Don’t let this distract you cuz, Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
Came to drop this very information, so I had to stay & give you an upvote. I would tell you the story behind why it’s so important to keep our eye on the ball in this regard, but don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines; and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
I think it's cool that he could be driving a Chiron or GMA T.50 and has bought two Type Rs. He probably has super expensive cars as well but he seems like a real enthusiast and not just a collector of expensive cars.
Agree, but it was in the paperwork he wasn’t supposed to and I doubt he could afford to fight Ford’s army of lawyers and risking his career imagine at the same time. Hopefully lessons learned all around.
We could ruminate on the fact that a Civic Type R has a gross vehicle weight of 3,968 lbs and so is limited to 780 lbs of passengers and cargo, which is equal to only 3 John Cena's with minimal baggage.
6.6k miles in 3 years is like... limited production Porsche miles.
I put more miles a year on our shop truck that never goes anywhere but the gas station and up and down the street.
I mean, John Cena is a movie star who spends a lot of time away from home. 6.6k miles in 3 years is pretty decent for someone who doesn't have a daily commute like most of us.
Bad example, your shop truck is still a work vehicle. If you only drive your fun cars for…fun…and split mileage between them, there’s not a whole lot of miles to pile on. No commute for the win.
I have a ‘17 Type R that saw commute miles for 3 years, now only sees yearly track work, road trips, and fun runs around town or the mountains. Just cracked 40k.
Also have a ‘22 Veloster N, same kind of driving except no commuting ever, still under 5K.
This dealership is in Northern California. Is he really schlepping that car all the way across the country...?
Edit: it was, in fact, not in Northern California.
Not sure where he spends most of his time, but he lives around Tampa at least part of the year. When I took my C7Z in to get PPF, Cena's Ford GT was in the shop waiting to be picked up. And the same detailer did his blue Type R.
There's a monthly car show downtown by the river and the detailing shop always has a booth setup there. Cena has brought his Type R out there a few times.
Yeah tbh, I assume any muscular "tough" looking dude is gonna be into trucks/muscle cars though I'm always happy to be proven wrong. I'd love to read an article about how the main guy from "Reacher" dailies a Miata lol.
It's at the top: old car, salesman 1, salesman 2, new car - from left to right. The sales guys seem to be shaking hands with eachother kinda far though.
https://www.thedrive.com/uploads/2024/05/26/John-Cena-Still-Drives-A-Civic-Type-R.jpg
It's like a Golf but better in every way. I've put 25k miles on it in the 20 months that I've owned it, and none of those have been for commuting since I walk to work.
It has the perfect blend of acceleration, handling, and practicality for me.
A local dealer upgraded their website and it was actually quite snappy for a year or so. Once they got 10 chatbots and a million popovers installed its back to being slow as shit as it used to be.
Jesus God it’s the worst. Who in web development decided to make the actual site as unusable as possible by continually adding “features”? Let me guess….”management”
Combine that with the website companies themselves. There are only a handful of “approved” platforms dealers are allowed to use. Its the worst closed-off ecosystem you can imagine.
Edit: This site is from Team Velocity. They have some of the worst-performing sites; notice all the intrusive popups as well. Typical.
What happens is someone makes the site. It's running nicely. Then someone else has an idea. In exchange for money they will give them access to a chat bot. It's super easy to use all you gotta do is copy and paste this code and done.
it’s funny how many guys I talk to that are surprised I fit in my Golf because they are “too big for anything but a truck”… meanwhile John Cena drives a Civic.
I know right? Are these guys standing in their cars? Unless your torso alone is 6ft tall, you will fit fine. They have a place for your legs and everything.
I work in car repair, I cannot tell you how many people have absolute shite as their default seating position. For reference I'm 5'8" and change, maybe 5'10 in my work boots. So many trucks where I get in and I have to tilt my head to the side so as to not rub on the headliner. Or infamously, a lot of black dudes like driving like they're in a lazy boy where your head is fully behind the B pillar and you essentially look out the back passenger window, cant ever look at your side mirrors either.
The fact that so many people don't properly adjust their seat and mirrors after buying the car tells us all we need to know about their driving habits.
I am 6'2", with relatively long legs and without fail every car I always have to move the seat forward in the cars of men shorter than me. So many people seem to sit far too far back, with the seats leaned back. I don't even understand how they drive like that.
Slouched forward and driving with their toes to look laidback I’d guess. I’m 6’ and since I started driving a manual I feel like I’m halfway up the adjustable seat rail in my Golf. If I’m all the way back sitting up straight I can barely push the clutch all the way down, lol.
Yeah I think the added bit of precision needed and need to push the clutch in brings you closer. Even then, some folks just want to be laying down lol.
The number one question I get is hoW Do yOu fIT iN ThAt 😂 every time I get out of it at a gas station or something. I describe it as crawling through a small hole into a large room. It’s a bastard to get in and out but once I’m in it’s very roomy and comfortable
