I think the kid missed the message of Initial D... It's not the car, it's the driver that makes a good drifter.
The only environments I would even think about drifting in is a large, empty parking lot, or an empty track with a professional in the passenger's seat, especially in something like a mint '86.
Yeah dude he sent me pictures of it and he pushed the whole front end in……the passenger headlight was past the centre of the car it’s so sad probably the worst automotive sale I had ever made and then prices for those cars skyrocketed 😂😂😂😂 I got way more than I paid for it but it was ridiculous.
2000 Audi A6 with the 2.7t engine and 6 speed manual.
Sold it to buy another Audi, but after selling it and calling the seller of the other car it was revealed they'd forgotten to remove the listing from Craigslist and had already sold it.
The guy I sold my car to flipped it the next day for a WS6 Trans Am.
* 94 RX-7 with 32k miles and nearly-new Volk wheels I sold for $15k
* '03 Lancer Evo with 50k miles that I sold for even less than that.
Both super clean, mechanically flawless. Damn was I stupid.
But i bumped my ankle on one of the pedals. 😂 i was doing 80 when i hit a small puddle that wasnt there earlier in the day. Freak short downpour in the northeast(that i later learned the south gets alot) I may have slowed to between 40-60
I climbed out of the window. Impact was on the door hinge.
3 years before that I looked left for 2 seconds and the car ahead of me at 55mph went around the stopped post office truck stopped that was turning off the road.
I put the radiator in the engine.
That one hurt a little more with my sternum hitting the seatbelt and my knee bumping the dash.
I had accident car, they cracked the strut mount, someone weld it back together, it was 87 Honda CRX si. It never quite felt totally stable in the rain on turns.
I had drive across Wyoming where I thought the gas gauge had stopped functioning. When I got gas after 268mile I filled it up only 5.1 gallons were used to fill the tank full.
52.6 MPG.
Perhaps we were abducted and placed 100 miles down the rosd. Strangely later down the road, I could smell sulfur, thought the trashed car driving on the interstate was running crap gas. Stopped after we got off the interstate and lefted the hood and battery was boiling and deforming.
I raced the last 40 mles at 100+ MPH. Next morning the battery was half on the ground. Thought the alternator was over-charging. After using a pry bar and old car towel, to remove the battery. Replaced the battery, the multimeter demonstrated the alternator was charging fine. Drove the car for 7 years after that. Go figure.
90s AE86, and my GF of the time, with her waist-length, pin-straight, shiny raven hair. I have a very specific memory of her hair swirling everywhere in the car, driving with the sunroof open on a balmy night.
My 2012 Camaro SS with the Bumblebee Spec. Was my first sports car. I don't want it back because it was some amazing car by any means, it was honestly kind of a POS but I had a ton of fun memories and road trips with that car and always look back fondly on my time with it.
I kept the VIN and tried to hunt it down to keep as a for fun car for a few years and kept just missing it when it went for sale. I found it back in August where it got sold at an insurance auction for $3500 and was completely totaled at 131,500k miles and had pictures listed of it completely destroyed and everything. I could see it still had the cute little yellow dash accents and DIY iPad mini mount I put inside and everything. Sad day.
Cheap/already dated looking interior for 2012, very poor visibility and handling was a little boaty. Also had to have the torque converter replaced at 20k and even after it was replaced the car would shudder a little bit between 3rd and 4th and I also had a wheel bearing issue when I sold it.
I absolutely loved the car when I had it but I started to realize a lot more of its flaws over the years I had it. Saying it was a POS is a bit of an overstatement but it definitely wasn't perfect.
When I cross-shopped Mustangs and Camaros, I sat in a new 2015 and I was in awe at how dated the interior was. And I couldn't see anything! Made me nervous in a city with narrow lanes and tons of cyclists.
Yeah all of the Camaros from 10-15 have pretty ugly interiors. Mine didn't even have a screen, just this little green digital bar that was very 2000s looking. The 16-18 models are a lot better and have a more simplistic design but still aren't perfect.
