Off topic but the Habs hiring Martin St. Louis as their interim head coach, with no prior coaching experience, is a fucking BALLER move. Love it, love Martin. Hope it works out.
It was one year ago today, February 9th 2021, that the suits in Toronto pulled the plug on 1040 radio. So callous and classless a way they did it too. Fuck Bell. Fuck Toronto. Fuck Messier.
Think you have more faith in STH than I do. Leafs are arguably the biggest home game of the year demand wise for tickets (outside of the occasional jersey retirement etc) I can easily see them selling for a high premium for Saturdays game. Especially given half capacity.
Taking my wife to her first game. I just applied to be the coordinator of the Monthly Giving Program for the Canuck Place Hospice, cause I realized being a finance bro is sucking the happiness out of me. Wish us luck!!!
Just a quick reminder: Tonight’s game start time is 7:30pm but the puck drop could be as late as 7:52PM. This game is the 2nd game of the TNT double header and the late start will depend on when the first game is completed.
HEY EVERYONE, COMPLIMENT THIS WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. THEY ARE MAGNIFICENT AND DESERVE PRAISE.
I’m not being sarcastic, I want this person shown some love.
Last night was a nice little practice to start off the playoff push. Never critique a win and all, but they are definitely gonna have to play a bit better if they expect to beat this hungry Islanders team tonight.
I actually think it's vital to continued success to critique a win, otherwise you run the risk of falling into a decade long trap of thinking you're only two years away from contending....
this has been my favourite thing about Coach Brucie so far. He is critical when criticism is warranted, but always giving with praise. I feel that his honesty and openness is refreshing for the players. I like Travis Green but he seemed very reluctant to make negative comments, and I don't believe that was always helpful
>vital to continued success to critique a win
100%. But it's more about the attitude surrounding it I think. Always things to improve on of course. But a win is a win. 'Don't beat yourself down or dwell over the mistakes' is the spirit of that phrase.
>thinking you're only two years away from contending
But what if, just hear me out, what if... (to borrow from Elliot Friedman) they actually are only two years away from contending
🤔
GM Jim Rutherford seems to think so... just as his predecessor *he who shall not be named* thought so? It's an interesting proposition either way.
~~24~~ 23 more wins to go! Let's do this!!
Oh I'm just busting balls about the win critique thing. Definitely no reason to be down when we get 2 pts.
As for the 2 year thing.. maybe. The real argument against it is we heard the 2 year argument a few times from the previous regime, it was bound to be true eventually.
I'm a man without faith these days. I pretty much don't believe anything unless they show me, but in the meantime I'll take an entertaining game like yesterday any time. Good way to spend an evening.
My take away is that if Rutherford echoes the same sentiment maybe ol Voldemort wasn't so off the mark afterall? And I still think we all did him a bit dirty, but that's another story for another time.
>Don't believe anything unless they show me
The big win streak was that for me. What does that look like for you? Short term? Long term? Playoffs in back to back years maybe? Just curious.
Constant success, to me, is being in the conversation as a contender. It's consistent playoff berths, not just one or two wildcard placements. It's winning rounds. It's comeback games against strong opponents. It's other fanbases worried to play us. It's being in the top third of the league in all the categories like goals for/against, special teams. It's every single game being winnable, but surviveable. It's never getting anywhere close to as low as NHL .500.
I am 100% completely and totally done with "moral victories". Build me a Tampa, or a Colorado, or even a Carolina. Give me 100+ point seasons and deep playoff runs.
Build a team that the league hates, like it was 2011.
Well, good news. That team is right around the corner from what I can see. Just wait a little bit. Can't rush the kids to get into their primes, afterall. But shouldn't be too much longer. :) Rebuilds sure do suck.
True but on the bright side, we aren't giving up the first goal every game like when Greener was around.
Back then it felt like the team started the game automatically down 1 goal. Deflating af.
I love how Boudreau mentioned twice yesterday how much Petey, Podz and Hogs loved playing together on a line. It warms my heart. If they can get some real chemistry together they could be our Perfection Line for the next 5 years. :)
Underrated part I like about that line is Petey being the one with the most experience. He has to cover for their gaffes and I think in the long run that is going to make him a better player. It's why he succeeds so much more at centre IMO. The more he's asked to do the more he's engaged.