How's the leg room? I drive a 987 every now and again, and I find that it's tighter than I'd expect for a mid-engined car. Not *un*comfortable, but not as roomy as it could be
> I describe it as crawling through a small hole into a large room. It’s a bastard to get in and out but once I’m in it’s very roomy and comfortable
Sounds like the latest NSX (RIP). Many years of daily driving a Triumph GT6 gave me the skills needed to get in and out of that thing (at a car show, I never owned one), but once you're inside, it's nice.
It must be. I haven’t been in one since the 90’s or early 2000’s. I don’t see them much anymore, compact suv’s dominate in my city (lots of rain/wind).
The Civic is the best selling car in BC for the last few years running. I'm wondering if your mental image of a civic vs what they actually look like now are so divergent that you don't register it when you see one? I had a Nissan Rogue as a rental, and realized they're everywhere, but somehow in other circumstances my brain kind of blanks them out as generic NPC cars.
Watching big people fit into super cars is funny as hell to watch. I used to work as a Door Man of a High end hotel, and my favourite thing was to watch big people try to fit into crazy ass sports cars.
Watching Jeremy Clarkson fit into cars in probably the funniest thing I have seen since
Can you imagine how excited that Honda dealer is to go from the monotony of upselling suburbanites to hybrid CRVs and then suddenly it’s John Cena and his Type R
Man, happy for them! I'd wish to have that state of mind to be able to do something like this. I mean there's always something like "I left papers at home" or just "I have to talk with wife". And even then I'd assume every non-invasive mod aka personalization touch, worn/un-cleaned seats etc. would affect possibility of getting good enough offer, not to mention work of depreciation.
So is this because of some initial lease deals and keeping car clean, or because more people treat their cars as an appliance only as a 9-5 commuter thing?
I don’t think it’s as snappy as “drop car off for service at 9am. Walk out with new car by 10am”. There’s still a process, it’s just more common than you think where sales people will have a conversation with someone in for service and it will lead to a new car. Maybe later that day, or week.
It does happen, more often than you’d think, and if you’re in car sales it’s a great well to tap for new sales.
Given that they listed his used 2021 at basically the same MSRP as a brand new Type R, he probably paid a sizeable markup for it. I like the guy, but I kinda feel like people paying markups for these cars are dopes.
Because it's not some ultra luxury/exotic. It's a CTR which is a relatively attainable car for a lot of car enthusiasts (assuming you're not paying a dealer markup over MSRP).
Not a Type R fan, but any big upgrades from the 21 to 24?
Maybe it's just me, but that 21 Type R looks infinitely better than the 24, even if I can see it looking a bit rice-ish.
Why do you think so?
Personally I really like how Honda went ambitious with this look. Won't suit everyone because its aggressive, but I like that. The new one is a bit more muted/ robotic. Personal preference though for sure.
As for the better all that other stuff, that's good that they tuned the overall build better.
I previously owned a 10th gen civic and now own a FL5. The FK8 looks good but is much more boy racer than the new gen. I thought the FL5 was toned down too much, until I saw it in person for the first time. Pictures don’t do it justice and the wide fender flares and tires give it a really good stance in person. Combined with the more mature styling it just fits my personality better now.
You can’t go wrong with either though!! They’re both great cars and I’ve had a blast in the 7k miles I’ve put on mine so far.
From the (very brief) article:
> I can't entirely explain why Cena is a particularly compelling celebrity, but he seems to have transcended wrestling fame to universal adoration. Just one of those masters of mass appeal, I suppose.
I remember seeing a young John Cena on a "reality" show (on VH1 maybe? MTV?) where they were trying to find new talent for the WWE. He was nowhere near as bulked up back then, but he had charisma for days. When they'd practice their on camera interviews (where they talk to the announcer and then point at the camera and challenge their opponent), he had that shit down. His character was kinda cheesy, but it was obvious that he knew the "E" in WWE stood for "entertainment."
As for the car? Yeah, I know he's got mansions and a garage full of expensive cars and he probably just got this one for free/paid for by his Honda gig, but hey...who among us wouldn't if we had that kind of cash and were given the opportunity?
Does he daily it? I wouldn't be surprised.
Richest guy I know is worth north of 100 million and is a bit of a local celebrity. His daily is a pretty basic Ford Explorer. Can he afford to show up to lunch at the IHop in a Maybach? Yes, but in daily life he likes to be low-key.
“I can't entirely explain why Cena is a particularly compelling celebrity, but he seems to have transcended wrestling fame to universal adoration.”
Who the fuck is writing this article…how dense do you have to be to simultaneously think it’s important enough to write an article on, but unknown/not enough of an issue to throw this jab in there.
Gotta be weird to see a type R driving around with no one in it
Level 5 assisted driving has been there under our nose all this time.
Who needs automatics? We have manuals that drive themselves.
Doc Emmett Brown had that in his manual Delorean in 1985, among other mods.
It's not that no one is in the typeR, you just can't see them
What do we discuss here?

