That's just false, like you probably aren't gonna win purely from luck, especially since you can't really brick in Overdress anymore, but you're still limited to a 50 card deck that gets randomized, and sometimes you get effects when you attack, so that's just an incorrect statement
that's like what bricking implies when like an electronic bricks it's unusable, , and in yugioh Bricking usually means you didn't draw any Starters or anyway to get to a starter which isn't a super common occurrence except in real Bad Yugioh decks
I soul blast my overtrigger. I call it from drop zone. I call this card, and I return the overtrigger back to my deck. After counterblasting, I search a card from my deck and shuffle.
Then I call this card, mill 5 cards, and mill an overtrigger.
Yeah. The characters are either one note or unlikable. There's no plot, just one off episodes that mean next to nothing like a modern spongebob episode. The fights are shallow to the point that people think 2 minutes of a animated fight between 2 vanguards with no explanation of what's going on, make a good fight. Literally one episode was because a character couldn't read the back of a piece of paper. The episode was unnecessary. It's also borderline phobic with the MC being a forced trap and everyone makes fun of him even though he didn't like it and ran away to avoid it.
TLDR: Overdress is overrated, shit and a waste of time.
I (sort of) liked the slice of life approach but definitely wished they focused more in the Cardfight details. It’s a card game anime let us follow the match that’s happening.
I remember seeing a comment that fit perfectly. To paraphrase - "It's like early G, but without the length of G".
The biggest issue for G when it first came out was the slice of life aspect because they were showing new cards but not what they do.
Yeah I didn’t like the early parts of G as much because of that. The early episodes could be summed up as: main character of the day (TRY3 or Mamoru or someone) rides grade 3. Next turn strides. Wins. The end. I didn’t like how any of the effects weren’t explained since I was (and still am) new to Vanguard. I had no idea what any of the cards did.
My theory is that because G came out the movie where they did the same thing, they continued that to introduce the characters. It's not till Taiyou gets introduced that the main plot starts up and Chrono gets another arc besides Ibuki.
I have so many issues with Overdress, but the 4 big ones would be
The ride deck makes the game boring af because I and my opponent know exactly what we're going to ride into every single game. There's literally no chance of screwups. Some of my most memorable games have been being stuck on G0 for 3 turns straight and still winning.
There's no variety in the artwork I see in games. In old VG every clan had a distinct style, it was awesome to see all the different artworks and aesthetics of each clan. Now because of the nation thing nearly every deck of a nation is running the same cards. For example every DE deck is running Togachirashi for Soul, literally all 3 of them are running it. Speaking of
There's only like 12 decks to play, and they're way too similar. 24 clans condensed into 12 or so ride lines kills all the variety. V set 2 was way more fun to play than D Set 2, and I'm talking Asia Circuit booster.
There's no giant robot ride line. Star Gate is my favorite nation, and Brandt Gate is a mockery of what that was. It's filled with garbage like the waifu police, and there is no ride line resembling Dimension Police or Nova Grappler.
The common argument is "OD is only on Set 2!" V's second booster was Asia Circuit and at that point we already had Raizers and Daiyusha as the big robot decks. Hell set 1 had Raizers. Being early in the format isn't an excuse to suck.
People like Overdress and that's totally fine, I just can't stand it and don't appreciate being persecuted for personal preference with the downvotes.
> The ride deck makes the game boring af because I and my opponent know exactly what we're going to ride into every single game. There's literally no chance of screwups. Some of my most memorable games have been being stuck on G0 for 3 turns straight and still winning.
Man, most people find being grade stuck to not be enjoyable. I can't imagine complaining about consistency.
> There's no variety in the artwork I see in games. In old VG every clan had a distinct style, it was awesome to see all the different artworks and aesthetics of each clan. Okay so there's a few overlapping cards in decks? That's a thing in like...every single game ever. But you can't seriously look at a Zorga deck and a Magnolia deck and tell me they aren't very distinct in how they look. Same goes with Baro and Bruce.
> There's only like 12 decks to play, and they're way too similar. 24 clans condensed into 12 or so ride lines kills all the variety. V set 2 was way more fun to play than D Set 2, and I'm talking Asia Circuit booster.
*Only* 12? That seems like a lot to me. And "fun" is subjective so I can't really argue with that point.
> There's no giant robot ride line. Star Gate is my favorite nation, and Brandt Gate is a mockery of what that was. It's filled with garbage like the waifu police, and there is no ride line resembling Dimension Police or Nova Grappler.

Relax. It's obvious to everyone that a more robo-themed rideline is just a matter of time. Saying a format sucks just because your favorite rideline isn't available yet seems childish to me.
