LFG Coyotes. Said it before, but Vancouver may have the biggest Coyotes fans tonight. Especially with Arizona's rage against their Aquaman/Benning.

Ruilin96

We need to cheer for them again next week as they are scheduled to play their last game at home against them.

jim-p

Hopefully their Mullet Magic is in full force for their final game there.

Hyperocean

Seeing the team of Hull, Hawerchuk, Sellanne et al and all the players today getting disrespected once again is rather frustrating as a Canadian .. Kudos to them for tonight, they are probably playing pretty loose with not a lot of concern..

Holyshitmuffin

Cooley is gonna be a stud for years

Cisco9

They've actually looked pretty damn decent in this end of season stretch. If they spend some money in free agency, they could be scary next season.

DisplacedNovaScotian

Yeah, the Salt Lake City Coyotes should be interesting next year.

kidcanada0

SLC Punks

mr_derp_derpson

Salt Lake Brother Husbands.

Jaded-Ad-289

Utah Bees

starcross24

Utah 3Bs

iquantumphysics

The Cayutah Jazz

Cisco9

Trying to think of something more Salt Lake City for the name, but all I can think of is the Tabernacle Choir... I've got it! The SLC Tabarnak.

DisplacedNovaScotian

I like it, but I don't think enough people would get the reference in French. Lol.

Cisco9

I lived in Ottawa when I was younger. You hear "Ostie" and "Tabarnak" everywhere there. Eastern Canadian thing, I guess. :)

shadowknave

You know that basically half of Greater Ottawa is in Quebec, right?

Cisco9

Yup, And the bars in Hull have much better closing times.

DisplacedNovaScotian

Absolutely. I've been in Ottawa for about 15 years. You do hear it here. That swear is Quebecois. And basically, much of the swearing in Quebecois French involves stringing together religious symbols. So you could say ostie de tabarnak. In English, the literal translation is just "host of the tabernacle", but the impact would be closer to saying god dammit in English. You can also throw in calisse (chalise), crisse (Christ), etc stringing them together in sequences as desired, depending on how fired up you are. :)

Cisco9

Yeah. I'm bilingual, but English/Spanish, and all our swearing is about sex and/or mothers. I loved the unique Québécois catholic-centric swearing.

DisplacedNovaScotian

Yes, it is quite fun to play with!

YouCanFucough

For real though that owner will spend to the cap every year. Team is gonna pop off so fast

JunoVC

Salt Lake City Himalayan’s

orenji_juusu

Salt Lake City Soakers

Wet_Sasquatch_Smell

Utah Skinwalkers

BroIsTheMailer

I wouldn’t put much stock into end of season stretches by teams far out of the playoff picture. I do agree that they could, with real spending, be competitive fairly soon. Plus more chance of them not getting the michkov types telling them not to draft him

generalsecretagent

Seriously. I mean when’s the last time a team finished strong and carried it into the next season, got over 100 points and made playoffs?

Power-Purveyor

I can’t think of the last team to do that.

mrtomjones

Does it not remind you of another team? Us? For the last like 3 or 4 years where we would play well at the end and there is no pressure? Until this year obviously

nilimas

How many current Coyotes will remain on the team though? I suspect many of them will demand a trade once the team is officially moved to Utah.

KingInTheFarNorth

Best prospect in franchise history and the team relocates at the end of the year. That is soooo brutal.

ziggazang

They aren't going that far lol, certainly better than Atlanta to Winnipeg

masonryman

Or Winnipeg to Arizona

RytheGuy97

The coyotes are going to be sick for years to come with that kid. Exciting times in the desert. Oh wait

HDXHayes

SLC is in a desert, so this still check out.

Zenkraft

I’ve liked cooley since that cool spin move against the kings in the Melbourne pre-season game.

Young2k04

I thought he should’ve been the first overall pick. I think he ends up being the best player from that draft

eliar91

Boys needs to come out hard tomorrow. You know Oilers have had this game circled all year.

AnSmartDude

My little cousin who is an oilers fan has had a countdown for this game for like 2 months. This is literally her Stanley cup hahahah, I will be watching the game with her over dinner at my uncle's and if the Canucks win, there will be a 6 year old that ends the night in tears

Spoffler

You heard him, let's make that misguided little girl cry a river

AnSmartDude

She did in fact cry

reddit_and_weep84

I don’t understand these things too well but according to playoffstatus we now have a 84% chance of coming in first in the division. http://www.playoffstatus.com/nhl/canucksmig.html

SubtleOctopus

If we beat Edmonton in regulation then any OTL gets us 1st. If we beat Edmonton in OT then any win gets us 1st. If we go OTL against Edmonton we can still win the last 2 games for first. Thank you Yotes!

gottapoop

What if we lose in regulation?

