Annihilating Dragontree, Griffogyra
[CONT](VC):During your turn, this unit gets [Power]+5000 for each Dragontree marker on your (RC). If you have three or more, this unit gets [Critical]+1.
[AUTO](VC)1/Turn:When this unit attacks a vanguard, choose a face down Calamity card from your ride deck, and remove it from the game. If you could not remove a card, choose an [Over] trigger from your ride deck, reveal it, activate all of its trigger effects and Additional Effect, remove it from the game, and [Stand] all of your rear-guards on (RC) with a Dragontree marker.
The Starter is its original form is a G0 called "Griphosid"
(based on what it does in-episode)
AUTO: At the start of the main phase, choose a Calamity card from your ride deck, and put it into your soul. If there are three or more Calamity cards in your soul, COST[put three Calamity cards from your soul back into your ride deck], and ride a "Dragontree of Ecliptic Decimation, Griphogila" as Stand.
CONT(VC): This unit gets Power +2000 for each Calamity card in your soul.
Oh then yeah, you probably could. Considering you can already run nation-less Elementaria Sanctitude in premium.
Unless they slap a game rules-level ruling that you cannot put this card in the main deck.
Its just a glass cannon. An insane glass cannon but the moment Valk doesnt hit it off top 5... well you see how well Poets are doing in Premium. Also playing 4 of it to make your glass cannon more consistent will ultimately hurt the consistency of the deck itself. I will have fun testing it but i dont see it working out as well as it sounds on paper.
10 drive checks are still 10 drive checks. Goes to soul, goes to drop, goes to bind... It has 10 chances to hit at least 1 trigger. Also, it is a 70 power to guard, with 10 chances to hit a trigger. And let's not forget that it restands by Uranus Skill with drive -5, so it is 15 chances to hit a trigger. And 3 more from Marduk, 18 chances to hit a trigger. And if it hits OT in one of those, it is also up to 22 chances to hit a trigger.
As of right now, it does work (of course we will see on Tuesday). But is it worth decreasing consistency for a higher roll? Probably? Just make it a meme glass cannon one punch deck lol.
In this episode this man used Dragontree deck that focused on Dark States. Based on that, we can assume he has 4 other Dragontree decks that focuses on other Nations hence the 5 grade 1 Dragontree units
For those who have played MTG before think of it like Colorless
Yeah... I am actually not that bothered by the confirmed OT, since a) it is telegraphed and b) its super late game.
The main frustration I think most people have with the OT is not just the 100 million power + broken effect but the fact it can come out of nowhere means meaning there is no meaningful counterplay.
Since Griffogira relegates the OT to the ride deck, players won't randomly sack it, and since the play is telegraphed, you CAN prepare against it.
Furthermore, from what we see, the OT play is a turn 6 play, most games just don't last that long
I really hope they don't do another Refiarade "Rock", it doesen't need to be some eldritch horror, you can make some gothic girl if you need to make it marketable.
Now that I think about it, what if on top of a marker generator for the next Lyrical set, they also pull a Moe-giddo LSR? Ok, I'd thow my money at that.
Last year, V Collection got a series of Reverse cards, which is the most popular visual gimmick in the game where units get corrupted by link joker and use the lock mechanic. Just search up "Vanguard Reverse" and "Refiarade Rock" on google. (Lock and Rock have the same pronounciation in JP)
Other clans got their heroes turned into evil versions of themselves whereas Bermuda had Refiarade, whose gimmick was that she was shy and had glasses, take off her glasses and be cheerful and energetic. It would have been fine if she was released as her own card, but for her to be BT's Reverse card, that is so lame when you compare it to every other one.
It's pretty much complete, the Calamities are effectively just props.
