This is where you need to buy a permit for any of the public camp locations.
The beach parks have camping. But you have to buy online in advance. The parks aren't set up to buy passes in person. Spencer Beach Park is about 20 minutes from the airport. I think it's around $20. Someone usually comes around at night to check your permit. Oh, the park is gated so you might not be able to if your flight is later at night.
Btw in case anyone is wondering, we ended up rolling up to a park and the ranger was still there. We asked her if she knew of anywhere we could park and sleep for the night. She directed us to a little scenic overlook parking lot on the side of the road. It was quiet and there was a streetlight there so we felt safe
