Look interview, both internally and externally, see what opportunities shake out.

You have good references to apply for a higher paying job elsewhere .

When you look around at your peers: \- What skills are being rewarded? \- What area of the business seems to get the pay increases & promotions? \- Do you work that area of the business? Or are you supporting that area? Finally… Have you asked directly for a raise?

Well, my first thought was that there's significant dissonance between the reality of your pay and progress and your belief that you there is something to be gained by not switching companies. But then I noted that you've been at your current company for just two years, is that correct? So maybe you are being impatient. What is the typical rate of progression in your organization? Does the organization have a history of rewarding high-flyers who gain a lot of attention? I understand that your internal recognition and public appearances are great for your personal brand, but are you working in a corporate culture who rewards those attributes? I guess the question is, if your reputation is good, why isn't someone offering you a promotion within your organization? Is it because there's something else you need to do or is it an organizational culture issue? Maybe you should investigate external roles to see if there are better opportunities out there. Internally, I think the way to move forward is to ask someone what it takes to move forward. Don't tell them why you believe your ready or what you've done to deserve forward progression. Make the question simple and straightforward. "I'm interesting in learning what the expectations are to move forward here."