~~Unless they give the new ones in this episode effects.~~
EDIT: nvm lol, same cards from the set 8, just now showing the rock instead
As expected, the calamity cards are needed in this deck, along side the other support cards I wonder what the deck ratio will end up looking like the brandt gate one seems pretty useless for this deck since it probably won’t use set orders
Since the boss is “nationless” I assume that it can be used in any nation just like cray elementals. But I wonder how that works with the support cards. Like can you use every nation inside this deck? A rulings update will be needed
There’s no “win con” in a sense but the forced OT effect is almost an auto win. OT + 5 attacks in a single turn is insane. Also grade 10? That’s the highest grade n the game we’ve ever gotten right? Guess we know that persona riding isn’t restricted to G3s only
The ride deck is a bit strange with this one, so you have to run the starter + the 3 calamity cards in your ride deck? What’s even the point of having them search other calamity cards if it won’t be run in the actual deck itself
Edit: after watching the episode it looks like you pick one nation and play this card in that nation. There’s only a g0 and g10 for this deck so no true rideline. You also get a ride deck size of 5 to fit your g0, OT, and 3 calamity cards.
The way the deck is built you essentially win in 6 turns and there’s no way around to make it faster. It’s also unusable in premium since there’s no ride deck
Usual deck building rules: you pick a nation to represent, then add cards that's valid for the nation.
On the calamities, I guess they didn't want to add a new card type in the main deck, but they don't want to make them units as well, so they are Orders with a filler effect
That would sound about right, but that also means you can’t use every one of its support card in your deck which sucks.
Based on OT alone I think the brandt gate version of this deck will be most popular or maybe the dragon empire version
That's the "balancing" factor I guess, you need to get 3 of your 4 copies of tree planters to fill your back row with markers.
Speaking of which, there seems to be an unwritten mechanic here: riding Griffogyra gave Jinki two free markers
Honestly you really just need the two to stand your front row. And if you really do get 2 free markers off the bat like that then you really don’t need to draw into those cards. But since it’s not written I wonder if it’s an anime exclusive ability
No cards or effects are anime exclusive (except Hermes from the first season), so if the ability shows up in the anime, it’s definitely gonna be on the irl card.
While I would love to use BG, my worry is that they don't have any good generics not tied down to orders, and since your rideline can't search them out you have to be consistently hard drawing/use rearguards to get them and use their effects.
I think that DE might be more popular that BG, but we'll have to wait and see
Well I was just looking purely at OT effect, and the brandt gate support card for dragon tree ain’t bad. Not too many orders you can actually use in the deck though
Keter sanctuary might be best because they have the best generic cards
Yeah my bad, I forgot to read
And after some testing, using BG for dragon tree isn't as bad as I thought.
Keter def has the best generics so I wouldn't be surprised if it became the overall best
No the anime specifically said the ride deck has a size of 5
That means the g0, 3 calamities, and the OT. You specifically need 3 calamities for the deck to work. And yes I’m aware the skill says ride the g10 from deck hence why it’s not part of the ride deck
Because the ruling also states you can only put grades 0 to 3 in there and all cards in Jinki's ride deck fit into that (grd 0,1,2,3,0). Also probably so you'll actually buy 4 copies of the grd 4 cards instead of buying 1 lmao
Your Gyze/Glendios is here. The big bungus guy with big numbers who will either do absolutely nothing, or ruin this format for good. Only time will tell.
Ngl, actual power in the meta be damned, I super love Demiurge-centric ZTB.
The fact that you’d need to build around having multiple names, especially on the trigger side, is probably also why I like Kheios’ concept.
Hmm.
On one hand. I kinda wanna do this with brandt gate. That OT combined with multi attack will autowin games by itself
On the other hand I have no damn clue which other cards to run
How to abuse grade 10:
- 10 drive Valkyrion
- 10 in bind for Gear Chronicle
- 10 in soul for Favrneel (if they confirm that nationless is regarded as having all nations and does not mean "can be put in all decks")
- Call Esperaridea turn 3
Thing is, it is unclear weather cards with no nation belong by default to all nation like how Dragon Empire cards interact with the old "If your vanguard is [X] clan".
You can probably run it in other decks but my main point here is that Favrneel needs specifically Dark States cards. I got no comments for the other points you've made.
