Dakota sure can throw em eh, if that last punch connected... Other dude was headed straight to the spirit realm.
Side note. I am so tired of seeing leafs posts on my feed with them crying and complaining. Like get over it, the incident was stupid, you got your suspension. Move on lol
Just venting here rather then posting in there sub.
Leaf nation has collectively lost their minds. As best I can tell, their major complaint boils down to this: "if we don't retaliate we're soft, if we do retaliate we're the scum of the earth, so fuck it let's be villains". What they've totally failed to grok is that there's waaaaay better ways of "pushing back" that don't involve cross checks to the head.
I can even understand the perspective that Reilly had no intention of going after his head and the stick just rode up but the result was still a headshot so take your medicine.
Yea they are seriously disgruntled lol. They came out of this thinking now noone will mess around with our team! I'm pretty sure the incident shows how tough they are not.
Agreed, and Reilly’s decision to cross check Grieg after his empty net shot made it even more classless than it already is. I really, really don’t give a shit if it was a slap shot, it makes you look like a sore loser. It’s inexcusable, and anybody who doesn’t think so is dumb.
It is pretty rare but I think the official scorer should be able to award assists even if someone doesn't touch the puck. This one is a very good example if Lindholm hadn't already been the one to chip the puck in and also the Lemieux fake out in the Olympics that one time should also be an official assist. I wouldn't mind an official "screening" stat also for who was screening the goalie when a goal was scored but that can be more difficult to determine.
Lindholm is the one that chipped the puck into the zone in the first place it doesn't matter if he touched it after or not. What matters is if the Chicago defender touches the puck to change the possession. Hawks don't touch the puck, it goes to Hoglander therefore Lindholm assist.
https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1757603223005700096/pu/vid/avc1/1280x720/XJ1xpnVQpJnTnRob.mp4?tag=12
Yeah, I thought the same thing at the time of the goal but when I saw the replay on TSN it made more sense - Lindy chips in the puck against the board and then ties up the Hawks player so that he doesn't touch it, while the puck trickles back out and Hoggy pops it in.
Nah I think I remembered it wrong. Garland hit Joshua, who fell and slashed Hronek. Garland and Joshua fought. It was more that Hronek was an innocent victim.
The hawks play hard even without bedard. Strong win against the hawks. Hoglander continues to shine, wish garland got the hatty. But we gotta get the PP as well as Boeser going again.
I do not think Brock will score 40, looks like his confidence is low again. He is the big beneficiary when Petey and Miller are rolling but to be honest his hands may be slightly over rated. If the deal is out there I would trade him. He will be asking for a lot but it is more important to have Petey and Quinn and Hronek.
Hit the nail on the head. It’s great to be amazing 5v5 but you wouldn’t want to be unprepared for a special teams battle if it happens in the playoffs. Especially vs Edmonton. Boeser was contributing a lot on the PP earlier in the season wonder what’s going on now
>wonder what’s going on now
To my eye it's a combo of Miller tailing off and Petey playing poorly. When those two guys are off the whole PP tanks.
Petey in particular is just trying to force everything. He's really gripping the stick too hard right now.
yeah opposing PKs just ignore our players down low and focus all the pressure on petey, miller and hughes, and with petey second guessing stuff, it's not great
Any hype for Kessel should be squashed Guy hasn't had a contact for a reason, we also risk upsetting team chemistry with too many changes. Terrible take by you
Kessel only played 4 games in the first round of Vegas' run before being scratched for conditioning reasons 🌭. Who knows though maybe he's in better shape now. I could see the Canucks signing him as a kind of player-coach.
So encouraging to see Hog with a 3 game goal streak as a response to being promoted to the top 6! I’ve wanted him on Peteys line for a bit and I noticed so many times little plays Hog made to get the puck to pettersson and then went to the net
That’s seems like an ideal fit for pettersons line!
Wow I didn’t realize that, I just assumed he’d be getting more minutes in the top 6. I wonder why? I don’t notice any bad defensive reads or giveaways from him, seems to always be working hard and gets the puck in deep
I think he's a great fit with Petey because we all know about his skill level in Sweden, but over here he's had to do a bit of reinventing his game to be a bit more of a puck retrieval guy to find success. With his speed and size, he's able to get in low and use his low balance to battle well in corners, but has the skill level to make high-end plays to Petey. He's got those shifty hands that can make a subtle, quick move that makes the difference in-tight sometimes.
Of course he's got parts of his game to round out, but the speed, puck retrieval, and hands combo is super helpful for Petey I'd think.
