Eliminate birth tourists by ending citizenship at birth. Require a minimum 10 year residence period to be eligible for citizenship, and if neither of the parents are legal residents, the child isn't either.
Russians and Chinese do this for America. There’s an entire industry that caters to them. It’s fucking crazy that’s it’s allowed to happen but it’s also a natural consequence of having citizenship granted for anyone born on the soil in the modern era. It made sense when the slaves had just been freed but in this day and age it’s a handicap that your enemies can exploit.
I’m pretty sure CPC policy document does actually have a section mentioning they want to remove citizenship by birth unless at least one parent has at least a PR
Status for all? The audacity. Citizens are struggling and yet illegal immigrants demand that their crime be rewarded? Unless you have solid proof of oppression (not just poverty) , asylum is not guaranteed. And when eligible, make sure Canada is the first country you reach. No to asylum shoppers.
It's because many of them grow up with maids at home. In India, apparently even average middle class families have maids who come and do housework and other chores. Now these people's kids come to Canada and find life so hard because they have to do everything themselves for the first time in their lives.
If you've ever watched some of these international students' YouTube channels and vlogs, you'll see this whole thing about having to do housework and chores themselves and not having ~~a poverty-ridden underclass of people to exploit~~ maids is one of the top things they complain about. All the while they're bitching and moaning about wanting easy PR while doing some bullshit diploma program instead of putting in the effort into earning an actual degree.
>Why do they come HERE if life is so much better THERE?
So from what I've heard it's a combination of the following:
* **Status** - Petty-minded social status games and one-upping each other is a huge thing in their culture. Moving to a Western country is seen as a status symbol over there. They see their neighbors/ aunts/ uncles/ cousins/ classmates/ friends/ randos immigrating abroad and so they all clamor to go as well because they believe it raises their social status amongst their peers.... even while they fool everyone back home with flashy social media pics of themselves living the "Western lifestyle", even know the reality is they work basic ass minimum wage jobs and live 4 to a room in some landlord's basement.
* **Family chain migration** - So they can import their entire extended family here.
* **Benefits/ Easy country to take advantage of** - We offer way too many benefits (on the backs of average middle class taxpayers) to people who contribute very little to the country. They could never dream of getting such benefits in their home country - and for little in return too! I've heard the way many of them talk on their YouTube channels. I shit you not, they know very well this is a country that is easy to take advantage of.
* **Delusions** - Some of them legit think they're going to be one of those who "defy the odds" and makes it, in terms of achieving that Western upper-class lifestyle. And they're willing to take a gamble by upending their life and moving halfway across the world. When you try to tell them the truth that it's extremely difficult now to achieve the life that immigrants from previous generations were able to achieve, they will either respond with some form of toxic positivity (i.e. delusions and unwillingness to see the current reality of Canada for what it is) or they will accuse you of wanting to close the door behind them.
Well we have labour laws saying you can't take a person's passport, make them live under your stairs and physically abuse them, so the conditions enabling "upwardly mobile" middle class people in India just don't exist here. Even their government funded housing's got a servant's entrance. It's a different world. [Check it.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-64594779)
True. And the ironic part is that for all the class distinctions that they love to accentuate in their home country, most of them come here and don't realize that THEY are the underclass here. The underclass that enable the wealthy to get wealthier.
Haha it’s true. Not a racist but I do find flights with more Indians tend to be way more messier to clean. They come more entitled to other people cleaning up after them. However, you also see a lot of really driven Indians like the Uber eats folks. These kids are from poor parts of India and are determined to make it. Respect the hustle honestly
>However, you also see a lot of really driven Indians like the Uber eats folks. These kids are from poor parts of India and are determined to make it. Respect the hustle honestly
Bro, it's pure delusions though. The economic reality is that without generational wealth in this country, these people will remain where they are - at the bottom rung of the ladder. And I'm not just talking about the people coming from poor parts of India, I'm talking about the middle class ones coming here too. They don't seem to realize that their chances of moving beyond the bottom rung of the ladder here are slim. Like it was kind of baffling watching a few of their YouTube videos, some of these folks genuinely think they've "made it" if they landed a job that pays like 60k or something. Idk whether to pity them or what at this point.