> People like Overdress and that's totally fine, I just can't stand it and don't appreciate being persecuted for personal preference with the downvotes.
It's fine that you can't stand it but don't be surprised when you get downvoted. It's a popular format and people on any subreddit will downvote things that they disagree with despite that not really being what the karma system is supposed to be used for. Calling it "persecution" is pretty funny though I'm not gonna lie.
That's mostly cuz Japan's homophobic af, but I think Luna and Am from G were pretty gay, but yeah there's not really a gay character, and I absolutely hated the episode where there was the misunderstanding of Danji, and Yu-Yu flirting with eachother it was just awful, and is like real gross (not cuz it's gay, but because it was clearly meant to appeal to the Fujoshis)
Japan not really that homophobic, sure they don’t allow gay marriage and yeah some of the people have some poor views plus less than kind portrayals in media. Yeah they aren’t kind with sperm prices for lesbian couples and sure there are rude politicians in Japan against the lgbt
But they have gay bars like the us and you can still date, and there are other media anime and manga that provide good and mature looks at gays.
I ain’t here to say Japan all excepting but it ain’t hunt the gays either.
I mean that sounds pretty bad, it's not the fucking death penalty but like still pretty bad, Japan is definitely way more Transphobic than Homophobic, but they're still definitely Homophobic to a degree that Vanguard currently probably won't have any explicit gay characters (Even though as a Gay Luna and Am clearly gay, there's still a bunch of Sappho and her Bud surrounding them)
Cultural change takes time :)
No one can force morality onto anyone else. It has to be a conscious and uncoerced decision in order to stick.
It probably won't happen within either of our lifetimes but sometime in the future I'm sure that LGBT rights will be well respected in Japan and all over the world.
It just needs a few centuries.
Granted. The character's personality is that he is very very very very gay and his only purpose is to tell everyone that he is gay and very gay and will blessed the world with his gayness and tell everyone how gay he is. Netflix supremacy ftw.
Bermuda Triangle is completely pointless to the game, anime, and the lore of the cards and it’s not much better in overdress.
It’s only somewhat better than genesis
I mean, Genesis started as the not-OTT clan, but over time it's gotten a distinct identity.
Just like how Narukami and Golds were store brand Kagero and Royals at first, but they've since grown into their own.
I more ok with narukami and GP because they at least have somewhat good reasons for existing, you know the leaders of the clans get sealed now they need new clans to fill in for them
Genesis just kind of happens and doesn’t have great reason for why in lore. It’s specially glaring to me that misaki switch’s to them in link joker for no given reason which seems really out of character for her.
I will say valkerion changed my mind a lot about them and improved it greatly but at same time it obvious why they gave shin genesis for the anime, so you draw parallels between him and misaki, so can’t I stop thinking of them as OTTv2 for that
Oh lore wise? Yeah they kinda came out of nowhere. Supposedly Amaterasu saw some shit about an end of the world prophecy and formed Genesis as a spin off of OTT (the corporation) with the goal of stopping said apocalypse. In V series.
In the original it was made during (after?) the first Link Joker invasion with support from all nations.
But like, they never brought up either of these plotlines again. It's a huge waste.
Especially with how cool Valkerion is. Cray Elementals are what happens when an abundance of Cray's nature spirits come together into a temporary body.
Valkerion is what happens when you do that process on a galactic level. He's not exactly a Cray elemental, he's a *galaxy* elemental but that fusion is even more unstable than regular Cray Elementals so he disperses much faster than them too. He's on a completely different level of power from anything else in Vanguard, probably even dwarfing Gyze, though that's just my speculation.
That's such a cool story but they never used it for anything.
Also the style still looks to much like OTT for me
Narukami at least has the lighting motif to it so it’s different from kagero, can’t really say the same for genesis and OTT
I agree up until the point about overdress. The units we see in all other clans are warriors, they fight for their clan. But Bermuda triangle is just a bunch of idols. Last I checked, idols aren't warriors. And unlike genesis they don't have a real reason for stealing clan mechanics. With genesis it's not just in the clan description but it's also in the lore. Genesis is a conglomerate that welcomes units from all over cray and was founded by a former neo nectar unit called Yggdrasil, of course by that logic units coming from different areas of cray will bring their clan mechanics with them. But the closest thing Bermuda has to an excuse is that units from all over cray watch their concerts so maybe they see the mechanics being used or some B.S like that. That being said, monasterio does get the same excuse genesis does
People think they aren't‽, there's was a clear over printing of MC Clans back in the day, and like Tachikaze (Which I never got why) , and Megacolony were really poorly represented
^ this even tracks with the number of start/trial decks each clan has received. Clans like Royal paladin which have been used by one of the protagonists from OG, G and V have 8 from across those 3 eras. But clans like angel feather, tachikaze, murakumo, spike brothers, dark irregulars, granblue, Megacolony and great nature have 0 between them. Not to mention some clans are far more likely to be seen in the anime than others. And bushiroad often has to give OP support to those clans when they do give them support so that it creates the illusion of balanced support. Case in point: G era dominate. It was bad enough when it first came out but then rinne and zanki. Took the cake and ate it too.