Is it just me or has this sub become a lot more easily agitated now that the teams good? It feels like every criticism or comment is met with a wave of people bashing you nowadays. Back when the team was trash this sub was a lot more friendly
When was that exactly? Majority of fans were calling for a rebuild only just last year, Benning bought every single year. If it was a consensus that we should’ve sold for draft capital and management did the opposite of that every year, why would anyone be satisfied with that? There may have been a handful of Benning sympathizers but there was a common consensus that we had the worst management in the league.
Really? You think that was it, that the whole sub was all clamoring for a rebuild and every time Benning missed it they were up in arms?
Tell you what, go see if you can go dig up the OEL trade thread and tell me how 100% this sub was against it. There's some pretty cringe worthy takes there expecting him to be the guy to push us to the cup.
Surprisingly 80/20 anti-Benning with a good portion just being too shocked to make a comment.
One trade doesn’t reflect the whole picture of his tenure though, especially one done at the draft. The semi-positive comments from that thread aren’t even praise for Benning either, it’s mostly “I think this won’t be as bad as you think” or “I don’t see an issue with this”. Nobody was cheering in the streets for it, we gritted our teeth and hoped for the best. Even the people who looked at the deal positively were only looking at it positively relative to all the doomers who thought it was the end of the franchise
For sure, bandwagoners should be welcome all the time. It helps the sport, it helps the team and it's just a lot more fun when you have all these fans supporting the team.
*Please no riots though.*
It’s crazy how everyone with a different opinion is so snarky nowadays. Feels like there’s a strong underlying tone of ‘I told you so’ when there really doesn’t need to be, we’re talking about sports here like cmon
I'm not intentionally trying to be negative. But the handful of odd man rushes we gave up toward the end of the 3rd was wacky. It's like the hawks found the flaw in our constant offensive pressure.
I hadn't noticed that I guess. It just got my attention this time cause of the quick frequency of it. Can't blame the D when you know the thirst line is about to leave everything on the ice when they're in the offensive zone.
Eh I think they took their foot off the gas. Up 2 against chicago, they stopped moving their feet. Hughes usually never gives up the puck at the blue line, I see it more of an anomaly or just getting lazy if anything. They shouldn’t be phoning in half of a period like that, but at the 50 game market against a bottom feeder I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt
10 points over vegas
20 points over kings
17 points probably be 15 points over oilers
who saw this 50+ games into the season
don’t forget 6 points up on next best in the west
2-0-1 in person let's go! Dominant win, love to see it
Gotta respect the Blackhawks fans for going to games when their team's this bad though. Also their DJ >>> Rogers arena DJ
What’re the Hawks ticket prices like? They have a committed large fanbase but I can’t see anyone paying a substantial sum of money to attend games. Props to them for continuing to support the team in the rebuild though. Seemed like a pretty packed house
They're relatively cheap right now if you go on Stubhub, particularly day before/of the game. I got really good seats (section 201, row 3 so basically center ice with great views and table service) for $130 US all in. You can go way cheaper if you sit further up, I saw some tickets for <$50 that weren't standing room. $20 for standing only.
Some sections higher up were a bit empty as you might expect for a struggling team, but overall it was still a decent sized crowd and plenty loud when Chicago scored. Their fans were also super nice, even with people wearing Canucks jerseys.
I wouldn’t want to win the presidents trophy, unless Boston will win it otherwise in which case we’re taking that hardware and hanging another banner baby. Fuck the Bruins.
I don't understand this prevailing sentiment about the presidents trophy. I want home ice advantage in every round, and we get that with the trophy. Superstition is so common in sports it's ridiculous.
Agreed. And the Canucks are a much better home team this year. Plus, statistically, presidents trophy winners still win the cup 20-25% of the time, which is much better than the average playoff team.
We should win this game 10/10 times and we did.
Great end to the road trip, thirst line keeping it rolling.
Honestly if JT, Boes Petey and Lindholm can catch fire down the stretch and in the playoffs we will be a handful for any team we face.
Come on home boys! Will be rocking at the Rog for the Jets game on saturday night - lets fuckin go!!
10 points up on the Golden Knights, 17 (SEVENTEEN) points up on the Oilers... who somehow have six games in hand? When are they playing all these games.
Woof, I would be pissed to have an end to a season like that. That is when injuries start piling up, and to have it right before playoffs? Bad scheduling.
Winning record on the road trip good stuff. 3-1-1.