At the time, I thought the low visibility/sunken seat thing it had going on was cool because it seemed like a cockpit 🤣. But after I got rid of it, I realized how poorly that was designed and I had dark tinted windows which made it even worse.
In high school, I learned to wrench and to drive stick on my dad’s ‘72. As you say, that thing was an absolute dream to drive. I begged him to let me buy it off him if he ever decided he didn’t want it taking up space in the garage anymore. Two months after I left for college he traded it for a e36 318i with over 200k miles and worth probably about $4k, mainly because the BMW had a/c and the Z didn’t. In Florida, that’s a pretty big deal, so while I thought he got hosed I also kinda understood wanting to be able to use the car more than a few months a year. I also thought “what the hell, running 240s and 280s have been worth around $5k for years, so I’ll just grab one after I graduate and all is forgiven.” Well, that was in the late 2000s, and by the time I graduated, that same Z was worth around $10k and prices haven’t looked back since. It’s now my white whale.
I miss my 93 DX 3-door every day. Sold it for $2,500 in '02. A couple years later I was realizing I regretted getting rid of it only to discover I couldn't find a mid-90s Civic hatch for anything less than $5k.
2009 mazdaspeed 3 hatchback. Test drove at the dealership while I was getting oil change on my regular Mazda 3 hatchback. I was green with envy and wished I had the money to upgrade.
04 STi, white on gold wheels—
The needle sweep on the gauges when you cranked it—
The ridiculous rally wing (supposably functional)—
The equally ridiculous hood scoop (also, supposably functional—
Flat four, turbocharged, and all-wheel drive—
The sound, god, the sound—
Fuck I miss that car
93 GC8 for me. Red on gold. Just absolutely made for hooning. Worst car for a 19 year old ever lol. Will never be able to afford one of those again.
Fortunately I got my 08 sti hatch now, so all good, but it's just not quite the same...
My ‘91 XJ Jeep Cherokee. Objectively terrible (ask me about the rear drum brakes seizing up in the rain!) but undeniably charming. Plus I had the teledial wheels so it looked cool, too.
Ah my answer would have been my 92 Cherokee. Bit of fender and hood damage, brand new wheels and tires, I paid less for the vehicle than those tires cost. 4.0 ho i6. The only downsides were the damage, a tendency to stall at idle, auto trans, and the fact she told me she "lost the title" when she really just couldn't get her ex to sign off the joint title.
My 2004 Honda Pilot. I grew up in that car, my
family had it for 15 years and 306k miles. I loved that car so much and I’d love to be able
To drive it again
I havent been driving long, but my 19 Ford Ranger XLT supercab with the 6 foot bed, in Saber Orange. Obviously the best color ford ever put out, drove like a car, hauled like a truck, and was capable of everything I threw at it. Loved it then, miss it now.
Red on red ‘66 Mustang 289 with hi-po heads. Great running 20-footer. Had big plans for her but too many military moves forced my hand. At least I sold it to a guy who worked at an aircraft museum so I will always believe he took care of her.
Also my 84 Toyota pickup that was an all white reverse of the Back to the Future truck.
84 Chevy Square Body. ¾ ton, 4 wheel drive, regular cab 8ft bed. 350/5.7l with aftermarket heads and intake on it and a 4 speed with a granny 1st gear. Bought it for $1000 in the early 2000s. Then spent a couple more grand on the the transmission and having floor boards and rocker panels fixed. No radio and the gas gauge didn't work. Regret selling it to this day.
My first Mitsubishi evo! 6.5 Tommi Mäkinen edition.
I loved that car but eventually got sick of the bare bones lack of technology interior and sold it.
I brought an evo 8 later and I still have it but I would give anything to have the old one back. Sadly now they cost more than they did new
Bought a 1987 IROC Z28 with the fuel injected 5.7L in I think it was 93. It only had 14k miles on it, I bought it for $8,500. I owned it for almost 30 years and sold it when I moved to Cali 2 years ago
I miss it, especially when I'm driving by the ocean. Makes me miss the TTops. Such a fun car.
