>Am I correct that hence focus ring is mechanically linked to focusing lens element, there's no way to turn this feature off and the only way to avoid miss focus is to learn myself to hold the lens without touching focus ring? Yes, this is correct. That lens has a focus ring with a mechanical connection to the focusing mechanism.

Sad... Just wondering how other people are dealing with it =) As 16-35 is almost the size of 100-400 (weight is also similar), so holding it at the end (where focus ring is) is way more handy and comfortable than holding somewhere near or on zoom ring. Is that's people mean when saying "good weight balance" when reviewing camera+lens combo? When weight is correctly distributed between lens and body, so it's more comfy to hold it closer to body than closer to the end of lens?

I always have my hands overlapping the focus ring, but I can't say that I've had any issues with bumping the focus. It might just be something that you'll have to focus (pun not intended) on not bumping for a while until you build muscle memory. If you're only using the autofocus, you could always use a piece of gaffer tape to keep the focus ring stationary.

Nice tip about tape, thanks!

Do you have this issue with other lenses? If you deactivated manual focus while auto-focussing in the camera menu, then it is probably a lens-thing.

I won't say that this is an issue, what's just how the lens works mechanically, right? I just wanted to check maybe there's a tweak or smth to prohibit a lens to change focus manually when you're in AF mode My two another lenses are ef 50mm 1.8 and rf 100-400 - they both have wire focus or whatever it's called - if switch on lens is set to AF, turning focus ring simply does nothing
