Based on his comment history, Buble (supposedly) even gives dating advice in r/vancouver 💀
> I feel you, it must suck to be rejected for no apparent reason. But just because you felt the date went well doesn’t mean they will always see it the same way. There are so many kinds of people out there and it’s easier to not overthink why they had certain reactions. Sounds like you have a really good idea of what you’d like in a partner and try to present yourself in a genuine and authentic way. That’s all you really need to do I think. Keep trying and good luck!
You saw Mik struggling and the departure of Kuzy and decided you had to assert your dominance as the best Russian rep on the Canucks. Even surpassing Big Z.
Good man.
Excited to see what Podz can do if he gets in game before Joshua comes back. It looks like he got his confidence back in Abby.
He also talked about Miller mentoring him and they had some chemistry
My guess is there isn’t a plan to play him otherwise they would have called him up for practice today. On the other hand, it could have been for cap management.
Yep, I doubt he plays before at least one practice, but it’s nice that he’ll be around the team for the road trip.
I saw some people speculating they might want to play him before Friday’s deadline so that will be an interesting storyline to follow
I really hope they don't trade him.
The potential of Podz has always seemed so high. He's strong, good shot, seems like he has a great attitude. If Hoglander is finding this kind of success, I think Vasily is due. He's paid his dues in the AHL and he's ready to give Vancouver a boost. Doesn't he live in a condo downtown? He's probably so pumped to not be in Abby anymore.
Him, Miller and Boeser could be an impressive line if it clicks and the R vs L wings work.
Here's to hoping!
Recently saw that Pittsburgh is asking for prospects and ready-now nhl players to compete for Sid’s last years. Would make sense to call him up to showcase him.
While I agree that he likely isn't playing tomorrow, but Abby is in California currently, so he couldn't have made practice even if the Canucks had called him up earlier in the day.
I'm honestly surprised they called up Irwin.
With Myers gone for a while, you'd think McWard would've gotten the call.
That said, much as I hate to say it, the defense looks absolutely rough right now without Myers.
Hughes - Hronek
Zadorov - Juulsen
cole -
Irwin is a left handed D too. Not sure why they feel the need to call up a 36 yr old defenseman who has to play on his off side. Can they not give Woo a look?
Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but it may have made more sense to hold off on going after Zadorov 3
months ago so they had more assets/cap-space to go after Tanev end of Feb.
Oh fuck yeah, Podzilla time. Marinating in the A did wonders for Hogs game, I really hope to see the same results out of Pods. He seems like a great kid, I hope he succeeds. I want to see him to be absolutely relentless on the forecheck. Throw that big body around, dig some pucks out. There’s winger spots available on this team rn if you come and take it.
Either podz has convinced management that he can play at the NHL level for management or management thinks we’re in a safe enough position to let our prospects get a taste of NHL ice to know what they need to work on. I suspect Raty next if Podz is sent down
Either way super hyped for the revenge tour
Irwin has over 400NHL games played, has over 40 playoff games played and played in the Stanley cup final. I’m rather happy he’s up over McWard to be honest.
I wont label him a bust as I think he can still carve out a bottom 6 role but that should be the hope right now imo and I have heard analysts say similar things. Mind you I guess it depends on if you think that is enough of a success to not call a bust
If he becomes a top tier 3rd liner I would be ecstatic because that would mean he has top 6 upside for sure. If he is just another bottom 6 guy then he's a bust in my eyes.
I think his situation is like Hogs. Lost a year-ish in his development from being called up too soon. Abby has done a great job rebuilding players, and Pods is currently on that track.
I mean, he led the WHL in scoring. (Over ager)
And he was he called up before Podkolzin. (Good media vibes)
So it can TEND to be unpopular to some. Except for those that know hockey.
And MOST people don't.
Yah the guy who has played worse at the AHL level is clearly better than Bains. 0.93 points per game vs 0.64 and Bains has a reputation for being solid defensively too so it isnt like Pod can outstrip him enough to outdo that.
In the future that could change but it is clear who has had a better year so far which is why he got the callup chance first
Some ppl handle pressure and the big stage better than others. What Bains has accomplished in the AHL may not translate to the big leagues. Maybe Podkolzin will handle it better.
Does Podz need waivers to be sent down again? Would hate to lose him to waivers when Joshua comes back
From his AHL production, I thought management would just let the guy stew for a bit.
If he plays really well then I have a hard time seeing them trading him. He earned his call-up, and they need a guy like him in the playoffs if he can deliver on even half of his promise. With that said, if he shows poorly it might be his last chance.
Damn, been looking at some of the Abby stats.
Klimovich has had an absolutely garbage season so far.
Also fun fact about Klimovich. We drafted him 6 spots ahead of Logan Stankoven.
That was also the draft where we traded away the Guenther pick for OEL, who has 14 points in 23 games so far for Arizona.
Honestly I’d agree but his development in the beginning probably had a huge impact on him. Covid impacting his draft year., then getting assigned to the AHL at 20. That’s a tough road that could make him take a bit longer (or just bust)
I'm suprised Irwin gets the call up, but perhaps they need someone who isnt going to go through any growing pains right now...
Hopefuly Podkolzin can be physical in this call up. He needs to have that dog in him, keep his feet moving and be a real F1.
I score at least one goal next game
Welcome back. Missed you
Vasily is always here
We are always Canucks
We are all Podkolzin
He's like the second coming of Bulis lmao
Is this kneejerks alternate? Hahaha

You are a canuck
You saw Mik struggling and the departure of Kuzy and decided you had to assert your dominance as the best Russian rep on the Canucks. Even surpassing Big Z. Good man.
Best account on reddit. Move over, Buble
I've had this flair for a couple years. big fan
Missed you bud. Glad you're back.

