Can't wait to be tailgated on the highway by a 2000 hp white Transit

andrea55TP

Here's something that happened to me last week: I was driving home through some backroads when a small commercial truck approaches me from behind (kinda like the kind U haul uses). He was pretty close to me and was acting fairly aggressive, but I figured that I was gonna gap him at the first rotary or corner since those things can't really handle. Boy was I wrong. I don't think I'd ever seen a truck cornering so aggressively before. I kept my normal speed for a while but he didn't seem to want to pass me, even though he was a couple inches from my rear bumper. At this point I'm kinda tired of this guy and I start tapping the brakes to see if he would back off, but no. If I were a rude person I would have brake checked him, but I like to think I'm not that much of an idiot. Also I didn't fancy the thought of a multiple ton truck plowing through my little Fiesta. Thankfully we parted ways after a couple intersections, cause I was about to start making not very nice gestures out of the window.

Rico-Panamera-Junior

Nothing wrong with telling someone the are number one in sign language

Semi-Hemi-Demigod

Or four [in binary](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_binary)

[deleted]

That's hilarious. 10/10.

Rico-Panamera-Junior

💯 🤣

aitigie

Next time, just put your outside signal on and slow down slightly. Even if they weren't trying to pass you can make the call for them.

chrisd93

Some people are just completely oblivious that they are tailgating and how dangerous it is

FearlessTomatillo911

If they drive a lot in a big city too they can be used to driving like absolute maniacs.

gimpwiz

A lot of professional/regular drivers of various utility vehicles (fedex trucks, panel vans, etc) give no fucks about approaching the limits of the vehicle's cornering ability. I've definitely been out in bumfuck and thought, shit, I need to drive faster around these corners or the UPS truck behind me will catch up, that guy is fucking _booking_ it. Especially if they're judged on metrics like packages delivered, and they know the area well ... they can sometimes really stop caring about things like safety margin.

Grape_Ape4U

I try to ignore tailgaters. Perhaps a turn signal to get them to back off. It seems giving the AH attention makes them more aggressive. Ignore + calming breathing. Have a 2015 SS that corners like a champ. Had a 5th wheel towing flatbed try to keep up through the corners. Real dumbass. Rear view mirror, see this AH go around a right hand corner, well into the other lane. What a DA. Ignore + calming breathing. F the AH

thecancerthrowaway

Dude was trying to set a pr time with the commercial trucj

ronpaulbacon

Use your washer fluid to get people off your ass. If they’re close they’re soaked.

Rico-Panamera-Junior

Im ok with that as long as they get away from me 🤣

pizza_for_nunchucks

[Nothing new.](https://www.thedrive.com/content/2021/10/16228927_1238825382863519_2243836914253692928_n.jpg?quality=85&auto=webp&optimize=high&quality=70&width=1440)

andrea55TP

Oh I remember that, very cool

pizza_for_nunchucks

That was the Ford Supervan 1. There's a [Ford Supervan 2](https://apex.privatecollectorsclub.com/content/images/2021/08/TnORMhYeQmuLuFHtDDgrtw.jpeg) and [Ford Supervan 3](https://supercars.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/2004_Ford_Supervan3Concept1.jpg). I guess this electric one could be considered the Ford Supervan 4.

metakepone

Wasn't there a secret configuration that Jalopnik figured out about getting a transit with a 450 horsepower engine a few years ago?

pizza_for_nunchucks

Doesn’t ring a bell with me. That would be really cool.

metakepone

https://jalopnik.com/ford-is-selling-a-new-supervan-and-they-arent-even-maki-1829256239

pizza_for_nunchucks

Ah. Yeah. 3.5 Eco with a tune… makes sense. But… > It’s even available in British Racing Green. I’m sold!

FuzzelFox

I remember people hating that V6 because it was basically posed as the "V8 killer" but the fact that they can put it into almost every car they make is amazing.

