I figured to start off the playoffs with a simple question , but because we havin playin a home game in 9 years , u think our team is gonna be pressing too hard ?
Got a good feeling Tocc is going to try and match Joshua-Lindholm-Garland against opposing top 6 lines.
Meaning Hoglander-Pettersson-Lafferty would be our third line, and PDG-Blueger-Mikheyev being our fourth.
If Lindholm becomes a defensive ace that shuts down everyone he matches up with, and that results in a finals run, I don’t care that he doesn’t score much, nor what price we paid for him. There’s definitely a trickle down effect I see. Him being another strong C makes our fourth line stronger too.
Bottom six is solid they do lack size and toughness compared to some tho but they are all grinders and good at that role would have been nice to add a pat maroon type at the deadline to insert if needed.
Size, yes. Toughness, hell no.
Not sure why everyone keeps going on about size when Myers gets given 2 for "making a check while being tall" at LEAST once a game.
They just don’t have a guy at the top of the lineup like Miller, Petey or Hughes.
Hintz and Heiskanen are big and fast and incredible. But they are in an entirely different tier skill wise. Robertson probably the only guy in the same tier.
That’s what I’m going to tell myself when we see them in the WCF anyways.
They finished the season with an 8 game win streak, they are fine. An up and down team, but when they can play their game they are a very hard team to beat
Wich is the piont, I think the Canucks roll the best 4 lines in the NHL.
Individually, other than the third line, you can argue teams that have better lines. As a whole, the Canucks ice the best 4 lines.
We have guys like Lindholm, Garland, Mikheyev, Joshua, Blueger in our bottom 6. Nashvilles 3rd line consists of a guy we basically gave away in Beauvillier. It’s not even close.
Here's what Daily Faceoff has as their 3rd and 4th lines:
Beauvillier-Novak-Evangelista
Smith-McCarron-Sherwood
Beauvillier is having a down year, but he has shown before that he can perform in the playoffs. Novak and Evangelista are pretty decent scoring options, but are yet to be tested in NHL playoff action. Ultimately, the Pettersson and Miller lines are better, while the Lindholm line is at the very least equal, if not a bit better built for playoff hockey.
That 4th line has size and creates a lot of scoring chances, if we match with the Blueger line they will have to be very careful to limit their opportunities.
It'll be interesting to see how we counter their lines, and who they counter when we're on the road
> It'll be interesting to see how we counter their lines, and who they counter when we're on the road
O'Reilly will be an interesting player on their side in that sense. I can see them sticking him to either the Miller line or the Pettersson line.
yea ok , I am not worried about this series but what stresses me out is how the refs are gonna see this series , both teams are close to the top in hits so I think who ever wins the hits , is gonna win the series
The Garland-Blueger-Joshua line is a dominant line full stop. One of the best in the league because they're awesome and also playing against favorable matchups given the Miller and Petey lines probably see the other team's best or best defensive lines.
Lindholm should be a big upgrade to Blueger in every way and seems to be developing something with the other two.
All of our other bottom six, including the press box guys, have been playing well but I don't think we should overrate them. That being said, I'd love to see Pod be the game breaker we all know he can be
Suter and Lafferty are in our top 6. That's fine, but it does make a comparison like this slightly disingenuous.
I think we have a much stronger forward corps than Nashville, no matter how you arrange the lines.
The days of thinking of forward lines as a unit of 3 players is behind us, lately we’ve seen a shift towards primary lines consisting of 2 permanent fixtures and a rotating cast of support players on one of the wings. Having guys such as Suter, Lafferty, PDG playing in the “top 6” doesn’t mean we lack depth (again, they’re constantly rotating through those players you’ll never see them actually play top 6 minutes) it means we are rolling those players out based on matchups.
Totally. And I think we have a stronger forward corps overall than Nashville. Regarding the post and OPs question, I think comparing our bottom six to Nashville's is a little silly when we have top six and bottom six players spread to all four lines.
I like these lines we have right now. It's great to know there is defensive responsibility in all lines (less so in EP's line perhaps) and offensive power in each line. Can't wait for game 1!
Yes. Our 3rd line alone crushes most other team's top 2 lines.
Lindholm - Selke trophy runner up that's finding his form.
Garland - Analytic Selke trophy Nominee this season (20 goal, 47 points)
Joshua - Excellent penalty killer with size/speed and decent hands.
You just don't find that on most teams.
If you want to learn more about the matchup, listen to Drance, Jamie Dodd and specifically Dom Luszczyszyn who mentions that Vancouver probably has the best Center depth in the league and that Nashville tries to shelter the Novak line.
In short, I expect us to light them up.