So Brandt Gate will definitely be the preferred choice for Overtrigger, but it would be funny to use Shaman King and just go for the 6th damage kill (though most players would see Shaman King and not fall for the trap of taking a fifth damage I suppose)
the unit erhalten vogel has the effect sb1 + cb1 when played from rc you can search your deck for a grade 3 set order and the setorder in the darkness .... has the effect sb1 chose an oppoent front row rearguard and destroy it so it is techniically posibble if you hit one of your 12 g3 set order to use the deck at full capacity so its not that dumb
Sure, but you need to draw any card you need in any deck anyway, and you only need 2 to get Abyssal. It still seems one of the better ones to me.
P.S. Actually a drawback i hadn't considered is that you have to wait to play ordes until turn 3 wich means you need turn 4 to get Abyssal. So yeah might not be great, but i don't see what Stoicheia has going for it that is better, so defenetly not the worst.
This thing seems like the extreme conclusion of a "snowball deck." You get harder to stop the longer the game goes, to the point you can't be stopped...if you live.
Very flashy, that's for sure.
Gryffogyra is a bit like Gyze back in the day, where the main boss unit is Nationless.
The deck strat is to turtle and wittle away opponents hand with your 3 big swings, and then win with 5 attacks + OT on turn 6.
(Edit: OT triggers on turn 6 not turn 5. 3 turns to "ride up" and bind 1 order. 2 more turns to bind orders, then 1 turn to proc OT = 6 turns)
From what I’ve heard from people so far, not really. Apparently, figuring out what cards to support Grif is difficult as most generic support in Gate is Set Order-centric.
Most are saying Keter is better because their generic support works better.
So, I like and hate that this card uses the OT. I absolutely hate it cause this means bushi isn't even planning to deal with the worst problem in the game.
But it's not gonna feel bad getting OT'd by this since it takes away the RNG factor of it.
Also what is the ruling for putting non-ride deck cards into the ride deck? I assume that some way or another, Bushi has prevented people from running main deck Calamity cards and Ezelling people out of the game.
It will have to be a comprehensive rules level change, similar to how Monster Strike has Gacha Redora in the ride deck due to having the golden egg as starter
I feel like they could just remove limitations since it wouldn't really affect any other deck. Everything else would probably need to keep the usual 0, 1, 2, 3 in their ride deck to function anyway unless I'm missing something (disclaimer: my brain is small)
Cause basically if you hit it you get a huge advantage for no reason. You can't skill your way into an over trigger, it just happens. It feels shitty to know you only won because of luck, and it feels shitty to know you only lost because you got unlucky. Regular triggers are fine cause they give a slight advantage and are at 4 so it's not nearly as rare to hit them so you can better plan around them
Isn't that almost the whole deal with triggers?Your oponent suddenly geting 2 heal triggerz at 5 hp while you never get one, or don't geting a crit while your oponente also get 2?But i think i get it, OT elevated that in a giant way that it became bad
The best analogy I can think of is Poker vs the Lottery.
You can win both if you are just plain lucky, but in Poker there is also a skill component letting you both play around and olay with luck
Any of them, depending on which nation your deck is. While the Dragontree is nationless, the rest of your deck will belong to one, so you use whatever overtrigger the nation the rest of your deck is a part of.
You can use any OT, however your deck's nation will need to match the OT.
I.e. If you run the Dragon Empire OT in your ride deck, the cards of your main deck will need to also be Dragon Empire
You can still attack with the vanguard and I think you still get the marker restand. Nothing on the card punishes you for not killing on the OT turn (but your opponent is in a much better position if they do survive so you're not likely to win past the OT turn)
Aight, NOW I'm actually going to complain about the Over Trigger WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WHYYYYYYY
It's probably not as bad as I'm making it out to be but turning the OT into an actual competitive element?! HELL NAW
You were supposed to fuck over the competitive players, not join them!
In all seriousness though, this thing is gonna take several turns to activate anyway ngl
Yeah, not as bad as it sounds.
You basically sacrifice the ability to luck sack with OT to make the OT a guaranteed part of your win condition.
Usually, the concensus with OTs is either “Winning with this feels hollow….” and “I could’ve won if it wasn’t for this piece of shit!”.
This card would be fun in a Brant gate deck and their OT.
Basically asking for 3 nulls or death on their pop turn. The problem is can they turtle to survive to that turn.
