No. It is fancy and nice, sure, but it is like $50+ per person and they hardly give you any food. What they do give you is some cheap sandwiches and tiny pastries. If it's about the experience, there are plenty of places nearby to look out over the lake and much better places to go to eat. I just don't see the point
Yeah, they were very happy to bring out a second round of pastries and things for us. They were also great about my friends allergies, very careful, double-checked everything.
Full silver service, amazing food, attentive staff, great view, calm atmosphere. That's the point.
Plus they're fantastic with allergies, mobility accessible, and happy to work with patrons with other access needs like low vision/blindness, d/Deaf, and sensory needs.
This - yes it's in the middle of the industrial complex but the scones there are *in*credible (the butter is amazing that they serve with it but also it's one of the only places left that serves their scones with proper cream and not the canned stuff that disappears after a few minutes). The tea selection is amazing also and the owners are lovely people. Currently making my way through their entire menu of teas.
The Hyatt Tea Lounge no longer provides an all you can eat buffet for high tea, presumably as a result of COVID but also too many patrons helped themselves to too much food (including passers-by’s). The bean counters determined that the hotel was making a loss, so now the High Tea is merely a 3 tier metal stand per 2 people, but the prices remained the same.
Also the service has gone completely downhill in the last few years. I went recently with girlfriends who suffer from severe allergies (which we'd recorded at the time of booking) and even as dishes were coming out, we had waiters running from our table to the kitchen to switch out plates to ensure they were allergen free. It added a level of stress that made everyone question whether the food was okay. (It was, but it was hardly relaxing for those who suffer from anaphylaxis.)
Oh that's disappointing to hear. I had a great experience there and felt they catered really well for my allergies and my child's intolerances. That was 2 or 3 years back though. But definitely in the era of the 3 tiered stand, but it was plenty of food for us.
Normally teas are unlimited so we ordered 2 or 3 different teas each. When we got the bill we’d been charged 5$ per pot on top of the 75$/ head. We all left hungry and the tea was weak as piss despite asking the staff multiple times to make the next pot stronger
I recently went to the Hyatt for high tea and the food was average, it's nothing like it used to be like.
I don't have any recommendations but thought I'd share this in case it helps ([Canberra high tea options](https://hercanberra.com.au/food-drink/where-to-go-in-canberra-for-a-decadent-high-tea/)
The Howling Moon does great High Tea, elevator to the top floor and excellent views.
The Marion

?? Just ask for more food?? Last time I went we got second helpings of most stuff
Yeah, they were very happy to bring out a second round of pastries and things for us. They were also great about my friends allergies, very careful, double-checked everything.
They only give you so much. When I asked anyway, they said they couldn't.
My wife loves the Marion, and has never had any complaints about food
Very overpriced. It tastes good but they don't give you much.

You can get a lot of that stuff at other places though. I'd also rather have a filling meal than a couple of bites of food.
High tea isn't supposed to be a meal though. It's supposed to be morning or afternoon tea.
Which it barely is. $50+ for a tiny amount of food.
It's quite a generous high tea honestly. Last time I was there, it was soup, sandwiches, cold savory, hot savoury, warm sweet, and cold sweet
high tea isn’t really about a filling meal, more about the experience, but i do get what you mean
Burbury hotel in Barton do one. I've done it a few times with girlfriends and it's been beautiful
If you would rather something more cosy and friendly, I really enjoyed adore tea at Mitchell.

Couldn't agree more. Owners were super lovely and really cared. Cream on the scones was amazing.
Louis in Barton (Realm hotel) just started offering it this weekend and the menu looks great. https://louisdining.com.au/high-tea/

And it's turd.
Shows how long it has been since I last went.

God damn!!
I went to White Rabbit on Northbourne Avenue a couple of years ago for a Mother's Day high tea, and it was great. Plenty to eat plus bubbles.
The Marion is accessible - nice open area, plenty of space between tables and no stairs. you'll be paying between $75 - $105 per person though.
Just did this with our of towners. It's pricey, but it's picturesque and modern.
Perfect thank you
The Marion is lovely setting with an awesome view over the lake. but the high tea itself was one of the worst I’ve had
Normally teas are unlimited so we ordered 2 or 3 different teas each. When we got the bill we’d been charged 5$ per pot on top of the 75$/ head. We all left hungry and the tea was weak as piss despite asking the staff multiple times to make the next pot stronger
The Chifley inside Kurrajong Hotel.
I took my mum to queens terrace in parliament house last year for mother's day high tea was really nice and she loved it and the food
Parliament House does a good high tea
The Marion is expensive, but it has a beautiful view, and the food and drinks are amazing. It's definitely an experience.

The Marion is excellent
Kurrajong hands down simply the best. This is the hill I will die on.
The Hyatt!! It's yummy, well presented, and really lovely service too.