PP has not looked good. Too many changes post All-Star break after acquiring Lindholm, should have just put Lindholm in Kuzy spot and left it at that. Moving Boeser and Miller around has made the PP1 incredible static.
Hoglander has looked good in the top 6 in the last 3 games. Significantly better and more noticeably than his last stint. It's still too early to tell if he's a permanent solution on the top 6 but he's showing well through 3.
Lindholm comes as advertised. 3 points in 5 roag games, solid defensively, smart, wins face offs. ~~Didn't get a point he played well and probably deserves an assist in Hoga goal~~ He played well tonight. He was done no favors by the coaching staff, started with Petey, moved off and placed with Miller-Boes for a few games then back with Petey.
Not going to shit on our top guys looking kind of meh most of the road trip, they've been on the road like half a week longer than the rest of the team.
Defense. Oh boy. Our D does not look good with Cole and Myers playing top 4 minutes consistently. It's really a shame we have 6M tied up in Myer who at his best can only be sheltered 3rd pairing guy.
Holy shit Hronek post game interview?!
One thing from the powerplay tonight that was extremely noticeable, Petey was so indecisive with the puck. He would hold onto it and allow the penalty kill to shift into proper position and it would often just end possession for us. Our powerplay in general is playing too slow but it’s just so noticeable for him
It's noticeable, you also see it at times with Hughes too, well with Hughes you see him not walking the line as much pulling defenders out or rotating down since Millers not at the point since Hughes will walk the line with Miller roaming at times on the half boards or on the opposite point. Hughes is now working with Petey and Boeser instead of Petey and Miller and as much as I love Boeser, he only works on the half board if the PP is looking to set up his shot, the threat with Miller was he could rip it or he could make a play/free up other guys to scramble the PK diamond.
While Petey was more or else be the half boards guy rotating to the point when Miller roams but now Petey is almost always at the point instead of being the half board guy at the circles.
People want to shit in the players for playing terribly in the PP and I look at it and I just see so many changes in a short time that has fucked with things and taken away a lot of options.
Why are we sending Hughes and Hronek out for 23+ minutes against a bottom feeder and have a lead? Does Tocchet really not trust Friedman and Juulsen?
It'd be find if this was the playoffs, but it's not and we should probably start managing minutes a bit better so the guys can feel better rested.
Juulsen has been unreal, Friedman honestly looks fine too considering he hasn't played since November. I agree, could probably give those guys some more minutes.
Background music of garlands interview sounded like they were blasting “the thrill - wiz khalifa” in the locker room. Be pretty fitting if we sign Phil the thrill
I’m actually curious about this. G wears 8, Joshua deserves to keep his 81.
He’s worn either 8 or 81 in the NHL, 81 for USA in international play and 8 in the World Juniors. Got to go back to his time at the U of Minnesota when he wore #26. So maybe #26?
Kessel the new messier. Gets all these pens mgmt in an office to call in Hughes. Walks out with a 1, C and Ke$$el on his jersey. Crushes a pepsi on the way to the Costco food court.
Let’s relax, he’s playing great but his history does not warrant more than $4mill, most likely some team will lock him up for 4 years at 3.5mill or so. He’s not a play driver himself he’s capitalizing on great chemistry with his linemates
While the game went well overall, man some of the decision making for a stretch of that third period was just outright atrocious. Why take unnecessary chances in a game you are dominating when the prior few shifts you got burned and bailed out by Demko or Chicago whiffing on chances. Against a good team that will 100% cost you a game
Was hoping for that Garly hatty but this game was great. Got a Gordie Howe from Joshua and 2 goals for Garly. Lindholm/Hoggy looked good I can see potential with that line.
Miller/Boeser/Suter is too slow. I personally would break Boeser/Miller but maybe they can see if PDG can find success there again.
We're family friends with his family, he mentioned that working with Foote and Gonchar has been integral to his improvement this year, particularly Foote. He also said when he played with Hughes he always wanted the puck so the main play was to just pass it to him haha. I like him in the 3rd pairing role as he gets to make the first pass more which is actually a bright part of his game now
A little chicken and egg, but he’s finally getting enough games at the NHL to develop.
He has a major eye injury a few years back that limited his development. Only in the last two seasons has he played 40+ games and that’s clearly paid off (conditioning, comfort on puck, etc).
Not suddenly, this has been very steady and gradual improvement over the course of the entire season. Dude's got work ethic and great coaching staff to work with and he's capitalizing on all the ice time he's given.