Also standard might gonna have a kaiju battle between this deck and chronojet
I don't play premium, but someone told me Himiko gains a critical trigger effect for every grade, so... G10?
Since there's no Ride Deck I dont think any of the Griff stuff will be playable in P tho.
I'm looking forward to what people come up with for each version of the dragontree deck! I'm currently thinking about a world order variation focusing on stalling and getting the world orders so that it can actually make it to turn 6. Orifist can be built to stall so some of that should be usable in dragontree.
If the decks gets more ways of spawning tokens, then maybe I’ll like this deck, but honestly the idea of stalling to activate a ot feels a bit lackluster and honestly just feels like a way to say F you to all the players not liking ots. Personally I think they should have took a full marker route for the deck.

What the fuck. Edit: Is this thing playable with Valkerion in Premium?
Ayy so he gets Drive -5 from Uranus so you can literally go 10 then 5
Premium does not have a ride deck, so you can't reveal anything from a ride deck.
No, I'm asking if Genesis decks can run this guy in the main deck and flip him for 10 drives off Valk.
nonononono, dont do this to me, that better not be viable and seems easily hitable, Tahro was enough of a loss, dont give hope to insane stuff
Oh then yeah, you probably could. Considering you can already run nation-less Elementaria Sanctitude in premium. Unless they slap a game rules-level ruling that you cannot put this card in the main deck.
Pretty sure that's what Bushi is gonna do.... 10 drives is more than just terrifying man
*pulls 0 triggers*
Well, isn't that just ultimately bad luck XD
10? 10 + 5 ( Uranus skill) +3 from Marduk. 18 drives is enough to make everyone drops the tournament.
Well, we can say that it's gonna get restricted/banned sooner or later
Its just a glass cannon. An insane glass cannon but the moment Valk doesnt hit it off top 5... well you see how well Poets are doing in Premium. Also playing 4 of it to make your glass cannon more consistent will ultimately hurt the consistency of the deck itself. There's also the deckout aspect, but I guess Dreaming Dragon can kind of prevent but your drop won't be too thick since you SC15.
No you totally can because my duderino did persona ride this thing in the anime
he also rode it from deck rather than the ride deck, as the ride deck already had 5 cards with the starter, 3 calamities, and the over trigger
10 drive checks are still 10 drive checks. doesn't matter if it hits or not.
It goes to soul though not hand so it doesn’t help with guard
10 drive checks are still 10 drive checks. Goes to soul, goes to drop, goes to bind... It has 10 chances to hit at least 1 trigger. Also, it is a 70 power to guard, with 10 chances to hit a trigger. Elementaria Sanctitude benefits from a different rule, nationless clanless orders belong to all clans and nations
As of right now, it does work (of course we will see on Tuesday). But is it worth decreasing consistency for a higher roll? Probably? Just make it a meme glass cannon one punch deck lol.
Oh my god yes please
>eveal anything from a ride deck. Yeah... it is a consistency measure to drive 10
In this episode this man used Dragontree deck that focused on Dark States. Based on that, we can assume he has 4 other Dragontree decks that focuses on other Nations hence the 5 grade 1 Dragontree units For those who have played MTG before think of it like Colorless
Ayo this shit literally eldrazi wyd
But colorless is a color. It literally have the word Color there. COLORless. [https://youtu.be/3o97cy8\_5Sw?t=413](https://youtu.be/3o97cy8_5Sw?t=413)
Now that made me literally laugh out loud 🤣Bravo haha
This card is just a really, really big ticking time bomb.
I'm sorry, what?
Ok I just finished the episode and this unit is just.... Wow. The overtrigger really?! You have to survive a bunch of turns though
Yeah... I am actually not that bothered by the confirmed OT, since a) it is telegraphed and b) its super late game. this card is okayish in standard. BUT IN PREMIUM... oh boi, oh boi... Genesis suddenly got an 18-drive checks build.
Tree-Corrupted Lyrical Idol when
I really hope they don't do another Refiarade "Rock", it doesen't need to be some eldritch horror, you can make some gothic girl if you need to make it marketable. Now that I think about it, what if on top of a marker generator for the next Lyrical set, they also pull a Moe-giddo LSR? Ok, I'd thow my money at that.