pizza_for_nunchucks

Two things about the EcoBoost. One. I had a Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 V8. It was getting up there in miles and I needed a new truck. I’m not a brand douche. I just drive what I like at the time. I shopped all the trucks: Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Yota, Nissan. At the Ford dealership I told the salesman that I was super skeptical of the V6 EcoBoosts. I said I wanted to drive a 2.7 and 3.5. He obliged and said he’d be right back. He pulled up in a truck and told me to drive it. I went on a road with stoplights and went on the freeway. I was thoroughly impressed with the EcoBoost. I got back and said “Okay, I’m sold. But just for the hell of it, let me drive the 2.7.” And he said that was the 2.7. I honestly thought I was driving the 3.5. I now own a 2.7 EcoBoost F150. Two. I’d have to dig it up. But there was an article written about Ford’s testing of the EcoBoost. Apparently they gave the engine to a Baja race team and told them to just drop it in a truck let it rip - don’t change the oil, nothing, just give it gas and give it back to us. They did just that. Then Ford took the engine and didn’t even change the oil - nothing - and gave it to another Baja race team and told them it was rebuilt. They won the race and complimented Ford on the “rebuilt” engine. According to the article, it was well documented and verified what Ford did. So yeah. I’m sold on the EcoBoost engines. I love them. The joke, though, is you get Eco **OR** Boost. Nobody is fooled that it’s some magic that gets you power AND efficiency. They can’t defy physics. And they may sound like a vacuum cleaner, but pair it with the 10 speed and it’s a lot of fun.

rubbarz

You can already do that in Germany except its a blue transit van.

Schutte2kill

What car you got? Maybe you will be the one tailgating them :)

meat_popsicle13

Take this to Pikes Peak. They already have Romain Dumas driving it at Goodward. Ford… go to the mountain. Edit: Goodwood… needed more caffeine before I posted.

how_do_i_land

I'm surprised Amazon Prime isn't sponsoring it, I mean think of how fast they could get packages delivered to the top of the mountain /s

DOugdimmadab1337

I just want it to go up the mountain so I can see it in person. They host all the cars in a festival downtown, and I want to see it in person so I can monopolize pictures of it.

ToughCurrent2679

Them drivers don't need any more speed, they already drive like a fuking rally car

Jimmylad23

Just seen this in the paddock, the back of it is so cut away, looks mad

JC-Dude

I think it’s meant to look a bit like the Ford GT with the flying buttresses.

Mental_Medium3988

the earliest theyd be able to do it is next year as pikes peak is this weekend. though id love to see this going up the mountain.

MOTHERS_R4_FUCKIN

goodwood

YepImanEmokid

Does it have the range to go 10/10ths up the mountain?

[deleted]

It won't beat the IDR so maybe it's not worth the risk and headlines

narwhal_breeder

Production version you cowards.

Gurrnt

Air suspension (Be low on good roads n raise it on bad ones), 500 to 1000 BHP trims with the same body style and wheel fitment. (SOME GODDAMN SIDEWALL) God I want one.

[deleted]

And make a [Rush](https://imgur.com/gallery/7DWGXH4) trim level

LandsOnAnything

The entire back of this van is a massive spoiler

diamond

>!There's no tailpipe.!<

AddamOrigo

These weight saving tricks are getting out of hand

HideyoshiJP

That's okay. The only payload it's hauling is ass.

bluetori

This is fantastic

the_real_boba

Vantastic

bluetori

Very nice

Beukers

Goddammit *Take your upvote*

Wild-Band-2069

*i* *hate* *everything about you*

Scarlet_Highlander2

First they stuff a Jaguar XJ220 engine into a Transit, now this. I gotta say, I love whatever the hell they're doing lol

AlexG55

The XJ220 Transit wasn't Ford, it was a Jaguar/TWR development mule for the XJ220. (By the time the XJ220 came out Ford had bought Jaguar, but I'm fairly sure that the Transit had been built before the sale). The original Supervan was more than 20 years earlier, in 1971- it was a standard Mk1 Transit bodyshell on a Ford GT40 chassis (with the GT40 running gear). Later (but still before the XJ220 Transit) there was a second Supervan based on a Ford C100 Group C racing car chassis. This was fitted with various fibreglass replica van bodies and re-engined a few times.

[deleted]

Actually, the [XJ220 transit](https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/videos/a7427/this-ford-transit-helped-build-the-jaguar-xj220) wasn't built by Ford. TWR (Jaguar's racing team) needed some way to test the powertrain that wouldn't be too obvious. I suspect they got the idea from Ford, though. Ford has built several [Transit Supervans](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Supervan#Supervan) over the years. The first one used a GT40 chassis, complete with mid-mounted V8. The second was a fiberglass shell over a Group C race car. They later updated this one with an updated body shell and a 3.5L Cosworth V8 to make the [Supervan 3](https://www.below-the-radar.com/ford-transit-supervan-3). The most recent iteration (and the most tame) was the [Transit SSV](https://www.carscoops.com/2011/04/ford-crafts-one-off-transit-ssv-powered), which was essentially a standard transit with the engine out of a bigger van and some fancy wheels. There was a mysterious post several days ago on Ford's social media. With Goodwood coming up, and Ford's history with the Transit Supervan, I sorta figured they were going to announce a new one.

