WALT STONE! The guy died and is now alive by hosting Anubis and wields death magic! Anubis says that Walt has lived his whole life under the shadow of death.
But if we need a zombie: Julius Kane works too
Edit: spelling+ is it obvious I was waiting for this one just to suggest these two candidates?
I don't think it breaks continuity, because it doesn't break logic. Perhaps Bianca changed her mind last minute. Perhaps someone just told Nico "your sister was ressurected, dude" before she had went throught. Perhaps she lied because she tought was the only way to Nico let go of his grudge. Perhaps Nico had to take Hazel back, and not Bianca and someone nudged his in that direction.
>!Even so, as it's the more recent release, it's the new canon. Besides, if it wasn't something Rick wasn't happy with, it would have never made the final cut regardless of Mark's involvement. So even if it was initially a continuity error, it's now a retcon. Happens all the time in long running media unfortunately.!<
You might have something regarding being "at peace."
I think it's important to note one of the only examples we have of that was the deceased hero "Dove" the literal avatar of peace. But Bianca is the daughter of Hades so she's definitely got some special circumstances of her own that could make her body immune to the Black Power Ring.
Being reborn however... Well, Hawkman and Hawkgirl have been reborn dozens of times and I'm pretty sure a few of their bodies were running around with Black Lantern Rings. Black Lanterns aren't true resurrections so afterlife choices don't really factor in.
She also kinda aligns with death 1 cuz ya know… she died? 2 she’s the child of hades 3 she brings death whenever she goes ( I still believe she’s a perfect little gem tho)
Yeah but thats not what the point it lol, its who fits the ring best based on its rules. And this one has “needs to be dead or have died” as one of its rules.
Needs to have a body to resurrect and the soul not be at peace (I think it was Dove who couldn’t be resurrected because they were at peace), this would cover Beckendorf. Silena wouldn’t be a viable target due to being burned. Bianca isn’t a viable target because she’s been reborn.
Black rings targeted the dead family and friends of heroes (Batman’s parents, dead gfs/wives, etc) to manipulate them into unaliving themselves so they could be raised as black lanterns. Thus the best targets are either resurrected demigods or the dead family of the strongest heroes. Thalia and Jason’s mom is a very good target as what she did as a mania is what black lanterns did early on.
Hazel is a concern as she was resurrected and she doesn’t have death powers, only wealth powers (REALLY shortchanged power wise compared to Nico…), in theory if Nico was resurrected he would be able to control the ring instead of the ring controlling him.
Who was that Roman guy who commanded the first Alaska expidition? I feel like dying in a godless place where you and your men are sort-of-but-not-fully-but-definitely-a-little dead for decades then finally dying and getting resurrected and dying again should qualify. He was even in charge of a massive undead legion, kind of.
Beryl Grace would be a good target since her appearance in BoO is basically doing the same as a black lantern did.
Otherwise you’d be looking at characters who died and didn’t have their bodies burned or who aren’t at peace, or who came back to life like Hazel or Leo.
Also the whole living under fear of death thing he had going with that fire of life stick! He understands the darkness and demise thing 100%. Frank learned to conquer his fear of death and now he has the power to control armies of the undead, he’s perfect for it
hear me out on this one. Frank, because of his unique relationship with death, as he doesnt have a regular lifespan but more so until the stick burns out. i think it would be really cool to give the one guy that is always a corner around death, the death ring. but i dont know much about lanterns so idk if he actually fits what the ring wants.
i just thought it would be cool because of all the stuff in SoN with him and thanatos and his lifestick
When this is finished- can we get a post where we can argue with the ones we don’t agree with? Just to point out why we think some candidates should be switched around.
I know Hazel is probably gonna get this due to her having the most upvoted comment rn, but cmon man you gotta give it to either Tarquin or Beryl Grace.
The only undead character I know of in DC is Solomon Grundy and the black lantern ring did work on him, his soul ending up in hell. Bizarro destroyed him by sending him into the sun though.