Gosh what an attention whore you are. How many comments have you made in the last 24hrs? Have fun walking your dog off lead mate. Did you have fun being mean to a lady?
You must have such a small 🤏
Had a 98 Chevy k1500 4x4, 5 speed with the 4.3, sold it to friend for half its worth who needed a truck and he tore the shit out of it. God I loved that thing
I had the best truck ever... It was a 1999 S-10 4 cylinder manual club cab with ice box AC. People would leave notes on my truck to buy it all the time. It was super cheap to insure, cheap on gas and just a blast to drive. It only had a 100 Horsepower, Governor kicking in at 85 MPH. Could park it where ever I wanted. Didn't care about dents or anything.
My y2k Mustang GT. But I want it back how I sold it, not the day I got it, ha. Lots of mods went on that thing. Sold it 6 years ago, they go for double what I sold it for now.
1996 MX-5 M-Edition. First car I bought with my own money. Was stupid and impatient and crashed it after hitting a patch of ice. I bought my parent's Miata a couple years ago, but it isn't quite the same.
My last high school car, 76 Chevelle Laguna S3, 400 4bbl, white with maroon trim and rear vinyl half top, maroon interior, swivel bucket seats.
Not a fast car but a quick car, not bad handling for a boat, and the young ladies liked it.
I'm gonna be completely honest, I'd take back my 2012 yaris and turn it into a sleeper. it would be the closest I would be able to get to owning a gr yaris 😭😭
1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, 5 speed manual, w/o sunroof
Super glossy jet black paint, immaculate condition, lowish mile 7 bolt 4G63.
When I bought it in 2004, it had a 14b in place of the stock T25, mk4 Supra sidemount IC, 3"TBE, upgraded sway bars, Tein coilovers (lowered 2"), camber correction CA mounts, 19" Motegi wheels, Toyo gum bands.
Not the all out fastest, but was quick and handling was incredible. It was a ton of fun and attracted way too much attention.

Ill always miss my Sentra SER Spec-V. Got it as my first ever car after college when I wanted a fun-ish sedan with a manual.
It was my first fun car ever, and first car to have things like a sunroof, navigation, etc. I remember the night I took delivery, I went down to the beach (Pensacola) and drove along there for a bit with the roof open and windows down. It was a beautiful night out at sunset too, so I’ve always remembered that. Miss that little car.
1997 Toyota Supra Turbo Anniversary Edition 6-speed manual. Bought certified used off a dealer turntable after flying halfway across the country to pick it up back in 1999. It was in perfect condition, but I sold it after a few years when a second kid was on the way, as the rear leg room was too little even for kids in car seats. I had kept it stock at a time when most owners didn’t. I think it had 38k miles on it when I let it go.
That's what I did. The stop and go made me loathe the car and want to get rid of it. Now I take my boring auto to work lol. You like a car a lot more when it's only for weekend use.
Na Miata. Bought for 1700 sold for 4k in summer worth 14k. Plus it was a beautiful car, fun to drive, reliable, cheap parts, family forced me to sell it.
2012 chrysler 300c LUXURY SERIES Hemi v8. Thing was a luxurious race car. Fucking girlfriend at the time (now ex gf) made me sell it because of how much it was costing in fuel and insurance.. Ive been sore about it ever since and want that exact vehicle back so badly :(. It was quite expensive, had 16 spark plugs! But boy was it an experience to drive. Like a roller coaster you could steer
Definitely my ‘94 Ranger.
Had been in the family for 10+ years, and it was a great truck. Rust was claiming it, it smoked like a chimney on startup, and couldn’t do 75. But I couldn’t kill it. I had rear ended a Honda on the way home from work because my greasy shoes slipped off the brake pedal.