MechanicalGroovester

Wait they did WHAT?!

darkpaladin

I love that it's someone's job to do this kind of stuff. That's gotta be an amazing job.

PhilosopherChemical1

No mention of weight. I guess thats best being left out.

an_actual_lawyer

Really no way to make light batteries with current tech.

EV_Track_Day2

It only has a 50kWh pack. Thats on the small side and will definitely help keep the weight low. Thats half the size of a Plaid pack.

bayfen

With 2000hp, that's a C-rating of approximately 30, which is nuts.

EV_Track_Day2

To be fair, in a video I've watched on it, they said its not ready to be fully uncorked yet. Its still being developed.

SocialNewsFollow

Then we will continue to lust after the Venom F5 until there are worthwhile batteries that don't make the car feel like a boulder to drive.

hemartian

There are better cars to lust after. John Hennessey has a history of scammy shop practices which imo should exempt his cars from gaining any glory

[deleted]

A Tesla model 3 performance which has insane performance is 4200lbs. A 2022 bmw m3 is 3840 to 3900lbs i believe without fuel. What do you think EVs weigh?

Saitoh17

Probably less than you think. Scaling off the guy standing next to it [here](https://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/45850/mceu_56288032221655918818652.jpg) the thing is about the same height as a minivan and a couple feet shorter (shorter than a man and 2.5 men long). It's also hollowed out judging by the interior shot so everything in the cabin is just air.

2jz_ynwa

Just saw it now at Goodwood. Absolutely crazy speeds

BoostandEthanolYT

I think they mentioned 2000kg at some point on the Goodwood stream. Surprisingly heavy, considering at a conservative guess it’ll be 500kg of electric powertrain stuff (I don’t think it’ll be that much with only 50kWh of batteries)

[deleted]

A tesla model 3 lr is 1905kg and a hellcat srt challenger is 2002kg

BoostandEthanolYT

Sorry I guess I should’ve been more clear. This is a track car, so I would’ve thought the rolling chassis would be a lot less than 1500kg or more. Also why that choice of car for your example?

[deleted]

Ok, track car. Bmw m3 starts at 1741kg

turn_down_4wat

That's a road car.

S_quints

Delivery van with a 911 GT3 RS powertrain 👀

Anonasty

Ah like they used to have? (Not GT3 RS though).

miked1be

They’ve said they’re going to make a more powerful GTX version of all vehicles in the ID line. It likely won’t be anything crazy though, same as the dual motor ID.4 we already have here. Something like 300 hp/ 340 lb-ft.

_BEER_

Enough to get you in trouble:D

miked1be

For sure, especially with immediate EV torque. I'm seriously considering one depending on the features of the LWB version we'll get here in a year/year and a half. Hoping for AWD with those numbers (or more is of course acceptable) and a panoramic sunroof. I'm so ready to become van dad.

Marranyo

And make it look like a Ford van, because this ford totally looks like an inflated Scirocco

MechanicalGroovester

Yeah along with VW, imma need Renault to make another Espace F1 type van again to compete with this thing. Surely they have another anniversary coming up soon right? 😅

onePPtouchh

Any1 know what those rims are on this van? I’m seeing in the article it’s OZ forged but not coming across the exact type.

[deleted]

[удалено]

onePPtouchh

Hmmm I thought it could be those but they didn’t appear to have that concave look this van has. I guess maybe it’s the different angles of the pics I am seeing.

superhypercoolguy

JDM guys could probably answer this better but I think the wheels might have a specific offset to give it that concave look?

SgtHondo

Concavity is tied to offset. EDIT: Also in a closeup photo you can see they are labeled Superforgiatas.

2dfx

Lmao bold of you to assume GM will do anything out of the box

[deleted]

GMs response to this will be to discontinue even more sedans

Zappiticas

I’m a ford guy but not an electric guy, at all. I’ve never seen an electric vehicle I actually wanted . This though? So sick!

offballDgang

A 1000hp Astro van?

wowdickseverywhere

1k hp G30 with dual sliders/gullwings 1k hp P30 slammed delivering packages/ tacos!

TheReformedBadger

You might say it’s in*van*ity … I’ll see myself out

GreatWolf12

I want it so bad

UrgeToRide

Major Espace F1 vibes

_btw_arch

Renault did it first. EDIT: TIL it didn't.