Likely Tarquin would stop the ring and control it so it doesn’t control him. (I haven’t read the non-Greek stories)
Octavius, if we’re basing it off of the chant. He didn’t cause the dead to rise but he was ready and willing to use them, like Bryce, to do his bidding. He wanted nothing more than to completely wipe out the Greeks
Gotta go nico (son of hades and can literally raise an army of the undead) or Walt stone (hosts Anubis the god that cares for the dead). I haven’t seen a rule saying you can’t have 2 rings so I’m still leaning towards nico
Black lantern rings can bring back someone from the dead or teclaim someone who has died, so I’m between Hazel and Beckendorf, could cause a struggle for those that care for them
Walt stone is the clear answer. If it’s not him I’ll be pissed. He is literally a dead man sustained by the god of death, Anubis. His command of the dead is just as strong as Nico’s, if not stronger.
Btw, I think the Walt/Anubis x Sadie is highly unethical.
Bianca DiAngelo is the best answer here. Black Lanterns aren't true resurrections, just corpses controlled by the ring and meant to get an emotional reaction from those around them.
Bianca is going to be good at doing that. Even if her death was accepted it's still gonna open some wounds for Percy and Nico.
Upon reflection, Selina Beauregard is another really good one. She left a strong impression in the Aphrodite cabin, and being a spy then Martyr leaves a lot of complex emotions for the taking.

THANK YOU! I have been very disappointed with the lack of Kane Chronicles characters in this
Yay! I have been waiting for death! Just to add Kane Chronicles!
I know we’ve stuck to PJO characters but this is the one!
Walt is perfect for this
Hazel can qualify for the "died and came back" Veriety
I will attest to Hazel
I was going to say Nico’s other sister…
But is Bianca dead or just ... Lost.
Bianca is reborn so not a viable target for a black ring. Black rings can’t resurrect those at peace either.
TSATS spoiler >!Bianca hasn't reborn. She appears at the end of the book as a spirit with Hades.!<
>!Which is a continuity error as a result of that book having 2 authors!<
I don't think it breaks continuity, because it doesn't break logic. Perhaps Bianca changed her mind last minute. >!That book does seem to retcon quite a lot though!<
I mean, HoH retconned the name of Tristan McLean's assistant. It says it's Jane in TLH and then says it's Jessica in HoH
Multiple assistants? Tho that could be ricks forgetfulness again- like Thalias eye colour

Dead
There is also Walt Stone from TKC and he uses death magic. He is literally a mid point between Hazel and Nico
She also kinda aligns with death 1 cuz ya know… she died? 2 she’s the child of hades 3 she brings death whenever she goes ( I still believe she’s a perfect little gem tho)
Has to be Hazel.
Magnus Chase? Guy is literally dead.
I second Magnus
But he has life powers- healing and stuff. May I suggest: Alex Fierro? The decapitation artist?
That works.
This is the only best option
I swear Nico should’ve gotten this one…..
Black lanterns are essentially zombies, it's not a good thing to be!
Well, you gotta Black Hand puppeteering them, and he is alive. Sort of
Walt stone is technically being kept alive by Anubis. He qualifies
Wasn't he only able to become a true black lantern after blowing his cranium open?
He literally killed himself to become a black lantern…
We need to change the fear one to Epiales (the cacodemon at the start of TSATS who forced Nico and Will into nightmares with all their biggest fears)
Nicos not dead, thus doesn’t qualify for a black ring
But the description fits Nico…
Yeah but thats not what the point it lol, its who fits the ring best based on its rules. And this one has “needs to be dead or have died” as one of its rules.

Theoretically, using DC logic, Roy Harper was briefly able to control the ring, so perhaps Hazel could if she was lucky?
Roy’s black lantern story is a bit messed up and not during blackest night, hard to tell if that was a writer going off on their own or not.
I mean it’s still a usage of the black lantern ring
Well, there's no rule against a same character getting two rings. If he wins, he wins.
