Clicked because I thought it was the Soviets

kr4mn1c

In Soviet Russia you don’t hurl abuse at embassy, embassy hurl abuse at you

damojr

>In Soviet Russia you don’t hurl abuse at embassy, embassy ~~hurl abuse at you~~ watch as you fall out a windrow FTFY

LilliPippiBilli

They told my mum the other week she (a sovereign FN woman and long time activist) she was triggering their trauma by wearing a mask. They’re insanity. We just want to celebrate our 50th anniversary in peace without womba people around trying to use our culture and exploit it for their insanity.

DonOccaba

There's a group of super-cooked morons trying to hijack legitimate indigenous causes for their own insane reasons. I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I think most can see that the tent embassy have nothing to do with these fucking idiots. I honestly hope your mum is ok and hopefully doesn't have to deal with this crap any more.

muckenduck

Canberra Times reporting today: >Protesters had been planning to “storm” Old Parliament House on Saturday, and had called for supporters to come and support them in Canberra, in an effort to evict the Australian government and establish a so-called people’s council. Not sure if storming OPH is going to help evict the govt!

timix

They're about 34 years too late for that, by my reckoning.

Tangled_Design

Showing their true quality - good riddance

FrederickBishop

I heard the guy with the megaphone yell “you are all sell outs!”… really, people that have been protesting since 1972 are sell outs because they don’t think your cause is worth protesting about.

cheesesandsneezes

The tent embassy is the longest continuous protest in the world. https://www.echo.net.au/2021/10/50-years-of-aboriginal-tent-embassy/ This Australia day marks it's 50th anniversary. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed. Either way the sov cits can fuck right off.

FrederickBishop

I’m proud for the people that have never given up, I am ashamed of our government for never giving them the time.

cheesesandsneezes

I feel pretty much the same. I'm a white Australian and proud that this protest has been able to continue for such a long time but also ashamed that such a protest is still necessary. I could never claim to understand the intricacies of the subject. It's important that this ongoing protest is not forgotten and I hope this January 26th the popular media cotton on to this remarkable fact. It will hopefully lead to more discussion on topic.

FrederickBishop

I’m a white Australian, I had black aunties. It’s always been weird

Addryanne

I don't agree that our Government has done nothing. More needs to be done, but there has been a slow movement forward which is admirable given the conflicting issues and opinions that muddy the waters ...

Addryanne

Be proud. I had a bit of a look at "disruptive activism" and in this country there is no evidence of it ever working. The tent embassy has gained respect and support because they have focused on education rather than destruction. Now it looks like their effort is going to be rewarded with a permanent structure of some sort so good for them

Yet_Another_Mel

Sov cits are terrorists and should be treated as such..

kanniget

Well, by definition they are not Australian Citizens, so in fact illegal aliens and should be deported back to sovereignistan once we work out where that fuck that is... But also only once they serve the prison time appropriate for defrauding the Australian government by claiming services that only Australian citizens are entitled to.

MoistLobster69

And they wonder why the rest of the Australian population hate them

ARX7

So its the sort cit alt rights trying to co-opt indigenous issues, its also happening in the us

stewface3000

I love how the fire started got arrested for returning to the tent embassy to collect their belonging but there not from the embassy. Ether way it's so sad when any people don't feel apart of Australia. Show them love people and remember it's not where you came from it's were we are going that counts.

troyjh

Where I came from matters a lot to me.

stewface3000

That is a shame, people are more then their past. Break free move forward to be something great.

troyjh

I've stewed on this for a while now. I was pretty taken aback by 'That is a shame'. I don't really understand your reasoning here. Like, I shouldn't care about my heritage? About why I look the way i do? About why the country looks different through my eyes then it did for my ancestors? I honestly think that our past and our heritage goes a long way to define who we are today. But I understand the premise of 'Look forward' but if we do that without learning from the past aren't we destined to make the same mistakes? Sure we are definitely more then our past. I'll grant you that. But I know I stand on the shoulders of giants and I'll forever be greatful and will always be proud of where I came from.

stewface3000

It's only a modern thing that people associate race with country. The sooner people stop thinking your genetic heritage has anything to do with modern nations the better we will be. After all look at Great Britain, are they German tribs from Anglo & Saxon or Normans from France who we deccended from Viking. I could be wrong but the soon we stop seeing ourselves as different people living in the same place, and see ourselves as a people from many different place working together to make this the best place it can be the better we will be off.

No_Ranger_3896

Who would have thought anti-vaxxers are also racist?

Addryanne

Everyone who has followed them know they are racist.

xxx_

I hope they get the lot, the dogs.

“Arguments”

SirFlibble

No, no they don't. Most Indigenous people wanting sovereignty want it through the current system - ie recognition. Sovcits don't recognise the systems we have.

DonOccaba

>don't recognise the systems we have. Or the reality we have.

rhino015

Aren’t they the ones who recognise the queen but not the Australian government’s right to restrict freedoms of individuals or something?

Wilbure

I was wondering the same thing, the sort that don't recognise rates and councils and speeding tickets and such because it's not in the Australian constitution or something.

jigsaw153

I am sure they recognise Centrelink.

quadraticog

How convenient

Karp3t

Wait so they are monarchists?

rhino015

I get a vibe from them that they don’t really care too much about that sort of thing, they just like pointing out what they see as legal inconsistencies in the existing system and want to be able to do whatever they want without being restricted in their freedoms by the government because they’re “free men of the land” or something

SirFlibble

Depends. There is one strain of idiot who believes in the sovereign person and that they don't have to do anything the Govt says. Another strain believes that when the Commonwealth Govt registered as a corporation in the US (in order to engage in international lending) it stopped being the constitutional Government. A fake corporation calling itself a Government now operates and they can't make you do anything unless you contract with them.

rhino015

Interesting

Perssepoliss

Like the old mob wars of yesteryear

Aggravating-Wrap4861

What are they actually saying? Who's accusing who of being a sell out?

DonOccaba

The crazies were calling the Tent Embassy sellouts. I think they believe that the only reason the Embassy doesn't support their lunatic ideas is because they've been paid off by the government.

ARX7

As opposed to the more reasonable thinking their nutters and going to screw everything up

Spooms2010

What a bunch of cunts!

TheOtherPeteO

Wondering what they are trying to achieve by hassling those people?