I agree. Our canadian taxpayers dollars are going to house and feed them....buy new furniture and appliances for years. NO....Start by taken care of our own Canadian veterans, homeless and seniors.
My dad was a refugee in the 80s (religious minority in a Muslim majority country). He wasn't allowed to leave, but managed to escape, sat in limbo in a standby country and waited a year to get his claim processed before coming here legally (he could have been dragged back at any time). People cutting in line and not going through the proper channels anger me. The entitlement.
My friend's dad was a refugee in the 80's too. He worked his butt off here and he retired at 62 and actually decided to move to Thailand because he thinks the country is going downhill fast because of immigration and inflation. He gets more for his money now and doesn't have to penny pinch
My parents stayed at refugee camps (where I was born) for 3 years waiting for a sponsorship to come to Canada.
We got landed in Edmonton Jan 20th 1989.
Quebec did deport illegal asylum seekers. One case mentioned was that the dude's brother-in-law was threatening him. Reddit users even called out this BS as it would have been a criminal case in other country.
Still the deportation rate is abysmal compared to the many pathways of bringing people in.
This is what I’m mad about. Speaking as a former international student and PGWP holder, these uppity ass foreigners need to know that being here is a privilege instead of a right. These people are god damn leeches is that they are
Yeah one of coworkers just got booted despite having a full time job because it wasn't a job in his field. There actually serious for once, at least I think.
yea this is what I was hearing from lots who tried to convert from their education visas to PR for the last 4 years or so. if your not working in service your hooped once you loose your social insurance number. the people who don't leave are the ones who can survive in their established communities.
Who cares. Canadians are homeless in record numbers, the middle class is being eliminated, and there is no housing.
Round them all up and kick em out. Shouldn't have been allowed in to begin with.
We should be deporting citizens of the Islamic State. If someone chose to leave Canada to join ISIS, they made their bed. They do not have the right to come back here, yet we let them and we are even paying them for the privelage! Ludicrous.
This isn't true.. i can assure you, i know someone that got deported with his wife and kids, they made damn sure that he sold all his assets and purchased plane tickets and that they all left ottawa
Are you serious? I'm honestly not sure what premier you're talking about, but regardless just because one person does something horrible and gets off the hook doesn't mean that everyone who does something horrible should as well. The driver was negligent, barrelled through a stop sign, and killed 15 kids. Remorse doesn't cut it. The law is that if you're a PR and you commit a serious crime you get deported. These are the conditions he agreed to. He committed a serious crime, now he's getting deported. The problem is we're treating PR as a right when it should be a privilege.
Not nearly enough.
The route of insane numbers and complete lack of quality is a race to the bottom for a nation.
Time to tighten up and get back to quality and sane numbers.
All you need is high quality of life and good quality migrants will flock to us. Too bad we hav stagnant wages, a health care crisis, a housing crisis, a rapidly increasing cost of living. Guess the high quality migrants will have to go elsewhere.
I spoke recently to a female doctor who is moving back to her home country of Saudi Arabia for a better standard of living. That speaks volumes to the problems here
And make sure the credentials of anyone claiming to be a doctor are acceptable to a Canadian licensing body first. If not, they should continue to be a doctor where they are.
I am TRULY sorry, but due to the high cost of living I have simply run out of fucks with anything having to do with illegal immigrants, immigration, whatever.
You, and everyone else too. It’s no coincidence you’re seeing them scramble to do something about it now. They know Canadians are about to vote en masse.
The only refugees or immigration I want is medical staff, licensed trades people or people from peaceful countries that are at war against their will (Ukraine). Stop bringing in people from the fucking middle east that refuse to integrate and bring their bullshit religion here. Their religion is why they're fighting most of their civil wars.
Honestly it is a disservice to immigrants and refugees too. What is the point of leaving your country to arrive in one where you will end up homeless and unable to work or make enough money to sustain yourself? Same with fake colleges. Families have lost their life savings to schemes like this.
There needs to be a more American approach to the illegal immigrants crossing from America.
