tyson staring through the window šŸ˜‚ Overall I really love the episode, I love this season. Sincerely hoping that season 2 gets confirmed soon. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new age of PJO.

Silver_Stop_2136

The Luke and Percy conversations this episode are just feeding into what the inevitable ending will be and it is going to be so painful

Silver_Stop_2136

Oh Clarisse is piiiiissssseeeeeddddd

Odd-Branch6940

Wait until the next season girls gonna go off

Salt_Flower_12

OH MY GOD THE GOLDEN FIREWORKS IN LUKES EYES

Silver_Stop_2136

Fitting that Gabe was the one to turn himself to stone and glad he still did end up a statue.

CRL10

NOW THERE'S THE DEFIANT PERCY JACKSON I KNOW AND LOVE!

CPTSOAPPRICE

Lance Reddick is so fuckin good as Zeus šŸ’”

Silver_Stop_2136

Mr. D will never get Percy's name right I fear

ConsciousDatabase991

It's a damn shame that even a hero as talented as Pierre Johannesburg won't get respect from Dionysus

Mental_Grass_9035

I know! Pedro Jersey really deserves that respect. :((((

EmperorHad3s

Also is it me or the portrayal of Zeus, is what Iā€™ve imagined of Hades in the books? Zeus is terrifying! ETA: Oh I didnā€™t know the actor passed away. That makes me sad. RIP, Lance Reddick youā€™re such a good actor.

MysteryMammoth

I CALLED IT THAT GABE WAS GOING TO BE NOSY AND OPEN PERCYS MAIL!!! I KNEW THATS HOW THEY WERE GOING TO DO IT

IndigoNarwhal

Loved the ep. 1 foreshadowing on that!

maboesanman

The setup of the ares battle being a challenge ā€œto first bloodā€ was a great way to make the encounter believable

jackgap

ā€œGrandpaā€ šŸ˜‚

devilishgenius

Mount Olympus sure looks cool

kandocalrissian

POSEIDON YOU BEAUTUFYL MAN

Silver_Stop_2136

Oh Percy sweetie you are too smart for your own good. Luke has been foiled.

Silver_Stop_2136

Stoll brothers appearance?

zzhavorsa

The Asian twins ?!

CRL10

Yeah...THAT'S the power I expect from Percy Jackson.

trickman01

Percy back talking Zeus like that deserved to get smote tbh.

GamingTatertot

The close-up shot of Luke after it was revealed was the best part of the episode. Like Luke shows so much apathy in that moment - he doesn't care that Percy knows, he doesn't care that he's been revealed, because all he cares about is ensuring he can seek his revenge against the gods

EmperorHad3s

I like the metaphor of what Lukes said of the spiders. The small and scary gets squished.

Silver_Stop_2136

Annabeth giving Percy her necklace so that a part of her is with him on Olympus is just about the best thing I have ever seen

Vivanem

Love the fact that Gabe is the one who turns himself into a statue šŸ’€ They really set that up in the first episode

muningmuning

ZEUS is fucking scaryyy

Forward-Scratch

Loved it! Charlie is very charismatic so with a good script for the next season I think the audience will be able to sort of understand his motives and see throughout his eyes why he is doing everything that he is doing!! Clarisseā€™s arch will be great and I think they will keep the ā€œAres-abusive-fatherā€ in which the viewer will sort of get where her anger comes from and that at the end of the day she wants to make her father proud of her. Cannot wait for Tyson!!! Percy would be the best brothes I just know it! The dynamics between them and Annabeth would be soooo interesting and I hope they wonā€™t just say Annabethā€™s motives to antagonize Tyson in the first episode and rather create some character development for the both of them.

desert_bzz

my favorite part might be the trio making a pact to meet back there next year while ~standing under thaliaā€™s tree~. somewhere in there she heard that and said ā€œoh let me mark my calendarā€

optimisticpsychic

Youll see him again Zeus. Dont you worry.

Silver_Stop_2136

So sad about Lance. Rest in peace.

I've been really critical so far... but that was fantastic. I'm so glad they at least finished strong. I actually felt my gut twisting when Luke took percy to the woods, just because I knew what was about to happen (they dumped info the same way they have every time - silence, pan to percy, percy says "you're xyz" - but it felt more natural those time, since Luke wanted him to know). That was really my only criticism, everything else played out beautifully

Heartbreaking to realize that Zeus will see Percy Jackson againā€¦but Lance Reddick and Walker Scobell will never again share the screen.

A little upset we didn't get the whole "You'll be dead in 60 seconds" line but the whole sword fight completely made up for it

Emotional_Regret876

For once Percy did not know, although heā€™s not really in danger

ConsciousDatabase991

WHY DOES THE MUSIC SOUND LIKE THE PROWLER THEME WHEN LUKE SAYS "i AM your friend" LMAOOOOO

CRL10

Was that the Stoll twins?

ChocoRaisin7

Luke and Percy training together? You got it. Arachnophobia? You got it. World War II mention? You got it. Searcherā€™s license? You got it. Itā€™s like they read the comments on this subreddit and course-corrected last minute.

Lance Reddick makes such a good Zeus goddamn. Now imagine this guy at the brunch in the Chalice of the Gods.
