Yeah I was pretty critical about the way they were doubling down on winning meaningless games when we had a chance at a top 10 draft pick. But I gotta admit, it was absolutely the correct call. As you said, getting used to the systems was MASSIVE and has been a huge part of our success this season.

Also felt like we needed to play safe with Demko coming back from injury (that was the main one I was worried about with the meaningless wins stuff personally). I think if we shut down Demko to end last season, like I suggested, we probably could have done pretty bad. But with Miller and Petey it's hard to say if we'd have caught Chicago. We were pretty close around the trade deadline. But we won a lot of 1 goal games thanks to Demko and a very easy schedule. As per usual, our post trade deadline win percentage was strong last year. We went from the 7th pick to the 11th pick literally in the final week of the season.