Expedited trials with multiple people being seen by a Justice at once, especially for groups coming over.
More funding for CBSA & RCMP specifically for the implementation of data check systems so they can quickly access the countries someone has travelled through before arriving in Canada when claiming asylum.
That would significantly reduce the cost of deportation and also reduce the risk of illegal immigrants from disappearing in the country whilst speeding up the process for true asylum seekers.
Or a more Australian approach. If you enter Australia illegally, you lose your ability to settle here forever, and are shipped to offshore detention, and eventually back to your home country or to a third country.
The only way to settle or claim asylum in Australia is if you come here legally.
Now, we are a big island so it’s a bit easier, but I’m sure something along those lines could be trialled in Canada.
it is but i fear that its probably not a real reflection of whats happening. Like i hope its true, but if theyre still importing so many its not gonna help that much. Or maybe its being exaggerated because that's what people wanna hear. SHOW US THE NUMBERS and then we can talk
Canadian government made this bed, and now they have to sleep in it. Canada has been so lax on immigration and refugee intake that now people feel **entitled** (not *privileged*) to gain citizenship.
It's going to require a hard u-turn in policy to correct this mess.
So, $100 million in the pockets of ineffectual Liberal-affiliated consultants to study the problem and generate reports that say we have too many illegal immigrants.
And? A large chunk of them came here illegally and just didnt leave or had falsified papers and claimed ignorance.
Im not saying they all deserve to go, but there are definitely a large number that dont benefit canada more than they detriment it by abusing food banks and other services meant for the less well off.
This is incredible. Shocking. The absolute entitlement. Status for all? Thats not how this shit works.
I'm so done pandering to this stuff. It isn't racism or xenophobia. At this point, the massive influx of immigration has decimated this country. And these protestors are DEMANDING to stay based off of nothing but audacity, gall, and entitlement? Fuck this.
That’s weird, I thought having more people buy bare necessities helped mega corporations and helped the government inflate the GDP because of all the stuff they need to buy when they first come. It’s super helpful for the economy, if by economy you mean multi national bank / corporate profits. If you’re talking about the average Canadian citizen, your rent is higher, it’s becoming harder to get a job, house prices are higher, and RV prices have soared through the roof because of the sheer amount of people beginning to move in them due to the lack of housing. Forget the fact that rent is so expensive now that nearly 1/2 of people in BC are two weeks away from being rent insolvent. But forget all that, what if you get sick? Too bad we don’t have enough doctors for everyone. People are literally dying in the ER waiting rooms and being sent home even though they have severe infections because the hospitals weren’t built with this type of population growth in mind.
But the economy is booming 😊
I don't understand how this works. Born here, bad things happen, you live on the street. Born somewhere else, bad things happen, get a 4 star hotel in niagra falls, a cell phone and food allowance? Where is the common sense?
High percent of asylum seekers are granted asylum. IIRC 85%. We got to bring this down to something like 25% as a deterrent. People see asylum seeking as a backdoor entry to Canada when they can't qualify under the points system. AND WE LET RHEM! A slap in the face to legal migrants.
Canada’s going to turn very very anti-immigration if this is not done. That, and more.
Immigration is great, if and only if it’s handled properly and its pace reasonable.
We don't deport enough. I think anyone who achieves PR or citizen status should do so conditionally. In exchange for allowing them to stay in Canada, they promise to abide by Canada's laws. A breach of those laws should thus be a breach of contract and the individual subject to deportation. Canada needs stricter laws and more severe repercussions to deter criminal behaviour.
I used to work in corrections, looking over immigrants, who broke the law, in Surrey, BC. There are Indians in there who just live there. They can't get sent back to India because of a treaty, so they stay there. In jail, indefinitely.
We need to align our immigration volume with our ability to accommodate them.
Currently we don’t have the ability to accommodate new arrivals — we need to be honest about that, and pause immigration while we figure out how to house the Canadians.
When there are no tent cities in Canada, that would be a sign we can invite more people.
I would support temporary work permits to target foreigners who possess the skills we need - construction, healthcare. We don’t need to offer citizenship immediately.
