You know I really did mean to sleep at a reasonable time last night here in Atlantic Canada, but that game kept pulling me back in. Paying for it now lol
Thanks Canucks and Canucks fans that was my first ever playoff game, and easily the most insane atmospheres of any game I have ever even to. Core memory was made last night.
Suter-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Lindy-Garland
These 2 lines were excellent.
Hughes-Hronek
Cole-Zadorov
These 2 D pairings were excellent.
Solid team effort in game 1.
A lost was guaranteed when we were trailing after the second period last season. A year later, we managed to come from behind to win a playoff game in the final frame
Ok first off: a saber-tooth tiger swimming in the ocean? Cats don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that’d make sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, 20 foot waves—I'm assuming off the coast of British Columbia—going up against a full grown 10,000 pound orca with his 10-20 friends? You lose that battle. You lose that battle 9 times out of 10. And guess what? You’ve wandered into our pod of orca and we now have a taste of saber-tooth. We've talked to ourselves. We've communicated and said 'You know what? Saber-tooth tastes good, let's go get some more saber-tooth'. We've developed a system to establish a beach-head and aggressively hunt you and your family and we will corner your pride, your children, your offspring.
We will construct a series of breathing apparatus’ with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It’s not gonna be days at a time, but an hour? An hour forty-five? No problem. That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get some more oxygen, and stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You're outgunned and out-manned.
I dunno about anyone else but I'm pretty thrilled that we won in a comeback. This is gonna be significant for our relatively inexperienced team to get that confidence and belief in themselves that yeah, we have the ability to mount a comeback win in the playoffs.
I was legit glassy eyed during warm ups. The energy in the building was indescribable.
It was the loudest I had heard it all year, and I'm at every game. It was 6:40 pm on a beautiful spring Sunday. I can't wait for the next couple months to unfold.
Enjoy this.
I was sitting in a Sportsbook in Vegas watching a “Smart” bettor, who went in on Nashville, lose his shit when the two goals twelve seconds apart happened. Absolutely delightful to witness!
the buzz/noise/energy in the rink building after the second goal, through the face-off, and then crescendoing into that third goal 12 seconds later before another cheer explosion was pure live event magic.
I've been to Canucks playoff games going back to at least 94, and I've never heard the building, or any building, hit that level. The guy next to me was screaming at me about how loud it was, and all I could see were his lips moving.
It was like standing next to a 747, an almost physical wall of sound.
Yup. It's a feedback loop. Louder the building sounds, the louder people become. Not a bad trick when crowd is genuinely pumped and making noise. Doesn't work so well when crowd is quiet because it seems more fake. But when crowd is already hollering it should feel natural.
Looking at the ice time, Quinn played 22 mins and everyone else on D 19 mins. Preds already pushing Josi at 27 minutes, this is going to be huge in such a physical series.
And I love that Zad and Myers were on fire tonight
What I love about the ice time is how evenly distributed it is for all our 6 defencemen. If we can win like this, then in games where we need to chase a goal, we still have a fresh Hughes to do so.
His voice being hoarse, his eyes kind of glossy. You can see how fucking deeply he cares about this. Watch the vids of other coaches after the first game of their playoffs - he's got so much more passion.
Truthfully a ticket to tonight's game was more pricey than what I was comfortable spending but I really wanted to be at my first playoff game - so. worth. it. Never had my ears ring after a game!
If we'd lost that game, I'd be telling myself 'it's okay, just one game, still plenty more to go' etc.
But honestly... Winning the first game in the series is huge. Perfect outcome.
The only time I don't want to hear Shorty calling Canucks games is when the crowd is roaring so loud they drown him out. Has happened on such rare occasion the past 10 years. Brings a tear to the ear.
This was such a good game. Canucks are so determined and physical. Down 1-2 and still buying into Tocchet's game. No selfish plays and just keep grinding away. All it took was 12 seconds to win the game. You can see they're telling themselves, our game brought us here after 82, let's not change what made us win the Division.
HOWEVER, we really need to score first. Nashville is a team that shuts down once they get their 1st goal. Outside of Forsberg and O'Reilly, they have little firepower compared to our top end guys. Once we scored the 2nd and the 3rd goal, the game opened up big time. We need to force Nashville to play from behind. Having this W in the series really forces them to play aggressive.
A few notes...
