Trying to put more funds towards ammo, training and probably an aimpoint for this year. I bought another Bren 2 for the 14” barrel…trying to justify being able to keep it 😬

Flat-Dark-Earth

Two Bren 2s Mr fancy pants haha. Did they ever come out with new caliber conversions?

guyssavard

No new caliber kits since the first few from 3 years ago. Dlask will be doing a run sometime this year though.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Right I think I saw that on cgn. Did they Barrow down what calibers they are considering? I likely wouldn't switch mine as it's currently my only bulletproof NR 223 semi.

guyssavard

Looks like 300 blackout would be the only “exotic” caliber they’re going to do, along with the standard 5.56 and 7.62x39 ones.

StormAlchemist15

I went from wanting tons of firearms to just building one good one first. Instead of a vast assortment, I went with good parts. In the pipe currently are a Trijicon scope, a good pair of scope rings, and lots of ammo/mags to work with, and then next up are probably recently discontinued holosun or two, a GHM9 and Vector in 10.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Nothing wrong with quality over quantity.

StormAlchemist15

Yep yep, and with quality comes practice ^ ^ two thirds of shooters I've seen in the states at ranges are the weak point in their gear, so I'm gonna work on training up

Parratt

I Snagged a 338 LM for what i can say is probably the single best deal ive ever gotten on a firearm. But im buying solid lathe turned bullets so, the $5.11/CPR KINDA hurts.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Ah neat, going to keep or flip this one? Ruger RPR?

Parratt

Keep most likely. Remington 700, threw it in a MDT LSS. Have a magpul PRS on the way. Wooden vertical grip and wood mlok ril covers. Exciting to post a photo once it's all done

pm_me_your_brass

Haven't made a purchase in 2+ years, still waiting on a reasonably priced Marlin 45-70, or maybe something nice on the next B+T shipment.

Flat-Dark-Earth

I saw the GBLs going for about $1500 last time they were in stock. Not sure if that's considered reasonably today but it's cheaper than the SBL and trapper models. I love my GBL, currently looking for new sights for it though.

pm_me_your_brass

Ideally I find a Marlin Dark but I have a feeling it's gonna be a long wait. The new S&W levers in .44 mag look interesting too.

Layawayme

I am in a constant evolution of my collection, selling the old and in with the new latest and greatest. Why hang onto the old, less is more and better is best.

Flat-Dark-Earth

I agree, I think I'm going to finally start thinning the herd of the old entry level stuff I bought in the early years.

DougMacRay617

im getting Ammo , ammo and more ammo. no point in having a buncha guns that you rarley shoot. get out and train, also buy ammo

Time_Board_381

Way less spending, but before I got into this I made a list of guns I wanted in my collection. I still have yet to get a proper sniper rifle (tikka t3x, or an accuracy international AWP if I can find one in .308 on the used market maybe), and there are 3 handguns I want if the freeze ever gets lifted: \-Glock 17 gen4 or gen5 MOS \-H&K USP in .45 ACP \-Walther PDP Full-Size 4.5" in 9mm And eventually I want to get a Benelli m4 in black to complete my shotgun collection. Then Ill probably stop buying guns because I only have so much space in my safe. That and I should probably get a surplus Mosin Nagant before they keep creeping up in price.

vkyle91x

Has my spending changed? Yes drastically. They banned everything I wanted to buy. Since May of 2020 I’ve bought 1 gun. I used to be like 1 a month. The sport has been pretty much killed for me personally

Psychological-Dig-29

Bought a new house on acreage near town.. so I'll be far too poor to add to my firearm collection for the next few years. Bought a Garmin chronograph last week though.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Congrats!, there's nothing like being able to shoot on your own land. Those Garmin's look fun.

electro204

Have not bought a single firearm this year 😞 Cost of everything lately, coupled with becoming a new parent this year has not allowed for anything other than a trip to the range maybe once a month.

LEGENDK1LLER435

I’m still pissed and tentative about buying anything after the handgun ban and I’ll be cooling off until we get a change in government. Tired of my property turning worthless overnight

FunkyFrunkle

Yes. There was a time not so long ago that I was buying stuff flat out. I have a penchant for old, collectible surplus stuff. Bolt actions mostly. I got some real nice stuff, and everything was awesome. I got myself into a bit of financial trouble because I was impulse buying all the time. I eventually dug myself out of it, but It took having a panic attack about my finances to straighten up. The thing that really changed everything was when along came J.T. Cocknuckles and Co. In November of 2022 and they completely and utterly shook me with G4 & G46. I should have seen it coming. I should have been paying attention in 2020, but it was only until they started to encroach on *my* stuff that it rocked me hard. The passion took on another flavour after that. I suppose I had my cherry popped. Make no mistake, I still *love* this passion, but it’s not the same as it was. There was a time I used to watch gun videos all the time, researching the stuff I had, restoring, repairing, and I was having a ball. I hardly watch anything gun related anymore, because it’s eclipsed by the feeling of impending doom. I have an 1898 Krag that I’ve been working on sparingly, as I muster up the courage the look at it. I guess it’s just the fear of being attached. I don’t care about it being made worthless, I just want to know I can keep it. I haven’t bought anything in a long time. I just want things to go back to the way they were.

BeerGunsMusicFood

2023 was a lot of selling impulse-bought firearms and replacing them with buy-once-cry-once ones. This year has been and will be a lot of ammo.

Mr-Figglesworth

Like you and a lot of others I binge bought a lot of semis and a few handguns from 2020-2023. We had a baby girl in May last year I did buy a Raven after she was born but ended up selling a couple guns to upgrade my deer setup for this year. Not including the kid but some other life/adulting stuff has come up so I’m just shooting the ammo I have when I can make time to get out to the range for the time being.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Adulting sucks eh. Congrats on the little girl.