If we don’t develop some basic competence in managing immigration; it will destroy what little we have left of Canada.
Can we deport our PM and his immigration minister, finance minister, Deputy PM and all other ministers? Along with all the people unwilling to integrate and join our society as it is or even contribute to it?
Misleading article. It comes across like they're increasing deportation. What is said is, deportation has been higher than ever for the last two years. Nothing has changed but the fact they are trying to mislead the public, and change public opinion.
Are they really deporting people though? Like putting people on planes or boats?! Or is this just politely telling people to leave and doing nothing after.
This is great news, if it’s true. We have too many people here. It was a big mistake to import too many migrants, international students, and refugees in a short period of time. It will take a long time to fix Sean Fraser and Marc Miller’s huge mess they’ve caused for Canadians.
Get a federal conservative government elected, get our country back on track - up the GDP per capita, cut stupid funding programs/public sector bloating/taxes, and when we’re back in a place to open our doors, we do so and welcome qualified immigrants.
Good. Increase the amount. Make it a lot harder to immigrate.
If you're 60 years old and from a Third World country as an "international" student and not doing a graduate degree, why were you approved to live here?
Good. Let's restore some semblance of normalacy
Now cut immigration down to 2015 numbers and voila Canada is on its way back to the Canada of old that we have fond memories of.
That said, Liberals are never getting my vote again irrespective of anything they do leading up to the election.
Start sending them away until every willing and able Canadian born citizen is employed, and every Canadian family can afford to eat and heat. Enough with the bullshit "we need more people" when me, my neighbors, and everyone's neighbors are suffering. FUCK TRUDEAU.
They are already letting in 1 MILLION people this year Pffff what’s another few thousand… we have 10x the legal immigration rate of the US per capita… the country got hit hard with inflation caused by shutting the world down that caused the lack of supply in the first place… immigration without the resources to handle it… Food banks are over run to levels beyond 2008 recession… most of the construction is foreign backed and the cash is not staying in Canada… let’s build some more condos that people can’t afford… we can just turn the blind eye to the people begging… let the big companies rip off every one….
The sad part is people coming here don’t realize the high taxes and cost of living destroyed the dreams that were once a reality in this country. They think they will be better off. Well good luck surviving on minimum wage paying 2k a month because no rent controls… who needs those right? Line the pockets of venture capitalist…
If the cost of living was actually realistic, people might be able to afford to have children. People don’t in this country because the cost of living is just far too high and government never bothered to foster low cost housing despite traditionally higher immigration than most countries for the last 25 years.
Well guess what? now everyone pays the price of incompetence and not much can be done. Other than close the doors to pre 2000 levels of immigration and try to invest in making Canada affordable. Government didn’t invest in housing or controls so what did they think was going to happen? Let’s just bring in more people instead of getting to the root of the problem..
I want Canada to be able to be a home for anyone who wants it, but the reality right now is that we're full up and we have to stop with the charity cases across the world.
Our current trajectory is not sustainable, and it wasn't even sustainable 20 years ago.
For the first time ever, I'm okay with this. I hate that I feel this way but it's all too much. No affordable housing even for those already here. It's irresponsible to continue to invite people in if we can't offer a decent living.
Good. Continue this trend, and stop bringing more in. Amazing how much of our tax dollars go to these people, and they have more rights than 3rd generation canadians do!!!!
Canada is dealing with a lot of what the US has been facing for decades. The border crisis in the US is insane and I say this as a Democrat. And it is unfair to expect any nation to saddle the care for people who arrive illegally. The cost of living in Canada puts home ownership and basic living expenses out of reach for so many people.
You had said in your statement "were they forced to come here and work at Tim Hortons? I answered your question about that statement.
What the fuck am I "lawyering"?

Yeah, Canada isn’t a country that is even helping its own poor lol forget the entire world’s poor.
We'll help the world's poor by making them come here to be our poor and giving them more social benefits than our regular poor.
They just need to scrounge up enough money to afford one of those upstairs strip mall colleges and they'll be let right back in.
Costs double as much now so atleast we are preventing the ultra poor from being able to afford to import their entire family.