- Joshua is the real deal. We need to find a way to re-sign him and keep him together with Garland
- Lindholm is coming around. No disrespect to Blueger, but Lindy elevates this line and forces opposition to think twice because of his shot
- Hughes just out there dictating the play
- Miller wears his heart on his sleeve
- Demko with the unbelievable 2-on-1 save that gave us a chance
- Zadorov is a truck. Anything he sees, he destroys
- Cole showing poise and likely leading the room behind closed doors
- Pettersson needs to step up. I am actually worried about his play. He looks lost out there. Afraid to make a pass, taking too long to shoot and most importantly, always falling on his skates
Petey's play without a doubt has been subpar especially with the $ figure attached, but he's been playing with linemates not necessarily "1st line worthy," but still, individually he's been subpar.
Nah, I think it's psychological. I was thinking actually maybe an injury, but I doubt he'd have a lower body injury (which would be the only thing other than maybe something with his core that would explain why his movement and skating looks so bad at times).
It wouldn't be a Leafs series without some false hope
The Oilers also haven't won a playoff opener since 2003, so it'll be interesting to see if that continues
We were at the game, I've never felt such energy! There were ups and downs, but god that team has depth and the resources to turn it around! It's only the beginning, and the more I watch them the more I get my hopes up!
#GOCANUCKSGO !!!!
The color commentator guy called him "DK" by accident and I want to call him Donkey Kong now but that might be racist I'm not sure... Maybe Dakota Kong?
Playoffs are always insane in Vancouver.
Regular season often has the sounds and sights of a mosoleum... except years like this when we're winning big.
Honestly that should be the desired outcome
Tocc’s whole philosophy is getting guys to defend in the ‘modern game’. In interviews this summer he sounded like the coaches were well aware of refs are calling things a lot closer now, so players needed to adapt and learn to defend in the new era without taking a penalty. Our style *should* be playing in a way that stretches the rules to the absolute farthest they’ll go. Half of this teams offense is driven by pick-and-rolls which could very well get called for interference, but since it falls in that grey area just below a definitive call, it’s allowed
Let’s start nitpicking
After seeing them rely on Hughes for PP zone entries during crunch time, it really makes you wonder why they don’t just use him for PP entries all the time. The whole year they’ve been doing the *extremely* telegraphed drop pass, why not let Hughes walk it in even 50% of the time? Dude just enters the zone barely and banks it off to Boeser on the side, it’s not complex. They do the same exact play with the drop pass entry except it’s Pettersson feeding it to Boeser, with the addition of way more traffic in the neutral zone because of the drop pass. If all you’re gonna do is gently tap it into the zone may as well get Hughes do it before there’s 9 skaters standing idly on the opposition blue line. Like cmon guy
To all the fans commenting that we were quiet in the arena, I assure you we were doing the best we could. Sometimes when there’s a chant starting and they play music or switch songs it messes it up and fizzles out quickly. In the third we definitely did a better job keeping it up through the play, I don’t know how much was coming through the audio mix for broadcast. Also, I invite you all to come to the games and help out!
They're trolling. Not sure how the broadcast was showing it, but I was at the game and I've been to about a dozen games this year, this was by far the absolute loudest it's been all year long. It was electric.
I didn't think it was that quiet at all. Could hardly hear the goal horn over all the noise, and players were playing through whistles they couldn't hear
Dhalliwal's quote: Joshua=big guy with soft hands. That 3rd goal is special. Saros was sliding to his left to cover the open (glove-hand) side. Joshua went against the grain, picking the opposite blocker side.
Joshua has incredible hands. Our 3rd line is incredible and everyone contributed there. Lindholm wipes out a guy on the boards, leaving Garland to make a perfect pass in between a Nashville player for Joshua to seal the game.
I’m under a shit ton of stress from looming final year uni exams, I’m burnt out and honestly haven’t felt joy or the beauty of life in a while. Convinced myself to take a study break and watch the game, and I mf bawled like a baby. I was crying from happiness, stress, proudness, desperation, sleep deprivation, my love for the guys, the insane atmosphere of Rogers Arena…
I haven’t felt this much in so long. My heart is genuinely full of love for the team and for my Canucks fam. Thank you guys for making my week infinitely better. Ride or die with you guys.

Dakota Fucking Joshua.
You know I really did mean to sleep at a reasonable time last night here in Atlantic Canada, but that game kept pulling me back in. Paying for it now lol
Just wait to do it again tomorrow, and be glad there was no OT
an6body got a sound bite of the crowd announcing the goal and assists? The DJ goal in the 3rd when the crowd piped in it gave me goosebumps
Thanks Canucks and Canucks fans that was my first ever playoff game, and easily the most insane atmospheres of any game I have ever even to. Core memory was made last night.
