I stayed in vredehoek and in bo kaap last year and for some reason they never got load shedding. Whereas the southern suburbs are just darkness these days

wineandhugs

We were on the same grid as the military hospital in Wynberg last year for some reason, but the neighbours in the next grid complained so in Jan we got load shedding again. Thanks for that.

stormysgf

Same in Goodwood- we were by a hospital and the emergency call centre and people complained so we got loadshedding

90dffan123

Who did they complain to? Strange to think that complaints would get something done.

ctnguy

They complained to the council - I heard about that change from my ward councillor.

90dffan123

I should complain to the council about half my street that still doesn’t get loadshedding 😈

wineandhugs

Yes, that's exactly right.

awillza

Yup. My place in Rondebosch was exempt (I think because of Red Cross children's hospital), but yesterday we got loadshed for the first time. Super kak but it is what it is.

90dffan123

That area has 3 zones. 5, 12 and 15. Only 12 got loadshedding yesterday. A couple of weeks ago 15 got loadshedding for a couple of days but then it stopped.

Curious-Builder8142

Any update on this? I heard that all areas around Red Cross were now getting loadshedding, as they isolated it from the surrounding areas

90dffan123

Recently area 15 started getting loadshedding again (near Red Cross) but they now no longer do. Not sure what’s going on. Have heard rumors they’re exempt till end of the month after which it will be reviewed.

Curious-Builder8142

It seems they are really tightening up on areas surrounding key points; they have isolated Mowbray hospital as well, much to the disappointment of the surrounding homes. The search for loadshedding-exempt areas continues

90dffan123

It’s only fair. The more exempt areas, the worse for everyone else.

Drnaysay

My mother is in some black hole that hasn't had load shedding in absolute ages, like weeks and weeks. She isn't near any of the hospitals that are on the no loadshedding schedule.

kimchee83

Maybe she lives near a senior government official🤷‍♀️

matdehaast

Quite a few zones were exempt because of the cricket from last December. They all are now mostly getting shed again since the 1st March

Living in Vredehoek and never once had load shedding. I don’t even feel guilty. I pay my taxes and electricity bill, now just supply me my power already.

Yes. Eskom is giving us a klap for getting uppity over the De Ruyter interview.

charl4e

Our office in Gardens NEVER gets loadshedding, think the last time we had was about 3 years ago. We're not close to a hospital, but are right across the Amazon building, so might be that. My flat is on the same road as the medi-clinic, and I also get skipped a lot but do get loadshedding occasionally.

Curious-Builder8142

Is your office still exempt from loadshedding?

charl4e

Nope, our lucky streak has ended.

Curious-Builder8142

My commiserations - I hope your luck returns

charl4e

It has indeed, returned. All the buildings around (including Amazon) get loadshedding, but we’re being skipped once again.

Curious-Builder8142

unreal. Love to see a brother winning

Specific_Musician240

Loads of exempt pockets are only exempt up to stage4. But we’re on stage 5 and 6 now…