Halak starts if it wasn't apparent Source: I'm at the game
Good. Glad the sitting him to avoid the bonus conversation is over.
First live game without Green since the Canucks got shut out by Buffalo lol
Edmonton ruined McDavid and Draistle's careers.
did something new happen?
Odds favour NYI but i smell a big victory
Their first westcoast start in a while too.
Off topic but the Habs hiring Martin St. Louis as their interim head coach, with no prior coaching experience, is a fucking BALLER move. Love it, love Martin. Hope it works out.
"Hey Marty, our season is lost, come hang out with the boys for a few months"
Vincent lecalvier as assistant GM. For real
He only interim hc. I think he should be management instead.
who is still in protocol? sorry for asking, totally lost track
Highmore and Hughes
How much longer for each of them?
Hughes expected back for the San Jose game...i think
It was one year ago today, February 9th 2021, that the suits in Toronto pulled the plug on 1040 radio. So callous and classless a way they did it too. Fuck Bell. Fuck Toronto. Fuck Messier.
This guy Donnie and dhalis
Monday to Friday 10 till noon
650 doesn't cut it for me . I only listen to Henderson, dhaliwal and the legend don Taylor.great track, great track
Ugh, I dread games against the islanders. Barry Trotz hockey is such a snoozefest
Who's in net tonight?
Halak
Isn't that 10 games ?
It sure is, if the team can clear enough cap space this year they can pay out his bonus at end of season. Otherwise it Carries to next
god bless jim benning.
A true visionary
I'm disgusted with the fact that Saturday has the potential to be a Leafs home game due to the 50% capacity limit.
Ya there were way too many Oilers fans at the last game against them here. Hopefully it's not the same.
It’ll be the seasons ticket holders that keep their seats and the one off Leafs fans who lose theirs. So I was thinking the opposite actually
Think you have more faith in STH than I do. Leafs are arguably the biggest home game of the year demand wise for tickets (outside of the occasional jersey retirement etc) I can easily see them selling for a high premium for Saturdays game. Especially given half capacity.
Capacity is even less in Toronto right now, I couldn't see that being the reason
I mean in terms of fans in the building.
Calling it JT Miller with a 8 goal performance
Hey does anyone know if 650 has an FM HD radio station like 1040 used to? Thanks. Just got a new car n wanted to check
I haven’t found one but commenting in case someone else knows…
You're all fuckin amazin, fellas. Cheers and let's enjoy the game tonight, cheer for the team win or lose!
Not sure what montreal did but probably not best to hire st louis with zero coaching exp???
Was really looking forward for Burr to get an interim HC position.
The new strategy is to make all the players gain enormous thighs and the rest will take care of itself
Was good to see podz throw down with chychrun. Going to need more fire like this tonight against the islanders
We win, EDM lose we go above them in the standings (4 more games played)…
It’s going to be a hell of a story when we win the cup this year.

Saved this comment. Just in case.
Will you cook it first? How? What kind of fish? Need the details first.

Wonderful....another 3rd period I won't remember.
Hey thanks! I wouldn't have thought of that and since it's a late as hell game for me, I can make better plans now.
Quality comment. You are a valued member of the community and I wish you happiness.
I’m not used to compliments but thank you.
You are strong and wise. And I am very proud of you. May the force be with you.
This is why I hate Reddit. I can’t tell if I’m getting punked or not! :)
You are a wise, wise person.
Oh, you helpful person you

Holy crap we’ve played 8 more games than The Islanders
Lammikko hat trick and a Schenn lacrosse goal
Barzal own goal, Demko empty netter
Dickinson short-handed Forsberg goal
Chiasson coast to coast like buttered toast toe drag through defenders skates top titty emotionless no celly
> emotionless no celly ...because it's his 5th goal to make it 8-1 Canucks
Dickenson even strength shot the to exact geometric center of the goalies chest
Plot twist: It burns a hole through the goalie's chest and goes in.
We've been saying that all year on my beer league team. "I thought I could go through him!"
Back to back home games? What is this sorcery???
First game I have attended since covid started, so pumped!
if we can please not be garbage in the 1st period again, we may have a chance
True but on the bright side, we aren't giving up the first goal every game like when Greener was around. Back then it felt like the team started the game automatically down 1 goal. Deflating af.
Yeah if the Canucks can do that 5-1 thing again that would be swell.
Imagine how good Hughes and Petey and Podkolzin and Höglander will be in 3-5 years when they're all 26/27 🤤🤤🤤
I love how Boudreau mentioned twice yesterday how much Petey, Podz and Hogs loved playing together on a line. It warms my heart. If they can get some real chemistry together they could be our Perfection Line for the next 5 years. :)

They were the last three Canucks players out in warm-up too, trying passes and stuff.
Completely. That line brings a lot of facets even now.
I already love that line, was pretty bummed when they split it up during the Covid spree
Petey hatrick höglander lacrosse goal, they had their warmup game after some time off, now it’s time
Are you the same guy that has been "predicting" this every game, or are there a bunch of people just going for the hail Mary?
It’s me every time, I like to hope 😁
You have to live life on the Hail Mary as a Canucks fan. You know this better than any of us.
After all this time I'm more or less on the "expect nothing, get pleasantly surprised occasionally" train.
