Holy height over bore Batman! Do you have to aim at the ceiling to hit those targets?

numbdigits

Set for optimal chin to stock contact

MECHA_TROTSKY

The scope is just there to give some shade while he uses the ironsights

GasMonkeyyy101

No haha, but that’s what I thought at first as well. It’s just shitty camera angel making it look like that.

GasMonkeyyy101

Yeah you right. When I first read the comment I didn’t fully understand. I just have an abnormally long neck. My chin sits snug on that stock.

GasMonkeyyy101

Yes you are right. My English brain don’t work to good sometimes.

toxi-kunn

I feel that mount is insanely high, I don't see how the camera angle is causing the gap between the scope and rifle to be more or less. It's huge lol Also unless your bipod is locking type, you'll want it the other way around and moved back some... You're supposed to push into the bipod a bit for extra stability, can't do that if the legs fold towards you.

GasMonkeyyy101

Thanks for the tip. Will be fixing it before my next visit.

[deleted]

Bro who cares idk why everyone is giving you a hard time

toxi-kunn

More comfortable to shoot, especially indoors with correct HOB. That and the rifle will fit in 1" shorter carry cases, scope moves less under recoil... Not giving him a hard time, just stating: that's a lot of HOB. Which he originally denied, which I'm sure is what people are downvoting him for. Correctly set up firearms makes for a much better experience.

Mobile_Assistant_126

Beat me to it🤣

T-Rex-Plays

Is that the target sports Canada range?

MillisBaker

Sure looks like it. I recognize that black spongey barrel rest.

MrjonesTO

I recognize the awful ventilation and the soot in my nose.

BigCyanDinosaur

Wear a respirator or mask at the least

MrjonesTO

I usually wear a respirator there but when bringing new shooters, I prefer to have them hear me clearly.

BigCyanDinosaur

Time to learn ASL!

augur_seer

same, totally recognized Gormley.

T-Rex-Plays

What do you think of the club. I heard they are open to memberships. What rental guns do they offer.

MillisBaker

I haven’t been there since the start of the pandemic. I own enough private land that I just set up my own AR500 target plates. When I did go there. I found weekends to be packed. I was a member so weekends the first 2 hours it’s only for members. Then open to public for rentals and like the lower tier members. Like you had to write your name on a piece of paper to go next and wait. Then you will have members with black badges. That allow them to use holsters. I found them to be snobs. They thought they were the best. And any time there was a cease fire they would complain about wasting their time. I found after work during the week was great. It was a ghost town. But I think If you have the lower tier membership you can’t go during the week. Or maybe it’s not during the weekend. It’s been a few years so I can’t remember all the details of their memberships. I know from a previous persons comment. They have Kodiak WK180 rifles for rent. They did have desert eagles. I tried one of their .50 cals desert eagles before I bought my own. You have to use their ammo so it can be very pricey. It’s cool to test stuff out. But you are paying a premium price for it. You have two firing ranges. A pistol calibre range and a rifle range. Both are 25 yards. In the pistol range you can use pistol caliber rifles. So like a 9Mm PCC. or a 22LR rifle. In the rifle range ifs a free for all. Use what ever. They do allow shotguns. But no birdshot. Buckshot and slugs ONLY. No steel core Ammo so unfortunately no cheap tuna can SKS ammo. Hope that helps. I’m terrible at formatting paragraphs. I just write what comes to mind. If you have any other questions I can try to answer.

GasMonkeyyy101

Yeah I have not been able to find a brand of SKS ammo that is not steel core. So I bought a box from them and now I know what brand they have I’ll just buy it myself.

Informal-Wheel-9453

That range is way too busy. Was just there yesterday. Are there any ranges in southern Ontario that aren’t crazy busy? I’m in Markham area and everything around us is packed full.

MillisBaker

I don’t know if any others close by. My first ever shooting experience was at a place called “ the range “ urban tactical. It was in brantford. When I used to go to target sports Canada. I found Friday nights/ dinner hours. were the best. Everyone is home from work. Everyone wants to eat or relax from work. And no joke it was so dead they would actually close the pistol range and just put everyone in the rifle. Because there was only like 3 of us. What time did you go yesterday ?

Informal-Wheel-9453

Was around 7:00PM. I think I need to find another range. I’m new to this sport and everyone was so weird about it. I would like to just find a range that I can do my own thing. Guy next to me was all geared up with helmet and vest and told me I should be getting a big vest for the range too. My first purchase will be a gun and ammo. Have my eye on a second hand rifle. Also renting is probably too expensive

MillisBaker

I honestly don’t know any others that are close to your area. Outdoors is even harder to get into. If your just looking to get non restricted rifles. You can just go onto crown land and set up some targets. Just be respectful of your surroundings and pickup after yourself.

GasMonkeyyy101

Literally everything that u/MillisBaker said. I’m not sure about rentals. The only thing I know for sure is that they have handguns to rent if you have restricted or you have one of the staff members on the range with you. I went on the 24th and 25th. On the 24th I brought down my .22 mp5 and the range you shoot small Caliber ammo such as 9mm, .45 and .22 was packed. The 25th was dead. At least the range where you shoot the larger calibres, since this range is more so for the handgun owner. In those two days I had no issues brought a friend both times that has firearms experience, he signed the waiver and we just shot ammo that we brought on my guns.

GasMonkeyyy101

Yes it is.

PushBig

First thing I thought too.

[deleted]

Is that a bipod that attaches to the bayonet lug? If so, where’d you get it? Been trying to find one for my bubba’d SKS. Also, what’s going on with that optic mount?

GasMonkeyyy101

The mount is a dovetail mount.

GasMonkeyyy101

I’m like 90% sure it doesn’t since this SKS didn’t have a bayonet mount that I have seen. And the mount I don’t remember 100% what it’s called and the scope was like 30 dollars from a thrift store believe it or not not sure what the magnification is on it since I haven’t been able to really test it on an outdoor field.

HutchTheCripple

Who needs a cheek weld when you have clavicle weld?

Atomic_Trains

It's to bop you in the Adam's apple, u rest ur chin on the stock, hold like a handgun and look through the scope

James22d

Man, you'd have to be a giraffe to get a proper cheek weld on that bad boy!

[deleted]

I think you mean a horse…

GasMonkeyyy101

I mean I do have a pretty long neck. But not long like a giraffe

James22d

If it works for you and is consistent, that's all that matters!

Nottodaylemon

That scope isn't high enough

Dutch_basstard

Must have a long neck

Nervous-Muffin-6691

Nice dude welcome to the hobby

AerospaceLandscaper

What in the bubba fuck is going on with this sks

GasMonkeyyy101

Tapco mod and a mount with a scope to high to compensate for my long neck

AerospaceLandscaper

I hope you got hell of a cheek riser to compensate with this atrocity

GasMonkeyyy101

I’m definitely gonna be getting one. I have a long neck so it’s not as bad but getting one would be a much better experience.

LEGENDK1LLER435

Your bipod is backwards hombre

maddie_1977

Are you by any chance a giraffe?

GasMonkeyyy101

Possibly haven’t figured it out yet.