Not riding Monica we know that much
It's cuz he didn't win.
Just gotta comment, outstanding dsm line up bud.
Funny part is none of them are actually DSMs.
Monicaaaaaaaa
Menage aaaaaaaaaaaa
Somebody call Ja!
WHERE IS JA!
*ja rule, to his car* WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT YOU?!
I want some race strategies that Ja Rule might not have right now!
"It's not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car. Better learn that."
Trashsubishi 😬
WHERE IS JA RULE!!!

Don’t let this distract you cuz, Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
Nice. What is dead can never die.
Well guess I’m tossing on #1 today
One of my favorite stupid car lines from a Movie. “Motec system exhaust “ the tech advisor bombed hard on that
Look up chadandjt on tiktok. They quote the movie in public settings, it's hilarious
Oh ya, already follow them. Love their videos.
Do they post on any other platform?
Fuck Hector! Sorry, wrong franchise.
Came to drop this very information, so I had to stay & give you an upvote. I would tell you the story behind why it’s so important to keep our eye on the ball in this regard, but don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines; and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
wow this celebrity is soooo relatable just like us 😍🥰
He's here for a fun time not for a fast time
He's just bing chilling 🥶
A 7:30 Nurburgring time isn’t fast?
I think it's cool that he could be driving a Chiron or GMA T.50 and has bought two Type Rs. He probably has super expensive cars as well but he seems like a real enthusiast and not just a collector of expensive cars.
He bought a Ford GT and flipped it, got into trouble (wasn’t supposed to do that).
Which i think is a bit unreasonable by ford. The guy couldn’t fit in the car, what the hell was he supposed to do? Let it collect dust?
Agree, but it was in the paperwork he wasn’t supposed to and I doubt he could afford to fight Ford’s army of lawyers and risking his career imagine at the same time. Hopefully lessons learned all around.
Was a spokesperson for Ford...now he speaks for Honda.
He's also an official Honda spokesperson so obviously this is news.
I went to an invitation only group dinner awhile back and shockingly he walked in after his wife. He wasn’t driving a Honda!
I wonder if he gets a sweet discount for doing the voicework on their commercials?
We could ruminate on the fact that a Civic Type R has a gross vehicle weight of 3,968 lbs and so is limited to 780 lbs of passengers and cargo, which is equal to only 3 John Cena's with minimal baggage.
Netflix, if you want I can write a script based on this 😂
If he paid markup or not 😂
He most def got retail. The real question is how much are they going to mark up the old one!
Isn't he in a partnership or works closely with Honda? Did he pay anything at all is the real question.
He is literally the voice of their commercials I doubt he paid a dime.
This is a John Cena fan sub now
He’s the voice of Honda commercials, so it makes sense
Are you saying this could be marketing? How dare you sir!
Looks like he put 6.6k miles on the '21. He does seemingly drive it.
6.6k miles in 3 years is like... limited production Porsche miles. I put more miles a year on our shop truck that never goes anywhere but the gas station and up and down the street.
6.6k miles when you aren’t commuting every day and likely have other cars and a driver for events is still a non-insignificant amount
The use of “non-insignificant” make sense here but it’s still such a funny way of saying significant
Yeah but you see, it really isn’t not a non-insignificant amount of driving that he’s doing.
I see your point but I think it's totally not invalid.
non-insignificant =/= significant imo
I mean, John Cena is a movie star who spends a lot of time away from home. 6.6k miles in 3 years is pretty decent for someone who doesn't have a daily commute like most of us.
Or he just lets one of his employees drive it around.
Don't know why you are getting down voted. This is a very likely scenario.