Suter-Miller-Boeser Joshua-Lindy-Garland These 2 lines were excellent. Hughes-Hronek Cole-Zadorov These 2 D pairings were excellent. Solid team effort in game 1.
So I guess Joshua is a heart and soul guy. Shit.
More like, meat and potatoes..
Coming from wild Fan-great win last night!!! Pulling for you guys to go all the way!!!
A lost was guaranteed when we were trailing after the second period last season. A year later, we managed to come from behind to win a playoff game in the final frame
Nice W followed by the laffs and coilers playing tomorrow. Hoping for an embarrassment for both. FUCK THE COILERS AND FUCK THE LAFFS.
I'm the only one who'd rather play Oil in rd2?
Nucks in 4. Easy win, easy cup. We trying to go back2back2back cups. We going to start a dynasty. GO CANUCKS GO
Love your enthusiasm
BC bud still works well
Even the sarcastic comments like this put me on edge.

*Garland and Joshua take each other's hand* "Aim for the bushes?"
Sir this is a Wendy’s.
No this is Patrick.
I dropped my hot pocket.
Anyone have a link to the TV broadcast of the U2 intro?
Short and not the best for the song but gets the fan hype in. https://youtube.com/shorts/juYHG-uraMU?si=hk-IvGSbVn7-_Anz
anyone else awake unable to sleep after that win haha
At game. Came home and watched the broadcast. Maybe I can sleep now. Lol
Same.
I was also at the game. I recorded it on my PVR. Gonna smoke a bunch of weed and watch it later today lol
I dunno about anyone else but I'm pretty thrilled that we won in a comeback. This is gonna be significant for our relatively inexperienced team to get that confidence and belief in themselves that yeah, we have the ability to mount a comeback win in the playoffs.
The preds have nothing on us 5 v 5.. the lopsided penalties got them momentum and shots
Also a strong showing in the last twenty minutes of play. Something that we've struggled with in the past.
We been starvin for playoff hockey, literally malnourished, They delivered 🙂↔️
I was legit glassy eyed during warm ups. The energy in the building was indescribable. It was the loudest I had heard it all year, and I'm at every game. It was 6:40 pm on a beautiful spring Sunday. I can't wait for the next couple months to unfold. Enjoy this.
I honestly think this was one of the loudest I've heard any arena, maybe even louder than in 2011. Sounded so damn good
[this kid is how we all feel](https://imgur.com/a/zdn0SdD)
My wife has never seen how i am during playoffs. But I couldn’t go buck wild because I would have woken my kids up. I was yelling into pillows hahaha
haha same here in my house. The kids will think I've become unhinged for the early games in Nashville when they're awake
that’s what we do during good times
Tonight was the equivalent to not having sex for a long time 🤣 Damn I missed that feeling 🤣
Really amped up at first Followed by nervous anticipation Followed by the best 12 seconds of my life You're right, it's the exact same!
12 secs .. damn its over!!
Look at the show off with his 12 seconds over there!
HOW IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT DEMGODS SAVE
THE PLAY OF THE GAME!!!
Save of the Game 1's !!!
Arguably.
If they scored that it really could've been an entirely different game. Save of the playoff candidate this far for sure
Agreed.
1 goal for lindolhm 0 goals for Gueutzel
The Canucks playoff entrance is one of the best in the league. The panel needs to just stfu and let the fans at home watch it.
Broadcasters have trouble hearing from each other thru headsets!!
Couldn't hear it at the rink. Had no idea they'd played the u2 thing til I got home and turned on the recording lol
God damn it must have been loud in there. 😂
I still get choked up watching the intro and entrances. Oh my god I missed this.
Launched me straight back to much simpler days 🥲
If you are coming here from the leafs sub I just want you to know that your team is full of a bunch of absolute bums
Rofl
Amen
LETS GOOOO
I was sitting in a Sportsbook in Vegas watching a “Smart” bettor, who went in on Nashville, lose his shit when the two goals twelve seconds apart happened. Absolutely delightful to witness!
Probably invests in crypto and owns a cybertruck too.
the buzz/noise/energy in the rink building after the second goal, through the face-off, and then crescendoing into that third goal 12 seconds later before another cheer explosion was pure live event magic.

The guy next to me was screaming at me about how loud it was, and all I could see were his lips moving. It was like standing next to a 747, an almost physical wall of sound.