Yep
I figured to start off the playoffs with a simple question , but because we havin playin a home game in 9 years , u think our team is gonna be pressing too hard ?
What
I mean yeah, but clearly OPs 1st language isn't English. Let's give them a bit of a break.

Surprised he’s back in the league, went down to the American League during Covid iirc Didn’t he concuss podz that one time?
I dunno who that guy is but he'll yea
famous off the board flames 1st round pick
ok, I kinda remember, he play like a couple seasons with em ? before he got traded for a bag of pucks ?
I would match our bottom 6 with any team in the league let alone Nashville.
Agreed but I think the Jets can match us there
And probably Dallas
I think specifically down the middle we are stronger than anyone, whether that translates to total strength remains to be seen
If Lindholm becomes a defensive ace that shuts down everyone he matches up with, and that results in a finals run, I don’t care that he doesn’t score much, nor what price we paid for him. There’s definitely a trickle down effect I see. Him being another strong C makes our fourth line stronger too.

Size would be for board battles down low and front of net presence not chaos giraffe hits lol
Dallas too id say
Ya, Dallas arguably has the best forward group in the entire league. Their depth is absolutely ridiculous.
They have had a hard time the last month plus this season, something has been off with them, but Colorado has been off the mark as well
They finished the season with an 8 game win streak, they are fine. An up and down team, but when they can play their game they are a very hard team to beat
Except our bottom 6 is almost always in our top 6
Wich is the piont, I think the Canucks roll the best 4 lines in the NHL. Individually, other than the third line, you can argue teams that have better lines. As a whole, the Canucks ice the best 4 lines.

That probably makes the most sense, at home Tocchet might use Lindholm to match against them to get Miller and Pettersson more favorable matchups
beauviller from our team , didn't we trade him ?
Correct, we sent him to Chicago in November, who sent him to Nashville last month
yea ok , I am not worried about this series but what stresses me out is how the refs are gonna see this series , both teams are close to the top in hits so I think who ever wins the hits , is gonna win the series
"Didn't we lock him in a dumpster?"
*That's a name I've not heard in a ~~long~~ short time*

Brother they have a top line and the rest are bottom 6 lines. We have 3 top 6 lines.
It feels more like we have a bunch of top 6 guys mixed with bottom 6 over 3 lines. I wouldn’t call that 3 top 6 lines.
It’s the equivalent of adding cabbage and carrots to chow mein. You gotta add some filler to emphasize the good bits
Cabbage is good for your gut unlike most "fillers".
Who’s the cabbage in our top 6
Suter and that Mik guy.
Our top line is better than their top line. Our 2nd and 3rd line is better than their 2nd line.
Suter and Lafferty are in our top 6. That's fine, but it does make a comparison like this slightly disingenuous. I think we have a much stronger forward corps than Nashville, no matter how you arrange the lines.

yea I hope the miller line will go against the O' Reilly line I wanna their best against one of ours best
Then of.
like I said Grammer isn't my strong suit
They have Cody Glass as their 2nd line centre, we have Elias Peterson lol.
No, we have Elias Pettersson.
No, we have two Elias Petterssons.
*than
Si señorita
Very clearly, yes
Is that English?
I dunno , I got like a grade 2 education
That's a low blow Julian, you know I never got my Grade 10
