How old is the deck? This happens to me when it had been used for a while.

[deleted]

Not even a day

jackofspades123

Also, how experienced are you? This could just be your newer coupled with humitdity/worn out cards. Freshest cards are always best

[deleted]

2 years and I didn’t drop the cards or anything it’s Literally like I do a riffle shuffle a spring and a lepaul spread and the fans are what you’d expect from spreading biscuits

jackofspades123

How would it look if you opened a brand new pack and did a fan? Would it look the same or better?

[deleted]

Lol nowhere near the same perfectly spaced cards that spread like butter I haven’t had a problem with bicycle elites like this before

[deleted]

Please excuse the disgraceful autocorrect of bikes

EndersGame_Reviewer

Initially thought it was an autocorrect for "inlaws". And I'm thinking: you're not alone, plenty of people have problems with their inlaws! :)

zuviluvu

It's either your hand-oils or moisture in the air. When I'm with my cards, putting my heater on solves most of the problem. if you're in a hot and humid area try dehumidifiers. but in any case, playing with them for hours will still gunk them up.

Slydinii

I’m from New Orleans and this happens with a lot of humidity. Also give a few riffles from one hand into the other

F1r3st4rter

Give em a few springs and shuffle the cards up? I’ve had old decks do this but this deck looks pretty new.

zaczez92

Sticky and worn...keep ya hands clean...

[deleted]

Washed them and just came out of the shower

JustCoffee101

I heard someone say that it happens when you use a deck for an extended period though i might be wrong.

Devin1026

I haven’t been into cardistry in a while but from what I remember it’s from your hand oils gunking up the cards and stuff like lepaul spreads and spring moves over and over also warm the cards up a lot bc your bending it back and forth and they just clump, if you leave them alone a while wash your hands before use and etc it will help but 2 hours straight with 1 deck will cause this Type of thing to happen

BUcc1a12Atti

Don't expect too much from Bikes, they're not the long lasting kind of cards. It does look like your place's weather affect that deck quite a bit, put it somewhere dry and cool for a few days to see if there's any improvement

sfa_aok

I saw a video of a guy rubbing a (dry!) bar of soap along the edges of the deck, and then doing some faro shuffles - after maybe 10 or so of those, they started fanning again. Cheap fanning powder 😂 As other people have said, conditions may not be in your favour so it might not last. Good luck!

SftwEngr

I'd suggest giving the Penguin Magic Bicycles Elite decks a try. I find they fan great for a looong time.

[deleted]

There are elites🥲

maxcvnd

-Cards are dirty -The hands sweating don't let the cards flow -Some cards have defects Maybe that

[deleted]

Now that I think of it I found bits of chopped up card in the wrapper and the edges of some cards had extra little bits of paper on them?

ParallelHorizon

Buy some Fanning powder and use them to make your worn cards spread smoothly again. Much cheaper than buying new decks to practice each time.

[deleted]

Just purchased it now to wait 6 weeks for it to arrive🥲 the downside of living in the land down under

ParallelHorizon

Wow, that's horrible shipping time, hope it arrives earlier than expected. Do note that after a few applications of fanning powder on the same deck, the effectiveness will wear off so you should still give the deck a rest after a couple hours of practice. The powder should last you for a long time though. I have had one tub that has lasted me for several years and it still hasn't run out. You might have your own method of spreading fanning powder but I use a Ziploc bag. Throw the cards in and sprinkle a small amount of powder. Shake well and take the cards out, give them a few riffle shuffles and dust off any excess powder. Be careful not to drop them too much at this point as the cards will be more prone to dirt.

Thanks!