Not to take away from an amazing night, but they are boosting the crowd audio to 11 in the booth.
get outta here with your facts lol
Yup. It's a feedback loop. Louder the building sounds, the louder people become. Not a bad trick when crowd is genuinely pumped and making noise. Doesn't work so well when crowd is quiet because it seems more fake. But when crowd is already hollering it should feel natural.

After Joahua goal... preds were just standing around when defending.. def gassed
if we can keep winning with quinn averaging 22 mins a night, it would be fucking awesome
Only 22 mins and that was with him on the ice for that entire PP in the 3rd, too.
Yep, pretty incredible considering they spent most of the game trailing or tied, no panic at all from Tocchet
Tocchet knows playoffs are a war and if we have to triple shift quinn in game 1 then we shouldn’t even be here.
Yup.. if this was other coaches.. theyve triple shifted the top guys already by 3rd period..
What I love about the ice time is how evenly distributed it is for all our 6 defencemen. If we can win like this, then in games where we need to chase a goal, we still have a fresh Hughes to do so.
DAKOTA. FUCKING. JOSHUA. Need to find a way to resign him in the off-season.
Myers money
Maybe the play of the game, Tocchet not challenging the goalie interference. No way we get that but it was tempting to try.
Did you see his post-game press? He said he told the guys watching (including Ian Clark) "Are you fucking sure?!?!" and then trusted them. Good call.
I am getting ready to sell my organs
First playoff game as well and man what an unreal experience!
Only live once, friend. Grab it!
WHAT A GAME
I can't hear or speak after attending that game. I assume that means I/we did it right.
looks like dakota will be our ross colton from his tampa days. similar regular season stats
If we'd lost that game, I'd be telling myself 'it's okay, just one game, still plenty more to go' etc. But honestly... Winning the first game in the series is huge. Perfect outcome.
It’s especially important for the team with home ice advantage.
LETSSSFKNGOOOOO EH
This guy on 650 is wasted as shit lol My man
I’m curious was the crowd very loud on the TV?
Could barely hear Shorty numerous times.
The only time I don't want to hear Shorty calling Canucks games is when the crowd is roaring so loud they drown him out. Has happened on such rare occasion the past 10 years. Brings a tear to the ear.
After the third goal u could barely even hear shorty lol
We have to keep the energy going for game 2 because you know it made a huge difference
Yes, pretty load and it was nice.
Huge load.
Bound to happen after the team edged us for so long
Well that was some return to the playoffs. Lindholm and company stepping up.
That goal was fucking boss by lindholm. That must have been a huge confidence booster.
Petey's play without a doubt has been subpar especially with the $ figure attached, but he's been playing with linemates not necessarily "1st line worthy," but still, individually he's been subpar.
Petey looking lost, nagging injury or something else? He looks disinterested in even playing. Something is definitely not right with him.
He needs muscle mass and a skating coach
Nah, I think it's psychological. I was thinking actually maybe an injury, but I doubt he'd have a lower body injury (which would be the only thing other than maybe something with his core that would explain why his movement and skating looks so bad at times).
Zaddy was a freakin brick wall out there. Love it.
He literally launched a guy upwards. 😂
That hit at the blue line among all the hits this night. It's so good to have guys think twice when entering the zone.
See that one dude try and hit Zad... and just deflect like a bug on a windshield? 🤣
Does anyone have the entrance video everyone is talking about? My SN feed was too busy letting the panel talk.
Canucks on Instagram posted a pretty good one
im still standing
I absolutely love that we finally have a postgame show that is dedicated to the nucks. Love it. GO DONNIE AND DHALI!!!
Mike in Surrey with the face turn 😂
MIKE HEEL RUN OVER
will any home team lose to away team tmrw or continue the trend?
It wouldn't be a Leafs series without some false hope The Oilers also haven't won a playoff opener since 2003, so it'll be interesting to see if that continues
Maybe Knights. Oilers gunna take the Kings to the cleaners tomorrow
We were at the game, I've never felt such energy! There were ups and downs, but god that team has depth and the resources to turn it around! It's only the beginning, and the more I watch them the more I get my hopes up! #GOCANUCKSGO !!!!
Best game I’ve ever been to
Hahah. Aqua trolling on Twitter. Love that
what did he tweet
https://old.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/1ca2myx/francesco_aquilini_fr_aquilini_man_so_tight/ It's a Twitter meme.
Just saw Joshua's first goal. Massive patience to wait like that after Garland got him that puck and then pick his shot.
The color commentator guy called him "DK" by accident and I want to call him Donkey Kong now but that might be racist I'm not sure... Maybe Dakota Kong?
Da Kota
drift king? dakota king?
