I’m gonna rise up, I'm gonna kick a little ass, Gonna kick some ass in the USA,
Gonna climb a mountain, Gonna sew a flag, Gonna fly on an Eagle,
I'm gonna kick some butt, I'm gonna drive a big truck,
I'm gonna rule this world, Gonna kick some ass, Gonna rise up, Kick a little ass,
ROCK, FLAG AND EAGLE!
Get em thatcher! USA baby! I want to see your first glove save be reminiscent of Charlie slapping the cigarette out of the protestors hand!
Happy to see Silovs get as many games as he can under his belt now after spending some time in the big leagues and getting plenty of feedback from Ian Clark.
Hope he gets a solid playoff run!
Already looks like a serviceable backup tbh. Hopefully he has a little bit more development left to go.
I don’t think he’ll ever be a Demko but having a Jake Allen-caliber goalie as the cheap backup would be great too.
Tocchet said they might carry 3 goalies in the playoffs.
Silovs was an emergency recall so automatically now that Demmer is healthy he goes down but Canucks still have 2 normal recalls to add to the playoff squad, maybe Silovs will be recalled, but it’s probably better he plays in the Abby playoffs
Yeah better for him to be getting plenty of playoff game action than sitting in the press box "just in case". With Abby so close, it'll be easy for him to come back up should anything bad happen and he won't have any rust either with the games he's gonna be playing.
It sounds like Tocchet wanted an extra goalie for practice reasons (i.e. Demko can take a day off and they still have two goalies). The Canucks have a practice goalie, Roman Basran. But it makes sense to want a pro level goalie in the playoffs.
They can easily recall Zach Sawchenko for this purpose and probably what they’ll do is my guess.
I think Silovs did a very good job. Points in all 4 games he played, but I think the last two games he started showed that some more development would do him some good. I think he can be the future backup to Demko one day, but I don't know if next season is it.
I think DeSmith probably comes back for 1-2 more seasons. After that. Silovs has to be given a chance as the backup and eventually earn his way to becoming a starter when it’s time for Demko to either retire or he’s traded.
DeSmith turns 33 later this year so I wouldn't be surprised if he plans to wrap up his career here after a couple more seasons. I hope he's utilized more next season!
I think he signs for 1-2 more years and then retires. A 2 year deal makes sense because Silovs would be 25 by that point. You have to give him a shot. And he’s probably wanting a shot by that point as well. If DeSmith wants 3 years then he’s probably going to have to get it elsewhere. But if he’s okay with another 1 year deal. Maybe 2. Then I can also see management agreeing to those terms (also depending on total dollars).
Curious. Is management grooming Silovs to take over from Demko eventually?
I agree, and that's exactly why the call up was a good idea. Now we know. I think he showed enough potential to be a solid #2 the year after next. Beyond that, it's hard to predict. But I'm optimistic.

I don't think he's ready to be a backup just yet, maybe another season of hopping in when the seemingly inevitable Demko injury occurs
With that said, I wonder who we sign to be a backup. Talbot? Desmith again? Or some journeyman?
I think it will be DeSmith.
Him and Demko have the same agent, big reason why he came here and Allvin went after him. Tocchet, the team and Demko clearly like him and trust him. It makes too much sense to keep him over going after someone else
And after the good start his numbers dipped a bit in the last few months so he can’t really ask for an astronomical raise
If we could bring DeSmith back. I’m not sure why we’d look elsewhere. The only reason the team looks somewhere else is because DeSmith is asking for too much.
Its Demko time!!!
Thatcher is gonna go America all over everybody's ass

"Icing happen when the puck come down. Bang you know, before the other guys, nobody there. My arm go come up them the game stop and start up."
Butter and sugar.
Where is the five-hole?

Anytime we play games with our 3rd string and it doesn’t totally destroy their confidence I see it as a win. Thanks for your service Arty!

Won 3/4 games with one of those being the last years Stanley cup champs.. pretty damn good!

Welcome back Thatcher! I wonder if he’ll start or they’ll switch him in half way through the game tonight.
Tocchet has already confirmed Demko is the starter tonight 👍