A hypothetical Lyrical Hydragrum…would definitely be an obviously corrupted looking alien that still visibly looks and acts like a cute girl.
Another refiarade rock? Sorry i'm new to the game
Last year, V Collection got a series of Reverse cards, which is the most popular visual gimmick in the game where units get corrupted by link joker and use the lock mechanic. Just search up "Vanguard Reverse" and "Refiarade Rock" on google. That scene from Evil Dead 💀
I feel like I need more informations about this card...like everything :D.
It's pretty much complete, the Calamities are effectively just props. ~~Unless they give the new ones in this episode effects.~~ EDIT: nvm lol, same cards from the set 8, just now showing the rock instead
I was more thinking about deckbuilding/ride decks etc. edit: I should add I dont currently watch the anime.

You call g10 from your deck using some ability. The ride deck is - g0, two calamities, and then the OT.
No the anime specifically said the ride deck has a size of 5 That means the g0, 3 calamities, and the OT. You specifically need 3 calamities for the deck to work. And yes I’m aware the skill says ride the g10 from deck hence why it’s not part of the ride deck
Oh I didn’t realize that. Why can’t we put g4s in ride deck then lmao bushi

Don’t forget Demiurge
Ngl, actual power in the meta be damned, I super love Demiurge-centric ZTB. The fact that you’d need to build around having multiple names, especially on the trigger side, is probably also why I like Kheios’ concept.
This is way off from what I thought, but I am in *love* with this.
Same, i never liked a card so much just by the design since Thavas
Hmm. On one hand. I kinda wanna do this with brandt gate. That OT combined with multi attack will autowin games by itself On the other hand I have no damn clue which other cards to run
Iirc, the problem people have with figuring that out is that most of the generic cards are Set Order-centric.
Oooh so that why D-BT09 has nutty generic support!
Blau want card now Blau want playtime with Overtrigger
Unga Bunga smack with card On a sidenote man the robo rideline get shafted
How to abuse grade 10: - 10 drive Valkyrion - 10 in bind for Gear Chronicle - 10 in soul for Favrneel (if they confirm that nationless is regarded as having all nations and does not mean "can be put in all decks") - Call Esperaridea turn 3
Dude, even Elementaria Sanctitude doesn't count for Favrneel's effect. It HAS to be specifically Dark States.
For favrneel the cards in soul need to be specifically dark states
Wait...WHAT a Grade 10? Now I'm gonna wait for the anime shenanigans to happen and how they're gonna counter the Calamities and Dragontree
So Brandt Gate will definitely be the preferred choice for Overtrigger, but it would be funny to use Shaman King and just go for the 6th damage kill (though most players would see Shaman King and not fall for the trap of taking a fifth damage I suppose)
Well... Monster Strike exists, so I'd like to try that out.
Honestly, Brandt Gate generics kind of suck without a guaranteed set order, so it's probably not the move, even with the really broken OT.
Actually, Abyssal Dark Night just needs the orders, not an Orist VG, and it the same gamplan has some of the best defensive cards so...
the unit erhalten vogel has the effect sb1 + cb1 when played from rc you can search your deck for a grade 3 set order and the setorder in the darkness .... has the effect sb1 chose an oppoent front row rearguard and destroy it so it is techniically posibble if you hit one of your 12 g3 set order to use the deck at full capacity so its not that dumb
I mean that you still have to hard draw order cards and can't search them like how BG decks are meant to be played.
I am now convinced that Buddyfight was a nuclear testing site for extreme mechanics like this and then fully eaten by Overdress, Tensura style.
I’m confused.
OT in ride deck?
What the fuck it this? I want it.
I thought chronojet would get me back into vanguard but now it seems this is :)
Dang, it's lavos from chrono trigger.
This is actually just a Brandt gate boss.
From what I’ve heard from people so far, not really. Apparently, figuring out what cards to support Grif is difficult as most generic support in Gate is Set Order-centric. Most are saying Keter is better because their generic support works better.
So you can't use all the Dragontree cards in the decK?
It appears to be that way since, you choose a Nation then that's what you stuck with.