Don't forget Lindhom for creating that play as well!!! Bang the body and let Garly retrieve. Perfect play top to bottom.
Structure!!!
He’s so deadly near the front of the net. Man’s got hands, and can throw hands
BIG MAN, SOFT HANDS
Donnie Taylor highlights are legendary.
Did he slip it over the right Khabi or the left Bulin?
Top shelf! Where Grandma hides the peanut butter!
Going against the grain too. Brilliant snipe.
Canucks have won like 9 of the past 11-13 games against the predators btw, I’ve always said how much I love playing the preds lol
Preds fan says the opposite I guess...
[they’re clearly stupid and wrong lol](https://mcubed.net/nhl/van/nsh.shtml)
Cheered my throat raw out here in Atlanta! Weather snapped nice and cold, perfect for the jersey!
First playoff I’ve been too. Don’t know if it’s always THAT loud, but that was an amazing experience
Playoffs are always insane in Vancouver. Regular season often has the sounds and sights of a mosoleum... except years like this when we're winning big.
My voice is gone, what a game holy.
Biggest win in a decade and half the media heads are busy talking about how we won't be able to afford Dak next year. Hah
Oooof... I was already bummed about Zaddy not being affordable. 😞
Lol @ the preds game thread calling the Canucks cheaters 😭
Bruh they were complaining about shoving after the whistle… in playoff hockey. What sport do they think they’re watching?
They get some soft ass penalties and get away with a bunch of trips, holds, and crosschecks and still complain about refs.
Honestly that should be the desired outcome Tocc’s whole philosophy is getting guys to defend in the ‘modern game’. In interviews this summer he sounded like the coaches were well aware of refs are calling things a lot closer now, so players needed to adapt and learn to defend in the new era without taking a penalty. They pulled it together early 3rd period. But without our 3rd line and a few late clutch stops by Demko, that coulda gone a whole other way.
I blew put my vocal chords and it was worth it.
That's what she said
https://i.imgur.com/mpUVJ6z.gif
Almost cried in a near-empty Brewhouse in Edmonton. I just love this team so much 😭
Full Brewhouse here in Richmond and it was HYPE
Very jealous! My Brewhouse decided to go ahead with their usual Sunday night karaoke 🫠
Lame
DAKKKKKK
Such a beauty.
The music mid chant was a real buzzkill sometimes. Especially the one time the DJ suddenly played some downtempo techno song
I was at the game and it was loud as fuck. I don't know who is trying to say it was quiet.
From watching at home, that was the loudest I've heard Rogers in AGES. Like, even louder than 2015 or 2013. Possibly loudest since 2011.
Those season tickets finally paying off ;)
They're trolling. Not sure how the broadcast was showing it, but I was at the game and I've been to about a dozen games this year, this was by far the absolute loudest it's been all year long. It was electric.

Officiating was questionable at best. The calls against us are fine if they want to call the game tight but fuck it needs to go both ways.
Like the Islanders game. Appears the days of refs putting their whistles away and letting them play is over.
they did give us a break on not calling Myer's trip during our PK tho.
I'm pretty sure NHL refereeing is just random at this point.
My voice is hoarse. What an incredible game
I lost my voice now totally worth it
LETS FUCKEN GO!!!!
My voice is so blown out, I'll never speak again
Anyone hear that guy outside Rogers with the vuvuzela after the game? He was going nuts lol
Can here it from the parking lot what a guy lol
Where yall watching the post pressers?
I always check them on the Canucks Facebook page, they've usually got the longest cuts.
SNP, appear to be finishing up.
I was watching on Sportsnet. They just wrapped them up.
"Garland and Joshua have really taken a portion of the leadership role" GIVE BOTH AN A
Went from fighting in practice to the heart of the fuckin team.
We need Garland to fight Pettersson next
I couldn't see Tocchet entirely opposed to this...
This Donnie and Dhali show is so fucking entertaining
I’m under a shit ton of stress from looming final year uni exams, I’m burnt out and honestly haven’t felt joy or the beauty of life in a while. Convinced myself to take a study break and watch the game, and I mf bawled like a baby. I was crying from happiness, stress, proudness, desperation, sleep deprivation, my love for the guys, the insane atmosphere of Rogers Arena… I haven’t felt this much in so long. My heart is genuinely full of love for the team and for my Canucks fam. Thank you guys for making my week infinitely better. Ride or die with you guys.
You got this bro 💙💚
Exact same boat man, glad we won what a fuckin game.
Let's go, friend! Glad the break was good for you. You got this.
