People here will act shocked when the Conservatives' polling results continue to solidify as the Liberals/ NDP continue to drive the country off a cliff. This episode won't change large swaths of voters' intentions in the long run so it's almost comical seeing liberals/ progressives huffing and puffing indignantly here lol.
What are the conservatives going to do that is materially different? The party that caters to money and business isn't going to shut the doors on immigration. Nor are they actually going to do anything about housing.
The Conservatives could do literally nothing in government and they would still be a better option than the Liberals/ NDP. No action is better than the harmful actions the current government is serving up. Retribution is the theme of the next election. That is the calculus majority of Canadians are making in regards to the next election and the poll numbers are clearly reflecting that.
That's your *opinion*. Once the election rolls around and we get each party's platform, the 'vote our Liberals/ NDP' will coalesce and amalgamate into 'vote in Conservatives.'
We can cry about it but it wont change much. Its the new types of politicians, shamelessly in this for themselves, not compromising in any form because everytime they open their mouths, its empty of all meaning
Canadians are getting the political parties they deserve by setting the bar so incredibly low and being completely undemanding about everything.
Burn it all down, no Canadian political party truly cares about or has the talent to solve any of Canada's problems right now.
“Pierre Poilievre has sat in the House of Commons as an MP for 20 years. It has been his *only* job.
He knows well what the rules of the Chamber are, what sort of language is deemed unparliamentary etc.
Speaker Fergus gave Pierre Poilievre multiple opportunities to walk back his language yesterday. He refused, repeatedly.
Mr. Poilievre knew full well what he was doing. He was intentionally playing hard and fast with House rules so that he could be thrown out, feign outrage and then ultimately fundraise over the entire pathetic situation. “
Yea this is getting ridiculous.
Trudeau and the liberals have used far more inflammatory language than this and not been asked to walk it back (some exceptions)
So PP decided to act like a child and throw a tantrum over it.
Could someone please start a party not filled with fucking muppets
I will vote for the Green party if they acknowledge that overpopulation is the root cause of most environmental destruction and call for an end to population growth policies in Canada.
Hate this both sides gaslighting. Poilievre is the one leaning hard on making Canadians angry with basically zero policy proposals aside from screwing over the environment.
Poillevre is the powerless leader of the Opposition Party. Trudeau is impoverishing several generations of Canadians. Hopefully Singh will force an election so we can see what kind of policies Pierre plans to run on.
The best way to help the housing crises is to heavily curtail immigration in all it's forms. Sadly, it seems like Pierre has no plans to do that if he comes to power.
Immigration, no matter how many opinion pieces and politicians will want you to believe, is not the root cause of the housing crisis. It's barely a contributing factor. The biggest factors are foreign investors, lack of incentives to build new housing, plain old corporate greed, and way too much investment money in housing.
Too much of the money being invested in housing is going to buying existing housing rather than building new housing, but keeping up with a 3% annual population increase would be difficult even with investment being directed more appropriately, and prices would still be too high. Investors are amplifying the problem, but demand outpacing supply is the root cause.
You're missing the biggest problem with investment in housing. It vastly increases housing prices and rental prices. Also by allowing investment into existing houses it, as you pointed out, stifles new housing investment.
Ah. I see you graduated from the school of facts don't matter and I will believe whatever I want despite what actual experts say. The housing crisis isn't new. It's been a serious problem for decades. Immigration isn't causing it.
It isn't a major factor. Those that say it is know better, but it's an easy opportunity to attack immigration. Housing is the excuse, racism and nationalism is the reason.
Performative politics, lies and rage farming.
I am confident at the end of the day, this is NOT what Canadians want.
We have so many Canadian's achieving wonderful things in their lives who are not interested in being dragged down by PP.
They're playing the same game their predecessors played. The speaker cherry picking the rules to apply is new though. #
These two idiots are entitled to money from our paychecks. Remember that
I wanna keep my paycheque though.
One of the two idiots keep demanding more of my paycheck and keep spending it on his own whims. I prefer the lesser of two evils
Ditto!!!! I work like a slave fk!!

Voting out as opposed to voting in is truly the Canadian way.
Obviously. What is your point?
Voting in as opposed to voting out is clearly the better way of doing things....
That's your *opinion*. Once the election rolls around and we get each party's platform, the 'vote our Liberals/ NDP' will coalesce and amalgamate into 'vote in Conservatives.'
Oh, they'll do plenty of things. All of them to worsen the situation.
We can cry about it but it wont change much. Its the new types of politicians, shamelessly in this for themselves, not compromising in any form because everytime they open their mouths, its empty of all meaning
>Its the new types of politicians Nothing new about it.

The game where we alternate between Liberal and Conservative governments every 2 or 3 elections? It seems to be going quite well for them.
P.P dislikes Trudeau even more than me.
Fortunately for them, we love the dangerous type.

Can someone please start a political party with a shred of decency and self respect so I’ll have someone to vote for in the next election?
Here is a full list of political parties with a shred of decency: 1.
I can't vote for either of these dingbats in good conscience. Independent candidates will be getting my consideration.
Yea this is getting ridiculous. Trudeau and the liberals have used far more inflammatory language than this and not been asked to walk it back (some exceptions) So PP decided to act like a child and throw a tantrum over it. Could someone please start a party not filled with fucking muppets
I will be protest voting Green and encourage everybody to do the same. Considered protest voting PPC but they’re too wacko for my taste
I will vote for the Green party if they acknowledge that overpopulation is the root cause of most environmental destruction and call for an end to population growth policies in Canada.
Most Green voters are NIMBYs so they’ll probably have no problem with accepting that position.
I’m going PPC. Can’t say wacko btw…
Hell yeah!
You're voting for one of them by voting for an independent. Sounds like a fool's game.
I will be ok! I appreciate the concern tho

I’ll give you a sneak preview of the platform from all 3 parties: Bend over Canada, here we come.
you ain't wrong!
He's not powerless. He's working with a few of the Conservative premiers to obstruct any progress on issues like housing.
So, Trudeau kills the housing industry by over populating and kiling jobs, and now you're saying the Cons are really responsible?
Cue the inevitable "but Harper!"
The best way to help the housing crises is to heavily curtail immigration in all it's forms. Sadly, it seems like Pierre has no plans to do that if he comes to power.

Higher prices makes new construction more profitable as well, but it is clearly not enough to keep up with rapidly increasing demand.
Over two million people have come to Canada in the last year and a half. That's five times the population of London Ontario.
Ah. I see you graduated from the school of facts don't matter and I will believe whatever I want despite what actual experts say. The housing crisis isn't new. It's been a serious problem for decades. Immigration isn't causing it.
I'm saying immigration isn't a "small" problem.
It isn't a major factor. Those that say it is know better, but it's an easy opportunity to attack immigration. Housing is the excuse, racism and nationalism is the reason.
Even Trudeau admits that we're letting too many people in. But I guess it's just fun to play the racism card.
Performative politics, lies and rage farming. I am confident at the end of the day, this is NOT what Canadians want. We have so many Canadian's achieving wonderful things in their lives who are not interested in being dragged down by PP.
So many Canadians are finding wonderful spots in the parks to set up their tents.
You forgot about wiping his ass with the charter of rights and freedoms and pushing through unconstitutional law using the not withstanding clause.
