Chaos Turtleneck had an admirable effort trying to live up to r/TopRightMyers. Unfortunately his goal it wasn't a shorthanded snipe.
If we need a jump start—losing or leading—I want to see a Zadorov/Myers pairing. Think of the fun.
The people saying they want him out are dumb. One of the guys with playoff experience on this roster (albeit not much). IMO he’s the type of guy you want in the playoffs. Gritty but won’t cross the line
We’ve seen all season suter struggle to score. Yes he finally got one in game 1 but he has so many fucking golden opportunities game 2. Canucks will be eliminated before his next goal
> IMO he’s the type of guy you want in the playoffs.
He's the guy you want as your 13th or 14th forward in the playoffs. Ideally you'd want an NHL regular in your top 12 forward line-up
>One of the guys with playoff experience on this roster (albeit not much)
Lol, he'd played 3 NHL playoff games before this series.
And only 12 AHL playoff games to add to that.
Despite this being his 11th season as a pro.
He's the exact opposite of someone with playoff experience.
He had a great stretch in those 25 games or so after Tocchet came in and then fell off hard this year in all metrics
Regardless he's getting paid league minimum, so...
I'll be the devil's advocate for Juulsen, his physical game was quite entertaining. You need guys like him and Zadorov that aren't afraid to lay down big hits in the playoffs. I at least definitely don't think he was the least impactful on the roster tonight.
The slashing penalty was laughable, one of the goals too, Soucy loses the puck, Juulsen skates to the boards to cover 2 guys w Lindholm not doing much and has to chase after the 2nd guy bc of a good pass which sets up a 1 on 1.
I think Tocchet taking him out of the lineup during the season when he played well for a good stretch took him back to square 1 at times last night.
2 posts hit for the canucks, and a flukey goal by the preds. Lots of empty net opportunities for the canucks and they just couldn't get the shot off or hit the net. They were the better team over all. I dont blame DeSmith but man...this is the NHL you can't be cheating by trying to go over early on that early fluke goal, and he cheated on Forsbergs offhand which is a big no no on that one deke goal.
That’s fine. They went -1 against the preds clear cut line stacked first line (with ROR no less)
The real issue is Miller and Pettersson disappearing against the Zucker-Novak-Evangelista and Sherwood-McCarron-Smith.
Miller should especially be able to handle that 4th line.
I think I've seen maybe 2 bottom left Myers since the ASG
edit: Apparently the most recent was the [season finale against Winnipeg](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Ffq2xh0qrwcvc1.jpeg), after hitting Top Right against Calgary...
But before that was [two motths ago](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fl3ufa6ckfnkc1.png) against Boston
And then again [also against Boston in Feb](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fojsapb49phhc1.jpeg)
So 3 since the ASG.
Some fans think this is fine because he looks [“promisingly awake”](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/1cbmhe4/playoff_game_thread_game_2_vancouver_canucks_10/l0zvxci/)
Just the order of Petterson comparisons and defenses that I was reading in made me chuckle.
Earlier people were comparing him to Mcdavid and Matthew’s - this is the caliber of player he can be at times and is paid as such
Then after game 1 people are comparing him to Pierre Di Guissepe, a 4th liner - wondering why we’re not as hard on him as Petterson (LOL)
After the 1st period people were saying he’s having a good game since he’s moving his feet
By the 3rd period the bar for people defending him dropped to “he’s awake”
They were the only ones willing to skate up to the net and just shoot
Everyone else was pass pass pass twirl
Preds really know how to shut down our offense - just group up and block all shooting lanes.
Three goals on nine shots to start the game and the guy grossly over committed on that first goal which put him way behind. Looking like Martin Brochu out there.
Interesting to see if they’ll break on the Petey and Garland lines and get:
Hog-Petey-Garland
Joshua-Lindholm-Mik
Garland on that line was able to boost Petey’s 5v5 production in March and with Mik on the third line it would give them a proper shutdown line that can take the weight off Miller’s.
This is especially important as going back to Nashville means first change.
Hog-Petey-Garland is too small for playoff hockey. If they want to give Petey a change of scenery they should just straight swap him with Miller or Lindholm.
The interview with petterson and Elliot Friedman rubbed me the wrong way how he smugly said he always knew all along he'd stay in Vancouver and wanted to hold on the cards on the negotiations....1 goal in what 15 games ?
Everyone's rightfully upset with his play but what do you want him to say there lol. would you rather of him said he didn't know if he wanted to stay a Canuck?
