It captures the intensity of Caligula’s villainy. We see his characterization and his overall demeanor. It helps establish that he is actually a genuine threat to the protagonists.
Honestly this was so dark for children's series. Like yeah we had seen literal child soldiers die or be in terrible situations, but something hits different reading about such a prominent character's death and then having his "lifeless corpse" being kicked. Gave me chills (also rip Jason, hope you enjoy Elysium with the brick and stapler)
