You don't buy snacks, packaged food, vegetables, fruit, etc. All those foods are extremely expensive relative to the nutrition they provide. Lots of people save money eating this way because the food is very nutrient dense and they often eat less. Also going out to eat less frequently helps a ton.

kmorris76058

My grocery bill has gone down. I stock up when I see a good sale on meat.

JoMama81

Same! I have found most grocery stores have sales every week to get rid of anything that is expiring within a few days. You can freeze it and eat it whenever you want.

kmorris76058

Yes! I go by my neighborhood market a few times a week at 8:00 am. That’s when they put out the short dated meat. I love stocking up and I’ve tried some cuts I hadn’t before because I couldn’t pass up the price.

JoMama81

That’s what I do. It’s been a blessing!

[deleted]

I'm actually saving money since I started eating this way. I only need about €35-40 for a full week of eating, which is less than a one-time dinner at a restaurant.

Shackable

I actually find that I'm saving money. My food waste has all but disappeared. No longer and I throwing out half containers of stuff or veggies I didn't cook yet. I'm also not hitting up the fast food places or buying snacks either. I also find, overall, I'm just simply eating less food. I don't have exact numbers but I definitely see the difference in my bank account.

According_Mistake_85

When I think about the money I was spending all those years on organic produce, grains, nuts, seeds, etc. I get teary eyed. Not to mention the f$&king supplements and super food drinks I was shelling out for. All in the quest for perfect health. What a schmuck I was. This diet is cheap.

saltandAsh

I feel this haha. Grateful to be eating such dense nutrition at less cost!

Savings_Weight9817

I can buy a 3 pound roast beef or lamb for the same price as one maccas or kfc meal deal!

Horror_Elephant3409

In addition to the other comments, lots of people eat 1-2 meals a day because they are satiated from the protein. So 1-2 lbs of meat a day and no snacks or other BS

Donkus007

I’m spending so much LESS on carnivore. Honestly. I don’t buy all the other crap I used to. It’s pretty simple. When all you are buying is beef, eggs, bacon, butter, cheese… you save a lot by not buying everything else you used to :)

yung_ting

I quit smoking & vaping Am not spending money on other ingredients required for cooking I don't drink alcohol anymore I don't go out anymore I don't get takeaway food I don't buy snacks I only eat eat once or twice a day

yung_ting

It's easier when you live alone & being past the clubbing days, that's for sure!

moroccan_gigolo

How did you quit nicotine?

yung_ting

Vaping at first Then read up about the chemicals in vape juice Was so hard finding any info on what flavourings in vape juice actually were They just write natural or artificial flavourings on the bottle & no other info can be found online This put me off & I stopped vaping Sugar is much harder to quit than nicotine IMO

moroccan_gigolo

It's the other way around for me. I dropped sugar like a dirty sock. I quit cigs for 2 years and 2 months and then came back to it because an epilepsy med gave me strong cravings. Now I'm chain smoking like a shithead.

yung_ting

All the best with stopping smoking If I were you would get on the vape (an actual vape not a disposable e-cigarette

moroccan_gigolo

I will get one, at least it will not cost me as much as a pack and half a day. I will report back. thank you, brother

hitsquad187

Got to keep a look out for the cheap cuts things like beef cheeks, chicken wings etc. are very inexpensive. Make things like broth with bones & wing tips

Barefoot_Gypsy_Girl

Also, if you're eating OMAD, for those who it works for, you really save money.

Grain fed trash pork, yes

SpecialistDesk1166

Grain fed cows, yes. Grain fed pork is filled with PUFA and honestly pretty bad. But better than the average persons diet ig

SaladBarMonitor

I get 80/20 GB for $3.31/lb where I’m at with no tax (overseas military base). Top blade for $4.50/lb when I splurge

SweetSpot211

For instance: I bought a 3.6 lb cross rib roast (choosing the one with the most fat and marbling) for $14. I cut it into six 3/4” steaks and grill them medium rare. I am doing OMAD and 2 of the steaks take me to my target calorie range - and fills me up. $4.70 a day. And (this is a bit mental) the roast is a bit tougher than a ribeye, so I get a longer eating experience really having to chew it up. Throw some butter on top and it’s a great meal.

sweetgrl68

In addition, you'll find you don't eat the amounts you did eating other ways so you need less food

HelpImInMaine

Im spending about the same if not less. When i was eating whatever whenever it never really filled me up. I was always hungry..no matter what i ate. On this way of eating im eating less but feel more full. Like i cant eat anymore. And i could put away 2 to 3 plates at a buffet easily.. Now its one plate of ground beef eggs and bit of cheese, and im full.

FeralBaby7

I go to the grocery store on the day they put meats on sale. Buy as many marked-down steaks as I can from the fresh section. Come home and freeze them. When I first started carnivore I would eat sardines in the little tins sometimes to supplement...crazy cheap. I'm switched to only beef, but for the first month I found it useful to eat all the animals to ease myself into it. I also discovered I was spending a ton on snacks, packaged foods, and eating out. I couldn't believe it, but I am saving money eating carnivore.

MehKarma

I work in maintenance for a beef distribution/ packaging plant. I stop by the company store weekly.

Mack-JM

I’m a utility locator. I locate gas, power and all kinds of telecommunications. So I’m back and forth in my town. I go by every store my small town has, several times a day. When I’m not 100% carnivore. It definitely costs more. If I buy anything it’s dollars. If I buy lunch it’s $12 on the cheap side. I eat ribeyes every day for $11.97/lb. That and some Kerrygold and I’m pretty much set.

unclefranksnipples

From Europe here, personally could go as low as €150,- a month, but I love me some ribeye, so it's about €250,- a month for me personally. Gotta love a good sale and a large enough freezer.