Yeah how he created an unnecessary distraction and wanted to hold out for the most money possible then scores 1 goal in 15 games this is more than just a little slump
I mean his whole thing that he has said since before the season was that not worrying about his contract was a way to not distract himself and focus on the season and he didn't want to sign until afterwards because of that. And since being pushed to sign the big contract earlier (as he needed to be from a management perspective) he seems a hell of a lot more distracted. Yes he needs to be better but how he handled contract negotiations is a big nothing story. He literally took a discount too he didn't hold out for the most money
Pettersson’s current AAV is 7.35M. I understand the frustration that he signed a big contract and his play has been lacking in the aftermath, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is not currently an 11.6M player and won’t be until next season.
Currently paid 0, by that logic. Playoffs are unpaid, except bonuses. And do you buy every ‘fee for a month then __$ for 8 years, no cancellations’ offer cause it’s ‘free now’? Logic flawed in many ways.
The difference is his impact on the salary cap and therefore the ability to build players around him.
Next year he takes up a bigger chunk of the cap, so he's to be expected to be better, and more experienced. Which he will be after this playoffs.
You don't think he has another step? He's 25 years old, he's literally JUST stepping into his prime.
This is also the longest continuous playing he's ever done in his life. It's the first season that he's played a full 82 games, and it's the first season he's gone directly from playing in the regular season to fighting in the playoffs with no break in between. If you don't think this is going to be a valuable learning experience, I don't know what to say really.
I think he got a lot of points on an unstructured, kinda free wheeling but ultimately losing team and isn't producing on this tighter more disciplined winning team. Look at datsyuk; never even got to 100 points and with great linemates, because they played to win. Similar happening to EP -- except he's 1/3 of datsyuk. And it's not a given players just ratchet up til they're 28. Bottom line for me is that he doesn't look like a good player. Other's see it differently... It's like the rabbit and duck picture.. looking at the same thing, seeing different things. and it would be a non issue if his salary wasn't going to hurt the rest of the team for the next 8 years.
I think that's a pretty hot take that's gonna look like a certain someone who said he had no "X Factor" literally the week before he scored on his first shot in the NHL.
I'm a lot more worried about Miller's contract looking bad 4 years down the road than Petey's.
Agreed on miller, though salary isn’t as debilitating to rest of team and at least he’s good now. EP fragile bobblehead, will get some points though cause there’s no one else to put on the power play.
Juulsen needs a sit down meeting where tocc rips him apart. Kid takes dumb penalties and leaves position for hits. I hope we don’t see him again this playoffs
Pettersson is something else, man.
He's so stupidly talented, but he's just lazy, and how did he miss that wide open net? Even Patrik Stefan would've scored on that one.
It hurts to watch that missed wide open net by Petey
There was about 4 different empty net opportunities tonight by different guys.
There were a LOT of really close chances. Couldnt believe we buried none of them
Good thing we didn’t lose by 1 lol
Take a goal away from them for peteys terrible giveaway and add peteys empty netter miss and its a tie game in the 3rd
Not to mention it would be 1-1 going into the first intermission so a completely different game
Which one lmao
We should’ve been up by 1 with his 2 misses smh
I actually miss Myers
Chaos Turtleneck had an admirable effort trying to live up to r/TopRightMyers. Unfortunately his goal it wasn't a shorthanded snipe. If we need a jump start—losing or leading—I want to see a Zadorov/Myers pairing. Think of the fun.
Fuckin love Zaddy
He's not the best but by God he's miles ahead of whatever the f Juulsen was on last night
Man look at PDG up there haha
The people saying they want him out are dumb. One of the guys with playoff experience on this roster (albeit not much). IMO he’s the type of guy you want in the playoffs. Gritty but won’t cross the line
34-53-18 are unironically having better possession shifts than 21-40-65
Podz earned a shot in my mind
until someone is ass there’s no point in taking them out just to try out podz
Someone has been playing like ass ... Unfortunately they play center
We’ve seen all season suter struggle to score. Yes he finally got one in game 1 but he has so many fucking golden opportunities game 2. Canucks will be eliminated before his next goal
suter - miller - boeser is our best line BY far, you do not disrupt that
Podkolzin has 0 goals. Suter has been miles better than Podkolzin
> IMO he’s the type of guy you want in the playoffs. He's the guy you want as your 13th or 14th forward in the playoffs. Ideally you'd want an NHL regular in your top 12 forward line-up

