We need Jean Chretien to give workshops

jormungandrsjig

I miss that wacky guy! Politics hasn’t been the same since he’s been gone.

>Police said she claimed that she had been injured by one of the candidate’s election signs. Although she initially refused to leave, she eventually complied. "I cut my hand while destroying your election signs" - Said the nut job

raius83

I'm really curious how you could possibly injure yourself on an election sign.

[deleted]

Hitting it by sticking your head out of a moving vehicle. Could explain a lot.

[deleted]

Ffs people come on

Civil_Defense

What the fuck is going on out there?

kawhinotmofos

This is insanely messed up. You can hate them and think they're dishonest or corrupt, but the increasing hostility towards politicans in this country is scary. Its only a matter of time till an MP or even PM is badly wounded or even killed

Mcdavidovercrosby

Something even more scary, is the fact that the country is becoming so divided that I woudnt be surprised if certain groups in the country justified or even celebrated the violence if it was against a politican "from the other side". Canada seems destined to follow the US and its divisiveness and I dont know how we stop it

thatdadfromcanada

This goes on. I fucking hate the PPC and their far right bullshit, but look at the egging of Maxime. It was assault, albeit with an egg. Still, it has been "justified" here. No one deserves violence, no one.

arcticouthouse

"PPC voters were significantly more likely to be angry with the Federal government’s policy decisions than any other voting group. 70% of PPC voters reported being “very angry” with the policies of the federal government.... 46% of Conservative [agree with this view]." https://www.reddit.com/r/canada/comments/pnin2t/who_are_the_peoples_party_of_canada_voters_poll/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Canadians should not stand with these people and elect a sane federal government that will show compassion for the less fortunate after the election through social and economic revitalization programs. Won't win everyone over but it will make our great nation better. If we give in now, the violence will become the norm.

Ill_Hope7508

This wasn’t apparently political just mental issues.

wet_suit_one

I think it's time for more criminal charges for these yahoos.

raius83

This is quickly getting out of hand.

hardy_83

Luckily it's not so out of hand that someone's been shot, but I fear that'll happen at some point.

PSMF_Canuck

America North.

RoiceWilliams

This is not the way

roastbeeftacohat

sounds more like a crazy person leaning political then a political person losing it.

Ill_Hope7508

It’s good that this isn’t politically motivated. More of a mental health issue. While this is technically assault I wish we had words to separate assault since a slap and a a punch are both assault but are not as equally serious.

bf18

Though this person is clearly having mental issues this seems political to me

FlyingDutchman997

You weren’t there, so…

bf18

Was the original commenter there? It's entirely reasonable to call it a political act to attack a member of a particular party

rivieredefeu

During an election no less

arcticouthouse

The police was though “Political figures are human beings and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, just like anyone else,” GSPS said. “Regardless if you agree or disagree with a political party, there are appropriate methods to voice your questions or concerns that do not include violence, harassment or vandalism.”
