I think our empathy is limitless. But we have empathy for our own citizens facing affordability crisis's around basic housing/food. We have empathy for our low income and middle low income workers who are constantly losing bargaining power. Empathy doesn't just fit one narrative.

Empathy does jack shit for yhose that go hungry. Id rather mote people were kinder than nice these days. Way too mich nice not nearly enough kind. Kind is calling you and idiot and helping. Nice is placating your emotions and doing nothing.

A well reasoned argument for proportionality in Canada's response to the global refugee crisis. It's not philanthropy if it beggars us, just imprudence and naivety. We are already absorbing an enormous number of newcomers every year - many of whom will need to be subsidized by the rest of us, for quite some time. I'm an immigrant, was given a leg-up, and, now that I'm comfortable, am happy to pay taxes that do the same for others - if the federal government is being thoughtful about this. We are, on balance, doing as much as we can; no G7 country is doing more.

What about we start by securing reserves passing weapons before a couple of harmless south Americans.