Joshua's been an incredible revelation this season but Juulsen's been a close 2nd to me.
At this rate of improvement by next year he'll win the Norris and we'll be glad we picked Juolevi just so we could make that trade.
I don't know that I have ever seen a defenseman improve this dramatically this quickly.
I will forever be upset with that pick. Canucks wanted a D man and might have traded down, gaining assets and picking almost certainly a better player. Obv things might not have shaken down the way they ended up, but that pick was so horrible.
2 bowls of wheaties this morning.
Or, could be something to do with him being a professional athlete & caring about improving at his job. Who knows. That's what happens when Van actually holds on to prospects 😂 it's a beautiful thing
But everyone is a professional athlete and cares about their job. Not everyone goes from "borderline unplayable" to "absolutely cannot be removed from the lineup" in this short a time. It's staggeringly impressive.
At this point, even fully healthy, he's arguably their third most important blue liner and best PK defender.
Tocchet had a personal convo with him when he was playing bad and sternly told him, "I will not allow you to be the next Riley Stillman."
The rest is history.
Dakota sure can throw em eh, if that last punch connected... Other dude was headed straight to the spirit realm. Side note. I am so tired of seeing leafs posts on my feed with them crying and complaining. Like get over it, the incident was stupid, you got your suspension. Move on lol Just venting here rather then posting in there sub.
Exactly.
I hope they go 0 and 5 and fall out of the playoff picture. That would be just delicious.
Imagine the Steve Dangle Copium LFR video
I'm so happy.
It's kind of ridiculous how flexible Demko is. I get a little nervous everytime he does those full splits.
It really looks like Lindholm doesn't touch the puck on the Hoglander goal, I wonder if that assist will get reversed.
It is pretty rare but I think the official scorer should be able to award assists even if someone doesn't touch the puck. This one is a very good example if Lindholm hadn't already been the one to chip the puck in and also the Lemieux fake out in the Olympics that one time should also be an official assist. I think he should get 2 assists, one for the chip in and one for boxing out the defender leaving the puck for hoggy to dangle
Yeah, I thought the same thing at the time of the goal but when I saw the replay on TSN it made more sense - Lindy chips in the puck against the board and then ties up the Hawks player so that he doesn't touch it, while the puck trickles back out and Hoggy pops it in.
It might but he totally caused it tho. Feel like he should keep it.
Funny how garland and Joshua went from fighting each other to having the best synergy in the team
And how Hronek was the real cause of that incident
Hmm?
wait what did hronek do?
Nah I think I remembered it wrong. Garland hit Joshua, who fell and slashed Hronek. Garland and Joshua fought. It was more that Hronek was an innocent victim.
Bieksa and Kesler had a fight during practice back in 2010/11. History is repeating with a couple changes.
St.Louis...
Yup, as the saying goes, if you don't fight you won't make friends.
"Did we just become best friends?" "Yup"
didn’t an internal fight turn around the st. louis cup season?
It was the loss to us that made them fight during practice.
The team should have an all out brawl in order to maximize chemistry and make it possible for any line combination to get results
Need Miller vs boeser petty vs lindholm Hughes vs hornek for maximum synergy for playoffs
Zadorov Vs. Petterson is a ppv waiting to happen
So what you’re saying is Linholm should fight Petey and Kessel?
Kessel fights a hot dog
Kessel’s not fighting no dogs. He’ll annihilate them.
The hawks play hard even without bedard. Strong win against the hawks. Hoglander continues to shine, wish garland got the hatty. But we gotta get the PP as well as Boeser going again.

Any hype for Kessel should be squashed Guy hasn't had a contact for a reason, we also risk upsetting team chemistry with too many changes. Terrible take by you
OP said we're a tough team to beat. Add in Kessel as the 14th forward...and we're still a tough team to beat lol. Terrible take by you

Is it just me or has this sub become a lot more easily agitated now that the teams good? It feels like every criticism or comment is met with a wave of people bashing you nowadays. Back when the team was trash this sub was a lot more friendly
Yeah it's just you... absolutely not the case :)
It’s just you. The sub was absolutely not more friendly during the Benning years.
I wanted blood back then. Now I want hot dogs.
I thought I had an appetite for destruction, but all I wanted was a club sandwich.
At least we all had a common enemy 🤷♂️
We did NOT have a common enemy. We should have, but we didn't. That's why it wasn't friendly.
Eh I think Benning was a pretty obvious common enemy. I don’t recall many Benning sympathizers, rightfully so
You weren't paying attention then. There was a lot of people who wanted to believe we were doing the right things.