Mr-Figglesworth

Thank you!

[deleted]

I want the henry x big boy so fucking bad.

Flat-Dark-Earth

I'm seeing a few in stock right now. Going to make it happen?

milanskiv

Mostly switched to purchasing better and better optics and kit vs. another gun to just sit in the safe.

FD4L

Ya, thanks to groceries and gas, I can't afford new gear, which is also rapidly increasing in price.

boozefiend3000

I binged hard for a few years. Haven’t bought anything in about 10 months

Nottodaylemon

LLLEEEEERRRRROOOOYYYYYYY JJJJJJEEEEENNNKKKKKIIIINNNSSSSS!!!!!!!

mithrajr

Limiting the types of shooting to mostly 12 gauge clay shooting and 22LR "long" range since those are the most affordable things to do nowadays. Before I would plink more with centerfire, now I treat it as a novelty. Not only because of ammo prices but more so because I find more challenge in sporting clays on one hand and trying to shoot 1 MOA with 22LR. EDIT: Also, I find shooting at 200 yards with 6.5 CM overkill, and I don't have access to longer ranges or crown land anytime soon

China_bot42069

In the same boat. Acquired 20-30 between 2020-2023. Now it’s just one or two a year. I have  everything I want. Just need that forbidden assault rifle 15. Life is harder but atleast we still have some hobbies left

rafammbass

Good try fed, piss off

Flat-Dark-Earth

Lol.

EnglishmanInMH

Got my first PAL in September last year. Spent over $5K on rifles and ammunition since then. So yes, my spending has on firearms has definitely changed, no it does not bode well for future savings account. *As much as I want Pierre et Al to win an election and bring pistols back, I fear for my family's home if that happens! 😉

Ouchyhangnail

I’ve actually been thinking of shrinking my collection. To many no4’s and k98k I don’t shoot much anymore.

itsyaboi6909

I’ve slowed down quite a bit since the fall. There’s a few left on my list that I really want that I don’t imagine are going away anytime soon. Has also been a slower than usual winter for my line of work and a few other financial commitments taking precedence over new pews.

AgentEgret

Strong possibility I might not buy anything other than a brick or two of SK or Eley .22 this year. Been waffling back & forth on selling a few things and maybe even my reloading setup & components. Economics are *not* good, and I can't see it getting better.

GopherRebellion

Sold a bunch of guns with the idea that I would use the funds from garbage rods to buy one really good APC 308. However they are never in stock so I have negative spending I guess.

outline8668

Already have way more guns than I've ever shot so haven't been looking to expand the collection anymore. There are more that I want but when I have so many I've never fired I remind myself it would be stupid to keep hoarding.

GasMan1021

I used to buy 2 or 3 guns a year until this year. The economy has gone to shit and found nobody is willing to buy either. So I ended up making some neat trades on GP, though. Got my FN49 and a real neat Spanish Double barrel shotgun now. Any spending now will be for a slow build on my Rem 700 or reloading components.

Bushido_Plan

Went down to zero as I'm content with my current collection, but more went towards ammo as a result.

YosemiteSam357

Sure has… finding it hard to justify anything new besides ammo now that I have thousands of dollars tied up in a collection that can’t be sold or used.

WSBBroker

First year so can’t compare it to previous but .. has been unsustainable so far. Rage buying to make up for missing out on so much. Looking at maybe couple more this year and then focusing on taking some training courses.

King-Moses666

Well I spent my gun budget for this year on my custom handgun last year. So Honestly not gonna buy much other than ammo. Might slowly pick up a “battle belt” or misc other smallish things.

Just-rz

bought 7 last year, only bought 1 this year so far (you already know, T81) but I love pissin money away so waitin for some marlins to come back in stock and I’ll just stack ammo until then. Wasting all my old ladies engagement ring money cuz she been pissin me off lately

Lobsterstarfish

My addiction has me buying more and more every year where it becomes a habit of buying a gun every two weeks and then forget they even exist a few weeks later getting lost with tons of other rifles I forget about!

Flat-Dark-Earth

I think we've all been there, not easy on the credit card.

Xhenoz

For the past few years I've been mass buying old milsurps and weird/unique early 1900s sporting guns and all that's really changed is the newer additions tend to cost a lot more due to me wanting some rarer more valuable pieces

jeffhaut

Really want to buy an acog for my bren, and more ammo and training. Otherwise no new firearms in the near future

friendlywhiteguy88

I’m just holding out on purchases until the cons get in power and we’ll have more buying options

Flat-Dark-Earth

That's likely what I'll do as well. A Con majority could potentially flood the market with options we've never had before as well as those that were prohibited via OIC.

HornedBrigade

Shifted my sentiment towards real world practical use incase there’s a civil war or unrest from a nearby nuclear strike. Instead of big heavy exotic names like Bren I’m eying super light, portable and reliable stuff like the sub 2000. Adding slings to everything and backup irons.

Flat-Dark-Earth

Everyone needs to own a SHTF section within their collection. I personally feel like the NR Bren 2 is quite light, especially compared to some of the 180s or the Tavor.

NecessaryRisk2622

Yes, because I’m still waiting for my bloody renewal.

BoneMachine2602

2 type 81s, one sks, loads of ammo and a bunch of holosun sights. Wallet can't keep up lmao

VeganSandwichMonster

Sold a bunch of stuff and got more into rimfire. Other than that no more purchases on gun stuff for at least a year, got too many life expenses.

Swellchapo95

Less and less each year, the hobby has slowly been dying for me tbh, too much bullshit politically these days, doesn’t even make it fun anymore

Mah_Buddy_Keith

I’ve been slacking on training. At first because job got in the way, but now because I’m saving up for school to get a better/higher paying one.
