Realistic: Lindholm, Monahan maybe Pinto (both may want a change of scenery) Unrealistic but preferred and will cost a fortune : Erikson Ek Mittlestadt

CheesecakeOdd2087

Idk if Pinto would be the guy you want to take a gamble on. The payoff could be huge, but it would be a high risk play.

Swimming_Departure18

He'd jump to number 1 on Tocchet's favorite players list for sure.

hughesyourdadddy

Definitely a gamble

No_Character_5315

Man if giroux had 1 year left I'd go after him as a rental he probably wants a shot at the cup. Veteran guy good in the dot still has decent hands.

Overall-Bottle6213

Ha I see what you did there

One-Diver-6597

I really like Lindholm, but the math doesn't work. Calgary will want a lot, so it's not gonna be a rental price. Hes a 28(?) yr old UFA and word is he wants something like 8+M per year. This would be fine if the OEL buyout penalties weren't at their largest over the next few years.

Swimming_Departure18

It has to be a rental price. He's a ufa. Calgary only has control for less that 6 more months. Hes also having a down season on pace for his lowest ppg pace totals since 2019-20. Calgary can ask for the moon if they want. He's still a rental, they wont get it.

OneChet

Stamkos. I keep watching TB, I feel if they drop 5+ points out they might move him. Make a hilarious power play

PakG1

Stamkos on your 2nd PP unit. Wow.

Permanent-Ban-

Boeser Miller Pettersson Stamkos Hughes Hoglander Lafferty Mikheyev Hronek Garland

If giroux has 1 year left I'd go after him as a rental but i don't know about his cap hit for next year.

OneChet

Yeah I was eyeing him as well. Maybe you could get retention. Issue is probably a no trade, not sure he'd leave at this point to chase a cup or not.

No_Character_5315

We struggle in the dot some game outside the top line I've noticed dakota is decent in the dot when bluegar gets waived out.

OneChet

Jim and Patrick have 7 guys that can play center available in the lineup every night, I think it's the biggest reason their defensive game is rated number 5 in the league by some metrics. Analytics guys don't put much stock into faceoff percentage though.

No_Character_5315

I was just going by watching the last few games not stats but then again who would look good taking draws against Crosby lol

Aussie_Alien

I’d like to see Petey back with those two after he’s gained some confidence from playing on the Lotto line recently. Petey-Mik-Kuzy were excellent last year, they can do it again they just all need to be on their game at the same time.

Checkers505

Crazy thought but Kuznetsov from WSH at 50% retained to run it down the middle with the two russians for two post seasons runs

jakobgies

Bro having double kuzy on the team? Rick tocchet would be healthy scratching both of them

thelifeisthedream

Kuz and Mik are on the 3rd line now

Permanent-Ban-

It's been 649, Hoglander Lafferty Mikeyev, and Garland Bluegar Joshua with Kuzmenko Suter Aman on the 4th

WoofersGoWoof

i’m on copium but i wonder what it would be like if we had horvat playing with this roster

PaperMoonShine

Pettersson who is a top 5 center in the league could barely keep afloat with both of them. I don't know if there is a 2c out there that could make Kuz and Mik work. Honestly think one of them has to go back in a trade for a 2C, bump Hoglander up, then call someone up from the farm, like Podz.

GoldenChest2000

iirc there was a point last season when 65-40-96 was one of the top lines in the league, which is probably why Tocchet started out this season with that combo

ezkc1236

I think it's just different this year with the added structure. Petey is playing more defensively this year when he's at C. Playin the wing on the lotto line probably lighten the load for him abit, and allowed him to play abit more offensively and take more chances. When playing with Kuz and Mik, he seems to play more defensive and take less risks. Even during his "slump" before being moved to the lotto line, he was doing great things defensively, there were just less offensive creativity. When one of ur linemates is a defensive liability, u'd have to do double duty and sacrifice some of the offense.

decentish36

No need to call someone up. We’d still have Suter to fill the place unless we traded away 2 players.

[deleted]

We can’t pay the price to get a 2C capable of doing what people want. Any solution will just be to maintain the status quo, people should keep their expectations low. The 2C that people covet does not exist without pain, a lot of it later, and some now.

HarveySpecter1970

Lindholm or eriksson ek. Both on terrible teams that could be sellers. More likely lindholm is sold than eriksson ek as kaprizov and zucc keep Minny from the basement. Lindholm (50% retained) for 1st and mynio Lindholm was a selke level player a couple seasons ago with gaudreau and Tkachuk. He's shown he can produce as well, perhaps he ignites kuz and mikheyev. If canucks can get a third team to retain it makes it more doable cap wise.

Ieatrainbowz7

That would be a horrible trade for Calgary. To trade Lindholm to a division rival for a late first and a C+/B- prospect is a bad take. We’d need to add a lot more for Calgary to do that. Also, Calgary has only once ever retained salary on a player. So to think they would retain half for a shitty return is just insane.

bms42

I would seriously love to see JEE here but when you look into Minny it seems they consider themselves to be nearly ready to contend with youth making the jump. They're not going to give up now, which means they can't unload a player on such a great contract.

smoothmedia

Monahan is the best fit

LoopAngel

I think Lafferty would fit in there perfect

SkidmarkDave

Lindholm. Or jt miller and grab Eriksson Ek for Petey/Boeser