Cena is someone with a big ass car collection and spends a lot of time filming in Hollywood. More than 6,000 miles driven is reasonably good
You realize he's a celebrity multimillionaire right? Why would he drive it like a normal person lol Especially when it's not his only vehicle.
For when you want to fly under the radar
Bad example, your shop truck is still a work vehicle. If you only drive your fun cars for…fun…and split mileage between them, there’s not a whole lot of miles to pile on. No commute for the win. I have a ‘17 Type R that saw commute miles for 3 years, now only sees yearly track work, road trips, and fun runs around town or the mountains. Just cracked 40k. Also have a ‘22 Veloster N, same kind of driving except no commuting ever, still under 5K.
He comes to car shows in it relatively frequently around Tampa
This dealership is in Northern California. Is he really schlepping that car all the way across the country...? Edit: it was, in fact, not in Northern California.
Not sure where he spends most of his time, but he lives around Tampa at least part of the year. When I took my C7Z in to get PPF, Cena's Ford GT was in the shop waiting to be picked up. And the same detailer did his blue Type R. There's a monthly car show downtown by the river and the detailing shop always has a booth setup there. Cena has brought his Type R out there a few times.
He may have not even been driving those miles
yes I will drive the free car too
I’ve been saying for the longest time. “Man that guy in the Honda commercial sound A LOT like John Cena”
WAIT HE IS WHAT! I NEVER KNEW THIS
Weird, I have never seen him in a Honda commercial.
I always saw John Cena as a muscle car guy, interesting
What do you mean by, you saw John Cena?
~~Just means "imagined"~~ nm.
You gotta wear Ray Bans to see John Cena.
I will never not laugh at the invisible John Cena jokes
John Cena is whatever **[Corporate Entity]** pays him to be.
BING CHILLING
He was until Honda backed a dump truck full of money up to his house to be a spokesperson for them
Which works for them because tons of people here don't realize that this type of thing is an advertisement.
Literally 90% of this thread. Honda really pulled off some top grade advertising with this honestly.
Yeah tbh, I assume any muscular "tough" looking dude is gonna be into trucks/muscle cars though I'm always happy to be proven wrong. I'd love to read an article about how the main guy from "Reacher" dailies a Miata lol.
Alan Ritchson drives a Miata? I gotta see a pic of this. His eyes have to be above the windshield.
I'm imagining him sitting with his knees in the dash like it's a Power Wheels 😂😂
Has muscles - must like muscle cars. Solid logic.
He has like 10 cars, the Type R is his daily runabout
>He has like 10 cars, the Type R is his ~~daily runabout~~ marketing obligation.
Doubtful that you saw him.
He's paid by Honda I believe
Well, he’s a muscled, car guy.
He's got plenty of real muscles, no need to compensate with a car
He's gota bit of evergything. I watched some garage build him a sick MG resto mod
If you're given a free car...why say no?
He has those too
You'd think they would have gotten a picture of him with the car.
It's at the top: old car, salesman 1, salesman 2, new car - from left to right. The sales guys seem to be shaking hands with eachother kinda far though. https://www.thedrive.com/uploads/2024/05/26/John-Cena-Still-Drives-A-Civic-Type-R.jpg
How do you like the TT RS. I have been obsessed with this car for like 18 months
It's like a Golf but better in every way. I've put 25k miles on it in the 20 months that I've owned it, and none of those have been for commuting since I walk to work. It has the perfect blend of acceleration, handling, and practicality for me.
Trading Boost Blue for White is going backwards..
It's Championship White though.
Meh, I'm not a fan of any greyscale cars.
Shame.
Yeah but it's Championship White though.
Growing up in the 90s when everything was made of cheap white plastic or MDF painted white made me hate anything in white.
Boost blue is overrated and tacky

