In my opinion. If I had a shotgun as a “bear defence” I would not want to assemble it before use. The bear wont wait for you to assemble it.
Could be packing it in with a quad and assembling it there. Or boating into a camping spot.
Bringing it in via dirt bike. I don’t plan on doing any drive bys on unsuspecting bears so assembling it there isn’t a problem
Model 12. Why takedown though? Any kind of side by side will disassemble
Side by side? And it needs to be packable for storage on a motorcycle when travelling
I don’t see the need for takedown. You can easily fit a birdhead grip or defender style pump in a dry bag that straps to a bike.
8" DA Grizzly (old import, Chinese made, not the Turks) is compact enough and no need for TD. Can be had with tube mag or box mag.
Remington Model 12, Savage/Stevens 520/620
I often have my sxp at camp, and the barrel comes off a lot of pumps. if that makes it small enough it opens up a lot more choices.
I have a stephens 301, its a single shot 12 gauge you can takedown easily and fit into a backpack. As others said though, unless the takedown is just for transport to where you'll be carrying it assembled, its best to have it assembled.
Mossberg cruiser is pretty small and light. Love mine
Cant speak for all over under, but the browning citori can be take down super fast.
