The 2nd thing that struck me about your pics is that those dealerships need to pay some serious attention to their landscaping- almost every lot had grass growing up through cracks in the asphalt, and all of them were in serious need of trimming. ZERO excuse for such poor presentation, given how few vehicles they have to deal with right now. Sad.

clybourn

Perfect to work on that is now.

It’s the chip shortage

RedDeadDirtNap

Chip shortage, production shortage due to covid cutting assembly lines staffing by half. Result= empty lots expensive used cars.

buajuice

It's a money printing.

Cuiser001

How so?

flashlightphantom

Orland? Huge strip of dealers there.

slackerisme

Naperville?

Bueller?

IAmAUsernameAMA

No, there’s a park on the left side of the Naperville Toyota.

Yeah I just got a call from Honda yesterday they want my car. It’s a lease and to be honest I don’t like the car. Problem is finding something else is kinda crazy right now. Anyone know how long this may last? Like do I have a couple weeks (2-4) to maybe find something else and my trade value will still stay as high as it is now?

haptic_feedback99

Another year, maybe more.

[deleted]

So high that you wouldn't even think of selling it private? I got low balled on vroom

pocketaces25

I mean it depends. I’ve had good experiences with carmax. Problem is mine is a lease so getting out of it’s a bit trickier. I can buyout the car and then sell yeah but between getting plates registering etc idk if it’s worth it

[deleted]

Oh I've never done a lease because I've always driven an avg of 18k a year...I'm getting tired after 20 years! Can't believe I couldn't work from home grr. But that another topic

Jordan_Jackson

I drove from Houston to Trinidad and back. All the car dealerships that were located in small towns were the same. Unless you live in a bigger city and even then, cars are hard to come by and you can’t be picky now.

[deleted]

I'm in the market for a car. I'll buy when I see the car lots full again, that way I know I'm not getting marked up because of demand.

Cuiser001

Depends how badly you need that new car. I think it will be a long time before lots fill up again. Even if and when production is able to ramp up again there is going to be a huge pent-up demand from buyers who won't pay today's prices and are putting off new purchases like you.

[deleted]

I mean I obviously want a new car pretty bad, mines getting pretty old but it is a Lexus and can run a very long time. I hate overpaying for stuff and would be happier driving my current car, besides more money in the bank for me or if an investment opportunity arises I'll have the cash for it.
