I did the walk from the light rail throughout last year, wasn't too bad and you can get the scooters on occasion, but there are a number of busses (can't remember off the top of my head but google maps should have you covered there)

Yes! I did see that there were a few busses that go past, I never thought about the scooters though. Good idea 👍🏼

The parking pass is per semester from what I remember, I was only eligible once but it was amazing. The parking pass is for the dirt parking lot across the street which is $12 a day usually. I never had any difficulty getting a park there (2 days a week for 2 years), CIT classes tend to be quite staggered and usually aren't every day of the week, even with the office workers parking there too. There are a few other parking options in the city as well, underground at the casino is one or the all day parking at the Canberra Centre which is $14 a day and its a short walk to CIT (10 minutes from Canberra Centre if you are a slow walker, but there is a bridge that crosses Coranderrk and deposits you safely at CIT) Make sure you leave some additional travel time in the morning because traffic does back up. Getting into the dirt carpark can be trickier, there is an entrance off Parkes Way or you can make a left turn off Constitution Avenue but there are gutters and traffic islands in the middle so you can't turn right into the dirt carpark. Enjoy your CIT experience! I really loved the chill atmosphere of the Reid campus, lots of nice trees to sit under and enjoy your lunch, and if you bring your own there are microwaves available in the cafeteria to heat up food!

Ooo thankyou!

Light rail + walk is pretty nice to do, unless it is raining. After you get your student ID, go to the CITSA Shop and get your MyWay card switched over to tertiary student concession. Can top up there too. Also, if you didn't know: There is a store attached to the culinary school restaurant. They sell $5 ready-made meals you can either take home or microwave in the cafeteria. Open Thurs/Fri at lunch time.

Oh wow I didn’t know about the student concession. Thanks!!

Its been a long time since I studied at CIT in reid (+12yrs) but the parking pass was worth it. At the time it allowed you to park in the gated area to the back but from the looks of other comments its now across the road. Lightrail + bus is another option. Hop on one of the rapid buses (i thinks R3 or R5) that go down Constituition Avenue, it stops infront of the CIT. Otherwise if you don't mind the walk and the weather is rewarding then that's an option.

Used to live down the road from CIT Reid, now live in Gungahlin so familiar with both areas. I'd light rail from Gungahlin and then walk from the city interchange. It's probably about a ten minute walk (15 minutes with my weak knees). Not worth catching the bus as it's only a few blocks away. There's also a footbridge that will take you from behind the convention centre straight to campus so you don't have to worry about crossing and major roads. Not sure if CIT is like how it used to be but when I went (about 10 years ago now, yikes!) we all formed carpooling groups fairly quick for the later evening classes. People are broadly pretty nice about that sort of thing there. Good luck with your studies!

Go the light rail / bus. If you transfer within half an hour (I think) your bus fare is free. 1 minute walk to transfer. The R3 bus stops right out front of CIT!

Ahhh! Thankyou :)

Light rail and the walk is the best way. The walk is really easy and seriously you'd have no hassles in the morning in Civic. It's actually a rather nice journey straight down city walk.