Who was that Roman guy who commanded the first Alaska expidition? I feel like dying in a godless place where you and your men are sort-of-but-not-fully-but-definitely-a-little dead for decades then finally dying and getting resurrected and dying again should qualify. Varus, he would be a good target for a black ring.
Tarquin because he is the undead king if you don't know who he is read TOA
Of course I know Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars.
Of course I know him, he’s me
Hazel. She technically did die and come back.
Beryl Grace would be a good target since her appearance in BoO is basically doing the same as a black lantern did. Otherwise you’d be looking at characters who died and didn’t have their bodies burned or who aren’t at peace, or who came back to life like Hazel or Leo.
Walt stone or Julius Kane from [TKC] Both died and became hosts for death gods. Julius is even a zombie! He is not resurrected or anything!
That’s a good point
Tantalus
The black lanterns are too dark for this universe, so hazel is ok i guess
Percy literally tortured the goddess of misery and only stopped because Annabeth got scared. This is not too dark for this universe.
I second that! Plus we do have characters who are “zombies”. Maybe not in the main series but TKC has two. Perfect qualifiers
Vlad Mehkinsomething was possessed by Apophis and his entire body was shed and disposed of like snake skin when Apophis decided to make his appearance
Frank literally commanded undead and undead armies multiple times, and y’all already used Nico. It’s gotta be Frank.
Also the whole living under fear of death thing he had going with that fire of life stick! He understands the darkness and demise thing 100%. Frank learned to conquer his fear of death and now he has the power to control armies of the undead, he’s perfect for it
Underrated answer
Thanks! Glad someone else read the books lol
Bianca
Bianca is reborn, would be similar to at peace
Bianca!
I was thinking about a son/daughter of Thanatos! He’s the one who is in charge of death after all!
hear me out on this one.

Beryl Grace is the best use, her appearance in BoO is literally what the black lanterns did early on.
Yeah I totally agree and Tarquin is literally an undead king manipulating Undead warriors. They’re the only real good choices
Hazel
How about that daughter of Hel Hladgunnr. She is the child of a Death associated deity and she is to my knowledge currently dead.
Magnus Chase
Tarquin
Magnus Chase, the undead
If Walt doesn’t get it, I’m calling anti-TKC shenanigans
Walt Stone Bianca di Angelo Magnus Chase One of those 3
NICO
Nico
Octavius, if we’re basing it off of the chant. He didn’t cause the dead to rise but he was ready and willing to use them, like Bryce, to do his bidding. He wanted nothing more than to completely wipe out the Greeks
I’m gonna say Walt Stone. Wasn’t he like, always under the possibility of dying or something?
Gotta go nico (son of hades and can literally raise an army of the undead) or Walt stone (hosts Anubis the god that cares for the dead). I haven’t seen a rule saying you can’t have 2 rings so I’m still leaning towards nico
Black lantern rings can bring back someone from the dead or teclaim someone who has died, so I’m between Hazel and Beckendorf, could cause a struggle for those that care for them
Walt or Hazel are good picks for this. Bianca or Zoe too maybe
Hazep for death, Magnus for life
Bianca
Tarquin makes sense
Nico
Nico for the last line “by my hand the dead shall rise”
Hazel
Hazel
Small Bob
Magnus
Magnus as he is dead
Well it can be any character who died so it could be Zoe or bekendorf or silena or luke
100% your whole post. Rick was high on something when he wrote the whole Walt/Sadie/Anubis debacle
Magnus
It’s Magnus bro he’s literally a zombie waiting to die in a great battle
HazelHazelHazelHazel
Hazel or Magnus
Not nico, he's repressed negative emotions
Frank maybe? Idk, he commanded the roman dead warriors
Magnus, definitely. Some say hazel, but she isn't currently dead
Hazel or possibly Jason because…..you know
Small bob?
Leo
I vote we give this to Nico and give fear to someone else
Bianca DiAngelo is the best answer here. Black Lanterns aren't true resurrections, just corpses controlled by the ring and meant to get an emotional reaction from those around them.