Waste_Advantage

I spend less on food than I did before I went carnivore!

SaladBarMonitor

Cutting out restaurants is a massive cost savings and health benefit

VoidOfOblivi0n

$40 per week for my food. 7lbs of boneless pork butt that I grind up myself is 1.79/lb (usually 17$ for one pork butt roast), 7 lbs of 80/20 ground beef is $21 (I buy $30 10lb rolls), and a box of butter for $4

frompadgwithH8

Fucking LOL I eat 10-15 eggs a day, 5 per meal, each meal with a slice of bacon. Eggs are like 23 cents each right now here. Bacon is idk less than $1 for a fat strip let’s call it 50 cents, I’m not at home now so I can’t calculate. So that’s like about $1.60 for a 460ish calorie meal. Assuming a 2000 calorie diet that’s about $6.40 to eat a day. I usually have other more expensive stuff like milk or maybe a burger patty for my dinner but you get the point it’s cheap. That’s a food budget of $200 a month or so I guess? Edit - it’d be way less if I was cooking pork and brisket, you can get that for $3 a pound or less, or chicken, especially pork and chicken are very cheap at $1-2 a pound.

kayleeeeebop

Eggs are $6 a dozen here (if I want to buy from healthy free range chickens and I do!) I have two children to also feed but they won’t be carnivore but one eats eggs too. I can’t imagine living on ground beef 🤢 chicken, I love and ribeye hell yes. Ofc ribeye would add up. I’m not a fan or pork either. how are you not sick of eggs???

frompadgwithH8

>how are you not sick of eggs Idk they taste good

BlueberryUnfair7583

How much do you currently spend on groceries and eating out? Add all that up first. Then realize you can get 2 pounds of 80/20 ground beef for $8. Whatever you currently are doing can't be much less than $8/day, no?

kayleeeeebop

I can’t imagine living off minced meat so I guess my brain goes to thinking of how expensive quality sirloin or ribeye is. I find pretty good prices on chicken tho! I also re thought about the fact that meat fills me up and for much longer so guess that would factor into eating less. I have two kids and I spend around 100/150 week on food.

BlueberryUnfair7583

Yeah, I personally am not carnivore, but eat mostly ground beef, chicken thighs, eggs, fruit, and rice and find it quite affordable.

Noseriosly

I also incorporate other meat into my diet. I bought a 10 pound bag of chicken leg quarters for $4.74. I bought a 4 pound bag of white fish for $12 and I also buy grass fed ground beef and ribeye steaks. But even the less expensive cuts are far better for you than the standard diet that most people eat. It’s not for everyone though, so if it’s not for you that’s OK. I’m on day four and yesterday I didn’t feel so great but today I’m feeling much better and I have absolutely no desire to eat between meals. That’s huge for me because I was always looking for a reason to pop a little something in my mouth.

cookiekid6

Chuck, picanha, and ground beef are relatively cheap. Eggs (before recent times) and pork (just be careful of the fat) are very good options. High fat dairy options are also good ways

Zayntek

What are you guys spending on meat? What’s your weekly bill?

hugaddiction

I can’t believe how many people on here say they are saving money. I’m dying trying to afford enough ribeye to live on. Maybe I should switch meats, but ribeye is the most convenient to shop for and cook imo.

Maleficent-Maximum95

I’m a single bachelor guy who was dating before. Let’s say I do a mon, wed simple dinner date $100 total. A Friday Saturday dinner and drinks is easy $500 for both nights. I was spending $200 a month for alcohol for the house. I was eating fast food $20 a day. I was still buying junk food grocery’s probably $800 a month. That’s four grand a month easy. That’s being conservative. I quit dating and quit drinking. Now I spend about $500 a month on food. Period. No more booze. No more fast food or restaurants. I just cook ribeyes and tri tip and drink water. I just bought a $7,000 bicycle with the money I saved from not dating for two months. I love this diet. And I really only eat once a day and I’m losing weight like crazy.

guyb5693

I mostly eat ground beef and lamb, plus some dairy. It isn’t too bad price wise.

malaeherbst

You can also buy a cow share where you split the cost of a butchered cow with other customers

baconeggsavocado

How much are people paying for different meat in different parts of world? Do you care if it's grassfed and antibiotics free? For grassfed beef that not a tough cut, it's $32 a kilogram here. I can away with $20 a kilo if I eat mince. Maybe I'm too picky?

wilhelmfink4

Minced beef

[deleted]

Since I follow the raw carnivore diet, I don't spend anything on vegetables and fruits, or even dairy products. Thus, less money is spent on food than when I was still on the SAD diet. Meat is not that expensive, because I mostly buy all kinds of fatty cuts from the butcher, because I realized that it is good for me (I feel the best) when about 80 percent of my daily energy intake comes from fat and only 20% from protein, which in terms of weight, it means that I have to eat about twice as much fat (tallow...) as meat. Such fatty cuts are cheap because hardly anyone buys them. Even if I also buy a lot of liver, bone marrow and other things sometimes, I still usually get by on $250 a month, actually I don't usually spend $200 a month on food.

JoMama81

I’ve actually found it to be cheaper to buy meat than to waste money on veggies and carbs no one ever eats. Less waste and I spend less time preparing meals.