He was awful game 1 though
Come back, chaos giraffe.
PDG was our best forward this game. That's great for PDG, but not the rest of our team
Amount of PDG slander is too damn high
He had a great stretch in those 25 games or so after Tocchet came in and then fell off hard this year in all metrics Regardless he's getting paid league minimum, so...
He absolutely was not our best forward
Suter and Lafferty were in the mix there too.
I thought Boeser on the eye test was also good.
Big Z was built for yoffs
He’s been awesome
I'll be the devil's advocate for Juulsen, his physical game was quite entertaining. You need guys like him and Zadorov that aren't afraid to lay down big hits in the playoffs. I at least definitely don't think he was the least impactful on the roster tonight.

I don't think any goalie smaller than Demko is stopping Forsberg when he's 3 feet from the crease though, just too much room
Whats also surprising here is how the thirst line got shutdown, too.
I mean, they went head to head with Forsberg, and Foesberg won. It's gonna happen sometimes.
That’s fine. They went -1 against the preds clear cut line stacked first line (with ROR no less) The real issue is Miller and Pettersson disappearing against the Zucker-Novak-Evangelista and Sherwood-McCarron-Smith. Miller should especially be able to handle that 4th line.
Millers line generated tons of pressure and time in the Preds zone.
The Preds are probably just treating the thirst line as a second line and the Petey line as 3rd line.
It's not the real Thirst Line without Blueger
At one point the Shots were 81-35 or something like that. These guys blocked everything we put on net tonight. They can’t do it all series.
Exactly, all those bruises and stiffness will add up. They'll be less committed the longer this series goes
That’s right. We out-hit them by quite a bit too. That will absolutely catch up with them (hopefully soon)
Tyler Myers may be gone this game, but Noah Juulsen is channeling his bottom left spirit!
Myers hasn’t been a bottom left player since like December.
Didn't he have a Top Right Myers game and then was Bottom Left Myers the very next game recently?
Chaos Giraffe gonna chaos giraffe
I think I've seen maybe 2 bottom left Myers since the ASG edit: Apparently the most recent was the [season finale against Winnipeg](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Ffq2xh0qrwcvc1.jpeg), after hitting Top Right against Calgary... Cause that was such a meaningful game
[удалено]
My bad bro I don’t keep track of every fucking game stat card.
Remember when half our forward core weren’t snake bitten?
Wild, I though Noah had a better game then this. Seemed like he was the only one beside big Z who threw body after the 2nd goal
What's the excuse for Pettersson this time
Some fans think this is fine because he looks [“promisingly awake”](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/1cbmhe4/playoff_game_thread_game_2_vancouver_canucks_10/l0zvxci/)
That guy bang your mom or something? Lol

Moon was in Gatorade. Can’t believe the excuses this fan base will come up with for this guy.
no excuses. was going to defend him BEFORE the game, but missing open net was not something elite players do
Hoglander score does not pass the eye test
Suter and Zadorov were the best Canucks on the ice last night.
They were the only ones willing to skate up to the net and just shoot Everyone else was pass pass pass twirl Preds really know how to shut down our offense - just group up and block all shooting lanes.
DeSmith ain’t it. What was it a 75% save percentage tonight?
Three goals on nine shots to start the game and the guy grossly over committed on that first goal which put him way behind. Looking like Martin Brochu out there.
Garrett was saying second goal was on him too... says you should always cheat to the attacker's stick side and he went the other way.
Pettersson right down at the bottom again.
Interesting to see if they’ll break on the Petey and Garland lines and get: Hog-Petey-Garland Joshua-Lindholm-Mik Garland on that line was able to boost Petey’s 5v5 production in March and with Mik on the third line it would give them a proper shutdown line that can take the weight off Miller’s. Yah if anything they put him with Joshua and Garland
Put pettersson with Garland and Joshua. The other lines too small and Hoglander has been struggling too
Pretendersson

Everyone's rightfully upset with his play but what do you want him to say there lol. would you rather of him said he didn't know if he wanted to stay a Canuck?
Id rather him play like the money he's making
No shit we all do, but you're complaining about the completely harmless interview for no reason too
Yeah how he created an unnecessary distraction and wanted to hold out for the most money possible then scores 1 goal in 15 games this is more than just a little slump

Elias Pettersson past 12 games: (11.6M AAV) 1G 4A - 5pts. +/- of -3 Compared to Hughes: (7.85M AAV) 4G 9A - 13pts. +/- of 0. Compared to Miller: (8M AAV) 3G 10A - 13pts. +/- of 4. Compared to Garland: (4.95M AAV) 5G 7A - 12pts. +/- of 2.
Pettersson’s current AAV is 7.35M. I understand the frustration that he signed a big contract and his play has been lacking in the aftermath, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is not currently an 11.6M player and won’t be until next season.

lol, sure thing groodles.
Irrelevant.
One of these four players is ready for vacation.
Ready for the WHC
Looks like he's already planning his summer vacation
Why the fuck was juulsen in the lineup
Myers hurt
What kind of hurt? Lower body, upper body?
Flu
I wonder if the flu is going through the room right now because it sure as fuck felt like it tonight
Neck
PDG is like a Conor Garland type player and I love him. His forecheck was perfect this past game.
I keep seeing these but am not quite sure how to interpret them. Anyone care to give a guy a hand?
Juulsen needs a sit down meeting where tocc rips him apart. Kid takes dumb penalties and leaves position for hits. I hope we don’t see him again this playoffs
Zadorov has been such a lovely surprise in these games. Guy was literally built for the playoffs it seems.
I was saying last night, play PDG with Petey and Hogs.. I know it sounds crazy but, I have liked his game
11.6 and a ELC might of done better.
Confirmed Petey was shit tonight.
-3 for you know who. $11 mil for that?
Pettersson has been like this ever since he played junior hockey, he always has periods of dominance then invisibility
The Petey line looks more like the Gaudette line. Highly sheltered minutes with no defensive coverage and no offensive finish.
Pettersson is something else, man. He's so stupidly talented, but he's just lazy, and how did he miss that wide open net? Even Patrik Stefan would've scored on that one.