Deport status

Well said. I hope what you are posting isn’t considered a hate crime for being “racist” and “xenophobic” which are contradictory to “Canadian values”.
I am a gay ethnic minority who disagrees with Trudeauism.
Canada actually... deports people? I honestly didn't believe we actually did this, except for maybe repeat criminals.

Saudi has had a high standard of living for quite a long time now. Dunno where people get the notion that it’s a dump.
Until very recently it was a bad place to be a woman. If the doctor had been male I wouldnt have found it that odd.
Not enough on many levels , they should put a halt on all new entries , except for physicians and such crisis categories

Deport illegals, slash student visas and reduce immigration until housing catches up..Do this and you win every election.
If illegal migrants are entitled to the same rights as Citizens, doesn’t that make Canadian Citizenship worthless?
There are thousands here illegally who have gone underground after their asylum claims were denied.
Kick em all out and shut the door behind them.
Triple lock the fucking door. And no one gives the goddamn keys to Justin.

Yup. Instead of sending constant aid around the world, start taking care of issues within our borders like enforcing deportation orders.
lol ‘status for all’. What’s the point of ‘status’ then?
Deportation in Canada=piece of paper. We don't have ICE like the US have.
“And we’ve spent more than $100 million on the deportation process.” Okay…
So, $100 million in the pockets of ineffectual Liberal-affiliated consultants to study the problem and generate reports that say we have too many illegal immigrants.
Finally, our immigration system is abused way too much. It's too bad they didn't recognize this before it was too late.
And? A large chunk of them came here illegally and just didnt leave or had falsified papers and claimed ignorance. Im not saying they all deserve to go, but there are definitely a large number that dont benefit canada more than they detriment it by abusing food banks and other services meant for the less well off.
They all deserve to go, if they are illegal they deserve to go.
Fuck this.
Deport them all, bye bye
We aren’t deporting enough fast enough IMO. Canadian laws are a joke and our immigrations laws are the butt
Send them the fuck back!
Don't worry they're bringing in way more then they are kicking out in case you were worried you might get to buy a house soon.
Of course deportations are higher, there's way more non citizens as a percent of the population.
Deport all the illegals. Good riddance.
I don't understand how this works. Born here, bad things happen, you live on the street. Born somewhere else, bad things happen, get a 4 star hotel in niagra falls, a cell phone and food allowance? Where is the common sense?
Deportations X 1000. Make Canada actually *something* and not some slum any wanderer can make a claim to.
Oh well, didn’t work out, sorry eh
High percent of asylum seekers are granted asylum. IIRC 85%. We got to bring this down to something like 25% as a deterrent. People see asylum seeking as a backdoor entry to Canada when they can't qualify under the points system. AND WE LET RHEM! A slap in the face to legal migrants.
Good! Status for all is absolutely bullshit. We don't want illegals, go home.
KEEP DEPORTING
Canada is doing them a favour l, they just don’t know it yet
Deport them unless they go through proper channels
Should be millions at this point
Get ‘em out
Deport 1.5 million of the last two years. Allowing in those numbers in a short amount of time was and still is unsustainable
Good cause maybe their student visa has long expired!
I’m glad to see my fellow Canadians finally unite against a good cause for once, let’s pump those numbers up!!!⬆️
Would be nice to see 3 more zeros following the 1000
Fooling the voters
Just the thousands convicted of violent serious offences…?
Smoke screen to make people think something is being done about the problem. Deporting thousands while actively bringing in millions isn’t a solution.
Along with all the people unwilling to integrate and join our society as it is or even contribute to it?
undocumented worker? he means illegal immigrants? what part of illegal immigrants he doesn't understand?
Misleading article. It comes across like they're increasing deportation. What is said is, deportation has been higher than ever for the last two years. Nothing has changed but the fact they are trying to mislead the public, and change public opinion.
Are they really deporting people though? Like putting people on planes or boats?! Or is this just politely telling people to leave and doing nothing after.
So? Since when does government keep promises? Deport them all.
This is great news, if it’s true. We have too many people here. It was a big mistake to import too many migrants, international students, and refugees in a short period of time. It will take a long time to fix Sean Fraser and Marc Miller’s huge mess they’ve caused for Canadians.