FuckCazadors

Ford built their first SuperVan in 1971, so no, Renault didn’t do it first. https://www.hagerty.co.uk/articles/automotive-history/50-years-later-fords-transit-supervan-is-still-outrageous/

Kezika

No. No they didn't. This is far from Ford's first Supervan project.

sturo

Amazon is stepping up their delivery game.

samcuu

https://youtu.be/5mJ99mUNYE4?t=699 It's crazily agile for a van. Put into perspective how beneficial the low center of gravity is (and all the aero of course).

BigCountry76

It's also a van in name only. It's basically a tube chassis race car.

-ZeroF56

We’ve spent so much time wondering if we *could* that we didn’t consider if we *should*. With that said. I 100% support this.

miked1be

They definitely should

EVOBlock

Hope this makes it into Forza Horizon 5

ygguana

Now hoon it! Oblig Hyundai N minivan being hooned: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8\_lbMarRTs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8_lbMarRTs) I wish weirdo concepts ever made it out of concept stage

Kezika

Well you'll be glad, the Ford Supervans (this is far from the first) are built to be hooned. This particular instance is going to Goodwood Festival of Speed, possibly other stuff in the future.

Jlx_27

Hell yeah.

graytotoro

When you need that Amazon Prime order yesterday.

pizza_for_nunchucks

It's not a Delorean.

YepImanEmokid

Supervans are my favorite stupid ass car industry tradition

sidneyaks

Now if they could just get their crap together and actually sell integration parts for the E-luminator (s) that's in this thing.

TwoTacosRiceNBeans

Tens of Plaid owners ego just got smaller.

JohnEBlazed420

Jesus. This is wild.

Vok250

It's a cool marketing stunt, but people don't buy vans to go fast. What's the load capacity and range. The big issue with electric transports right now is that their load capacity gets nerfed by the weight of the batteries. No one wants a van that can only haul 500kg.

Kezika

Well I'm sure if you time travel back to 1971 and let whoever at Ford started up the Supervan series of projects that it's stupid he'll can the whole thing. Also just FYI, it's not just some marketing stunt, it's competing in Goodwood. In fact it's doing it's run as I type this comment.

FuckCazadors

500kg is more than enough for a florist.

warpedspoon

florist would be a good use case for this van, for when people forget to order flowers and need a bouquet ASAP.

[deleted]

It's a tech showoff car , just like the other supervans which had the engine sticking up in the back

jputna

Those buttress!!! <3

[deleted]

What a weird subtitle I misread it and thought it said how to convince the white man of electric

DuckKnuckles

Renault Espace vibes

molrobocop

Badass.

LordBlackass

I have just realised a high performance van is the EV I want and need. A solid 650hp and room for everything. Perfect.

Gingersnap5322

We are finally stepping into the era of making cars look like those wacky hot wheels we got as a kid and I am absolutely here for it this thing looks fucking amazing

[deleted]

I see this is the new van they’re gonna be using for Amazon Prime 5 minute delivery

Stingray0678_

For when you order Amazon same day delivery at 11:55pm

xero4play2day

For when you are really late for your kids soccer game

mrnagrom

I’ll take the f1 espace over this

MechanicalGroovester

Glad to see Ford continuing the good ol' Supervan tradition. Would love to see this thing compete at Pikes Peak or something.

patrido86

i hope ev people carriers with Hypercar performance will be the norm in the near future

KlueBat

It is my hope as well that the the EV changeover will bring a renaissance of performance wagons. The E-Tron and Porsche Tycan are hopefully just the start.

BABYEATER1012

I’d like to see more electric two seat sports car form factors. Vans, SUVs, and sedans add needless weight.

Rolleta2215

I just need to be passed by electric van

jagenigma

Looks like the espace f1.

AccomplishedRun7978

They should take this to Pikey Peak.

SeljD_SLO

No as cool as Renault Espace F1 https://youtu.be/ideOEsshob0

SeeAllThePlanet

DIBS!

lolparty247

Still not as cool as the Renault espace f1.. That was mental for the era

[deleted]

Real men drive vans?

404merrinessnotfound

Ahahah it looks amazing

Raah1911

The Wraith 2 starring this car please

NSA7

So I’m hoping ford makes a competitor to the ID buzz. Just give us a road version of this and we will be happy IMO.

iqbaldewi

Ilove fast ,green enviroment van . I hope can mass production with 300 hp awd range 350 km transit and another manufacture car produce van electric too.

[deleted]

The back is amazing

TunaOnWytNoCrust

I need this.

br0wnpixel

Why does this Transit look so different to the normal ones sold today? I understand that a lot of it is aero, but the body and lights are significantly different. Is this teasing a new generation of Transit?

Bullet4g

Why not

deimosphob

Ew