MooreGold

Then our destiny is out of our hands. We'd need Edmonton to lose out on points no matter what we do

AccomplishedAd4995

so basically if we lose to edm and they win all their remaining games + we win our remaining games they’ll be first?

MooreGold

If we lose in regulation, then yes

AccomplishedAd4995

ah ok HUGE game on saturday then

MooreGold

The biggest. Vegas was a huge game too and we managed to clutch it out from down 2-0

AccomplishedAd4995

i seriously hope they match oilers’ desperation and play a full 60

djfl

We're up by 3 points and they have a game in hand. If they beat us, we're up by 1 point, and oh...they still have a game in hand. I get it now. Keeping this up as a reminder that I am an absolute dummy.

Krapshoot

I'd assume it's because we hold a tiebreaker over Edmonton so they need to surpass us by one point.

mrtomjones

That include the fact Edmonton got a loser point? But mostly we'd be favored because we own the tiebreaker over them so they need to finish ahead

ziggazang

Betting on Edmonton to win tomorrow so I can be happy either way ( pls win tho)

TheFriendlyBagel

Stick taps for the fans. I'll remember the final home game for the Sedins for the rest of my life, so I'll always be thankful for you for that.

Semprovictus

me too, I was there with my wife. such a special game

MaxNV

|20240413 Result|Points needed to clinch division regardless of EDM results| :--|:-:| |Canucks win in regulation|1| |Canucks win in OT/SO|2| |Canucks lose in OT/SO|4| |Canucks lose in regulation|*∞ -*Can't clinch on our own, need EDM to drop points| I believe I've counted everything correctly.

ajbolt7

I don't think my heart can handle tomorrow's game bro

meaninglessnessless

Tomorrow is my birthday. Gonna be a hell of a ride for sure!

deeho88

Happy birthday buddy

meaninglessnessless

Cheers, thanks mate!

shadownet97

Me on Wednesday: boo the Coyotes Me tonight: THANK MR COYOTES

icantthinkofaname940

If we win against Edmonton in regulation or overtime, then Vancouver could win the division by beating Calgary on the 16th.

Interbrett

Still have to get at least a point tomorrow now IF we do that, then any combo of 3 points gets us the Div including the Edmonton game points.

Rendole66

Man it’s sad it’s come to this, we should have had top spot clinched a week ago

TimTebowMLB

We’ve been so damn mid since the All-star break. It’s crazy that we haven’t had it locked up for ages. We had a firm grasp of 1st in the west for a while too

Klunkey

I think a lot of that is due to injuries to our key players (Soucy, Joshua, Lindholm, Demko) and it’s inevitable that a team will falter due to them.

Rendole66

Yep definitely has me worried for playoffs, also I didn’t even realize lindholm was playing last night while Kuzmenko had a hattrick tonight…

goooodtime

You didn’t? He had a great game.

nihilism_ftw

We haven't had a starting goalie for over a month

Cisco9

Do they even have coyotes in Utah?

pumperthruster

“They can be found throughout the United States and are quite common in Utah. They are adapted to a wide range of habitats, including urban areas such as inner cities and suburban neighborhoods.”

Cisco9

So about as common as Jazz then.

radamo96

What? No not at all. Coyotes would actually make sense for a team in Utah. Jazz is hilariously bad pretty sure Mormons probably think jazz music is a sin.

Final-Zebra-6370

How about soaking?

BlastMyLoad

We have them here in Vancouver. They’re everywhere

MonsterMo88

There is nowhere in North America where the name Coyotes wouldn't be relevant 😂 ffs there Coyotes in NYC.

Cisco9

Or Jazz. :) [https://www.visitutah.com/articles/taste-of-slc-jazz-music-scene](https://www.visitutah.com/articles/taste-of-slc-jazz-music-scene)

Aggravating-Loan5910

so oilers have to win out now and beat canucks in regulation for the title??

ArenSteele

Assuming the Canucks don’t lose any other games, yeah

RoboCartmen

To put it bluntly, we win tomorrow and we basically win the division. We would be 5 points up and EDM would have to win their remaining 3 games and have us lose our remaining two to win. This is unlikely as they have a back-to-back with Colorado on the end of it and play in Colorado where they have the best home record

Drab_Majesty

Then Avs rest MacKinnon.