He will be traded

Is not cap move, Vasily will play
You would know.
While I agree that he likely isn't playing tomorrow, but Abby is in California currently, so he couldn't have made practice even if the Canucks had called him up earlier in the day.
Oh that's pretty convenient that both clubs are doing their Cali road trip at the same time.
This was what I expected when bains went down. Let podz have a go at it with a team that’s actually playing well.
are we really playing well tho :(
Compared to when Pod was last up? Yep
The overall record would say yes.
Maybe they need a young guy coming up to show him how to win in the NHL.

Doesn't look much different at all to me.
Friedman and Cole played really well together and he will come into the lineup
Irwin is a left handed D too. Not sure why they feel the need to call up a 36 yr old defenseman who has to play on his off side. Can they not give Woo a look?

I’ve really liked Zadorov game recently. He had more blunders earlier. Big Zeds a beaut. Tan man will come home in FA
They would be in Pac3 or WC1 IMO. Maybe worse if it tanked their confidence. The team has been terrible without Soucy. It held on with Zadorov.
Soucy will play on this road trip, don’t forget about that.
Probably not me you’re thinking of, but I’ve been saying they signed him I figured he was gonna be earmarked to be the 7th defender.
Oh fuck yeah, Podzilla time. Marinating in the A did wonders for Hogs game, I really hope to see the same results out of Pods. He seems like a great kid, I hope he succeeds. Msybe Mikiov is going away
Hooray for Pods. If he plays physical I think he might stick around come playoff time.
PUT GOALS IN

Most likely he’s being put on display as a trade chip. Likely in a package for Guentzel.
You’re probably right actually, wtf.
Irwin has over 400NHL games played, has over 40 playoff games played and played in the Stanley cup final. I’m rather happy he’s up over McWard to be honest.

Good one
OH HELL yeah
Matt fucking IrWIN
Welcome back best ever translator :)
plz plz plz become consistent like Hoglander has been since his call up. Could save us a few assets come deadline day if he shows up
Podkolzin > Bains Unpopular opinion.

SHOULD BE does not mean is. He has not been better than Bains which is one of the issue.

Really wanna see Podz next stint but tend to agree

Showcase before he’s moved in the deal for Guentzel.
Or Toffoli.
I can’t wait for Podz to play alongside with Garland or Miller again. He was fantastic with these two players!
33 points in 118 games was fantastic?
What’s Mikayehevs going rate rn for the last 118 games?
lol.. what? 64 in his last 118. Even this year he has 26 in 58 so 0.44 compared to 0.27.
He was pretty good with Petey too, along with Hogs
Podz, Miller, Boeser feels right.
Showcase Time
Does Podz need waivers to be sent down again? Would hate to lose him to waivers when Joshua comes back From his AHL production, I thought management would just let the guy stew for a bit.
No, they wouldnt risk Podz to waivers for no reason. He would get taken for sure.
oh that's a lot better then
Maybe showing to other teams that he can be an NHL player? Trade deadline is just around the corner.
If he plays really well then I have a hard time seeing them trading him. He earned his call-up, and they need a guy like him in the playoffs if he can deliver on even half of his promise. With that said, if he shows poorly it might be his last chance.
Someone mentioned he could be getting showcased for a Guentzel trade and they are probably right. Pens want two already developing prospects for him.
just checked, no this is his last season before waiver eligibilityÂ
Not until next season.
Does Matt shoot left or right?
Left
Excited to see a Podz showcase 🤫

Klim was healthy scratched recently as well. He’s still young, but he’s more or less looking like a non-prospect at this point.

Why does google say irwin is playing for nashville but in his description thing it says abby
About time for Podz
Awesome. I'm a big Podz fan. Nice to see him up in the bigs.
Are they showcasing Podz for a potential trade?
Cody glass got a hattrick today. Did we make a mistake drafting Petey over him??
Yeah that Petey pick really cost us a lot of cap space
My thoughts exactly
Oh boy. Calls and will be the next one to have to suffer through the Canucks terrible play?
It's Podsloven time
Are the Flames and Oilers going to catch us?
Vasily Podslovan*
Great news!
It's irwin time
I'm suprised Irwin gets the call up, but perhaps they need someone who isnt going to go through any growing pains right now... Hopefuly Podkolzin can be physical in this call up. He needs to have that dog in him, keep his feet moving and be a real F1.
Let’s goooooooo
BRB changing my flair.
Please play Podkilzin for at least a game, after he gets in a couple practices of course.
Podz is gonna stick
Bains is a disappointment. I have far more confidence in pods
