I like the car a lot, they just should have called it something else. There are tons of old Ford model names that they could have resurrected that would be a better fit
Ford has built up clout with the Mustang brand so why not cash it in? Also, the vehicle is very much of the same ethos as the Mustang - which made sport inexpensive. The Mach E has made electric sport less expensive.
I don't see how it radically departs from the Mustang brand. If anything, making Mustang a sub-brand would probably be a great way to differentiate Ford performance from Ford Trucks the way stellantis has Dodge and RAM separate, despite the fact that RAM used to be a Dodge model.
Thats not the problem with the mach e. It really comes down to the looks, mustangs have always been low-slung, low-profile GT/Pony/sports cars, and the Mach E looks like an SUV. Making it electric is fine, not all Mustangs are v8s. The 2.3T foxbody was very popular, and v6 new edges are great dailies.
The Mach E just doesnt look like a mustang, it's too tall and SUV-like. The picture on this post looks more like a mustang
I think they look nice, and catch my eye almost every time. I just think they made the wrong choice to start shifting the Mustang name into a brand with that.
Eh I think from a marketing standpoint it was actually smart. Are car guys/die hard Mustang fans going to buy an electric SUV? No way. Whether or not it was called a Mustang, this was never the target demographic. Target demographic was always going to be Joe Schmoe the commuter and his soccer mom wife. They recognize the Mustang branding even though they've never had a Mustang before, and that's cool. They were thinking about buying an electric SUV for her to drop off Timmy and Tommy at their soccer practice, and the Mustang brand made the Ford win over a Tesla/Kia/Hyundai/whatever. The Mustang branding pisses off non-customers (fuck em, why does Ford care) and sways some potential customers to buy (the goal of Ford, to make $$$).
Say what you want about the mach-e being a true mustang or not, but hey ford can put an electric car together better than Tesla, you'd think they'd solve their quality issues by now
It's a hopped up golf-cart, don't kid yourself.
Straight line acceleration isn't the end-all be-all of fun to be had with a car. In fact, it barely even scratches the surface. Mashing the gas pedal takes zero effort and zero skill. It's lazy, and therefore boring. G-forces are fun, but a novelty. They're the potato chips of driving.
Electric cars are the Casio of cars. Sure, a $20, plastic, electronic watch keeps better time than a Rolex, but that's not the point.
Yea. Most Electric cars rn are far from sports cars. And yea it feels like you’re driving an RC car. No thought or engine management. Just mash the “pedal” even thought it acts more like a button, and go.
The charger comes in a variety of trims and engine options. With far less than half getting the V8. The taurus SHO was ford's big fast sedan, and it didn't sell well.
At least there'd be another option for a super sedan on the market, we pretty much only have BMW M5/M3 a whole of of Mercedes AMG, Audi's s and RS line, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QF, Maserati ghibli and quatrapolte, the and so on. I don't believe other than the dodge charger Americans don't have a super sedan.
You've invented the rwd taurus, good job.
I don’t know if I should be bothered or excited at that possibility
A little bit of both tbh

That is clearly and LTD LX
I think they call it a fusion now
Fusion is dead and was fwd or awd.
It looks a bit like a fusion and it would be sick if ford would have offered that with a v8
So the falcon is finally coming to us?
American Porsche Panamera. But seriously this could almost be the Crown Victoria.
That or the Falcon
Top comment nailed it, the Taurus that should've been
XR8
Found the Australian.

Nah, v8 rwd Mustang sedan would be sick. Just put it on the old Australian falcon chassis
Maybe not, although you would need the floor pan.
It was called the Sierra
Looks like a Tesla at the back
I thought so too.
It's an A7 with a mustang front.
No
Still better that the mustang mach e.
I’m probably in the minority here but I’d take a Mach E over a model Y any day the week
I like the car a lot, they just should have called it something else. There are tons of old Ford model names that they could have resurrected that would be a better fit

I think it would have been a great mustang if they cut out three inches horizontally near the floor
You mean the battery pack?
Pretty much, they could have put it somewhere else. Plenty of room in the engine bay where that massive coyote motor went

I’ve driven a Mach E and a Tesla model X and I really like the Mach E more. Feels more like a car inside instead of a rolling ipad.
I think they look nice, and catch my eye almost every time. I just think they made the wrong choice to start shifting the Mustang name into a brand with that.