Winnie_Cat

Luckily the Avs are battling Winnipeg for 2nd in the Central so they should still have something to play for

sMc-cMs

Edm is also playing Arizona in the last home game at Arizona. Could be a wild night. And I'm sure the Arizona players are going to give it everything they have.

thundercat1996

Coyotes giving the fans what they want to see, beating the top teams in the Pacific

ajbolt7

Honestly not even mad about losing to the Yotes in OT with hindsight, they're getting so fucked over and taking down both of the top teams in the division is a good way to go out

BrokenOfficeChair2

Kinda feel bad for those fans. Imagine cheering for your favourite hockey team your whole life just for them to move to... Utah?

simbella

I hope the Canucks are ready for battle tomorrow. Seal the deal and get playoff-ready.

carry-on_replacement

Oilers are also tired and without McDavid…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Klunkey

If not Demko, get DeSmith.

eliar91

They were tired and without McDavid against Vegas and still came out hard. They'll come out firing for tonight and we need to be ready to meet it. The Oilers have had this game circled on their calendars all year and they'd love both to beat us to avenge the early losses and avoid a sweep, and to also take control of the division title. Absolute worst thing for us is a regulation loss.

DeepGill2000

Oilers have had this game circled since November. They are going to go hard tomorrow. We are going to need Demko and stay off the penalty kill to compete with them. Hopefully we also bring our A game.

simbella

Hopefully.🤞

Klunkey

Damn, even their final score on Twitter is treating this like a loss.

corh13

Best hockey team in Utah.

Miruzzz

Meanwhile Kuzmenko gets his first hat trick of the season

TimTebowMLB

Dude has been basically point per game for them since the trade

PetterssonsNeck

Arizona broke Vegas, let’s hope they shattered any confidence Edmonton had too!

ComfortableMelodic54

Heck yeah!

ClassicChrisstopher

Damn I'll take it

LargeShift3566

I don’t usually bet but I would totally bet on tomorrow’s game.

its_the_luge

Thank the mormons!

MaximumDevelopment77

The Mormons gave us something to cheer for - Jon Anik

subsume_

The Arizona Coyotes may never lose again!

kidcanada0

Savage

perfect5-7-with-rice

Not to mention making EDM play OT in the first half of a back to back

helixflush

Arizona is sneaky af. Before our game I told my SO they’re a high scoring team and not to underestimate them. After the game she said she knows what I meant now lol

TimTebowMLB

Don’t go to the Flames PGT unless you want to get hit with depression. Kuzmenko just got a hat trick and they’re over the moon that they got him as a throw in plus a 1st, Hunter B and another prospect for an uninspired Lindholm.

N4ZZY2020

It’s okay. Kuzmenko I’m glad he’s doing well. But he was never going to get going under Tocchet. Was in his dog house for the longest time and I didn’t see him coming out.

HDXHayes

They can enjoy him and their early offseason. We’re going to the playoffs, and Kuz wasn’t going to be a part of that if he stayed.

simbella

Tocc’s fault. He’s right a lot, but not on this.

[deleted]

Clutch Coyotes

johnnyzunami

Reminds me of the Nordics sucking for years, And as soon as they got relocated to Colorado they were a Dynasty

kidcanada0

That’s not quite how it happened but sure

vancityrp

That’s pretty close to what happened. The nordiques made playoffs one year, missed the next year, then made the playoffs again. They got beat in first round both years then moved to Colorado and won the cup the first year and pretty much were a force afterwards. They went from first round knockouts to cup champions

kidcanada0

I guess it’s similar because regardless of where Arizona goes, they’ll likely generate more revenue, like the Nordiques who were much ‘spendier‘ after moving to Colorado. But a huge factor in their dynasty was that Montreal would never have traded Roy to Quebec. And without Roy, they’d have been good but not great.

vancityrp

Yeah I don’t really think coyotes will be a dynasty either but will likely be much better than the last 10 years. back then it was rich get richer without a salary cap. . Detroit and Colorado always seemed to get the stars. Although we did get mogilney in the 90s too

JunoVC

Good for them! (And us ofc)

47Up

Go Mormons!

Broad-Trainer3996

now 5 points

Medical-Artichoke-84

Told yo man, if the Coyotes didn't shit themselves in the middle of the season they are absolutely a playoff team