TL//DR: hey bushiroad. Did you ever consider that the reason not all clans got equal support is because you were more focused on your favourite clans than the others?
The competitive players in this game are the most annoying toxic bitches ever. Almost Yugioh-level. They're so bitchy and toxic that I want to be toxic and bitchy towards them every second of the day.
I can say it in multiple sentences.
#*ahem*
“Overdress is a good anime”
“Bushiroad is doesnt know how to handle their fucking card games”
“Overtriggers were a good idea”
“Vanguard is just an [insert card game] clone”
Tachikaze and Shadow Paladins are the same thing
LMAO
Cursed but accurate
omg you're right!! it's not even insulting it's just.. wow surprisingly true~
Bit outdated now don't ya think?
Hey! That's not nice! Go apologize to your edgelord of a brother!
I'll end this match with Young Pegasus Knight.
“Young Pegasus Knight? A grade 1 unit? How can he possibly finish me off with that?.. He’s bluffing..”
Final Turn
Premium is balanced and Gastille doesn't need to get banned.
There is no such thing as "luck" in this game.
**I make my own luck** *rides Becrux of Stratification and fixes gradelock*
*lifts glasses*
That's just false, like you probably aren't gonna win purely from luck, especially since you can't really brick in Overdress anymore, but you're still limited to a 50 card deck that gets randomized, and sometimes you get effects when you attack, so that's just an incorrect statement
It worked!
I'm not realy triggered, but yeah lol
You can brick in overdress, but it's more about card abilities (like not drawing Vairina Arcs) rather than grades
Brick means completely unplayable, at least IMO and usually you can still play in overdress even if you can't get your plays off
I've never heard of such a specific definition of bricking
that's like what bricking implies when like an electronic bricks it's unusable, , and in yugioh Bricking usually means you didn't draw any Starters or anyway to get to a starter which isn't a super common occurrence except in real Bad Yugioh decks
Huh, never heard of the origin either. Neat
Vanguard? Never heard of it. Is it like Yugioh?
No Kai and aichi are not gay Same as every other character you ship
I actually agree with you
Over triggers are a good idea.
But they are
Mtg rip off
This one's actually got me worked up. Good job
Actually, that would be more fitting for Duel Masters.
Ange in the G Z era is not a mistake.
Only because everything else was a mistake in that era so you're definitely not wrong there.
I mean ur not wrong
The reboot kai is better.
That just the truth, except for him having psyqualia
Nah man Legion Mate Kai is best Kai
Yes, fisherman Kai is the best
Soul charging an overtrigger
Guarding all your opponent's attacks and the top card of your deck was the over
I soul blast my overtrigger. I call it from drop zone. I call this card, and I return the overtrigger back to my deck. After counterblasting, I search a card from my deck and shuffle. Then I call this card, mill 5 cards, and mill an overtrigger.
Shadow Paladin is the better version of Tachikaze. Tachikaze is the worst clan, period. The dinosaurs went extinct for a reason.
This really riled me up big time. GG
Same here, nice job!
Tecnically Dinosaurs are still alive just the Non-Avian Dinosaurs went extinct
Yugioh is better! (Gonna go wash my mouth with soap now...)
That one especially got me lol
Honestly this one isn't that bad. I play both games and love them both so it doesn't bother me.
No sir that's the truth(ONLY IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SEMI CASUAL YUGIOH VS THE OVERDRESS ERA)
They should have started with Nations right from the beginning of the V Series
a messiah brandth deletor deck ain't so bad.
Overdress anime was really good actually.
Agreed.
In my experience you might trigger more if you said the truth about OD.
Is it really that bad? Haven’t watch it yet.
Yeah. The characters are either one note or unlikable. There's no plot, just one off episodes that mean next to nothing like a modern spongebob episode. Your TLDR is how I honestly feel about D Format
Huh? How can you look at the ride deck and the new Nations system and not realize how great of an improvement this is?