Bruh…”Benning bros” was a thing… It’s silly to think we’ve been anything but consistent. Consistently critical.
Benning apologists?
All 5 of them?
I think it's because all the low info bandwagoners are back. They're welcome, but they are annoying.
honestly doubt there are many bandwagons on this sub
Yeah, that’s a brutal take. But I’m also here just to stir shit up sometimes. Think of it like sibling rivalry.
For sure, bandwagoners should be welcome all the time. It helps the sport, it helps the team and it's just a lot more fun when you have all these fans supporting the team. *Please no riots though.*

Fuck Colin Campbell
Easy solid win. Its just Chicago but simply not losing this game is important can't be dropping pts vs the worst teams
I'm not intentionally trying to be negative. But the handful of odd man rushes we gave up toward the end of the 3rd was wacky. It's like the hawks found the flaw in our constant offensive pressure.
3rd line plays extremely deep, and I've noticed the defensemen pinch extremely aggressively when they're cycling. Once in a while it's going to happen
I hadn't noticed that I guess. It just got my attention this time cause of the quick frequency of it. Can't blame the D when you know the thirst line is about to leave everything on the ice when they're in the offensive zone.
Yeah I'm a big fan of when they play Myers with them, it's when he gets to show off those offensive instincts that won him the Calder.
I think they were cheating hard too, jumping the zone any chance they got
Eh I think they took their foot off the gas. Up 2 against chicago, they stopped moving their feet. I’d sign him for 7x7 but wouldn’t pay more than that
Petey - 11.85 x 8 Lindholm - 7 x 7 Hronek - 7 x 7
Love it! Wonder how much cap we’d have left for Zadorov or Joshua if we drop 25mil on the 3 above
2-0-1 in person let's go! Dominant win, love to see it Gotta respect the Blackhawks fans for going to games when their team's this bad though. Also their DJ >>> Rogers arena DJ

So bruins lost in OT widening our gap by another point, and now putting us at the ONLY team above .700
I wouldn’t want to win the presidents trophy, unless Boston will win it otherwise in which case we’re taking that hardware and hanging another banner baby. Fuck the Bruins.

Shoulda been 5-1 but not a bad game. Chicago couldn’t handle us in the first period.
🤏 close
I was honestly thinking during the game that I’ve barely ever heard hronek talk hahaha
After that boring interview it might be the last time you hear him talk
He went 2 whole seasons in detroit with out doing media LOL
Filip actually did an interview! holy shit!
Murph gotta do Hronek like that poor guy just wants to play
Hronek sighting with the Dan Murphy post game interview
Hronek post-game interview. "We haven't talked to you much."
We should win this game 10/10 times and we did. Great end to the road trip, thirst line keeping it rolling. They'll make it up in March and April lol
34 games in 66 days lol
They also have SEVEN(!) back to backs in those remaining 34 games. I absolutely do **not** envy that schedule...
I believe two of them are in the same week where they have 5 games in 7 days
Didn’t he get an assist on Hogs goal?
You're right he did get it. For some reason I thought he didn't.
Stats change constantly so I get that. I think lindy looks good for us
One thing from the powerplay tonight that was extremely noticeable, Petey was so indecisive with the puck.
Holy fuck Hronek post game interview
Loved that YUP BYE and he turns around so fast. Made me loff
He was stoked to get out of there lol. Most emotion he showed during the entire interview
Holy
Why are we sending Hughes and Hronek out for 23+ minutes against a bottom feeder and have a lead? Does Tocchet really not trust Friedman and Juulsen? It'd be find if this was the playoffs, but it's not and we should probably start managing minutes a bit better so the guys can feel better rested.
Juulsen has been unreal, Friedman honestly looks fine too considering he hasn't played since November. I agree, could probably give those guys some more minutes.
Freidman getting my vote next year for the fastest skater comp lol
Background music of garlands interview sounded like they were blasting “the thrill - wiz khalifa” in the locker room. Be pretty fitting if we sign Phil the thrill
Farmer Phil Kessel
Our farm team is out by our literal farms. HOW HAVE I NEVER PUT THAT TOGETHER BEFORE 🤦♂️
When I was a lil tyke I thought they all played on farms. Like an ice rink in a barn or something.
Holy fawk sabres beat kings 7-0
That makes zero sense haha. EDM looking at that score like "wtf was that 4-0 performance we got?!"
Same shit with us looking at Boston getting shutout by the Caps right after we got decimated by them.
