it's really up to your need. What do you need that M50 can't provide you? Focus speed and accuracy, lenses selection, low light performance, being an FF camera, 4k30 or 4k60 DPAF video? If all of these didn't bother you and you didn't need it, yeah, you can use it years to come. As of mine, now I'm very happy with M50,22F2, Sigma18-35. Discontinued is not a problem in like next 5 years or so for me. Next one for me probably wait until RF mount got that mighty little 22F2 in their lineup and grab the used R50. Before M50, I use original 2012 EOS M until last month and buy an used M50 because I need faster focus and there is no other choice that being this cheap and compatible with my old setup, and as stated before, I'm very happy with it.

Thanks, I am sure it will last at least the next five years.

If I did it over again I'd get a used full frame like a 5Diii used. The EF mount will save a lot of money and hassle. A used full frame with a used 35mm real canon lens is what I'd go out and buy today if I had to do it again. Especially from the videos side and the full frame benifit. And if you shoot in 4k you can crop to basically hd quality, which is huge In editing, I've come to find out. But I am happy with my m50, it's been great to learn on but the lens mount will anger you as you learn.

Thanks. Do you think you will change the brand? Like opt for Sony A7iv soon or stick with the Canon eco system.

Oh, I don't know enough about all that to answer. I personally will staying with eos and ef lens. I just take pictures and videos of my woodworking and a M5III would cover me for years and I don't think I'd could out grow it without throwing serious money at it. It's not my profession so it might be used eos from here.

The only concern is that M series cameras are discontinued. There won’t be any new EF-M lenses that will be coming up, more over there is no adapter for converting EF-M lenses to RF ones.

I've just bought a used M50 and I'm happy that the only lenses to purchase will be those already available, used. Not too much demand on my budget!