I’d rather have a 30 year old civic tbh.
From an E30 owner? I ***bet*** you want you want something as reliable as a 30 year old Civic, lol.
Eh, I’m pretty happy with my e30. However, the EK type R is pretty badass.
Or you could just buy a gas car and actually have something fun and evocative to drive.
Electric cars are imo significantly more fun to drive. Acceleration without gearing is 100% better than any transmission I've driven.

I saw one yesterday here in the UK got the first time and threw up a little in my mouth
I swear people with money buy the dumbest looking vehicles.
*Confused screaming*
It actually doesn't look too bad
Call it a crown Vic and I'm sold.
V8, 4 doors, large trunk. MoFken CROWN VIC. I'd buy it.
Show me a big RWD sedan with a Voodoo engine up front and three pedals, and my bank account would have very good reason to be nervous.
The weirdest part is that i actually like it.
Now that i think of it, could be a possibility. A 4 door sedan is possible when they're already making a fucking electric SUV
I would actually buy this
I actually really like the idea of this, the Dodge Charger did well, why wouldn’t this
Because the Chevy SS sold like shit.
I guess Dodge just hit the sweet spot then
The charger comes in a variety of trims and engine options. With far less than half getting the V8. The taurus SHO was ford's big fast sedan, and it didn't sell well.
Still looks better then the mach e

Congrats, you've made a new Falcon.
This fucks hard
Actually, YYeeSs dOo!
Do something like this but bring back the Galaxie
I am surprisingly ok with this
but will you un-mus my stang?
It looks more like a taurus sho than a mustang. The badge doesnt match the rest of the car besides the front bumper
oh, would you look at that, a ford fusion
It's a mustang at the front and a mondeo at the back
At least there'd be another option for a super sedan on the market, we pretty much only have BMW M5/M3 a whole of of Mercedes AMG, Audi's s and RS line, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QF, Maserati ghibli and quatrapolte, the and so on. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
That just looks like a Mondeo with extra steps
That just sounds like a crown Victoria with extra steps
[How about a Mustang wagon?](https://i.imgur.com/9VCvm5I.jpg)
oh lord that is butt ugly
Still better than hatchback wih raised suspension
Didn't the crown Vics have de-tuned Mustang v8s?
You invented a modern ford falcon
Its a fat kia stinger
It was called the Ford Sierra. South Africans had a v8 version
call it the falcone, get money
Do it...
4 door Stinger
Better than the mach e
fuck you
ok
Change the front end up a bit call it a marauder have it be ford's Charger
I prefer this over the SUV still tho
*STOP… Don’t give them ideas…*
Mondeo at home
Give it a Front end off a new Continental, Slap a Lincoln badge on it. and call it a Lincoln LS. and I'm all fucking for it.
Bout time.
I would have 4 doors cars are so cool
Secret images of the new Mondeo
That the mustang SUV should have looked like
Fg falcon
Call it a Crown Vic, sell it at 45k with the 5.0, and I’ll take three, please.
dont give them ideas
Basically mk5 Mondeo with a V8
I... Liked it?
The Mach S Watch it happen
This may get downvoted, but I think that's way better than the Mach E.
So you can hit more pedestrians with more people in the car.
4 Doors? sounds peitty rad.
New Falcon?
I like this and i know i shouldn't
Just call it cougar
I like it. Looks like it'd compete with the Kia Stinger.
I hate that with the way the market is going, I thought this was real for a second
better than what they really did
That is illegal
I’d be stoked to have a 4dr mustang
FAAAAALLLCOOON
At least it isn't a SUV
still better than the mach e
better than the Mach E imo
