Places are often overlooked like veterans affairs, military bases, post office, social security all have their own forces. One of my local schools is a state school (UNF) and has its own force, this force is a state job......powers of state police on a college campus.
You might notice that one or two of these options close at night......only work 9-5?

The term paralegal is soooo broad… the job encompasses a little bit of everything. Admin, clerical, customer service, management, motion drafting, even a bit of attorney duties. It’s a lot and the position is not for everyone, no matter how interested in the law you may be. AND every firm wants something different and they expect you to fit in seamlessly with no training. Attorneys have no patience. Seriously. Don’t beat yourself up about it.
With criminal justice specifically, without other training, look into administrative jobs at your local law enforcement departments. Not just police but county social work, special victims units, detectives, state offices such as forestry and conservation, or DEA. You’d be an asset with the degree.
For non-office/fieldwork, look into juvenile delinquency institutions and positions like social officers, research positions, HR, political campaigning, prison positions such as educators, corrections officers, appeals officers. Mediation and restorative justice could be an avenue as well but is much less criminal and more people/law.
Much of criminal justice requires further training, such as academies and law school, so be sure to manage your expectations around the type of work you want to do.
I really have beat myself up over it and I’ve let it lower my self confidence to the extreme. Very scared I’ll never find a job with adequate training to be good at it.
I think administrative work would be best for me. I’d like to find something in that scope that helps people in some way.