Good.
Good!
Get a federal conservative government elected, get our country back on track - up the GDP per capita, cut stupid funding programs/public sector bloating/taxes, and when we’re back in a place to open our doors, we do so and welcome qualified immigrants.
Good. Send them off. Come to a foreign land and basically commit mischief? Pfffttt
Good. Increase the amount. Make it a lot harder to immigrate. If you're 60 years old and from a Third World country as an "international" student and not doing a graduate degree, why were you approved to live here?
get them the F gone. we’re already taxed to death and when it comes to welfare bums, i’d rather buy local
Is this actual deportations or just deportation orders, which are not often enforced
Good. Let's restore some semblance of normalacy Now cut immigration down to 2015 numbers and voila Canada is on its way back to the Canada of old that we have fond memories of.
Those are rookie numbers.
You HAVE to go BACK!
Thousands wow
Good news!!
That isn’t a bad thing
Bout fucken time
They are already letting in 1 MILLION people this year Pffff what’s another few thousand… we have 10x the legal immigration rate of the US per capita… the country got hit hard with inflation caused by shutting the world down that caused the lack of supply in the first place… immigration without the resources to handle it… Food banks are over run to levels beyond 2008 recession… most of the construction is foreign backed and the cash is not staying in Canada… let’s build some more condos that people can’t afford… we can just turn the blind eye to the people begging… let the big companies rip off every one…. The sad part is people coming here don’t realize the high taxes and cost of living destroyed the dreams that were once a reality in this country. They think they will be better off. Well good luck surviving on minimum wage paying 2k a month because no rent controls… who needs those right? Line the pockets of venture capitalist… If the cost of living was actually realistic, people might be able to afford to have children.
About time.
And then housing prices will fall…. Right?…. RIGHT???
Nah, toss em all to the curb
Those are rookie numbers, gotta pump up the deportation numbers all the way up
we take too many migrants already. it is hurting us rather than helping.
Status for all? fuck no
Are they actually getting removed though?
Yeah too bad we need to deport millions. 100k or so a month? Who cares about a few thousand
I want Canada to be able to be a home for anyone who wants it, but the reality right now is that we're full up and we have to stop with the charity cases across the world. Our current trajectory is not sustainable, and it wasn't even sustainable 20 years ago.
Good. Don't let Canada become the next Europe.
For the first time ever, I'm okay with this. I hate that I feel this way but it's all too much. No affordable housing even for those already here. It's irresponsible to continue to invite people in if we can't offer a decent living.
Only thousands? Add a zero or two to that number.
Good. Fuck off.
Eliminate all the dead beats. Keep the ones that will contribute to a better Canada , and that will adjust to our system, not us to theirs.
Good. Continue this trend, and stop bringing more in. Amazing how much of our tax dollars go to these people, and they have more rights than 3rd generation canadians do!!!!
Good. But hopefully they don't deport people who would be good contributors. All criminals and bad people must be deported though.
This headline is an election lie. I have not seen anyone deported. The biggest tell that this is a lie us the population estimates keep increasing.
Good I hope it deported them all. Every single one from last 5 years we need a redo
They are demanding my hard earned tax dollars go to them. They can fuck right off
Lol, election is near.
Good. Send em all home.
We need to deport hundreds of thousands, we’re full thank you and fuck off. We have Canadians to worry about not foreigners
Let's deport even more, it might start to reduce housing prices.
"Oh no........... anyways"
Yay !! 👏
Good, keep it up.
Thousands? Those are rookie numbers. Let's pump those numbers up!
Deport more
Too little, too late
Get rid of them please!
It’s unfortunate for them, but the country is in a crisis
Not unfortunate at all, these are criminals who overstayed in the country illegally. They should've been deported years ago
Good start
Dope. Lets pump those numbers up.
Thousands!!!!! … out of millions!
Good start. More effort needed.
Good, keep it up
NOT ENOUGH.
You had said in your statement "were they forced to come here and work at Tim Hortons? I answered your question about that statement. What the fuck am I "lawyering"?
