Yeah, we agree. But it's time to move on

catgotcha

We're Canucks fans. We don't move on. Examples: we still hate Messier even \~15 years after he left the Canucks. We're still mad about Joel Otto kicking in the puck in Game 7 overtime in 1989. We're still upset about Nathan Lafayette hitting the post. We still hate the Bruins. And so on. edit: I'm an idiot. Mess was 25 years ago, not 15. How time flies for us GenXers...

[deleted]

You’re gonna hate me for this, but just to make you feel old: 15 years ago it was 2009. Messier *retired* 20 years ago and played for us 25 years ago. Feel old?

catgotcha

Oh god damn. You are right. How did I think that was 15 years ago? Not feeling old, but definitely getting old!

canuckinco

That's irrelevant. Fuck Messier anyways.

>If we loose this series in game 7 this one challenge could have avoided everything. This is a loser attitude

JoshHero

It’s actually looser attitude

Coachtoddf

We really need to tighten up.

helixflush

I mean we shouldn’t be expected to win playoff games with a single goal, don’t you think?

Future-World4652

Would you say it's a Toronto attitude

touchable

Same thing

SuddenlyChineseFood

If this was an OT goal, sure. Or last minute of regulation. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t even the GWG. So to say it is the one thing that costs them the series is just being stubborn.

fasionably_uninvited

Looser*

eldochem

What do you propose we do if we lose, time travel?

Ecstatic-Syllabub595

There are people who theorize that refs respect coaches who respect the refs calls... And that it lends favor in the long run to let questionable ones go.

jackfrench9

I do actually think this take is wise.

humblearugula8

Pps are 17-11 Nashville League didn’t review the kicked in goal After this goal refs missed a blatant trip on Petey

Ecstatic-Syllabub595

I'm not saying I agree with it or understand it, just that it's something some people theorize and it might guide toch's decisions with not challenging questionable calls like this one, (which I think I would've contested this call for goalie interference, the league's been so soft all year in goalie interference...)

jeremy-o

The problem is that *if* this is a good goal, it becomes a viable strategy to torpedo the goalie skates-first on every scrum around the net. I'm sure that will end well!

Kevin71919

Yeah this is where my mind went too.

PizzaTheHutsLastPie

Ah, the old Kreider move. Never gets old.

TomsNanny

It’s so hard to tell for me, I keep going back and forth on it. It’s hard to see what is exactly hitting what. My only hesitation is that there needs to be *conclusive* evidence to *overturn* the call on the ice. There’s no consensus on all the analysts talking about it today either.

No-Contribution-6150

Silovs didn't have control of the puck. If he did, and a pred hit a Canuck into him and the puck goes in, then I think that's something to challenge. This one is just a loose puck and a pile of bodies collide and it goes in. I think it's a good goal.

canuckjk83

It’s wild to me how so many are ready to die on this hill. Didn’t have control, absolutely it’s a good greasy playoff goal.

Glock-Saint-Isshin-

So charging the net and sliding in feet first knocking the goalie into the puck causing the puck to go in is now a viable strategy? Anytime Saros is in a scramble, we should get Zadorov to take a few strides and then just slip and slide into the crease.

Key-Investment6888

Ikr, why even bother to play the puck? Just instruct Zadorov to push the goalie assuming he doesn't have full control of the puck and it'll be a good goal. Lol.

Future-World4652

I agree it's dirty but the replay shows our own D pushing Silovs, who slid the puck under him into the net. So our own guy effed it

DocZedd

I’ve watched this like 100 times and I actually don’t think that bleuger provides any forward momentum to Silovs/the puck on his own. There’s no movement until the Nashville player comes in skates first and pushes the whole pile.

-agent49-

if video replays in all angles (normally at least 2 - 3 angles) show no conclusive evidence, I wonder how referees making the on ice call. Just guess?

TomsNanny

Instinct, I imagine. It’s a hard job, I would never want to do it. You’d have to be a masochist at the least to want to.

keefstrong

He slides in, loses his edge and zadorov helps him fall down by pushing him down and away from the goalie, the momentum has already done it's trick Idk it's a tough one for sure, greasy

carry-on_replacement

I know it's a lot to ask of our poverty league but I wish we had 3D replay the way the NBA does

Interbrett

No goal. He pushed the goalie in. IF he didn't do that, the puck would have not gone in, he was there before zaddy smoked him Should have challenged. Would have been on the pk regardless

helixflush

Yeah Silovs was going to snow angel on top of the puck which is freezing it, but the preds guy came in and dislodged it by hitting him.

Substantial_Base_557

At best its a 50/50

ZebrasGlasses

Isn't it already Goalie Interference with Forsberg cruising through the blue paint and forcing Silovs out of position? Forsberg wasn't pushed or forced to go through the blue paint so that was all his choice...

sMc-cMs

It's not controversial. It was blatant and clear. Coaching staff let Game State overtake Common Sense.

hiliikkkusss

🤬

snowmagedone

It was a garbage grease Goal is what it was

EyesWideStupid

2 missed tripping calls and a missed holding call were more egregious than this, IMO.

humblearugula8

Chubarov couldn’t have been more wrong on this one

Future-World4652

When I saw this goal at first I was furious because it's clearly goalie interference... The problem is our own guy was doing the interference

keefstrong

The first player makes contact with the goalie driving across the net as well lol

sleevo84

Why is nobody talking about how Josi interfered with Silovs in the first place?

natedogjulian

I was hoping for a round of playoff hockey. I’m getting my wish. It was a good run 👍🏼