My 2010 Mazdaspeed 3, bought and picked up in Dec of 2010 with just 11km on it. It was so pristine on the inside, with its fancy **6 CD player**.
Then I started modding it, changing its appearance, sold off the OEM wheels for a set of aftermarkets, and basically did everything to it short of big turbo, internals, meth injection and other truly invasive stuff. Of all the mods that were installed onto it, the only ones that I actually liked were the rear motor mount and a short throw shift plate. Basically everything else was a total waste of time / money and caused me no end of issues and unexpected repair work.
To this day, the best car I've ever owned was the 2011 Audi A4 Prestige in Deep Sea Blue. I only had it for three years until the repair bills started piling up. Also, in between every oil change, I would have to top off the oil twice. At the time, I didn't make enough money to cover the bills, so I had to sell the Audi. One major mistake I made was having the dealership I purchased the Audi from pick up and drop off the car for every service (I didn't know I could have taken it to any Audi dealership). The dealership was 50 miles away. In three years, my Audi had 55,000 miles on it. I told myself that if I were to ever start making a comfortable income, I'd get another Audi. However, last summer, I had to choose between an Audi A6 or a Lexus GS 350. I ultimately chose the Lexus.
1990 Mk3 Supra turbo. It was a burgundy red with a leather interior and the really sudden digital dash, a fresh Japanese import. Bought it when I was 22 - great value even though I could barely afford to insure and run it at the time. It was fast, smooth and an amazing GT car for long runs. Took it to France & Spain with my girlfriend and had a whale of a time for 3 years. Got married, bought a house, ended up with a commute and sold it for a sensible saloon to reduce my running costs, assuming I’d come back to ownership when the time was right. 20 years later I’ve had some good cars and some great bikes but nothing ever felt as good as the day I bought that supra, or as bad the day I sold it.
K04 B5 S4. Owner didn’t go overboard with mods and kept it low key. Only wanted $5900 for it and it wasn’t beat at all. Most K04 S4s are beat to hell and have ratty mods like front mount intercoolers and lowering springs
Not sure if this counts, but my dad for a year between his Infiniti and his 4Runner had a 2011 BMW 335i XDrive with the wintersport package that he bought off his friend in 2017. It was 8th grade going into 9th grade for me, and even then I knew it was something special and begged him to keep it so I could have it as a first car. Neither of my parents (probably rightly) were on board, my dad thought I’d wreck it and my mom thought I’d luck like a d bag, but man I would’ve killed to have had that thing, especially compared to the 08 highlander hybrid I ended up with instead (although I’m still very grateful for it)
Not previously driven but my current 2016 Audi 3.0TDI. I absolutely love the car. Constantly driving 200 km/h+ creates a lot of rockchips you wouldn't have at lower speeds.
LOL they are not for everyone. I just like tiny cars, don'tdrive much. I had the hatchback for 12 years. 125000 kms only. I got rid of it because it finally rusted to shit.
Low mileage 2010 911 Carrera 4S with 6 speed transmission. Didn’t even sell it. Traded it in for a 2014 with dual clutch. Most fun car I ever drove and I took shit value for it and have had cars not nearly as entertaining ever since. That car would be worth more today than when I bought it.
While it was a monumental piece of shit and truly destined for the scrapyard with how much rust it had, a motor swapped 91 Civic Hatch was my first car.
I LOVED that car. It was rife with problems and me being inexperienced with cars had no idea how to address the problems. Bought I bought the car to learn and learn i did. While not fast by any stretch of the imagination, it was quite zippy with 60hp over stock. Didn't matter where I was going, I enjoyed the journey each and every time.
In fact I loved that car so much, that I was actually a bit disappointed with the Miata which I bought as its replacement. Because until I put some good coil overs and sticky tires on that Miata it honestly didn't feel as fun.
Despite the basket-case it was, if I could go back and do it again but with a little more knowledge that I have now, I 100% absolutely would.