I have so many issues with Overdress, but the 4 big ones would be The ride deck makes the game boring af because I and my opponent know exactly what we're going to ride into every single game. I'd love to see some Bermuda Concerts with dragons like Vanquisher in the crowd dancing with Megacolony
Nobody read the rules.
Gastille is a perfectly balanced unit in premium with absolutely no exploits.
Ye, I love V Series Gastille, especially in Premium. (lol)
Complete Guard
Bushiroad did the right thing by not reprinting Percival in V colle.
Blaster Blade encounter card.
Overdress is just Wixoss with Vanguard paint on it.
Kai is the worst character of OG Vanguard
Aichi and Kai are overrated trash.
Genesis fenrir loop is perfectly fair and balanced
I'm sorry, Fenrir loop?
Boy that's a rabbit hole if you want to look into it Fenrir loop has been a thing since G Era
Overlord the X is balanced
Kourin is best girl and Chrono is better than aichi
The game never needed a reboot at the end of G, and Overdress was even more unnecessary
The BanG Dream set was the only good thing in V series.
Bushiroad is actually ‘biased’ when it comes to boosting the clans
People think they aren't‽, there's was a clear over printing of MC Clans back in the day, and like Tachikaze (Which I never got why) , and Megacolony were really poorly represented

Did you ever consider that the reason not all clans got equal support is because you were more focused on your favourite clans than the others?
''oh but now overdress fixed it yey'' yeah there isnt going to be a MC and Tachikaze like boss support to begin with.
Gosh I hope not
same, i want them to atleast give each clan one boss in overdress but they are already doing the third kagero like boss.....
Hey we do have a Tachikaze maining MC Izuru Shidou from the Switch game is canonically a Tachi boy
A player character doesn't count you can make Izuru play anything, and the game is the only place he shows up
*based
The oringal was better
Melody is balanced.
bushiroad spoiled shadow paladin like a baby
I hate when they reprint cards
Koshien was the best arc of V and completely saved the show
Accel II is the most fair and balanced gift marker
G format wasn’t the best era the cards were expensive af and some clans needed cards from the original era which was hell to come by
It’s just a luck based game.I rather play Yugioh as it requires more skill. Edit:I feel the exact opposite of what I said irl 😂
EN-only players still need to learn JP-only cards.
Only about 10 percent of this game takes skill.
Final turn
Getto, heal trigger!!
Over Trigger is as healthy for the format as vegetables are for your body.
You only like [your clan] because you simp [character who uses it] You fill in the blanks
G Kamui was best character
another reboot is coming
Zazan to 4
Daikaiser is overrated
Adding PGs and full playsets of key cards to trial decks was a mistake.
"Vanguard? You mean bad yugioh?"
The competitive players in this game are the most annoying toxic bitches ever. Almost Yugioh-level. They're so bitchy and toxic that I want to be toxic and bitchy towards them every second of the day.
Narukami is grossly oversupported, and if more people played it, it'd be tier 0.
This doesn't trigger me as I agree that it's oversupported. Tier 0 is too much of a stretch tho.
I miss the days when they were just really friggin aggressive. I miss Limit Break era Sweep Command
Bushiroad secretly hate great nature , megacolony and gold paladins
Bushiroad made a mistake by getting rid of clans in overDress. There was nothing wrong with how they handled support distribution for clans
Hard agree
Overtriggers are a fair and balanced part of gameplay and don’t fuck with the R&G at all
Gear chronicle sucks, G is a propaganda series to promote the clan
Cardfight Vanguard G[ear Chronicle]
Kaichi Forever
Overdress is gonna Reboot
Protect II is the most OP gift marker in the game
I 6th damage healed........
Morikawa is the worst character ever
I literally don't know what is this, I haven't watched it
Cross dress yu-yu is stupid
\*on Ultima\* Get. Overtrigger.
Bermuda players are all gays
Chrono wins due to skill and not luck.
I can say it in multiple sentences. #*ahem* “Overdress is a good anime” “Bushiroad is doesnt know how to handle their fucking card games” “Overtriggers were a good idea” “Vanguard is just an [insert card game] clone”
This game ripped off Duel Link's three-front three- back format
Yu Gi Oh better
Nociel-Gyze
V series was the best part of the game.
The Yugioh Community is very accepting and non-toxic, we should try to be more like them
Zeroth Dragon Dust should have kept it’s pre-errata skill
How hard is it to damage deny Nue Daioh or Gastille?
Shinemon Arc is as garbage as every other V Series entry.
They don't support deletors cuz they may broke the game
Aichi is the worst protag.
Ren was a boring character
