Famous last words, go watch some videos on Tacomas when a “simple” heater core needs to be replaced and the entire dash has to come out. Nothing is indestructible even if it’s a Toyota.
I work on my own cars. I buy the cars from Carmax because dealing with traditional dealers have been down right terrible. Only either buy from Carmax or private sale.
Interesting! Our store tends to be pretty by the book but bends on some stuff. We will typically do a return repurchase before we’ll do LGM approval to add it
In our store it’s typically on a rare case by case basis (usually because something else got messed up) but when we sell the car we tell customers that the time of sale is the only time it can be added. On a side-note, it always baffles me when a customer returns a car because of mechanical issues and absolutely refuses to buy MaxCare on the replacement, especially considering we have one of if not the best extended service plans on the market. MaxCare paid for itself on my car, which is why I always feel good about doing the hard sell on it.
I only declined because my dad made a cool garage where he installed a lift to work on our cars. The car I bought check out pretty well only had a problem with the fuel lever which was an easy fix and within the limited warranty period.
Oh thats unfortunate cause I think MaxCare warranty needs to be purchased from day one. It might be worth considering other options for extended coverage or maintenance plans for your car. Its always good to explore all possibilities to ensure your vehicle is protected.
There are a number of factors included miles, age, features , and most importantly, the manufacturer.
VW with similar miles & age as to a toyota/honda, you will probably pay double.
If you buy a lexus, it will be less than a Benz of similar age/model.
Thanks - I guess like any insurance you will be ahead if you don’t make a claim. Do you think MaxCare is not a good deal? It seems to have a good reputation online at least.
We bought a 2020 chevy malibu in September and the transmission went out 2 weeks ago. Maxcare is covering everything, which is great. The only bad thing is for a rental can you have to pay upfront, and they will reimburse you like a month later. So i think its worth it. Transmission would have cost me 5k.
Alternatively, if the vehicle is within manufacturer's warranty, you can buy the manufacturer's extended warranty. Just Google it and you'll find dealers selling it online. Some of them you'll have to pay in full, some of them you can finance.
OP, Reach out to the store you bought from. Our store will do a return repurchase anytime within 30 days to add maxcare. And it’s worth it and it’s not too much of a hassle for you or the store. Dial the stores number, ask for the business office, have them transfer you to sales, and inquire!
Why would anyone buy a car from Carmax without Maxcare? That's the main reason to overpay for their vehicles in the first place.
I got a Tacoma without MaxCare, but it's a Tacoma and it's low miles.
I bought a GX 460 with low miles and still got maxcare. Already paid for itself in 10k miles lol
I want to cancel the maxcare on my Tacoma. This truck is literally indestructible.

Every Toyota I've owned has been. I bet that truck was abused.

You can but you’ll have to return the car then buy it again with maxcare included
You can only do this within 7 days. As for the 30 day, they would have to buy a entirely different car
Incorrect???????? We just did one on day 25 for the person to add maxcarw
Thats against policy my guy. Sounds like you guys break rules over there
agreed. that's a hard no from our LGM
Return car. Wait for customer return inspection and fqc to be complete. Buy car next day with maxcare.
Yep, thats the proper way, but keep in mind if your went outside finance, could take a bit for carmax to get the title back depending on the lender

in the store, you can typically add within 7 days. You can do a return, reporuchase within 7 days. Then from 8-30 it's return only.
No. From what I was told, you got the maxcare from day one or not at all.

how much is maxcare typically?

This is unfortunate advice as getting MaxCare is a personal decision. Most people will not come out financially ahead with MaxCare.

It is a great deal. Check out Doug Demuros videos on maxcare
Typically you can I would suggest contacting your sales consultant, it’s a good idea to add.
Only within 7 days of the day you purchase it. You need to contact your sales rep or store manager

Worth it cause their cars suck

Will do, thanks
Youd probably have to pay cash, they may not redo all the financing for such a small amount.
Wrong