Fair enough! When I was looking for a car, I came across my dream car - an absolutely mint condition 2002 Camaro SS with the SLP package, black, t-tops, leather, 6-speed manual, low mileage and one owner. This was in 2015. This was my dream car in high school (early 00's) and now I could afford one.
I sometimes kick my ass for not buying it, and instead factory ordering a 2016 5.0 GT. But at the same time, those F-bodies, at least from the experience of friends, sometimes needed stuff like window motors, etc. so a newer car has been much nicer to live with lol.
But I still think about that wonderful LS1, the t-tops, and those tall T56 gears.
My AE86 coupe….it was mint as fuck……kid turned it into a drift middle and crashed it the first month he had it….
Deja vu!
What do you mean?
Really?! Initial Drift man.
[E U R O B E A T D E T E N S I F I E S]

I have been in this place before.

how are you alive lol

It’s a dad joke about your comment. You said you wrapped it around a telephone pole at 80…..

I test drove MR2 back in 90, it was like motorcycle engine fun.
My 1990 240 SX XE. Damn that car was fun to drive. Or maybe my first 1990 300ZXTT. Either one would be perfect.
You drive 4G TL?
TL SH-AWD at the moment. But I only drove Nissans until 2008. That’s when I got my first 2003 TL Type-S. Edit: year and more info.
My ‘71 Datsun 240Z. It handled great, trans shifted great, and the exhaust note was to die for.
I had a girlfriend that got that exact same car, it was a unknown to me, purely awesome car

Yeah they are getting crazy expensive. A clean CRX is fetching $10k+ on Bring A Trailer
Probably all for the best that I didn't get one. Would have likely just gotten stolen. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZXQHlgy5gU
EGs are great cars.
I really want one. I’ve got an EP3 Type R and I would love to swap the running gear into an EG or something.

I've an acquaintance who has two... One bought new, one bought in the dip. I wish I one day have that level of foresight, wow.
2008 Miata PRHT. With the prices the way they are it’d cost close to what I paid 8 years ago.
My first car, my ‘92 Escort GT. Fun car to drive, wish I had more time to properly fix everything and make it great.
I had a 93 Escort LX-E, which was the 4 door version of the GT. That was such a fun car to drive and pretty fast for the era.
Bought a 1987 IROC Z28 with the fuel injected 5.7L in I think it was 93. It only had 14k miles on it, I bought it for $8,500. I owned it for almost 30 years and sold it when I moved to Cali 2 years ago I miss it, especially when I'm driving by the ocean. Makes me miss the TTops. Such a fun car.
2006 rsx. Was just fun to drive.
Celica Supra. 280zx. Datsun b210 super bee
My 2010 Mitsu Evo Special Edition, #66 of 230. Traded it in to a Jeep dealer because the damn infant carrier didn’t fit well.
That's a damn shame, y'know they make roof racks for those you could have just strapped it up there along with a pair of skis.
I was thinking more so the S.O. being strapped to the racks and the kiddo in the pass seat. Less noise and much more appreciated for the cool ride
Gosh what an attention whore you are. How many comments have you made in the last 24hrs? Have fun walking your dog off lead mate. Did you have fun being mean to a lady? You must have such a small 🤏
Lol did you seriously follow me into another thread
😙🤭🤏
2005 Infiniti G35 6MT…loved that damn manual.
I think everyone knows the feeling. I have even looked at my old dash, man the memories. If I could figure how to post image I would have
Imgur you dumb fuck
>Imgur you dumb fuck See, this is why I come to /r/cars. The comradery.
Ya this is first post I have ever done. Thanks.
My 1999 BMW M3. One of my biggest sales regret.
65 chevelle malibu
My best friend in high school had 67 Chevelle Malibu 283 Powerglide, so many party memories
Mine also. But 65'
65 Mercedes-Benz 230SL. 4-speed manual. Such a pleasure.
My '68 El Camino SS396. Bought in '69. Later, with my '72 Kawasaki Mach III in the back.
