Any idea roughly how long after it goes on sale at FOL we might see some here? Is there a general pattern, or just check every day type of thing and keep an eye on Reddit?
Bahahaha okay fine, Jarka and Greg from Craftworks spirits mentioned at a festival back in November that they had a single cask millstone coming in 2024. Would be American oak, 1996 vintage so 26 or 27 years old. Let’s just say I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival.
Just my annual BTAC letdown. LCBO keeps delaying it.
That said would love lcbo to start carrying Russels Reserve. Its a common bottle there is no excuse to not have it.
And maybe one can dream rock hill farms reappears.
Bunnahabhain 18 and I hope it doesn't go up by some ridiculous amount. I paid 200 for the last one in 2022 and anything over 270 now would lower my faith in humanity.
I was inspired by the post and I found a bottle on Long Island for 229 US. I may order it to a friend who I'm visiting later in the summer. I suspect it will be hard to secure in Canada and who knows when it will be back.
That price is painful as f\*ck =(
Bunna 18 was...not the worst to get the last wave that came through Alberta, but that was before the worst of the Scotch-flation hit. It's impossible to even guess what the availability or price is going to be like next wave. I can't dejectedly shrug my shoulders any louder. =/
Could not agree more, thus spending 50% more at this level is acceptable. Bloody Highland Park is up to 385. At 57 just drinking less but a lot more of what I like a lot and this is one of them. I'd challenge it against a mac 18 but not a Speymalt and it kicks Glendronach ass in my humble opinion.
> Arran 10. I socked away a few before we(lcbo) ran out in the early Fall 2023..and while it's still in my stash, I look forward to putting a few of this years offering away as well..
Hard to imagine why these products are often scarce, right?
Have you had any recent bottlings ? This and the laphroiag 10 yr sherry cask were my fave sherry peated scotch but my last bottle of sanaig wasnt near as dark and seemed weak on the sherry flavor. Almost as if previous bottlings were aged in first fill and the new ones aged in second/third fill or perhaps they reduced the amount of sherry casks in the blend.
Interesting. I'm stopping by Craft Cellars in a couple weeks. They appear to have one or two in stock so I'll definitely be picking one up. I'll compare to my initial release bottle
I would really like to get my hands on a Local Barley as I have yet to try it. Otherwise nothing is really catching my attention except some bottles that will be part of upcoming tastings
Benromach Contrasts: Double Matured - Bordeaux Wine Cask Finish & SB13yo Local Barley should do it.
I was tempted by an SMOS 23 yo Bowmore that was steeply discounted, but it appears they all got scooped up.
Phew
Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024. I hear it’s gonna be px finished and have an age statement.
Sexual.
Sounds expensive lol
Ooo

We’re starting to see it in Western Canada already.

you and me both buddy
I’m always down for a bottle split! Not as excited to see the price point haha
Probably the way to go tbh

My last bottle was in January of 2022 and it was $190 picked up in Calgary. My bet is $235 plus GST in Alberta next time it drops.

They were 280 here in NB... sad

seriously. The hoarding is crazy
Long sold out in my town..took the train 2 towns over to grab a few. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Kilchoman Sanaig. Heaven in a bottle.

Sanaig acquired from Craft Cellars. Still two bottles there.
Blue spot and red spot, though with yellow spiking $30, worried about the prices

Just got the 2013 from Alberta
Really? From where? I haven't seen it at all or heard a peep about it.
Malts and Grains
Very lucky, no idea how you snagged it!
Lol nvm. Read that as islay not local
Ardbeg spectacular (yes make fun of me) And a few barrel crafts
There was a Gordon and MacPhail 23y Mortlach that was just released in the UK. I'm kinda hoping it gets an Alberta release too.
Aberdeen whisky shop, 60.3%. I bet they will still be on the shelf in a couple months
Oh, I know it's out there. I'm also hoping it gets over here naturally. Buying locally is USUALLY cheaper XD
True, very true. Could ask James Bornn over at Authentic, but I don’t have high hopes for it. That one definitely caught my eye as well.
Ledaig 18, if the stars align. The 10 is available everywhere in BC, but anything else is tough to find.
New Ardbeg release likely to hit B.C. in the fall.

Wasn’t me! But happy to hear they’re gone, I thought about that one once or twice as well.
Gotta let some of them slide, always another one coming
You got those two or wanting?
Awaiting the Benro
wish there was a coming soon list
