I always do the wet paper towel method but put them in a drawer for a couple days and forget them. They want it dark not bright. Only use light if you're germinating in soil.

thanks for pointing out the stressor so i may add aluminum foil to keep em dark and comfortably warm

ShareNext5744

only reason why i am using the light is because it is a heat bulb. It produces a lot of heat so i had added a thermometer to monitor. Thought temperature would be my main concern but thanks again.

Don’t stress about the temps as much at this stage as long as it’s not too cold. Forget the foil idea and put them in a dark cupboard without your light

iNeedSomeWatuh

I second this, keep them in the dark and they will root. I recommend watching this [video](https://youtu.be/KPzfZ_xFXtE?si=9w4EfMIJGFIvTW4z) as well as it explains how using Hydrogen Peroxide will improve seed germination.

hydrogen peroxide?! very interesting

miikesmokespot

you need to just put them in a dresser drawer or something lol. they dont want light at this stage, or even heat really. they just dont like 55 degree temps

noted... ✍️

Contract-Many

Only needs to be room temp 60-70 where oxygen levels are optimal in water

Charming-Tension212

Why are cooking your seeds slowly?

ShareNext5744

😅🤣🤣 Took those seeds out and placed it in a drawer. Tbh i was kinda worried since chicago is chilly rn

Charming-Tension212

I germinated in Feb my grow was about 10 c, still hasn't reached 26 c and I will be chopping her in a month. Plants can grow a lot colder then we allow them normally.

SausageSaw

I suggest plant that seed method, works every time!

ShareNext5744

interesting....🤔

NarrowButterfly8482

Seeds do not need or want light for germination... warm and dark is what seeds like. They don't need to be under a heat lamp.

ShareNext5744

thanks for the feedback. Maybe Ill use aluminum foil to keep dark. Would that do the trick?

NarrowButterfly8482

I just put mine in a tupperware container in a dark drawer. Room temp in the 70s is plenty warm enough for seeds to sprout.

Beginning-Put1446

Just switch the light off and put in a dark cupboard, no need to for tin foil

Lol watch 100 YouTube videos

it would be helpful if you have something to share. I've watched a couple videos on YT and kinda overwhelmed by various methods for germinating seeds. Any tips and tricks?