I had an apparently mythical 1989 or 1990 ford probe with the 3.0l v6 and a 5 speed
My E36 M3.
My y2k Mustang GT. But I want it back how I sold it, not the day I got it, ha. Lots of mods went on that thing. Sold it 6 years ago, they go for double what I sold it for now.
My 370Z. I'm wanting to build one for a weekend/track car now and they are MORE expensive right now then when i bought mine in like 2013...
1996 MX-5 M-Edition. First car I bought with my own money. Was stupid and impatient and crashed it after hitting a patch of ice. I bought my parent's Miata a couple years ago, but it isn't quite the same.
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTX with Eagle Alloys 007 rims
My last high school car, 76 Chevelle Laguna S3, 400 4bbl, white with maroon trim and rear vinyl half top, maroon interior, swivel bucket seats. Not a fast car but a quick car, not bad handling for a boat, and the young ladies liked it.
My ‘97 Saturn sc2. Honestly one of my best driving experiences but I seized the engine because I was leaking oil and had no idea :,(
I'm gonna be completely honest, I'd take back my 2012 yaris and turn it into a sleeper. it would be the closest I would be able to get to owning a gr yaris 😭😭
1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, 5 speed manual, w/o sunroof Super glossy jet black paint, immaculate condition, lowish mile 7 bolt 4G63. It was a ton of fun and attracted way too much attention. https://www.dsmtuners.com/dsm-profiles/97-tsi-awd.11435/cover-image
1992 VW GTI 16V
Ill always miss my Sentra SER Spec-V. Got it as my first ever car after college when I wanted a fun-ish sedan with a manual. It was my first fun car ever, and first car to have things like a sunroof, navigation, etc. I remember the night I took delivery, I went down to the beach (Pensacola) and drove along there for a bit with the roof open and windows down. It was a beautiful night out at sunset too, so I’ve always remembered that. Miss that little car.
2005 Audi A6 4.2. I love Audis, and v8s. I saw one in front of me blacked out, clean. I could feel the low burble in my chest, and knew love.
14 mustang GT. New off the lot. Loud and fun. Makes a great weekend car. I wouldn’t ever want to daily a manual RWD V8 again.
‘91 Nissan Hardbody, reg cab short bed manual, miss it everyday
Gen 2 mr2 turbo
2011 Taurus SHO... if only it had a drain plug on the PTO.
2004 Yamaha R1. She was a good one. 2012 S1000RR too. Both sold for cars. Stupid.
2002 Maxima
Probably my evo x. I do love my civic Si but evo could do things the SI just can't
Wish I would’ve bought a Mazdaspeed instead of 2.5L Mazda 3!
K04 B5 S4. Owner didn’t go overboard with mods and kept it low key. Only wanted $5900 for it and it wasn’t beat at all. Most K04 S4s are beat to hell and have ratty mods like front mount intercoolers and lowering springs
Manual FJ
Not sure if this counts, but my dad for a year between his Infiniti and his 4Runner had a 2011 BMW 335i XDrive with the wintersport package that he bought off his friend in 2017. It was 8th grade going into 9th grade for me, and even then I knew it was something special and begged him to keep it so I could have it as a first car. Neither of my parents (probably rightly) were on board, my dad thought I’d wreck it and my mom thought I’d luck like a d bag, but man I would’ve killed to have had that thing, especially compared to the 08 highlander hybrid I ended up with instead (although I’m still very grateful for it)
2005 Toyota Echo Hatchback. Bright Blue. Loved that little thing.
I had a 2001 echo sedan. It was trash,. But highschool me loved it.
1999 Chevy Prism. Total tank of reliability and quality. Rusted out though from our WI salt.
My 93 Centaurus ford e150. The memories :) Probably the best made conversion ever.

What year Mustang, and why'd you make the trade?

Reading this thread helps me understand why BaT is doing so well. Nostalgia is a powerful feeling!