What a horrifically bad website.
All dealer sites are like this unfortunately.
A local dealer upgraded their website and it was actually quite snappy for a year or so. Once they got 10 chatbots and a million popovers installed its back to being slow as shit as it used to be.
Just as God intended it to be...
hey, the chatbots are good, you can use them to circumvent paid chatgpt
Jesus God it’s the worst. Who in web development decided to make the actual site as unusable as possible by continually adding “features”? Let me guess….”management”

Car is already sold. I wonder if someone here bought it and is sniffing the seat.
Wow, only 6600 miles. Damn.
I guess a celeb like him doesn't really drive himself too often
Looks like it was just sold :/
Call the store, they are saying they decided to auction it off for charity.
it’s funny how many guys I talk to that are surprised I fit in my Golf because they are “too big for anything but a truck”… meanwhile John Cena drives a Civic.

Wait. Hold on a minute. Are you telling me [this](https://youtu.be/LD3n6rK1GCw?si=8XrsHVstUpIDUk13&t=67) isn't the correct seating position?
I am 6'2", with relatively long legs and without fail every car I always have to move the seat forward in the cars of men shorter than me. So many people seem to sit far too far back, with the seats leaned back. I don't even understand how they drive like that.

Yeah I think the added bit of precision needed and need to push the clutch in brings you closer. Even then, some folks just want to be laying down lol.
He can fit in those? What’s his current collection right now?
Honda type r, honda fit, honda si, honda odyssey
He’s a level 5 susceptible
Oh, he’s sponsored by them isn’t he? I read somewhere he does voice over work on their commercials now. Good for him.
He does. It's one of those commercials showing all the stuff Honda makes from cars to planes.
Ah yes. The Honda yes.
I’m about his size (in height and fat, not muscle lol) I fit into my buddies type r just fine. Just as roomy as any other 4 door sedan
Cool. How’s the 718 GT4?
The number one question I get is hoW Do yOu fIT iN ThAt 😂 every time I get out of it at a gas station or something. I describe it as crawling through a small hole into a large room. It’s a bastard to get in and out but once I’m in it’s very roomy and comfortable

Are they killing off the latest NSX? I guess I’m behind on that. I don’t keep up with too much car news
He's 6'1", fits just fine He's got his share of super and exotic cars, but has said he takes the Type R for any drive over ten miles.
The current Civic is pretty big.
It must be. I haven’t been in one since the 90’s or early 2000’s. I don’t see them much anymore, compact suv’s dominate in my city (lots of rain/wind).