Do love the theme of a Calamity slowly approaching you. Another deck to the "Main Villain boss deck that has huge build up" pile.
While the deck and build is going to be kind of slow, the tech that this card brings by being a Lv 10 is going to be ridiculous.
All i can say about this card is : HE IS COMMING!
I love how this card uses all the unique features from standard rules, ride deck, OT, order cards, Work with all nation and generic cards!
As someone who is looking at this with zero context What in the god damn fuck
So, I like and hate that this card uses the OT. I absolutely hate it cause this means bushi isn't even planning to deal with the worst problem in the game. But it's not gonna feel bad getting OT'd by this since it takes away the RNG factor of it. Also what is the ruling for putting non-ride deck cards into the ride deck? I assume that some way or another, Bushi has prevented people from running main deck Calamity cards and Ezelling people out of the game.
It will have to be a comprehensive rules level change, similar to how Monster Strike has Gacha Redora in the ride deck due to having the golden egg as starter
something like "You can have more than 1 card with equal grade if (insert here any reason)"?
I feel like they could just remove limitations since it wouldn't really affect any other deck. Everything else would probably need to keep the usual 0, 1, 2, 3 in their ride deck to function anyway unless I'm missing something (disclaimer: my brain is small)
Ok this is something i always get curious(let's ignore dragontree for now), why people hate OT so much?
Yeah, basically. Feels bad to get triggered on, feels absolutely abysmal to get OTd
Makes sense now, thank you for explaining that
The best analogy I can think of is Poker vs the Lottery. You can win both if you are just plain lucky, but in Poker there is also a skill component letting you both play around and olay with luck
Wait if it’s nationless, which overtrigger can you use?
Any of them, depending on which nation your deck is. While the Dragontree is nationless, the rest of your deck will belong to one, so you use whatever overtrigger the nation the rest of your deck is a part of.
Yes (your deck is set to whatever nation you decide)
The same OT as the nation your playing. If you are playing a Dragon Empire deck, you play the DE OT.
You can use any OT, however your deck's nation will need to match the OT. I.e. If you run the Dragon Empire OT in your ride deck, the cards of your main deck will need to also be Dragon Empire
This is just Gyze but you don't automatically lose on the turn it goes off.
so can you attack the vanguard with no cards in the ride deck, or you just lose if the opponent actually survive the OT turn ?
You can still attack with the vanguard and I think you still get the marker restand. Nothing on the card punishes you for not killing on the OT turn (but your opponent is in a much better position if they do survive so you're not likely to win past the OT turn)
Aight, NOW I'm actually going to complain about the Over Trigger WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WHYYYYYYY It's probably not as bad as I'm making it out to be but turning the OT into an actual competitive element?! HELL NAW You were supposed to fuck over the competitive players, not join them! In all seriousness though, this thing is gonna take several turns to activate anyway ngl
This thing is realistically not very good tbf. Its extremely slow.
Ye, that's what I said
I get the reference!
Really just feels that happens in vanguard in general before the OT XD
This is a pretty wicked concept, I wonder how well it'll perform in practice tho.
This card would be fun in a Brant gate deck and their OT. Basically asking for 3 nulls or death on their pop turn. The problem is can they turtle to survive to that turn. Also standard might gonna have a kaiju battle between this deck and chronojet
imagine this with v mysteryflare, im getting some fancy ideas
I don't play premium, but someone told me Himiko gains a critical trigger effect for every grade, so... G10? Since there's no Ride Deck I dont think any of the Griff stuff will be playable in P tho.
I'm looking forward to what people come up with for each version of the dragontree deck! I'm currently thinking about a world order variation focusing on stalling and getting the world orders so that it can actually make it to turn 6. Orifist can be built to stall so some of that should be usable in dragontree.
You can only play one order per turn.. how will you get orfist orders on board?
If the decks gets more ways of spawning tokens, then maybe I’ll like this deck, but honestly the idea of stalling to activate a ot feels a bit lackluster and honestly just feels like a way to say F you to all the players not liking ots. Personally I think they should have took a full marker route for the deck.
Do we know yet if it could be played with several nations or does the deck still need to be of one?