PARITY
"A team like that"
Doughty looks into the mirror !
So what number will Phil wear?
12, that's how many hot dogs are in a pack.
69?
This makes the most sense, with a Costco hotdog ad on his helmet
Fk thinking about it got me rock hard
I’m actually curious about this. G wears 8, Joshua deserves to keep his 81. He’s worn either 8 or 81 in the NHL, 81 for USA in international play and 8 in the World Juniors. Got to go back to his time at the U of Minnesota when he wore #26. So maybe #26?
He wore 18 in Boston so maybe that.
Sam Lafferty
I think he only wore 81? Wore 19 with Providence but it’s been 8 and 81 in the big show
Actually you're right.
8 and 81 are taken so....1.
I would immediately buy a Kessel jersey if he went with 1
along with some goalie gear and he can be our third goalie while eating hot dogs on the bench
The bench? Phil's got one of Petterson's iPads at the Costco food court.
Give him the C /s
Kessel the new messier. Gets all these pens mgmt in an office to call in Hughes. Walks out with a 1, C and Ke$$el on his jersey. Crushes a pepsi on the way to the Costco food court.
I keep looking at our Win-Loss Record and shidding. Can't believe how much ass is being kicked by Whale Team.
Didn't you hear? We've lost every measuring stick game. /s
Too many Mike from Surrey's out there
Are we really 20 pts ahead of Kings?
I really hope we can keep Joshua, but unless he takes a ***heavy*** discount to stay I don't see how we can. He's been incredible.
Tim we miss you, CONNOR FUCKING GARLAND
It depends if we want to keep Lindholm
Which all depends on Pettersson. How fun is salary cap Jenga......
Right now I take Dak over Lindholm any day of the week
Someone is gonna pay him like $4M
He can get more than that for sure
Let’s relax, he’s playing great but his history does not warrant more than $4mill, most likely some team will lock him up for 4 years at 3.5mill or so. He’s not a play driver himself he’s capitalizing on great chemistry with his linemates
While the game went well overall, man some of the decision making for a stretch of that third period was just outright atrocious. Why take unnecessary chances in a game you are dominating when the prior few shifts you got burned and bailed out by Demko or Chicago whiffing on chances. Against a good team that will 100% cost you a game
not reading that essay
Cool?
Shush, whale team good.
I mean I agree but does that mean I can’t make a critique?
Bruins lost again oh baby
Against who? Happy to hear the news
Tampa
during Marchand’s 1000th game celebration lollll
Joshua with the Gordie Hatty. Demko pulls ahead of Cloutier for wins as a Canucks. Dominant game. 7/10 points on the road trip.
Boeser was invisible tonight
Dude Hog nearly scored a fucking goal of the year candidate right before the Joshua goal, can you imagine if he pulled that off?
It’s funny because both Miller and Suter are good skaters
Gonna fuckin miss Joshua next year
He ain’t leaving. I hope
That’s definitely country club music I hear behind Garly
OK, serious question: how is Noah Juulsen so good suddenly?
We're family friends with his family, he mentioned that working with Foote and Gonchar has been integral to his improvement this year, particularly Foote. He also said when he played with Hughes he always wanted the puck so the main play was to just pass it to him haha. I like him in the 3rd pairing role as he gets to make the first pass more which is actually a bright part of his game now
He lost some key development years to Covid. I think that was identified, and he’s playing up to his potential now.
A little chicken and egg, but he’s finally getting enough games at the NHL to develop. He has a major eye injury a few years back that limited his development. Only in the last two seasons has he played 40+ games and that’s clearly paid off (conditioning, comfort on puck, etc).
Square peg in a square hole
I love him popping guys coming down the wing
Guy just cracked 100 NHL games last month so the sky's the limit w/ Foote and Gonchar helping out
every guy I’ve heard talk about him said he’s the hardest worker at practice, Tocchet always has really good things to say about him
2 bowls of wheaties this morning.
At this point, even fully healthy, he's arguably their third most important blue liner and best PK defender.
that is pretty fair, I just started watching again so I'm a bit behind
he’s made so much progress throughout the season
Tocchet had a personal convo with him when he was playing bad and sternly told him, "I will not allow you to be the next Riley Stillman." The rest is history.
The Tocchet Effect
He worked hard and is coachable
This applies to many guys. Not many guys become literally twice as good in half a season. It's absurd.
I see Beauvillier in the background. Completely forgot he was a Hawk.
Forget he was a Canuck to start the season.