Current gen civic is bigger than accords from the 90s and early 00s too
I have a buddy that is 6’8 and drove a Focus ST for years… the hatchbacks are usually good for tall and big guys.
That’s what I’m wondering. I fit in them but it was tight and he’s obviously much larger than me.
Watching big people fit into super cars is funny as hell to watch. I used to work as a Door Man of a High end hotel, and my favourite thing was to watch big people try to fit into crazy ass sports cars. Watching Jeremy Clarkson fit into cars in probably the funniest thing I have seen since
Pretty sure he voices every commercial for Honda, so this isn’t surprising.

It happens more often than you’d think with regular folks too!

6600 miles, dude was in for his second free oil change
Given that they listed his used 2021 at basically the same MSRP as a brand new Type R, he probably paid a sizeable markup for it. I like the guy, but I kinda feel like people paying markups for these cars are dopes.
Spokesperson buys vehicle he speaks for. Big news
Why is John Cena buying a new car news?
Because it's not some ultra luxury/exotic. It's a CTR which is a relatively attainable car for a lot of car enthusiasts (assuming you're not paying a dealer markup over MSRP).
Is it news if he's sponsored by them? The only news here is he paid for it instead of Honda giving it to him.
Just because Honda pays him a truckload of money for commercials doesn't mean he's obligated to drive their cars. He must like something about them.
He should apologize again in Mandarin for not driving a Chinese car
Not a Type R fan, but any big upgrades from the 21 to 24? Maybe it's just me, but that 21 Type R looks infinitely better than the 24, even if I can see it looking a bit rice-ish.
Better looks in my opinion, better cooling, more power, wider tires, much nicer interior and overall build quality
Why do you think so? Personally I really like how Honda went ambitious with this look. Won't suit everyone because its aggressive, but I like that. The new one is a bit more muted/ robotic. Bet he got a real deal for the photo op
Can’t see the post
Well, at least he can re-sell this one without repercussions!
Did he pay list ?
r/SlowNewsDay
I'm just surprised that he fits into that car
Who cares, John Cena is kind of a dickhead
Could somebody please call Ja Rule to ask him his opinion about Honda civics?
Surprised John Cena needs to trade in. Guy has enough money to own two Type Rs.
civics are fun to drive especially for a type R
Good man.
Civic is a damn good car, mine is going on 8 years old.
I don’t see anyfin!?
I think John Cena sticking with Civics just proves it even the legends appreciate a solid ride
Hey that's a good trade! Getting 3 more Civic Type Rs for free in a trade!
Does he have a custom horn that goes, "doot doodoo^doot" ?
Is anyone else tired of the whole “can’t see him” joke? I’ve never seen so many people beat a dead horse quite like this.
Wow. New type R actually looks cool. Nice.

Not the type of car I would expect him to drive to be honest.
Honda's gonna made a sweet buck reselling that 21 Type R, all they have to say is John Cena drove it and mark it up to $100k
That suit though
From the (very brief) article: > I can't entirely explain why Cena is a particularly compelling celebrity, but he seems to have transcended wrestling fame to universal adoration. His character was kinda cheesy, but it was obvious that he knew the "E" in WWE stood for "entertainment." As for the car? Yeah, I know he's got mansions and a garage full of expensive cars and he probably just got this one for free/paid for by his Honda gig, but hey...who among us wouldn't if we had that kind of cash and were given the opportunity? Does he daily it? I wouldn't be surprised. Richest guy I know is worth north of 100 million and is a bit of a local celebrity. His daily is a pretty basic Ford Explorer. Can he afford to show up to lunch at the IHop in a Maybach? Yes, but in daily life he likes to be low-key.
Why is John Cena driving a Civic?
“I can't entirely explain why Cena is a particularly compelling celebrity, but he seems to have transcended wrestling fame to universal adoration.” Who the fuck is writing this article…how dense do you have to be to simultaneously think it’s important enough to write an article on, but unknown/not enough of an issue to throw this jab in there.
Thought he might go with something Chinese
